Horrible experience and workmanship overall. Took over a month to install. I agreed to the long time frame because his BEST Fabricator was leaving on an extended vacation. I told them that was ok since I want the best job that can be done. But it still took about 2 weeks after the person was back to get the install done. They had to use two different granite colors. One for the kitchen and master bath and another for the Guest bath. Mike, the owner, did not go with me to select my slabs. I asked him to go to the store and select the best 2 of 5 slabs available in my color selection. He did not do this. Instead just had them deliver two slabs to his shop. Then his wife/officer manager, called me and asked if I really wanted these slabs because they were full of fissures. I was baffled and frustrated and told them that if they were subpar, then NO, I don't want them and that is why I asked Mike to go check them out as soon as I ordered them. I told them I was mad and wanted to cancel the order and install. But then Mike called and said fissures are nothing to worry about. They just make the granite have a different variant look. When I asked why they called to see if I wanted them if they were ok, he just said she was making a normal call. So trusting him, I allowed them to proceed. Then comes installation..... They installed the sinks with a set back of 5". I have since researched and found that the standard is 4" set back. What this did is to cause my faucet drain pulls to not funtion right because they are set too far back and too close to the backsplash. When I asked them to repair I was told the only way would be to pull it all out and that could cause the granite to crack or the sinks to crack and they weren't willing to cover any damage for the fix. He then told me I didn't choose good faucets and the reason they set the counter back so far is because it is easier for them to install that way. Really? Ease for them. Lifetime of aesthetic and funtionality issues for me? Then they installed one side splash of granite in the Master bath from the Hall bath color and the back splash from the Master Bath in the Hall bath. Then Mike tried to convince me I was wrong when I pointed out the error. I told him I would bet my life on it that they were incorrectly done. He finally agreed to fix the Master bath with a remnant he had in his shop. Then gave me a $150 credit for the other splash. Now I am having to arrange to get this fixed on my own. But the WORST is the kitchen. I had pruchased two slabs of granite to match the counters and a full back splash. All looks great except the wall above the stove and to the right of the stove. They took a completely different section and coloring of my granite and put it right next to another section of coloring. Think copper/orange and black next to speckled grey and black. It was so ridicously obvious that they did a bad job. I complained and he came out and "fixed" it. It looked barely acceptable at that point, but had a dull finish vs shiny next to it. I paid him for the job only out of sheer frustration and wanting him out of my house. Remember this had gone on for over a month now. I work 60 -80 hrs a week and this whole thing was litterally making me sick. Then I was cleaning this last weekend and when I cleaned the "fixed" piece of granite, the finish rubbed off leaving a fake orange color that looks terrible. Here is his response: "I am sorry you do not like it. I tried to educate you at the beginning of the process as to the characteristics of natural stone. Like I explained to you before, this is the best that could be done with the amount of material we had to work with. To get a better match there, it would require purchasing another slab. The slabs are very expensive so and you complained about all the costs during the whole process so I didn't even ask you if it was an option. If you wanted a perfect match you should have selected material that has consistent pattern and color. ( my commment: I did not complain ONCE about price, but only that since the slabs were expensive, I wanted them to used well) I tried a low cost option of trying to die the piece to make it match better. It did look real good however, apparently the die did not penetrate. I did not expect that. I will be glad to get you a quote to purchase another slab and replace the piece that is there if you like. Or, another option is to have it custom painted to match. (my comment: Paint over my natural granite???) There is nothing wrong with the quality of the job we did. I welcome a second or third professional opinion. Not the opinion of a co-worker. (my commment: Coworker had mentioned fissures are not good and are cracks in the granite. Here is what I found on the internet: http://naturalstoneoutlet.blogspot.com/2011/11/difference-between-cracks-and-fissures.html ) By the way please change the code to your garage as I do not want to be accused of going in your house should you misplace something or you get robbed." So I am now having to go after him legally to fix this terrible mess.
