Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric

They gave me an estimate of 4400 for a job that another company gave me $804 for. I have tried to contact them to get a breakdown of the job and they "don't have that information". The people from the other company said that Applewood is not even licensed to work on well pumps.

These thieves in workman's clothing charged $1099.17 to replace a furnace motor (available on-line for $300). Spent approximately 90 minutes to do this. One of your A-rated companies was later at my house for another repair and stated that their charge for the furnace motor replacement would have been approximately $475. I will never again do business with Applewood Plumbing and Heating. I think they shamelessly overcharged me. I caution anyone else thinking of dealing with this outfit. Oh yeah, Applewood bent the main blower wheel (accidently?) when they changed the motor and and did not bother to unbend it which your A-rated company repairman later did. Instead Applewood advised me to have it replaced by them at the time of the furnace motor replacement.

Took the guy I hired off Angie's list and hour and 15 minutes start to finish. THAT WORKS OUT TO $700 AN HOUR FOR THESE GUYS!

They are not on our good list. We have used them for a long time and we had a service agreement with them. They came out and were supposed to come out and check everything was okay. Before that we were a little upset because their prices are ridiculous, they are way too high. They then sent a couple of guys out to look at our plumbing and electrical and the electrical gave a quote to replace our outside master electrical panel. We got another electrician to look at it and he said that this was not a big problem and they wanted to charge us a fortune to fix it. To me it was a rip off and that finished it for us as far as we were concerned. They have always been overpriced, but have always done a good job in the past, so we paid up, but that was too much. We have used them for a long time and right now the prices have gone up and we will not use them again. They have always done a good job when they have done work for us, but the prices were too high. We did not get them off the list.

They gave all these coupons that I did not need. As a "benefit" of their high price plumbing job, they said would they do a free furnace inspection. This inspection did not include any cleaning or repair. They claimed they found a crack in the heating element and wanted to sell me a new furnace. I have a carbon monoxide detector right next to the furnace so there is no leak. They said they did not use a carbon monoxide detector. On the sink job, I asked them to repair the Delta sink set. They wanted to sell me a new set and that the fix would only be temporary and last 6 months. I did persuade them to just do the simple fix to stop the leak. I would not use this company in the future because they push goods and services that I don't want, and also the price.

Made an appointment and Applewood was out later that day which was a blessing for us since we couldn't run the garbage disposer until the GFI outlet was replaced. Applewood called ahead to see if I wanted the repairman's credentials emailed to me so I knew who was to be expected. Steve, the repairman, donned booties when he came in the front door in order not to track anything through the house. He was quick, efficient, cleaned up after himself, and answered some other questions I had about electrical work. I would hire Applewood again in a second! I used the Angie's List coupon and got 35.00 off of my bill. These days, anything helps.

Good advice and recommendations. Repaired broken drain pipe and remove clogged pipe quickly. Did not choose to do Other projects on toilet repair and sump pump repair due to price.

Saw the add in the paper so took advantage of it--and calledfor an appt.-was made for approx 9:)) am and Levi arried about 9:30 am put on his shoe coverings and went to work--tuned up the toilet and adjusted the water presure--as it was sqealing as it refilled after flushing". fixed the problem-took off his shoe coverings left me the paper work and a refer magnet note pad and a rubber jar opener--then left--very nice person-did a good and tidy job

I found them on Angie's list through a deal offered. He was in and out he did a great job. I was very satisfied with the service.

"Jeff" performed all this service, and more. The inspection of the hot water heater yielded some observations I was already aware of, and some that were new. "Jeff" said many of the recommendations for improvement of our hot water heater could be deferred to the time this current unit must be replaced. I am hopeful the tune-up will help reduce the wear-and-tear on this aging appliance. I was a little surprised, however, at what constituted a "flush". In our homeowner's repair and maintenance book, a flush of a hot water heater is described as a process involving completely draining the tank, refilling the tank and then running the water out again until it runs clear. "Jeff" said that he would simply run the water until it ran clear, and that the method I was anticipating is too h****** the hot water heaters. I deferred to his professional opinion. I also gleaned a lot of extra knowledge during this service visit. I asked a lot of questions about "tankless" water heaters, and "Jeff" was very generous with his professional opinion. Also, in addition to the inspection of the water heater, "Jeff" checked the water pressure to the house, and recommended a water pressure regulator, and some improved valves. He took the time to write up estimates of all the recommended services, as well as information on a service club membership that Applewood offers. (I do NOT feel I was pressured to join the service club, or to take action on any of the recommended services.)

They were great. They were out for three days in a row and he and my son-in-law could not do the work alone, so some other came. They pretty much worked straight through for the better of three days and I spent about $2000 on that service. I live in a Victorian house and my son-in-law excavated the grease pit because water had been draining in there from my basement, pumping out my washing machine. We had to empty that whole thing and throw that it and route around that so it went straight to the sewer line. They had to put it all by hand because they could not get a back hauling. My other son-in-law came down and got it back together. When they came to the house they had put on little booties so they did not stain my carpet. They were great and it was really nasty. They don’t charge extra for coming out.

I used the recent Angie's List coupon for the work. They are near my neighborhood. I have seen them and they look very professional when they come out for work. They have their trucks all around here and they always look like just really clean tech people. I also used that as a launch pad to find out if they could look into a couple of other things and give me an estimate. The estimate was high, and I don't care about that, but it was very brief and almost like it was too bothersome to do it. They won't get my business. I know that there were options that could have been offered but they didn't even offer it. The toilet tune-up was kind of a goof ball thing and it was very weird. They came in and didn't really have anything to do to my toilet. It was very strange. They pulled the flapper off, changed it, and put a new one on. The old one was just like the new one and there was nothing wrong with it. The guy wasn't unprofessional and I don't think they were bad but I just wasn't impressed. I was astounded with the office people and they were amazing in trying to set up the appointment, and that is really why I was blown away.

The man was very pushy about how I needed to replace my water heater because it is old. I understand that they were trying to upsell me, but it was very uncomfortable. He even seemed upset that he couldn’t sell me a new water heater.

The plumber, Mitch, was knowledgeable, courteous, and helpful. He came on time and explained the service he was providing. He wore shoe protectors while walking through the house from bathroom to bathroom, and discussed each toilet's condition with me as well as the exact service he performed for each tune-up. He recommended possible further necessary service with no pressure.

We purchased a Gold Membership last May when we had Applewood move some wiring, install floor electric plugins and a ceiling can light last May in our new house. The Gold Membership included the above inspections performed today, which I decided to have done now that we have been in the house 7 months. I really didn't think Applewood would find much since the house is new and we had already had some warranty work done, but the inspections were in a sense already paid for. Much to my surprise, both inspectors found significant items that I can still get fixed by my builder under our warranty. Items found include: noisy bad bearing in furnace inducer motor; low water pressure in house, toilet water levels adjusted, correct types of air filters to use in furnace/AC per season, heat ducts that need to be re-fastened/moved/re-configured, need to replace 3" 'expansion rubber' on drain stack in basement and other air duct issues. Increasing the water pressure greatly increased the functionality of the faucets and toilets in the house. Additionally, the plumber labeled the gas and water turn-off valves on the water heater and main water inlet and labeled the furnace for safe turn-off. Both inspectors seemed to be a lot more knowledgeable about our our HVAC and plumbing systems and workmanship quality than some of our builder's sub-contractors. Our builder is a nationally-recognized builder with a good reputation. I really appreciated the serve people's punctuality, thoroughness, cleanliness and professionalism. I will have Applewood back to fix whatever my builder does not agree to fix under our warranty and to fix any problems that develop in the future.

When the first technician came out he wasn't overly friendly or rude. He hopped on the roof did some minor maintance and replaced float valve. Everything was great until we came home the next Friday and our ceiling had caved in underneath the swamp cooler. They quickly had a second technician arrive at the house, he was very friendly and helpful and said the first technician didn't check for leaks - he had fixed the float, but there was still a leak. So the second technician fixed a leak and pointed out that whoever installed the swamp cooler had not properly patched the roof, so that was why water was getting into the house. Two days later we had to call again because water was leaking through the hole in the ceiling. On the third visit, the technician was prompt, but it was the same one as the first visit. Again, not friendly or rude and he found another leak. We were not charged for the second and third visit and it appears to finally be fixed. When I called the first time I advised that I was a AAA member and was supposed to get a discount. The gentleman that made me the first appointment, told me to just tell the technician when he arrived. When the first technician finished the work he didn't know anything about a AAA discount and made a phone call. The best he could do was give me 5%, which was not the advertised discount on the AAA website. I don't know if $350 is a fair price for the work done, but I had sticker shock. I will never use their services again, though their customer service people are friendly on the phone and they are very prompt - I don't have much trust in their technicians.

Not the first time I've used Applewood, and it won't be the last as the concern and care for my problem was outstanding. On Tuesday, I noticed an unusual smell in my house, a smell like I had been cooking sauerkraut. On Wednesday, the smell was intensified. I called Applewood and they were willing to schedule same day service, but I make the appt for Thursday due to my schedule. Their check was thorough, sewer and vents, etc. They determined my inline vent fan from the crawl space to the outdoors was inoperable. Upon pulling the fan, they found 2 rabbits wedged in the burned out fan. After a quick phone call, they sourced the inline fan, picked it up, and installed it. Alas, my house is odor free. The service tech was outstanding...professional, friendly, and concerned about me. He also pointed out that my water heaters are about 13 years old and showing serious signs of future failure. WIth no pressure to close the sale, he gave me two replacement options for me to consider. I wish every vendor was as professional as Applewood.

The service personal arrived on time and the dispatcher kept us informed before and after the work. The employee was professional and appeared to check everything involved. He completed his work and gave us a report on what he found and an estimate of any repair costs if we decided to fix in the future. He told us what was absolutely necessary and what was our choice.

The price was too much; but it was something we needed to be done. I like the fact that they can come out on a Saturday. They can come out for that kind of stuff on a weekend, where some places don't. I have just used them in the past for other stuff, so it was somebody I knew.

Awesome experience! No problem with scheduling the appointment on Saturday morning at 9:00am. A call was made to confirm the appointment, along with an email containing a picture and qualifications of the electrician that was going to be coming to my home. The email was a very much appreciated extra touch! Walt, the master technician, arrived at exactly 9:00am. He introduced himself in a friendly manor, and promptly put on shoe covers, which I always appreciate! He diagnosed my problem quickly, to replace the ballast in my kitchen light, which I had already assumed must be the problem. He gave me a clear and consise estimate of the work to be done along with an offer to join their member's club.I accepted the estimate which encluded a $35 coupon. Walt coverd the hardwood floor where he was working and changed the ballast in record time. We carried on a conversation about this and that the whole time and he never missed a beat! He couldn't have been more courteous or professional! After finishing the job he took my payment and gave me his card and a few additional coupons for future services, shook my hand and was out the door------all within forty minutes!! I couldn't have been more pleased---and I am extremely hard to please! I defintely will use Applewood again--and ask for WALT! A few minutes after Walt had left, I got a follow up call asking if the appointment was to my expectations--which it was! Great customer followup!

Everything went fine. They also provided me with an estimate on replacing the water heater, which was a bit higher than other estimates I had gotten. The technicians were nice and polite. I’m happy with the services provided, overall.

We were very pleased. My husband thought the technician was very professional, and we would definitely use them again. In fact, they’re schedule to service our furnace.
