Applewood Plumbing Heating & Electric

I called a different plumbing company out & was told that the problem was indeed minor & I did not need any of the items listed on the estimate from Applewood. He did the fix & I had no further problems.i've heard similar stories about Applewood. I will never trust them again.

We just moved to Denver and wnated to be certain the heater was in great shape before winter. Also wanted to understand the functioning of all the water related systems in the house. He was very informative and polite, taking the time to explain everything and answer all questions. We happened to order a whole house humidifier and had the box sitting at the door when the plumber arrived. He stated his company also installs this brand of humidifier and stated he would give us a quote. From the reviews on line, we expected to see a quote for installation between $300 and $500. The quote came back at $850. We have decided to do the installation ourselves.

The employee showed up on time. He didn’t spend but 10 minutes down in my crawl space. He came back up and told me the water heater was shot and there was nothing he could do. He recommended I install a new one as soon as possible. While telling me this he was writing up an estimate. I declined. I called in an acquaintance who flips houses. He looked at it and he told me that he didn’t see any footprints around the hot water heater. He confirmed it was old and said to call him when it stopped working. I ended up replacing it 3 months later. I didn’t feel like I got what I paid for with the Big Deal.

In addition, Gary explained what he was doing and let me watch. He put four notices on what to do if there was an emergency with my water system, I have a well. He also gave me an estimate on another job. Gary was very nice, and I was very satisfied.

Bought a Big Deal toilet tune-up for one toilet that would fluctuate from running off & on and then be hard to flush, but it turns out they would not work on our toilets - as they are Mansfield w/ a horn-tower flush valve (instead of a conventional flapper valve). However, no where on the Big Deal purchase page did it state that some toilets may not be covered. It wasn't until AFTER I bought the deal, that then on the receipt email (received later in the day) it stated that some toilets may not be covered (but it still did not mentione Mansfield as one). Nevertheless, the technician arrived on time and was very professional. But upon seeing the Mansfield flush valves, he stated he didn't have any parts for that toilet, nor did he really even want to work on this brand of toilets --- he proceeded to explain that (I'm paraphrasing here of course) he thought Mansfield are sub-par and there are lots of better brands out there (here comes the up-sell...). He stated that the only thing he could do would be to replace the entire flushing assembly (all the guts of the tank) which would cost upwards of $100 to $200. Needless to say, I turned down the full replacement offer. So I did some further investigation, and $5 later and an hour of my own time (tracking down the part and DIY install)... and now the toilet is running fine. I considered a C-rating, but they still were professional and on time, and the Big Deal was refunded with no problem. So I give them a B rating for a good try and good price, but I'm a bit irritated with the up-selling and the fact that I fixed it myself with no problems.

The guy who came out was a nice guy, but he was trying to rip us off as he said that we needed a complete toilet rebuild for $400, when you can buy a brand new toilet for less than $200. I told him thanks but no thanks and he left.

The tech was perfectly on time, fixed the toilet, made a few suggestions and gave us some coupons for future work. Great, quick experience.

They came out for a toilet tuneup. The guy was great, knowledgeable, & explained what he did & why. All we needed was a new flapper, which he did for nothing. Also declined to "tune-up" our 7yo water heater, explaining it would likely do more harm than good. Could have tried to sell me a new one. Very impressive.

Very well, plumber was quick, clean and very professional and pleasant. I felt comfortable with him in my home. The toilet has not leaked since and the tune-up was many months ago

Everything went fine. They were prompt and did the job they said they would.

The service man arrived quickly after I contacted this company to check my toilet. My toilet had not been working properly, so I know it needed an easy part replacement. The service man told me that I needed to buy an expensive part from a notebook that had pictures of a lot of different parts. I felt like I was being "hard sold" to buy an expensive part. I told him no thank you, I did not have that kind of money. But then he changed his mind and decided to replace the part for free, after all. He said it was because it was their first service with me, so he would do me a favor so I would hire him back for other services. In my opinion, this service man was trying to sell me an expensive unnecessary part. I did some research online after he left and determined that I could have easily done the repair on my own with an inexpensive part. Other than that, I was very happy with the service.

Fast and efficient service - have used multiple times - always do a great job!

Called plumber to hook up a dishwasher. That's just one line. He also found a small leak on another line. He quoted me a fee of almost $400 for each repair. Since I was traveling and needed the work completed ASAP, I had no choice but to pay this rip-off artist. I had other work I wanted done, but since he quoted $400 for each repair or project, I only had him complete the necessary ones. Work was completed and there are no leaks. Hey for that price it better not leak.

Overall, I was extremely impressed with the work that Jaime did. He was outstanding. If he is an example of the folks that Applewood hire, then you can't go wrong getting Applewood to do your plumbing.

Prompt, courteous, knowledgeable. Not only was I contacted prior to their arrival, but they emailed a picture of the plumber who'd be coming...great stuff!

what I expected to be a few hundred became $500. then i was told if I join a club i get more of a discount. it ended up near $600. this is too much.Now that the toilet is fixed i am not happy with how it operates, you have to flush it just right. I don't think i will use them again, and I am not sure I am happy about your recommendation. I have not called them back out, but I need to because i am not happy.

I bought the Angie's list coupon, in case I needed plumbing services in the future. That happened almost immediately as my mother stopped up her toilet. I called Applewood and they said I could apply my coupon for her service. My mother has Alzheimer's disease so the caregiver on duty handled the appointment for us. Applewood arrived on time and unfortunately, had to snake the line to unclog it. I had no problem with their work, they got the toilet working again, however, when we got the bill it was $265 and it looked like they hadn't deducted the Angie's list coupon. I got the invoice and called Applewood and asked for a detailed bill, and was told they don't provide one. I asked if they had deducted the coupon, as it wasn't written on the invoice, and they didn't know. I was told the plumber would call me himself to answer my questions, but I never heard from him. I'm not sure I would use this service again since I had no response to my questions.

The workmanship was of the most excellent quality I have ever experienced and I have owned and remodeled over 15 properties. Jon W worked more hours to finish the project than most would have done.

IThis company, Applewood Plumbing, is the MOST punctual, professional organization that I have dealt with in a very long time!! The technician was clean, professional, very honest and very pleasant. I was impressed at the amazing communication with the company along with them insuring that my plumbing issues with my water heater was taken care of with speed and accuracy. I would HIGHLY recommend using Applewood Plumbing. I trust Applewood implicitly and have scheduled them to take care of our other two homes. I am excited to use them for our electrical needs too. I am planning on buying one of their waterless tank systems within the next few months since they are fairly priced along with knowledgeable technicians and warranties to insure that our water systems will be best taken care of with Applewood.

Receptionist who took my initial call and made the appointment was courteous and professional. Tech (Jeff) arrived within the appointed timeframe. He listened to what I needed to have done, did an assessment. Jeff explained that some of the unknowns would not be known until the work was started, so he wrote an estimate for various scenarios. At every point in the process Jeff kept us informed of status. When he completed the job, the work areas were left in clean condition. Even though it was after 9p when he finished the job, Jeff was still as cordial and professional as when he started. The receptionist called after Jeff departed to make sure the job was completed to my satisfaction. Excellent follow through.

My wife called Applewood and asked them to send someone out. We have hot water heat, so the inside A/C heat exchanger and ductwork is in the attic. When the guy showed up, he went up the ladder into the attic and came down a few minutes later and said that it was too hot to work up there and he would come back in the morning before it got so hot. He told us that he needed to install a condensate pump to fix it. He guestimated that it would cost "about $600". After he left, I figured out what the problem was with the drain and fixed it myself. Because we would have to pay the trip charge of about $100 anyway, I called Applewood and asked if they would apply the trip charge to straightening the fins on the external unit that was damaged in a hail storm. The guy that came to do that did a fairly good job on the outside fins but did not straighten any of the bent fins on the inside of the coils. The charge was about $400. I decided to join Angie's List to find a better service provider the next time we needed A/C service.

Ryan was very professional, both in dress and manners, explained the issues that needed attention, and was able to complete the necessary repairs while he was here at my home. I totally appreciated this so I didn't have to arrange for another appointment. Can't say enough good things about both Ryan and Applewood. They are more expensive that some others; however, I've always had perfect service from them.
