Everything about them is wonderful. I was happy with the service. However, I think that since they are a large company they are a little expensive. I felt I was charged 3 times more than I should have been for the work.

Applewood first came out to determine the problem and what needed to be done. We were told the faucet needed to be replaced. We were given prices (which were based on membership prices since we are a member) and options. We had Applewood come out another day because we wanted to figure out what to do. We decided to buy our own faucet (Applewood had several to choose from) to reduce the cost and we had Applewood install the faucet for us. The gentleman arrived on time, he was professional and completed the job in the time estimate they had given me. He replaced our faucet and supply lines and also a new water shut off valve. He cleaned up after himself and had me check his work before he left.
Description of Work: Our faucet was leaking from under the sink. Applewood replaced the faucet.

I think the electrician did a good job. We paid too much.
Description of Work: Replace the electrical box. The electrician arrived a little early and was ready to work. Gave me an initial estimate, that was about a thousand lower than what we ended up paying. We ended up assisting by tearing down part of a wall and moving furniture. We purchased the Gold Service membership. This includes 24/7 service. Our furnace has gone out. We called Applewood. There are no service people available until Monday. Person showed up on time and was professional. The price quoted, however, was out of the stratosphere! And, it did not even include all the work needed to complete the job. In the end, I found another company to do the work that was very professional but cost about 1/4 as much as this company wanted.

3 months later the transformer that they installed was fried and needed to be replaced again. I had it replaced by another company the second time. When Applewood came out to see why the furnace was not working they saw that the transformer was blown and needed replaced. They never tried to figure out what caused the transformer to go bad. It took them 30 minutes to replace the transformer and didn't fix the main problem which was an exposed thermostat wire. They also tried to sell me a membership for $1000.00. They showed up 2 hours late with no explanation. The employee even said "we are not the cheapest in town but we don't rip people off". A $12 part and 30 minutes of work for $300 is ripping people off. I would not use this company ever again.

I really don?t like these people and I was ripped off. I had an emergency and my box was sparking; they really jacked up the price because they knew they could. They had to tear up my siding and they didn?t repair it so I had to have someone else come back and fix that. They were pretty punctual and the work was good. You can buy a preferred customer membership and they give you an unpublished number but I will never do service with them again.

This company really has awesome customer service! I called them because I saw their truck at a neighbor's house (I live out in Parker, so I often get companies who say they don't service my area). I spoke to a live person on the first ring. She was very courteous and helpful. I didn't even need an appointment that day necessarily, but they got me in THAT DAY! The technician who came out was nice and able to diagnose the problem which required him to come back the following day (I had to have the control board replaced). I was able to use my credit card over the phone without a hassle. The technician was prompt - there when he said he would be. The next day, I received a follow-up call from the company asking how the service was. That was nice as well. I will definitely use them again.

Well, I would say that they did install a working Furnace, for heat, ONLY! The City Inspector has as yet to show, and I have no idea how they do it! They should not have a BBB listing, and I learned a very expensive lesson, and I also am sure that if I had been a MAN, it would have gone differently! I have joined Angie's list, and I also read Consumer magazines, your booklets, and online reviews, and I know a lot more now! What a disgraceful company! They behaved most unethically, and I was taken, and felt stupid, and I now am a super aware, yet fearful consumer, who uses Angie;s list, and the BBB of Denver is not something I personally can respect any longer! I also have a male, whenever I will do anything, but I am now having to repair the A/C, which they should have done, as I likely paid a lot! I am ashamed about the way this looks for women, and i am ashamed that I was taken, by this company, and I really have changed my approach 180 degrees, except for the 'man' issue, I am afraid to say! We have come a long way, but I am not so sure men are aware, when women allow this, and I did! They should do it for nothing, but I am aware I learned an expensive lesson.
Description of Work: I selected this company well before I knew of Angie's List; I did, however, get a Better Business Bureau of Denver Seal of Approval, and they were also recommended by another, dubious (as I feel I have now learned to not trust these, unless I repeatedly see them around) 'BEST of Denver' booklet that appeared much like Angie's List's Booklets, but I have not seen it since! This entire experience was a disaster, and I had no clue until it was too late, and they did put in a new Furnace, and I also asked them to make sure ALL worked; Since it was mid-winter, they did not repair, or properly re-install the Air Conditioning, which we had another company install but a few years earlier; They returned promptly, in the Spring, when I found out that our new Furnace, had not included the A/C! After a brief climb onto our condominium's rooftop, the man announced that I would have to pay them approximately $3000, with taxes, and additional possible charges, in order to get the A/C to work again; I was amazed, and told them to please leave, ASAP! The plumber I hired through this company came in at the same time they did the Furnace installation, and they had an electrician, who would not do anything, and said that we needed to get the whole place rewired, so I said that I could not do that without speaking to my spouse first; They did install the new furnace, which I was told, as I had requested this, was the correct size, and was 'Energy-Star' compliant; It was very hard to see anything they did, but I learned(!) from these people; The plumbing job was the very worst, and yet it initially LOOKED O.K.; But much later, I discovered that they had used cheap sealants, equal to 'LeakEnder', a spray from any store! They also did not do anything to stop the REAL sources of leaking, but I was unaware, that any company would be BBB listed, and yet.. The Plumber told me that he had been a professional for many decades; We have a Kohler faucet in the Master bath, yet he claimed they did not carry that brand, nor could they order parts, but he did show me why our bathroom sink was leaking; I had approved a bid of $1000, to fix ALL the Condominium's plumbing problems; The sinks still leak, as another cheap sealant tape worked very well, for also about a year; It came loose one day, when scouring the sink; Problems ALL reappeared, after a year or so, due to the fact that they had done nothing that a professional, competent plumber/ electrician, HVAC tech would ever do! I filed a BBB complaint, as directed. This is the worst experience I have ever had, and mostly MY fault! (and BBB listed?)

Replaced countertops in our son's kitchen. When the sink and disposal were removed neither the main water shutoff nor the one under the sink was working then when the sink was reinstalled we were unable to get the connections to stop leaking so we had a slow leak the entire weekend We had used Applewood in the past and service was ok and price was reasonable. So we called at 7 am and their service fella was at the house by 8:30. Efficient, knew what he was doing... but $406.37 for 30 minutes and a handfull of new pvc pipes is outrageous! Never even touched the shutoff valves.

Applewood Plumbing was called repair or replace a pump in the heating system of my house. They charged normal and reasonable fees for callout and work which took about an hour. They charged $320 for the pump which is commonly sold in hardware stores for about $40 and as much as $75. When I questioned their pricing, they merely said that I had signed an estimate and they would not alter the bill. I expect to pay a fair markup but quadruple price is not ethical.

I was out of town so the work was performed with my wife's approval. After talking with me on the phone my wife approved the repair even though I thought the price was too high. When I got home the price had doubled. He convinced my wife that the entire drainage system was leaking and needed to be repaired. The replaced parts were left for my inspection. The pipes showed signs of leaking, but only minimal stains, and no signs of running water. The plumber indicated to my wife that they were pinhole leaks. He suggested that all the pipes had to be replaced. The proper repair for a pinhole leak is to clean the area and apply J B Weld which seals the leak, a very quick and inexpensive job. The man was a good plumber and a GREAT salesman. Applewood will not be at my house again.

They had replaced a shower faucet for me about seven years ago and gave a lifetime guarantee on it, so, I called them back when it started leaking. They fixed that for nothing, but, said that the problem was with my pressure regulator which was also put in at the same time. The city has raised the water pressures, so, it made sense what they said and perhaps that was the case. They charged me a horrible price for the pressure valve which was 690 dollars. However, I trust their people and their work. I am going to use them again because the price they quoted me actually turned out to be cheaper to join their service club. We get a free check for our furnace which I intend to do next fall.

I did not have a very good experience with Applewood. The guy who came out to give me the estimate was very controlling while he was out to my home. He did not act like he had any idea what he was talking about. It took him a while to figure out what was wrong and then he told me that it would cost ten thousand dollars and no more. Well ten thousand dollars is a total turn off and it turned out that none of the work was necessary. All I needed was to have the line snaked. They were very responsive and they came out just as planned.

The furnace in one of our rental units was blowing a "low voltage" fuse when the tenant turned on the AC. We called Applewood because we had a coupon from them and because they had a full page add in every phone book in our house. They came out the same day and examined the furnace/AC. He tested a few things and then said that the problem was probably on the roof, but that Applewood was not yet doing AC unit service (based on a temperature outside that day of ~50* I guess?), (why they even agreed to come out then was beyond me at this point). The technician did notice that the bearing in blower motor was going bad and since he was already there I agreed to have him replace it. He replaced the motor and that works just fine. Their technician/sales snake then suggested that since I already was paying for this service call that I sign up for their special service plan hocus-pocus and that when the temperatures came up (about 2 weeks later) That would entitle me to a free spring visit from them to see about and diagnose the fuse problem and 10% off the fixing of whatever that problem would be (The plan has a spring visit and a fall visit). I paid the $100 +- dollars for this figuring that it would work out when they came back to fix the problem (The actual math does work out in my favor since I was certain that the AC unit would be $3000+ actually $10000 in their terms and 10% off that is a lot of money!). I did find out later that the $1000 I paid to have this motor fixed should have only cost ~$400. Well, as luck would have it a few weeks later I called and made an appointment to have this "free" visit and see about getting the AC/fuse thing fixed. I booked a date and again coordinated roof access with the building manager. They reminded me that the company had to have their insurance on file in the office in order to get access to the roof. I called Applewood back to have them fax their insurance and was informed that their employees are not allowed to go on the roof of the condo building and that my appointment would be cancelled. I mentioned that I had paid for their "membership" super duper service plan and was told/sold/lied to by their service guy that this was the process. I was told by the squawking idiot on the other end of the phone that there was nothing she could do. I ended up finding a better contractor, thanks to angies list, and will never use Applewood again. To sum thing up: 1) I paid over 100% more for the services that I received then I should have. 2) I wasted lots of time, energy, and $ with these clowns. 3) I Paid a membership fee to use their services, which it turned out they couldn't render. 4) They are making up the cost of those phone book adds with huge markups... Duh! Their slogan should be: You can easily find better quality and service, but I guarantee you can?t pay more than with Applewood!

I hired these guys to dig up an old busted clay sewage line 4 years ago. They dug up my yard, and replaced the main line for over $7,000. They subcontracted for the work, and only supervised the job for about 5 minutes. This year, it turns out that they did not actually fully inspect the sewage pipe from the exterior wall, and overlooked an old branch that was coming off of the cast iron...about 2 feet from the exterior of the house. Meanwhile, large roots infested the pipe, and created another sewage backup. They charged me an additional $5,000 to dig up the 2 feet of concrete next to the exterior wall, and to replace that portion of the cast iron. The plumber proceeded to leave a RAG in the pipe during this portion of the job. The following day, ANOTHER plumber from Applewood came to snake the line AGAIN, and extract the rag, claiming that it was an 'unrelated job', and so wanted to charge me AGAIN for that job. Applewood took no responsibility for the 2 feet of faulty cast iron pipe from the original job done 4 years ago, claiming that everything they did was 'up to code'. I will NEVER use this company again, and advise that you do the same.
