I look this company up from Angie's List and got the special. There was no pressure to add service. This is for the property I rent and they took time to explain the whole process with the family and me as well. They were on time, very good and friendly. I needed a part which they replaced and it was quick and I have had no problems out of the unit.
Description of Work: Check out heater and replaced a part. Very good service.

We bought a modular last year. The furnace was upstairs in a tiny compartment. There were the bare minimum of cold air returns. Cooper Heating took out the old furnace, replaced it with a new energy efficient Trane and installed it in the basement where it should be. They also installed a new Trane Air Conditioner. They cut in all the new cold air returns that were needed. They made the minimum of debris but cleaned up after themselves, basically leaving the house as they found it. We were not living in the house at the time as we were having many new projects done by out contractor. When Cooper was done, my husband and I took a tour of what they had done. We were both very impressed with their work. The price was comparable with other companies we checked with. We would hightly recommend them.
Description of Work: Cooper Heating replaced our non-efficient furnace with a highly efficient Trane. Installed the new furnace in the basement, took out the old furnace. They also installed a new Trane air conditioner.

The service person came in and cleaned out the vent. He saw that the connection to the outside was not up to code and replaced it!

Cooper showed up and introduced themselves. I walked them around the side of the house and they did their work. Real quick job. Explained how to tell with the red and green lights if it has been tripped and to call them if it did, that it would need to be replaced. In and out, very quick. I would not sure them again though, because I used them for the Duct Cleaning special and that was a disaster. Plus, I found Applewood Plumbing, Heating and Electrical through another Big Deal. Those guys are great, professional, clean and efficient and I have used them for everything in their name.

Two workers showed up on time to do the duct cleaning. According to the "Deal" they were supposed to take before and after pictures of my ducts. That did not happen. I should have said something. Our ducts have not been cleaned since the house was built in early 1976. Their collection bag, when I felt it, seemed empty. To me this means that either they did not clean properly or that duct cleaning really is the scam I have been told it is. Since the cleaning trashed the furnace filter, they replaced it. After they were gone, I looked and saw that they replaced a 20x20x1 filter with a 24 by something by 1" filter. They bent it and stuffed it in. When I called they offered to replace it but we had already done that. I, also, paid for them to replace all the heat vents in the house. Three were not measured correctly and I was told they could not get the correct size and would refund the cost of those 3 vents. Six months later I have not seen a check. My husband bought the correct size at Home Depot and put them in. So much for their not being available. The employee who came out and installed the vents (he was not the one who measured them originally, by the way) was super and did a very good job. Everyone else I dealt with was polite and enthusiastic but that's the best I can say for them.
Description of Work: The service performed was air duct cleaning. One employee cut a hole in the furnace and sucked through that hole into a bag while another employee went to the various heat vents and pushed some kind of a brush down them.

It's a tough one to judge. They were polite and professional. Did leave some mess around the furnace area (metal shards from drilling holes). They discovered that some of our returns were painted over and asked if they could remove them to clean. I said yes so long as they used a blade to get a clean separation from the wall paint. They didn't, leaving those return covers with a ragged edge. As for the quality of the duct cleaning itself, I can't really judge it. Seems fine.

Plumb Pros looked at my unit, then recommended a new furnace and wrote a bid for about $5,000. They also suggested I get a new air conditioner, etc, etc. Then, I called Cooper Heating and Cooling for a second bid. They fixed the furnace in about 20 minutes for $400 and now it runs like a charm. Here's the kicker: The part that Cooper replaced to make my furnace run properly? It was an incorrect ignition part that Plumb Pros installed last year. My Tech was Brenton, and he did an incredible job. I will call again.
Description of Work: My furnace was not running consistently. After Plumb Pros came to troubleshoot my furnace, I called Cooper Heating and Cooling for a second opinion.

Our heater broke down around 11pm on a Sunday night. I think I left them a message and they called back fairly promptly. Their on-call fee for overnight repairs was very costly (compared to 2 other companies we called whose fees were $50 to $100 cheaper). They were honest with me on the phone that they might not have the part in stock that was probably needed to fix our heater. So using them would mean paying a lot of money up front with a good chance we would not have our heater fixed. I would not use them again because of cost and the fact that they did not have a fairly standard part that other companies had in stock.
Description of Work: We did not have any service performed - only an estimate on the phone.

First, I want to extend my gratitude to you for pointing out in your review that we were honest with you. It is this honesty and integrity that has separated Cooper Heating & Cooling from the competition for three and a half decades in an industry where such things are often not held in very high regard. There are many companies who will tell you everything you want to hear in the middle of the night as well as offer you an artificially low on-call fee to get their foot in the door, because once they do they know they will be able to command whatever fee they want. This trick is as old as the HVAC industry itself and I sincerely hope that you did not fall victim to one of these companies. Second, when you call Cooper Heating & Cooling in the middle of the day, the middle of the night, on the weekends or on Christmas Day, you will always be met with a fair and honest quote. Our unquestionable ethics are what have lead us to an A rating on Angie's List and an A+ rating with the Better Business Bureau. For our technician to tell you that he was 100% sure that he had the part on his truck that you needed in the middle of the night would have been for our technician to tell you a lie, which would have resulted in his loss of employment and permanent scar on our excellent reputation. It is impossible for any service vehicle to stock every possible HVAC part for over 50 manufacturers. Any company that tells you this isn't so is not being honest with you. Please let me know if there is anything further that I can do to restore your faith in Cooper Heating & Cooling, Your Green Team. Furnace failed to start and could tell from my own troubleshooting that something was (likely) wrong with a relay (Vent/exhaust motor would start but main blower wouldn't start). Talked with service technician David the day prior to the repair (the schedule was full until the following afternoon) who thought it sounded like the run capacitor. On inspection during the repair call the next day turned out to be both the run capacitor and a relay on the main circuit board necessitating replacement of both. Service was good and prompt. Didn't shop the repair around so can't comment fully on the price (hence the B) but overall very good and wouldn't hesitate to use again.

After extensive research and several bids, we hired Cooper to install a new high-efficiency furnace and evaporative cooler. We hired them because their prices were better, and the reviews we had read were almost all very good. Also, when the first representative came to our home to make the bid, we were impressed by the emphasis he put on customer satisfaction. We made an appointment, they showed up on time, the work was done as painlessly as possible, with only one small hitch involving our needing to call a plumber for a related but not-emergency drain cleaning for the hot water heater. It took 2 teams one day to complete both projects. Clean-up was fine, and the workmen were all polite and helpful. The furnace works great, and we look forward to a much cooler summer next year. We would certainly hire Cooper again!

They where very efficient putting it in, left the house immaculate, and where generally very low profile and professional. They did forget to turn the hot water back on at the end of day 1 but where there promptly next day to sort that out once notified. Paperwork etc very timely and made sure we where aware of all rebates etc.

We move into a new town house a little over a year ago. We just thought because it was much smaller then our last place that the heater and A/C was just nosier and there wasn't much we could do about it. It was very annoying and so I did some research on the Internet that lead me to believe that it could/should not be so loud. I then check on Angie's list for the best people to talk to. I called Cooper Heating and Cooling and explained the problem and what I had learned from my Internet research. They sent a technician over the net day. We talked and looked at the furnace setup in the basement. He said he had some ideas but wanted to talk to some other people back at the office. He called me back and set up a date to return to do the work. When showed up to do the work he explained the because Cooper H/C had been the contractor for some of the homes in our new subdivision, his boss said to fix it under warranty - FREE. Even though it was installed "according to specifications" whey would rather fix it and have a satisfied customer. Our heater is much quieter now and seems to be more efficient as well.
Description of Work: Cooper changed some of the cold air return vents so the heating system was much quieter.

The company installed a whole house surge protector. They were here exactly on time, completed their work in less than 30 minutes, spent the necessary time to show me where the surge protector was, how to determine if it is working, and walked me through the manual. I would use their services again.

When they finally came to do the service it seemed they did a good job, however they cancelled on me two times before showing up on the third time. I had to take time off work and they cost me that vacation time which I'll never get back. If I hadn't purchased the coupon I probably would have called someone else after they cancelled, the same day BTW, the second time.

Needless to say, Cooper Heating & Cooling did not acquire its reputation for customer service excellence over 35 years by missing or rescheduling appointments. After looking into your account I found that we needed to reschedule the two appointments because we were over capacity with emergency calls from clients whose air conditioning was not working at all due to record heat waves this summer. This is not your fault and I am very sorry that we had to reschedule. I will be refunding your $59.00 and with your permission would be very happy to provide the precision tune-up for your air conditioner next year at no charge. Went well except for the scheduling issues and the delay in venting completion.
Description of Work: Installed new furnace, air conditioner, and fast recovery water heater. Did a quality job of installation, but problems coordinating the schedules of the different craftsmen (plumber, electrician, and installers). Did not have all of the venting materials and I had to call them a couple of times to get the job completed.

I had Cooper come out and do and inspection on the A/C in the spring. Had asked them to check the drainage on the A/C. Later in the summer I had water flowing down the front of the furnace. Turns out there was mold/algae growing in the drain line blocking it. The tech, who was great, and I replumbed the drain line to keep the problem from happening again. Since they had missed the problem(easy to do when the a/c isn't on yet) they didn't charge me for the visit or the fix.
Description of Work: A/C drain line repair. A/C condenser was overflowing into the furnace. Found a blockage in the line and replaced it.

We were in the process of selling our house and we needed a new furnace installed before our closing date. After I called several companies to get quotes we chose Cooper because they had the best price and were available to do the job when we needed it done. They were always extremely nice and helpful whenever I called. We had to get through the permit process quickly because of the closing date. Sherry understood our urgency in getting the permit pulled and the job inspected in a timely manner. She called the town's office several times to check on the status and kept me informed along the way. The actual furnace install went very smoothly. The installers showed up on time, were very courteous and polite, and worked very diligently til the job was done.
Description of Work: Replaced an existing furnace with a new one and installed a new thermostat.
