A Better Garage Door

Mike called and kept me updating me when his worker would be here. Once he arrived he told me the problem and I really appreciated his approach and this gave me trust in his abilities. He completed the task and the work was done within 20 minutes! I will definitely use them again!

Excellent. He arrived on time, examined the door and gave me realistic estimate of what it would take to fix it. I approved and he was done in one hour. The door now moves silently and smoothly.

This provider did an excellent job. While he completed the deal that was purchased, he also educated me on the proper functioning of my garage door. He actually did a more inclusive job than anyone has ever provided when working on my garage door. I will definitely use him again.

The service they provided was the best I've received with the repair of a garage door. Our garage door has been worked on by multiple companies and constantly had issues. This is the first company that has actually corrected the problems; we've had no additional issues since this repair. In addition, he took the time to explain/educate me about some of the issues involving the "repair" that was completed previously. I definitely recommend this company.

From the time I called to the time it was completed, 3 1/2 hours. Couldn't ask for more. Joe arrived early, gave us a quote (10% discount for Angie's list members) and started work. Garage Door works better than before. Great Guys!

This was part of a remodel on my mom's house in order to sell it. The service was wonderful from start to finish.

Everything went smoothly from making the appointment to the service call. Mike was on time, called to let me know he had arrived and was at the garage door, and he gave me his card for the next tuneup.

-- Edited with update -- I am writing in regards to service provided on September 30, 2014 by XXX at xxxx. The service was initially to replace the springs, and then he identified the 'torsian bar drums' also required replacing. He also did a full tune-up. During the tune-up, I asked why he did not reattach the guard bar-rail to the garage door panel, and he explained that it wasn't necessary as it was attached at the ends and that was what mattered. He also was supposed to reattach the bolts that fell out that kept the panels connected to each other. The total bill was $445.00. The problem is that on November 7, 2014, my garage door opener broke. This is only about 6 weeks later, and the garage isn't used every day. I could not get a hold of A Better Garage Door because it is the weekend, though I left a message.I got someone else from another company to come check it out. Two of the bolts has come out, in only 6 weeks of occasional use! The new garage company explained there was a way to ensure you drill those bolts in correctly so that it will stay, but A Better Garage Door person obviously did not do that. And he checked out the motor to see if the garage opener could be fixed, but the motor had seized. He believes it is due to not being properly tuned based on the weight of the garage doors, as my doors are very heavy. That makes sense because A Better Garage Door person seemed to have a lot of problems while working on my garage door (and it took all day for him to fix it, a lot longer than it should have taken). Another problem now is that the guard rail for the wheels is very loose on one end, and the tracks are mis-aligned. A proper tune of a garage only 6 weeks ago that is only occasionally used should not have brought the garage door into this much disarray, which caused the opener motor to seize and break. -- The above is the basics of the email I sent to the company, plus a request for almost-the-cost of replacing the garage door opener and a new tune-up based on the premise that it wasn't done correctly originally causing these new faults to occur. A Better Garage Door responded within 24 hours and on Sunday (they don't work weekends I believe) stating that they will give a refund check. In that regards, I have updated my ratings to reflect that the company at least takes care of their mistakes.

Mike was awesome! He showed up as promised and completed the work with excellence. There was some additional work that needed to be done. He showed me the problems and gave me a decent on-the-spot price to knock it out. The garage door runs like new! Thanks Mike!!

I called them in the morning and they came out that afternoon. Their promptness was appreciated since we couldn't really use the garage. Mike, the technician, was courteous and efficient. Our two car garage now opens much more quietly, than it did before. I will use them again.

I highly recommend A Better Garage Door. They scheduled the work to fit our schedule on short notice. The tech arrived exactly on time and completed his work efficiently, cleaned up and was totally courteous throughout the project. He was also kind enough to loan me a tool for another project I was working on at the time. It is so nice to work with someone who actually does what they say will do.

I was having problems with my garage door sometimes not closing. The door would start to close and then reverse and stay open. I also knew that the springs, which were 12 years old, were at the end of their life and the door would come crashing down if you tried to close it manually. I first purchased their garage door tune up special offer. When trying to schedule around my crazy schedule, they either answered the phone right away or called me back within 15 minutes. They arrived right on time and confirmed what I suspected which was that I was going to need new springs. What I really appreciated from them was that they did not try and up sell me what I did not need. My cables, bearings and rollers were all serviceable and they agreed. Since I had already purchased a tune up, they gave me discounted price on the springs which was fair and reasonable. After the service the door was nicely balanced and was much smoother in operation than I ever could remember. My opener was at the end of its life and they could have tried to sell me on a new opener, but instead told me that I could elect to rebuild it when the time comes. Since my bedroom is directly above the garage I told them when the time comes to replace the current opener, I will go for the premium most quite opener available. They gave me information on an opener that would meet my expectations and gave me a quote for the service. About a month after I have the door serviced, I decided to bite the bullet and get the silent opener. Again they came right on time and quickly replaced my noisy old chain opener for a silent DC motor belt drive system. Every time I open the garage door now I marvel at how silent this opener is. I'm amazed and my only regret is not doing it sooner. These guys are professional, punctual, do a great job and are fairly priced. I probably won't need service from them for a while, but these guys are the only ones I'll use from now on.

The service went fine as per my understanding. The person was very couterous but on 9/20 (Saturday morning) the chain got torn off from the lever above the motor. Before the servicing was done the chain was fine though a bit loose. I am guessing that the person tightened up the chain a bit too much due to which the chain lever is now ripped off and damaged. I called them on Sat -9/20 (they were closed) and Mike called me back on Monday morning (9/22) morning but he did not acknowledge the issue but rather blamed it on the equipment, and advised charges to fix it. I think this is being unprfessional and failing to acknowledge that they did mess it up in the servicing.I hope they take ownership and resolve the issue at no cost to me.

When we called the company directly to get some more information, they said that we did not have to do it online, and they would give us the same Angie's List discount, although we called them directly. We have a 3 car garage, but just 2 doors, and so we paid for 2 doors. The experience was good, we would use them again. The person was knowledgeable, and he was prompt. This was the first time we used them. We also liked that they left their sticky lable on the garage door. I thought that was a good idea, because the next time we go to look for them, it will be very convenient. The person was very knowledgeable about the 19 year old system that we have.

I was having a problem with the door stopping half way down. The tech fixed that and then checked and adjusted other parts of the door. Lubricated the door. Answered all of my questions. Was very professional. I definitely would use again.

Identified and resolved issues for a reasonable price

Mike arrived on time. He was pleasant and knowledgeable. He tightened the bolts, lubricated the rollers, hinges, and chain, and adjusted the tension on the springs. I would definitely call him again if the garage door opener should need a tune up, repair, or replacement.

Within two hours of making contact with the provider via Angie's List I had received an email reply from the provider. The next morning I received a call asking if they could do the work that day. The serviceman arrived near the end of the suggested appointment window, but began work immediately. Completed all of the work within two hours. Both doors work much beet, and the quality of the parts used was good, and the the serviceman man was professional and courteous.

Mike answered the phone when I called on Wednesday and we scheduled the evaluation and repair for Friday afternoon. Early Friday morning, Mike called and asked to reschedule to an earlier time. That worked out great for both of us. He arrived, performed the evaluation of my garage door and the opener. He told me that the pulleys and springs were worn out and needed to be replaced. He than provided the estimate of work to be done. As he was performing the repairs, he discovered that the cables also need to be replaced, and he did so at no additional charge. Finally, just before he finished, I asked if the gasket on the door bottom could be replaced. It could, and he did.I would strongly recommend Mike and and quot;A Better Garage Doorand quot; to anyone. He is prompt, professional, and precise in his work. I called this company based on Angie's List reviews and I wasn't disappointed. Mike, the owner, answered all my questions, and pointed me to a site where I could see options for door designs. I selected three possible options and called him back for pricing. We negotiated everything by phone, including date of service. He had the door in stock and was able to have a crew at my house within the week. The install crew were polite, quiet, efficient, and answered the occasional question. This company is amazingly efficient and beat others pricing by a significant amount. I would highly recommend.

He explained everything very well, including maintenance I can do to minimize the need for future service. Many service outfits avoid those sorts of tips, hoping instead for more work for them. A Better Garage Door seemed much more interested in doing a thorough professional job! I am very happy and highly recommend them to anyone who wants an honest job by a real pro! We bought the house a year ago, and the garage door opener had supposedly been recently serviced. It seemed to work fine when we moved in but gradually got noisier and noisier, and I noticed the belt was not where it was supposed to be. Excellent, prompt and professional service. We had a broken garage door spring at 9:00 a.m. By 2:00 p.m. Joe was at our door and by 3:00 p.m., the spring was replaced. He also did a free inspection of the garage door opener/system, tightened bolts on the door, and lubed the system. The price was good and we were even given a 10% discount since we found the company on Angie's list. We would definitely use this company again and highly recommend them.

I had washed out the garage floor and apparently fried the circuits in the sensors so the garage door didn't work. Joe was here within 2 hours of my call and recognized the problem. He had spare sensors in his truck and replaced the old sensors. He also oiled the hinges and rollers and tightened bolts on the hinges of the door and noticed that two hinges were cracking and replaced them as well. All of this within the one hour service call time and reasonable cost for the replacement parts which he had in his truck.

Mark was on-time and professional. He provide explanation of steps he was taking and gave explanations to my questions. He also provide tips on things to look for in the future. I will definitely call him in the future.
