A Better Garage Door

I decided to go to Angies list to find someone to repair my garage door. After a few minutes of reviewing all of my options on your list, I decided to pick one within 10 miles, and A Better Garage Door came up first, they had a great rating so I gave Mike a call. He answered, was on his way home from his previous job, so he stopped by. He came in and inspected the work needed to be done, gave me an estimate, had all of the materials needed to complete the job, so I gave him the job. The spring had come undone (actually the mounting came out of the wall), so he used metal brackets to make it more stable and fix the problem. He also sprayed the tracks on both doors, checked the other door to be sure it was properly attached. i was so very pleased to have this taken care of so quickly and professionally done. I will call Mike again if I ever need my garage door fixed, and will gladly refer him to any of my friends and neighbors. Thank you Mike!

I talked with Mike and arranged for a service call the following day. Joe came out, actually showed up a little bit early, and was keen to start work quickly. We had originally called them to replace the torsion springs above the door that had broken. Based on how dangerous it can be to replace these, plus not knowing about sizing and type of springs needed, I wanted to leave this up to professionals. Joe replaced ours with some upgraded springs rated for a few thousand more cycles. Cool. $300 for prompt service and materials is a pretty good deal. This is where it got awesome, though. Joe was not satisfied with how the door was functioning. The opener was hitting the stops (it should come close, not hit them) and some of the panels were loose on the door itself. He adjusted the panels, adjusted the where the opener stops on the door, greased the tracks, recommended preventative maintenance for us, and told us what to watch out for in regards to rollers possibly needing replacement in a couple of years. He went way, way far above and beyond this service call, and we had him place one of the company's stickers above the door opener so that we would definitively call them if any future need arises. Would highly recommend A Better Garage Door, both for regular maintenance and for a quick break-fix job. Consider us very satisfied customers!

Joe came IMMEDIATELY in response to my phone call for garage door repair. After inspection, we discussed the costs and feasibility of repair vs. replacement of the garage door. We decided to purchase a new door from Joe and he showed us samples of colors to choose from. He explained the R Values and details of the different choices. Joe allowed us all the time we needed to make the color decision and offered helpful tips. We especially liked that he quoted the all-inclusive price to us without subsequently slipping in extra charges for components and/or services during the discussion. Joe made the garage door purchase easy and positive experience. Joe's non-pressure sales demeanor and appreciation for business from Angie's List customers made us feel appreciated.When the garage door arrived and an installation appointment was set, the two-man crew (Norm Jr. and Norm Sr.) worked efficiently and quickly installing our new garage door. They were knowledgeable and competent. Afterward, they explained the usage of and maintenance of our new door. We got new track, trim around the door and a bottom seal included and properly installed. We felt very comfortable with their work. Some exterior hardware had been omitted with the door when it was sent with the installers. So Mike, company owner, called the same day to set up an appointment for him to come personally to install it. He was patient with our schedules and extremely friendly and pleasant at the appointment. He inspected the door and installation and again explained the quality and maintenance and answered our questions. A Better Garage Door company personnel all exhibited happiness to have our business and we are very happy with their service!

This provider did a great job! Was able to come on the same day I called, arrived on time and installed a new motor, sensors and keypad all within an hour. Would definitely use in future.

This was done as an Angies' List deal. Serviceman showed up on time and serviced the garage door/motor. Previously the bulb vibrated itself to pieces every few weeks, but since the service the same bulb has lasted for months, which makes me think the service was long over due. So service exactly as advertized.

We had a spring broken and the door was unable to open. The door has been in service for hte past 20 years with just lubrication some repair done by me to the rails that guide the door due to bending.I contacted A better garage Door based on the ratings provided by Angie's list and his experience in repairing similar doors close to where I live on 1/13/2014. His response was immediate and we setup an appointment for next morning around 9:00AM for him to review and provide an estimate of repairs. He showed up at the appropriate time ready to do the repair based on the description of the problem that I provided. he mentioned that he will needed to replace the spring pairs since the door has two.Due to the construction of the door and the additional items I wanted fix, he ordered the materials and we agreed to have he door fixed after he received the material from the supplier on 1/17/2014 around 10;00AM. Mike the owner, showed up early than that and by 11:00AM the door was fixed and looked better than ever. He did a great job and I will certainly ask him to check the door when maintenance is required.

Tech arrived early. It was a very cold morning. Ascertained the problem, went to work, and was out quickly. I have observed people at work for years, this young man was extremely efficient, not making any unnecessary moves. He explained why springs broke and what he was doing as he went along. I was very impressed.

Great experience with the whole team. Mike, the owner, answered the phone when I called and scheduled me for an estimate. Joe arrived on time for the estimate. He spent a good 20 minutes measuring and describing to me what framing they would need to do. He helped me choose a door type, style and color that worked for my house. He advised me to hold on to my old carriage doors and to try to sell them because they had value. Joe's estimate was detailed so that I knew what I was spending on the door, the framing, and the opener. We booked an install date for the next week. The day of the install, Mike stopped by early to take a look at things and make sure he had all the right materials. Then Norm and Norm showed up exactly on time, and did a great job with the install. P.S. - I sold my old carriage doors for $300 about 15 minutes after posting them on a neighborhood site. We had a garage door that suddenly wouldn't open. At 5pm we called and Joe came the following morning @ 8:45am (15 min earlier than scheduled). The early arrival was great, as the wife and kids were stuck and couldn't leave the house until we got the door opened . After helping to get the door open so they could leave, Joe replaced our broken spring and worn parts in about an hour and half, and did a great job- tweaking a few other items and tightening bolts for no extra charge. We feared we might have to replace the door or opener initially, so it was nice to have an honest assessment of the issue, and at no point did he try to up-sell us on new equipment or a new door. He in fact informed us we had a solid opener and gave us tips on how to make our already old door last even longer. Great service and fast response, I highly recommend these guys.

We had a great experience working with this company from start to finish. Unlike several other companies that never returned our calls, we were able to speak with a representative right away. The company sent a representative out to give us an estimate, and he was thorough in reviewing our options and giving recommendations for replacing our old single-panel garage door. We ended up choosing an insulated faux wood grain door with windows that match our front entry. The new door looks great on our home. The company gave us an accurate estimate for the cost, and performed the work on time. We'd hire them again!

The experience was great. He fixed everything that need to be fixed. He also did not charge me because it did not take long to complete. I have used him before he installed a garage door and motor for me once before at a different location.

Fantastic, same day service. Called in the morning and they came out in the afternoon. Joe was great, worked hard, explained things well and did a perfect job. Our garage door is as quiet as a church mouse now and the door opens and closes more smoothly than I could even imagine it doing so. These guys are awesome!

My husband somehow put his car in neutral and it rolled backwards into our garage door, denting the door severely. When we couldn't get the garage door open at all (both cars were inside), I panicked, and checked Angies List. There were several choices, but A Better Garage Door had the statement on his site to call immediately for help if your cars are stuck inside the garage. I called around 10:30. Ryan came around 2:30 and removed and took away the inoperable door so we could get our cars out. Because it was a Friday they couldn't replace the door until Monday. Two men arrived Monday by 9 am, and installed a new door. Finished by noon. We got a 10% Angies List discount by printing out and showing them the coupon. I REALLY appreciated the speed with which this was handled. All three workers were knowledgeable, efficient, professional, and meticulous. I would absolutely recommend them with no hesitation.

Friday morning we realized the garage door was inoperable. I called at 6:45a, Mike called back a few minutes after 7a, and had someone out to the house by 8:45a. They quickly figured out the problem, had everything on the truck to make the repairs and had the conversion completed in a little more than a hour. i was impressed at how quickly things came together.

We were quite satisfied with the service from first contact to final installation. I'd recommend A Better Garage Door to all. Mike and Joe were helpful, courteous, and efficient.

Very nice. Very professional. Problem happened over holiday weekend and they called back and schedule service for Monday. Was very happy about that. The initial install had a problem but they came back and fixed it right away, at no charge. Works great and is so much quieter than our old garage door opener. We replaced our old chain opener with a belt opener. Our master bedroom is above the garage and this is a huge improvement in sound control. Our only complaint is the price. It was expensive. And I later discovered a discount on Angie's List that we could have used. I told the I found them on Angie's List and they didn't mention any discounts. At first I thought they were going to repair the door opener and to the offer off wouldn't apply. When we decided to replace it, I forgot that I had seen a discount on the site. I wish they had reminded me.

Joe showed on time, inspected the long overdue service door and advised against more expensive service that I expected. He did a lot of work on a big two-car door: tightened the springs, replaced all rollers and some of the hinges. A few weeks pass - the door works fine and one can only hear the motor sound when it opens
