Made an appointment with Sprinklers Inc. for the Comprehensive Sprinkler Tune Up. My current sprinklers just weren't doing the job that I wanted to see. On the day of my scheduled appointment, Taylor Hix the technician, called me that he was on his way about 15 minutes before, which I really appreciated. He was very professional and courteous. I explained to him what my situation was with low pressure and coverage. We discussed in detail what were possible solutions and proceeded to turn on each cycle. As he inspected each cycle he performed a pressure check. His recommendation was to swap out my existing ORBITS gear-driven rotators to Hunter MP Rotator / check valve heads, new indoor timer and rain sensor. He explained to me the benefits and up to 30% less water efficiency. He provided me a quote and I was a bit surprised of the cost for parts and installation. Quite honestly I wasn’t ready to spend that much. He also notified me that I could get a rebate from CS Utilities for all the equipment I purchased and could apply for the 12 months / no interest financing. After a week of contemplating and researching, I came to the decision that this was going to be an investment and hopefully it would help my low pressure problem. Made an appointment to get it done. On the day of the scheduled installation appointment, I received a call from Taylor again, and he notified me that he was on his way. As with the initial appointment, he was very courteous and profession. He first installed the new indoor timer and rain sensor. Then he spent a better part of a day digging out the old sprinklers and installing 27 new HP Rotors. Once completed, he adjusted all the sprayer heads for coverages and he showed me how to adjust the arc if I needed to change it. So far I am very happy with the new sprinklers and now have to see if there is a cost savings as they suggested. I did sign up for the service club for sprinkler blow-out and start-up. With my experience with Taylor, I would do business with Sprinklers Inc. again for repair work and give them a “A”. In regards to the pricing, it was a lot more than what I wanted to spend and would give them a “C”.

I had paid up front for a basic sprinkler maintenance. When they came out they said it would cost at least $800 to even begin the work. I found someone else who can do the same work for under $300.

This repair did not go very well. We purchased a home in Colorado Springs, about a year ago. We come from a region where irrigation systems are unnecessary, and I had little practical experience with them. In all fairness to the Sprinkler's Inc team, our valve manifold, which was spread over two adjacent valve boxes, was a Rube Goldberg cluster of PVC. The original failure involved a PVC tee, that just "blew out". The tech got right to work, dug up the box (129.00 charge for digging out the box... A bit steep, in my opinion, but not entirely unreasonable), and replaced the failed tee. He explained that the original tee had been a "hardware store" tee, and that this is why it failed (NOTE: I'd suggest to Sprinklers Inc that your techs probably shouldn't assume that everyone lacks materials knowledge... "Hardware store" tees... Assuming they're marked SCH-40 are required to meet the same ASTM requirements as tees from expensive irrigation repair companies...). Then... When he put pressure to the system, a threaded fitting in the downstream manifold stage blew out. The fitting appears to have been a PVC "close nipple" between the outlet on the tee and the valve... That particular tee was threaded... (like I said... Rube Goldberg...). He made a trip to the plumbing supply house (I was charged a 22.00 "trip fee"), and purchased ANOTHER PVC "close nipple" which he then threaded into the existing tee. I did get a "free" valve at this point (although I'm not sure it was brand new...). At this point, the owner arrived and someone apparently thought to check the pressure coming into the irrigation system on the house side of the backflow preventer. The pressure was reading 120 psi! Up to this point... I don't have much of a complaint. I think the work that was performed was slightly above market value in terms of cost, but I was OK with this. I don't agree with using a close nipple in this application! I had to return to the office, and asked the tech to contact me when he was finished. He calls and tells me about the overpressure issue, says "Don't turn the system on", and then tells me the total is 531.00 (I'm not sure how they got this number, as it looks like I actually got a discount on top of my "club" discount). I tell the tech that I'll settle up with the office on Monday... It's 6 PM on a Friday, and I want to have a look at the work before I pay the bill. I stop by the HW store on the way home to pick up a pressure gauge to check the water pressure. I get home... Test the water pressure, and sure enough... 120+ PSI throughout the house! I replace both of our pressure regulators on Saturday morning. Set the pressure at 60 PSI. Start up the irrigation system. All seems well. By the next afternoon, the tee with the close nipple, fractures along the entire length of the body, and we're back where we started. The following weekend, I sit down with a mechanical cad system, design, and build, a new manifold assembly, dig the boxes out, completely replace the assembly *and* all of the valves, for about 350.00. The system is back in service, and working much better than it did before I ripped it out and replaced it. Flow is improved, and I have individual flow control over each of the valves. For all of this back story... Here's where I have a problem what happened. (1) I was charged 531.00 for effectively diagnosing that I had an overpressure problem (my neighbor has since told me that the previous owner probably set the pressure this high because he was dissatisfied with how well the irrigation system was working. This is consistent with other lunacy we've seen in this house, so I'm certainly not blaming Sprinkler's Inc for the overpressure problem. The previous owner, by all accounts, was an idiot...) (2) The exact replacement of the close nipple is, however, what caused the failure after the repair. It's clear that the close nipple was torqued into the tee VERY hard... In the end, this, coupled with an aged tee (I'm being a little generous here... PVC, when not exposed to UV or high temperatures, tends to last for about a billion years...) was the primary cause of the secondary failure. This is squarely the fault of Sprinkler's Inc. (3) Nothing was fixed! My goal was to restore my irrigation system to an operational state! If the tech had taken a look at the valve/manifold assembly, and said "good lord... That's a bloody mess... For 1500.00, I'll just install an entirely new manifold assembly, and have you back in business within a few days!", there's a pretty good chance I'd have given him the thumbs up... No option like this was ever presented. The original estimate was 335.00... I suspect the overall goal was to keep the Rube Goldberg contraption in place, because this would, in the end, yield more repair work... In the end, when I account for parts *and* my time, I spent much more than 1500.00 to repair the system. The fact that I no longer need external, and very costly, maintenance calls, will hopefully justify the expense (it's been done right, this time). I've tried to write a fair review here. The techs were all very professional, and I certainly don't mean to imply that I was really ripped off, in any way. I do think Sprinkler's Inc is about 15-20% over market price on almost everything. I was willing to let this go, because the techs seem to be on the ball. I do feel like the objective here wasn't really to make a long term lasting repair to my irrigation system but was, rather to put a bandaid on a problem so that future service calls would be more likely. This is made even more obvious by their tiered pricing structure (vs. a straight parts/labor model). Not unethical, but not a business model that really works for me. Given that every tech that's been in the valve boxes has remarked that they recognize Sprinkler's Inc's use of "blue tubing", I'm led to assume that Sprinkler's Inc was partially involved in creating the cluster of band-aids to start with. There isn't any more blue tubing in my valve boxes. I'm sure there are folks that are fine with paying 500-1000/year for irrigation system maintenance, but I'm not... If you are someone that subscribes to this kind of service model, then Sprinkler's Inc is a good choice. I expect a repair to be, well, a repair... I expect to pay for itemized parts and labor, vs. a "level 5" repair. and... I expect repair to be an exception, rather than a regularly occuring event inspired by poorly executed prior repair work.

Daniel seemed knowledgeable about basic sprinklers stuff. But every opportunity is seized upon to sell really expensive unneeded services and hardware. The first thought was always to jump to a 500 - 1000 repair or replace. They seem to only want the quick easy work, and strive to drive the homeowner into much more expensive and unnecessary repairs, such as "oh, you need to retrench the whole yard and replace all the lines." or "it must be your Master Valve from the city, that's $500." The problem was eventually a line pinched by a tree root. I called other sprinkler repair services after getting their estimate and got it repaired for just a hundred dollars.

Excellent. Daniel did an excellent job on evaluating our system. He found some problems with water flow and suggested a plumber evaluation. I will get that done. He did a thorough job and I expect once the water flow problem is solved I will have a much better system. I will definitely use American Sprinkler to bring the system up to par.

Did a great job adjusting heads and rotors for proper coverage. I use Sprinkler's Inc. for Sprinkler Blowout and Startup. My only question was whether the Sprinkler startup came with a review of the coverage of the sprinklers. Seems like that may have been missed in the startup service. Great company with a great crew, but I will ask next startup to make sure I have proper coverage. Because the home is a rental I am not present at service so hard to ask the follow up questions when service is rendered. I will keep using Sprinklers Inc and recommend them to others. Rated B for Responsiveness because I ordered the service on Angie's List and did not hear back from them for several business days. I ended up calling and this prompted them to schedule the service.

Their appointment system was down all day did not show on the first appointment. They were apologetic and came out next day on time. Fixed two sprinkler heads and did start-up, which made sure they were working. They did a superb job and I liked how they take pride in work. Did sign up for a one year deal which will also cover blow out for $170. Will probably do landscape with them as well.

They fixed what I needed them to. However, when they were downstairs, there are two control units and they simply never turned the second one to on. I thought it was a warm summer and that's why the alarm died. However, in the end it was simply because they never turned it to on. I am not such a big fan right now. I paid extra for the one year deal that they had. I would warn others because in the end, they are going to be expensive when you have to make sure they did it right.

I called to check on the price and schedule an appointment. I scheduled an appointments and then they wanted me to prepay for the service which wasn't available for a week. I wanted a sprinkler blowout. They advised that would be $84. This is nearly double what it should cost, but I need it done soon. I figured to schedule and shop around and cancel if I could get a better price but keep the appointment if not. They told me to call back if I was serious about scheduling an appointment since I wouldn't prepay for the service. I then declined to even consider their services. Then found a reputable company to do it for $45. Don't use this company for blowouts!!!!. Rude and overpriced.

The sprinkler repairman arrived when scheduled and spent several hours working on my lawn. He was very thorough and honest. The cost of $650 is higher than it sounds due to the fact that over half of the bill was the cost of parts. The labor was approximately $250 + $400 in parts. I think this is a reasonable price. I would highly recommend this company to prospective customers.

Called Sprinkler's Inc. to do normal sprinkler maintenance of my 12 year old system. Jerome came out to do the repairs. He was punctual and courteous. He cleaned and aligned my sprinkler heads and then set to repair a zone that would work periodically. After much trouble shooting, he finally discovered a wire that was only partially attached. Once he discovered that, he quickly made the repair and the system worked quite well! I was grateful for his work, tenacity, and trouble shooting skills because I have had this issue (one zone only working periodically) for awhile. The only thing that took be back a bit were the prices they charge for some of their repairs. In my opinion, a little high. Luckily, mine was just a wire thing and it didn't cost too much. Thanks Jerome!!!! Sincerely, Paul B.
