I picked up the print from a FEDEX Store near my house in Arlington, VA on 8.11.17. The frame was destroyed. I called Pak Mail on 8.12.17 and they said they would file the claim with FEDEX. They asked me for pictures of the damage and a certified estimate to get it fixed. I sent Pak Mail 7 pictures and the estimate of $1,359.90 the same day. On 8.23.17 Pak mail sent me a message saying they should have a resolution in the next 5-7 days. On 9.5.17, I sent them a message asking for the status. On 9.12.17 Pak Mail said FEDEX reopened the claim and they then asked if I still had the damaged box. I didn’t have the box. They should have told me this back on 8.12.17 and not a month later. I called them back several times asking to get paid. They said they are waiting on FEDEX. I asked them to pay me themselves and for them to deal with FEDEX since they took the money from me to mail and insure the print in the first place. I called back again on 11.9.17 and they hung up the phone on me when I got upset about them continuing to say they are waiting for FEDEX. I called FEDEX a couple of weeks ago to get them involved. I finally received a check from Pak Mail on 11.30.17 for $1,160.44 to fix my picture that was damaged. However, the price to fix the picture was $1,359.98. I called FEDEX and spoke to the claims office and was told that they could not provide me the details on the claim because Pak Mail filed the claim. I was reluctant to call back Pak Mail because of the problems I had with them, but I didn’t have any choice. I called Pak Mail on 11.30.17 and asked why the check wasn’t for the $1,359.98. The gentleman told me that FEDEX limits the max amount for the picture frame to $1,000. Pak Mail NEVER told or provided me ANY information saying they limited the amount to $1,000. In addition, he said FEDEX didn’t think the necessary amount to fix the frame was $1,359.98. He didn’t have the details why and they have yet to send it to me. I asked why I then received a check for $1,160.44. He said the check included the price for the shipping. After I got off the phone, I reviewed my receipt and saw I paid $295.29 for the shipping, not $160.44. In addition, I paid $57.14 for $2,000 in insurance coverage. I should have only been charged $28.57 if that was the max I could ensure the picture for in the first place. In my opinion, this was like a “Bait and Switch”. I e-mailed this information back to Pak Mail on 11.30.17 and I haven’t heard back from them. I called FEDEX and spoke to claims again. She said FEDEX doesn’t pay out less than what’s provided as a proof for the cost to fix an item, but they wouldn’t pay more than the $1,000. I like to provide business to local companies. However, my mother passed away in July and I’m still dealing with this mess in December. I will never provide business to them or any other Pak Mail franchise again.
Description of Work: THE WORST CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE I HAVE EVER HAD!!! I’m trying to reach Monica regarding the complaint above. She’s left several messages but no phone number to call back and the number is listed as unavailable when she calls. My mother lived outside of Denver, CO and passed away this summer. I paid them over $1,211 to pack and ship 5 boxes with items from my mother’s estate. One of the items was a rare print of Winston Churchill that I insured for $2,000.
