Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric

My wife called Applewood and asked them to send someone out. We have hot water heat, so the inside A/C heat exchanger and ductwork is in the attic. When the guy showed up, he went up the ladder into the attic and came down a few minutes later and said that it was too hot to work up there and he would come back in the morning before it got so hot. He told us that he needed to install a condensate pump to fix it. He guestimated that it would cost "about $600". After he left, I figured out what the problem was with the drain and fixed it myself. Because we would have to pay the trip charge of about $100 anyway, I called Applewood and asked if they would apply the trip charge to straightening the fins on the external unit that was damaged in a hail storm. The guy that came to do that did a fairly good job on the outside fins but did not straighten any of the bent fins on the inside of the coils. The charge was about $400. I decided to join Angie's List to find a better service provider the next time we needed A/C service.

Ryan was very professional, both in dress and manners, explained the issues that needed attention, and was able to complete the necessary repairs while he was here at my home. I totally appreciated this so I didn't have to arrange for another appointment. Can't say enough good things about both Ryan and Applewood. They are more expensive that some others; however, I've always had perfect service from them.

They were professional and courteous. The experience was a good one.

Not well. I called on a Sunday night and service was scheduled for the next day from 4-6pm. No one came. I got a phone call at about 5:50pm telling me that they were busier than expected and asked me to reschedule for the following morning from 9-11am. I got a call before 9 the next day telling me that they would arrive between 9 and 9:30am. 9:30am rolled around and no one came or called. When I called to inquire I was told they would be there between 10 and 10:30am instead. I called around 10:20am to cancel the service because I was so sick of waiting.

Quickly responded, diagnosed a problem that was previously misdiagnosed by another company. Accidently broke something and fixed it at no cost to me. Very professional and listened to my issues without upselling.

The customer service people who take the calls, schedule the service and follow up were excellent. They were polite, efficient, and did a great job of taking measurements/brand etc for our toilet so the service person could bring a new seat for us. The servicemen explained that our toilets were all quite old (which was true) and beginning to corrode, so they could be rebuilt for (I think it was) $600/piece or we could install new toilets. They quoted a price to replace the toilets that was about 5x what we could purchase a top-end Kohler toilet for at Home Depot or Lowe's (including installation). When questioned about the pricing, they explained that they only stock very top-end toilets ... but in the end I couldn't help but feel that they were taking advantage of customers. We went to Lowe's a few weeks later and had a wonderful experience with both pricing and installation.

Applewood always does an excellent job and is extremely timely. Their technicians are friendly and well trained. The only drawback is cost, but sometimes its simply worth paying more for a job well done.

I felt comfortable from the beginning from when he came to the house to when he left. My girlfriend was visiting from NY and commented on how nice he was and how she did not feel like we had to watch him every second while he was checking on the water heater. He offered advice and was not a pushy salesman in anyway and given the fact my husband wasn't home he did not make me feel like he was trying to use a bunch of lingo I did not know or understand to scare me into buying a heater. He was also so nice to my dogs and when he left made sure to say goodbye to girlfriend as well.

In short, while the service is fine, not 100% sure I would use them again as I think I can get a better price elsewhere and when I am with them, I always am waiting for the next marketing, up-sell, "opps here is a big expensive problem you need to fix" shoe to drop with them.

I called needing "Emergency" A/C service because I have a disabled child that can not tolerate the heat. The dispatcher worked it out to get someone out right away for me even though they were backed up. The technician, Sam Y., arrived within an hour and was excellent. He check the unit and diagnosed the problem. He explained their flat rate pricing and gave the option of joining their maintenance program. When I agreed to the work the part needed was brought to the house within 1/2 hour and installed within another 1/2 hour. Sam then checked out the rest of the system to make sure all was in working order. I was so thankful!!

Contacted Applewood plumbing and heating on Saturday when my swamp cooler stopped working in the 100 degree heat. I was pleased to find out a technician was available on Sunday for the standard $30 call fee. An arrival window of 11am to 1pm was scheduled. Applewood promptly called my on Sunday at 11:30 when they knew the technician would not be arriving until after 1pm. When Zack arrived he was polite, professional and proceeded to inspect my swamp cooler which sits on the roof. At the time is was 100 degrees out. Zack quickly determined the problem and explained how much it would cost using Applewood's standard rate book. Upon completion of the work Zack waived the $30 service call fee and explained the 2 year warranty that covered the work performed on that day. My swamp cooler was up and running within the hour thanks to Zack. I have used Applewood many times over the years and they have always provided highly professional technicians and call center personnel.

Doug provided the wiring and installation of a bataroom light, fan and switches and removed the old light and switches.

The technician was polite but didn't really know what he was doing, since he told us that what needed to be done was WAY more than what was necessary. The pricing was TERRIBLE!

Applewood Plumbing clearly takes customer service very seriously. They called to see if the technician, Craig, could come early and they emailed me a pic and bio of him. I have never had any company send me a pic or bio of the person who was going to be coming to my house. That's amazing. Craig did a great job tuning up our toilets and was very personable. I'd happily recommend Applewood to anyone.

I was not really happy with them, because they were really pricey. I looked around afterward and I could have had it done cheaper. They were polite and nice, but I think they really gouged me on the price. I wanted the same hot water heater and they quoted me $5000. I didn't want to do that, so I bought a small electrical heater. They came and referred me to someone to extract the water. I used them because it was at night and I needed immediate assistance. I think they took advantage of my age and of my situation. They promised to be here in 30 minutes and they came 3 hours later.

Unforutntaely due to the location of the tap plumbing, the guy needed to crawl through my super dirty crawl space to fix it - which upped the price and made it tricky to repair. However - as always with Applewood, they show up on time, their guys are uniformly awesome and good at what they do, they price accordingly - though the membership (annual- $160) does give you a discount on every service they perform, and removes the call out fee. It was more expensive than I thought but the guy did an amazingly neat job - tried to fix stuff which he didn't need to - and was personal, professional and courteous. You can always find someone cheaper, but I've never had a problem with any of their work (they've installed a hot water heater, fixred my washing machine hoses and removed old wiring for me). They are my standbuy for all thinks HVAC and when I've tried to go 'cheap and cheerful' I've usualy ended up waiting around or having multiple call outs to fix a problem. Applewood are the Mercedes of HVAC and plumbing - trusted and reliable. If you can;t afford a mistake or you won't want to waste your time.. give them a call. They're available 24 hrs a day!

Ummm... $1850 for a water heater? Are these guys professional crooks? We got a better one (from Wizard Plumbing) for less than half the price installed. They said the high price was because of the warranty - so if you want to spend $1300 for a 12 year warranty on a $500 water heater, this is the company for you! How do these guys stay in business??? Moreover, when the Wizard guy came out, he informed me that we probably didn't even need a new one, although this one would probably go in 1-2 years. So overall, I find this business not only over-priced, but dishonest. Would never call again...

We had one of their electrical people out and we had one of their plumbing people out who cleaned out some drains. We were very happy with them. Both of them were extremely courteous and very professional. We have invited them back. We went ahead and joined their membership. We like that you can get both plumbing, electrical, and HVAC in one place. The people are master plumbers and master electricians. They seem to have the ability to make decisions instead of calling in every few minutes. They are not only responsive, but also proactive.

Everything turned out good when they did the service. They are very polite and they clean up after themselves. The guys are pleasant and friendly. They are clean and neat in appearance. They stand behind their work if something would go wrong. We have never had any problems.

Their service has been fine. They did their job well.

Their service was good. They were timely and courteous. When they set the appointment; they arrived. They kept us informed on the schedule. They gave us estimates on all the work. They were personable. They were able to make sure they got the work done in the timeframe that we needed.

They were terrible. They did a terrible job and they tried to charge me an exuberantly high price. The toilet is worse than before they did their work. I will never use them again.

They are fabulous. They are super attentive and responsive. Each person that has come out has been very efficient and friendly. They are all very competent workers. They always wear their certifications around their neck.

The Applewood office let me know when to expect him and he arrive right on time. He had noted that some of the previous connections were not installed appropriately and fixed all during the installation. He let me know what he was doing during each step of the process. He's very professional and very personable. He was more than happy to answer each one of my questions. It was a great experience!
