I bought the deal and I scheduled it for 3/24/12. When they came out they said that I taller ceilings and they needed to bring a taller ladder. The guy highlighted that I was getting a really good deal because they would normally charge around $600 to do this job since I have a two-story home and in one area the ceiling is open to the second floor. They were only able to schedule for 5/11/12. They were supposed to be here at 8am but I got the call at 11am and the guy said the scheduler didn?t make sure that he had the bigger ladder on his truck. So, we had to reschedule again for 5/14/12. On the third time he called back and said that they couldn?t find the ladder and told me to call and get my money back.

This was a terrible experience. The day prior to our cleaning appointment, I phoned to speak with a supervisor regarding whether or not I needed to provide protective coverings for the railings and baseboards in our home because these had just been primed and painted. I was assured that two individuals would be on the job, on of whose "entire mission" was to ensure the hose stayed clear of any railings, walls, etc. On the day of the appointment, one of the individuals showed up late. It turned out he was the lead on the job. He proceeded to try and up-sale my husband before even beginning the job. Part way through, the lead man began spending a lot of time on his cell phone. The other individual called him on it. The two then had a heated and loud argument in the middle of the living room. Hardly professional. Much to my dismay, the new railings were, indeed, scraped. The walls were also scuffed. An expensive and lengthy paint job trashed. When I came to the house and confronted the lead man about the damage, he was surly and insolent. He said that if I "really thought is was HIM that did the damage I should call his supervisor, " because "they'll just pay you off to avoid problems." However, he continued to deny that they were responsible for the damage. I did call his supervisor--not any easy thing to accomplish, either. We were told they'd pay for the damage and refund the price of the "deal." After this conversation, the lead man was overly apologetic and contrite. He asked me to please not complain more, as he was worried he lose his job. Ridiculous. In the end, our painter fixed the damage as a favor to us. I didn't pursue anything with Cooper as I had a newborn and a household move to concentrate on. Ultimately, they were more trouble than it was worth. I will note that we subsequently had a furnace company out to price a new furnace. During that inspection, etc., he noted that our vents "were in need of a cleaning..." Cooper is a terrible company. They concentrated more on up-selling more than doing the actual job--let alone doing it WELL. They exhibited little to no professionalism throughout our encounter. We will never use them again. We will always recommend against them to anyone we speak to about their type of work. I'll also never buy another Angie's Deal. The businesses don't seem to be well vetted.

The job was done well, expertly, and with quality. I really liked the installers and they were very easy to work with and conducted themselves professionally. The only reason I lowered the score a notch was that the installer who did the job over the sink did not adequately prepare the area, and I was left with a lot of drywall dust and particles in the sink and surrounding area. I asked them to let me clean it up since I wanted to use a hose to get the debris out of the garbage disposal. I also found after they left that some piece of metal (ladder hinge) had rubbed on the lip of our new porcelin sink, leaving stains. 20 minutes of scrubbing by me got most of the metal stain off. Otherwise, I would have no hesitation hiring this company again, and I appreciated the fair price they charged!
Description of Work: Following a good experience with the installation of a whole house surge protector by Cooper, I had the guys come back and install two ceiling lights in our kitchen and a light bar in the bath. One of the lights was a conversion to a recessed light from a surface mounted light that was over our kitchen sink.

The service man arrived right on time, introduced himself, put on his protective shoe covers and started to work. He was very personable and professional throughout the time he spent with us. The service man did a very thorough inspection of the unit in the basement and the ouside unit. We have a humidifier attached to the unit, so he checked its operation and connections. Being a record heat day, he had no problem cycling the unit on and off multiple times to verify that the thermostat and compressor were functioning as they shold be. He did discover that the condensate drain line had never been attached properly, so he proceeded to glue the pipe fittings together. That should take care of the occasional water on the floor that we have been finding. There was no question that he knew what he was doing, and we are confident that we are going into the summer with a well checked-out A/C system. We are happy with the value of the service we received, using our "Big Deal" coupon for service, and we will keep the Cooper service number on hand for the next time we need service. Hopefully, that won't be until we call them to do a pre-winter check of the furnace. It is a nice feeling to have a trusted provider of heating and A/C on-call.
Description of Work: Cooper provided a pre-summer A/C check and tune up from an Angie's List "Big Deal" coupon. They checked coolant levels, air flow, coil and unit cleanliness, thermostat operation and condenser operation. The serviceman found a leaky condensate drain due to the drain pipes having never been glued together, and he pointed it out, then he glued the pipes together properly.

We just could not be happier with the level of great service we received from Cooper at every step of this job! Introduced to Cooper through CostCo - they run specials for members. Definitely worth the money to sign up for CostCo's Executive Level membership to get 2% cashback from CostCo on the services through Cooper. John Dineen was our salesperson who did the estimate. Estimate scheduled quickly, and at our convenience. Showed up in Cooper uniform shirt and wore booties on shoes just to do the estimate. Total estimate time took about an hour-and-a-half. Brought brochures of various models of furnaces & a/c units -- all Energy Star rated. No hard sell, did not try to push the most expensive or more expensive models (in fact, suggested that top of the line was probably overkill for our needs). Installation scheduled immediately as soon as we signed the deal, and within 1 week (again, at our convenience). Installers (Michael Sr. & Michael Jr., a father/son team) showed up exactly on time, again in Cooper uniform shirts, with booties on their shoes. All service personnel were extremely courteous about keeping our house neat, closing the door behind them, checking with us about whether our cats were at risk to get out -- just so friendly and polite! Work done fast, quietly, knowledgeably. When the licensed electricians showed up to connect the a/c, we discovered that the initial estimate was flawed. Our existing electrical panel could not handle the a/c as the estimator thought it could. No problem for Cooper! The electrician went out to HomeDepot, got a new sub-panel, and installed it quickly. Our salesperson called me to get permission beforehand, explain what was happening -- and confirm, of course, NO CHARGE for the extra work! Cooper stands by its promise that the price on the estimate is guaranteed. If they underscope the job and have to do extra, they eat the cost. The furnace installed had a mechanical problem right out of the box (no fault of Cooper's -- this happens). They had to reschedule to come out a second time to fix it. Cooper was kind enough to send a service tech to our home after work in the evening so we didn't have to take a second day off work to accommodate their schedule. The fifth service person also showed up exactly on time, in uniform, booties on his shoes, was really friendly to introduce himself to our cats, and again just could not have been more polite, quiet, worked quickly. This was one of the best service experiences I've ever had. I won't hesitate to sing the praises of this company to anyone who asks. You can bet we'll call them again for anything in their realm of expertise. P.S. As a follow-up, I scheduled the inspection from the City of Westminster about a month after the installation. The systems passed inspection with no problems. Further, the City of Westminster building inspector told me that he always breathes a sigh of relief when he sees the Cooper name on a scheduled inspection. The inspector told me Cooper always does great work, and the inspectors know it will be an easy inspection rarely with any problems.

We were going to have our air ducts cleaned but they were so bad that we ended up replacing them and putting in a new efficient furnace. I called Cooper Heating and Cooling as a result of the duct cleaning coupon on Angie's list. They called before they came to give me a head's up, which was greatly appreciated since I had forgotten all about it. John and TJ put drop cloths down before doing any work and were very careful to keep my house clean. I saw pictures of the ducts before cleaning and they made sure the ducts were cleaned out. It is a very noisy process, but I stayed in the house the entire time since it was a Saturday. The ducts were filled with a huge amount of pieces of drywall and trash from the builders, so I am very glad I had this done. They noticed the humidifiers in my house and suggested a furnace-attached humidifier, which I had been wanting, and I had it installed while they were here. I am very happy with the experience and especially glad I now have a humidifier on my furnace and no longer have to mess with the little room machines. John and TJ were profession, polite, clean, and very informative regarding all their activities.
Description of Work: John and TJ from Cooper Heating and Air cleaned out the duct system in my townhouse, taking pictures of the process to demonstrate how the duct cleaning worked. They installed a humidifier system to my furnace (in addition to the $249) and also cleaned out the dryer vent.

A great experience. 2 electricians showed up on time and replaced 5 outlets. They tested each outlet and found one did not trip when tested, so they replaced it again and retested to ensure it was working perfectly. Even though one outlet was very challenging to replace due to space limitations, they did not refuse to do the work or request additional service charges. Bottom line -- they did everything they were supposed to do and did it well. We discussed changes to the aluminum wiring in my house and I was given several alternatives to saving money when doing the work. I will definitely call Cooper when I am ready to have that work done.

I have to admit I didn't expect great things for a $129.00 whole house surge suppressor installation. But these guys did a fantastic job! I purchased the Angie's Big Deal on Monday and the job was completed on my schedule two days later. The two guys were right on time, wore shoe protection, when through the work plan with me, did a very high quality installation, and completely cleaned up after the job was complete. WOW... Some deals can come with pressured upgrades to the original deal, not this one, very professional. I asked for a bid on a sub panel installation, and they gave me a very reasonable bid while they were there... Cooper will be getting this job too. Thanks for being so professional! We received a free in-home estimate. Due to all of the incentives they were offering, coupled with the warehouse company's guarantee, we decided to go with Cooper. The installation was done approximately a week after the estimate. The installation was 90% done in one day. The installers were professional, and took care to not damage the walls or flooring as they moved equipment inside. They also took care to keep my floors clean, since the install was on a very rainy day. There was a minor electrical issue, and the electricians had to come back on another day to complete. Since the installation was done on a rainy day with temps in the 40s, we could not turn on the AC unit until the weather was better. This was the only time I got a little frustrated - we had a couple of attempts at an AC start up before the weather could cooperate, and the guys could come out to turn on the AC. It was late May by this time, but in our area it was hot one day followed by a freezing day. By the time winter kicked in, we could that the humidifier that was installed was not up to par. I called for service, and the technician came out (who happened to be one of the original installers) said that the humidifier was just too small to humidify the house. I was irked that this wasn't mentioned during the estimate or the installation. Because of this, I asked the technician if they would upgrade to a better model based on the oversight. The technician said yes, but the Luke from the office initially said no. However, he did come around, and offered to send out some guys to replace the humidifier with the next size up for free! We were thrilled, and now the humidifier is working well.
Description of Work: We purchased a high-efficiency furnace and AC unit. The furnace was a replacement, and the AC was brand new to the home. Since we purchased this through a national membership warehouse company, we received a humidifier and touch-pad thermostat as part of the warehouse's promotion. We are pleased with the equipment purchased. The AC unit is so quiet we don't hear it. We hear our neighbor's more than our own!

Soon after I purchased the 'coupon', I called Cooper Heating/Cooling/Electrical. They returned my call very promptly, and immediately offered me some dates for service. They called the morning of the install, and let me know when they were 30 minutes out. The electrician, BJ, was prompt, let me know exactly what he was doing, and cleaned up all the left over wire and parts. He matched the existing outlets with the new ones, and was very skilled at changing them. I would heartily recommend Cooper Heating again. This was a great value, and great service.
Description of Work: This townhome was built in 1978 and was never upgraded with GFI outlets in the kitchen and bathrooms. Both bathrooms, and kitchen sink outlets were replaced.

Called main office when duct cleaners did not show up at 9AM as scheduled. Some confusion between main office and duct cleaners due to their truck sliding off road due to first snowfall and explained they would be late. After several calls, main office was going to be reschedule appt but then technicians called and said they would in fact come late if that was OK. Arrived around 1PM. Once they arrived they explained in detail how and what they would do. Due to my misinterpreting Angie's List offer of air duct cleaning for $249, lead technician explained that price was for only one system and house has two. I agreed to pay same price for second system since duct system had never been cleaned since house was built in 2001. They brought equipment into basement/lower floor and explained function of each piece they would use and then proceeded to spread materials to protect floor and carpeting. Lead technician very knowledgeable and courteous and seemed very proud of what he was doing. Duct cleaning went as programmed except it took longer than expected because of how the two heating/AC systems are split vertically in house rather than one system for each of two floors. Offered to clean and inspect operation of both gas furnaces for a reduced price and I agreed. Also provided helpful hints on maintaining furnaces/ACs and duct system. Cleaned clothes dryer duct for free due to late arrival. Completed project around 6 PM and departed. Very personable and professional crew. Very satisfied with work!
Description of Work: Air duct cleaning of two entire heating/AC systems; cleaned, then checked both gas furnaces for operation; cleaned dryer vent. Also offered info on upgrading one system to a high efficiency furnace when I asked about it.

The guys that came out to the house were nice young men and did a good job. They did show up 2 hours later then scheduled and then didnt get started til 45 minutes after arriving b/c they had to fill oil into one of their machines. I got a great deal off of Angies list for the air ducts but the guys charged me a radiculous amount to clean my dryer vent $80. What made me even more annoyed is that I asked the guys about how much longer they had before they were finished and they mentioned only 30-45 minutes b/c the dryer vent cleaning would take "ONLY 10 MINUTES"!!!! This makes me apprehensive about using Cooper in the future b/c it appears they get themselves in the door with great pricing and then hike the prices up for basic services.

It would seem a simple job - not one which took so many hours of our calling and 4 months to finish. Initially, the wrong type of thermostat was installed, not tested, then a couple of weeks later removed as it didn't work. Our old thermostat was also taken back to the shop. Several weeks later, the technician called to ask for information about the company, model number and any other information we could find re. the floor. He said he would call them to get the right kind, then he would call us. We called to him several weeks later and he said the flooring company was 'being difficult". When at least 3 weeks went by we called him again he said he would look online for the correct model of thermostat. Several more weeks we called him again and gave him the info WE had found online - it took us one keyword search to get this info. Several more weeks of no information we again called the company. The technician apparently was in Mexico and would be back in a few days, which turned into over a week as his car broke down. When he returned he said he would order the unit that day and be in touch. A week later we called the company and asked for the manager (again). The unit had not been ordered so the company ordered it then and it would take approx 3 days to receive. A week later we called and the unit had just arrived and a technician came out that day to install. Even though this company knew we were very frustrated with the technician (many calls and speaking with different people in the office) they kept giving the responsibility back to this guy. We finally had to say we didn't want to deal with this tech any more. We'd like to sincerely thank the owners of Cooper Heating & Cooling for their prompt and honest response to our service problems. Upon reading our Angie's LIst report Gary called us personally to apologize. They also sent a letter with a full refund and a gift certificate. Even more important they have talked to their employees about this incident. Our previous work with this company has always been prompt and professional and we can see why they have an A rating. After this follow-up we will certainly use and recommend Cooper's in the future. Even though we regretted having to file this negative report with Angie's List we felt we had to express our frustrations in some way. We hope the "A" we have now given them will encourage prospective customers to read and understand how this company is responsive to their customers' needs.
Description of Work: Our first call to this company was in July 20, 2011 and we just had the service finished last week - November 16, 2011! With the exception of the last few weeks neither the company or technician followed up or called us as promised. We have successfully used this company for over 8 years but will not use them again. Trying to get a new thermostat for our heated floor we first asked if they could provide this service and were told 'yes'. Cooper's first visit was end of July 2011. The main issue was to find the correct type of thermostat as the original one was no longer being made. Finding and installing the thermostat was the service required.
