2 weeks later ARS called to confirm the appointment and 30 minutes later I got a call telling me that they couldn't do the consultation until my husband could be present. I find this to be not only ridiculous, but sexist and offensive. Once the manager Gary got on the phone, 3-way with Home Depot, he went further to say that it is company policy for the husband to be present because otherwise "they get too many calls with questions". This is the 4th hvac contractor that I was to meet with and no others made the request that my husband be present. By the tone of the manager, I have no doubt that if a male had made an appoinment request, they wouldn't require his wife to be there. Again, I find this requirement to be sexist and extremely offensive. After doing a little research on this company I found that they have only received 1 star across the board on Yelp, 25 complaints with BBB in the past 3 years, 12 of those were in the last 12 months, 17/25 complaints were with products/service. They have also received 12 complaints on the Ripoff Report. I also found that they are not NATE certified...pretty standard for hvac contractors. I find it hard to believe that this is the partner that Home Depot chose for Denver. Either Home Depot doesn't do their research or they just don't care. This has really changed my opinion of Home Depot.
Description of Work: I made a request for quote for new ac and furnace through Home Depot and this is the company they set me up with.

They can come out anytime we want. They are very conscientious provider. When we found that, there was a mistake on their parts that we didn't know what it was. They came out even on the weekend and it didn't cost me anything because that was their error, which they fixed it. Everybody is happy. They are prompt and courteous. They did waive off the initial amount, but we still didn't find it reasonable. If their price is still high, then I may not use them once the contract is over.

They are a subcontractor for one of the big box stores when you call for Furnace/AC replacement. I got 2 other quotes for American Standard furnace and AC replacement. The other 2 were within ~$500 of each other, and both provided a written estimate. ARS showed me a price sheet only. I tried to conceal my surprise at the estimate which was much higher than either of the others.

Bryan, the one who snaked the line, came out within two hours of us calling about our sewer. When he arrived he let us know approximately how long it would take before he knew for sure if he could free up the line. He nailed the amount of time almost to the minute. Our main line opening is in the wall covered with a plate in our finished basement. He wore protective clothing and covered all the carpeted area keeping everything extremely neat. Great care was taken so everything was covered and he cleaned up and took with him all the trash generated. The next week another guy came to scope the line to see what was going on inside and found a few places where the line had deteriorated and showed us where it was cracked and shifted from the city line. The price quoted was a bit steep so we opted not to have the sewer system replaced at this time. Overall they did a great job and explained several options to fixing our sewer line. We will be getting some more quotes, but for the time being, we haven't had any more issues.
Description of Work: Our main sewer line backed up 3 days after moving in to our new house. The main line was snaked about 90 feet to the city sewer line. The gentlemen that came were very professional and the video scope was included in the price but was performed about a week later.

. They ended up replacing the ARS was asked do routine winter check on forced air gas furnace. Said to have found crack on inspection (which I couldn't see)and it would cost several hundred dollars to put back together after the inspection. They made an offer to replace the system and then when I didn't take. They lowered the offer and said it would be done that day. They placed the system which I think worked poorly. It was checked by their tech and the temp was lower than expected coming out of register. I was given the name of 2 separate men who were to call. Neither did. I replaced the whole ac/heat system and just took the loss of what I think was a poor system that I felt I was rushed to buy and then got incomplete followup. Have waited 3 months to write this to allow it to simmer. Will not be using ARS again.

They are super -- very nice on the phone, clean and tidy, and their prices are pretty reasonable, I think. I have their routine maintenance contract now, and have always been happy when they show up to do inspections and routine maintenance. I love (LOVE) my furnace, which makes my old house warm for the first time in my memory, and I am quite happy with their recommendations and services.

Following the roto rooter service, we received a follow up call to schedule a scope viewing of the drain to make sure that it was all cleared up and no other blockages. This service was complimentary. Nanette is the person we talked with who gave us great customer service and the Service provider for the roto rooter service was very professional, on time and respectful of cleaning up afterwards. We will definitely use ARS again.

I just want to say how happy I am with the service I received when our water heater failed. No one wants to have a plumbing emergency. I called the 800 number for ARS and was told someone would be at my house between 9-11pm. I didn't have to be at work until the afternoon the next day, so I was ok with that. Marvin was the tech on call last night. He assessed the problem, explained how it could be fixed (we knew we would need a new water heater anyway) and basically walked me through the whole process. It's been a number of years since we replaced a hot water heater, so the price seemed a little shocking, but I am satisfied with all the warranty and maintenance features. Oh, did I mention it was 10:00pm? Marvin took the time to make sure I understood everything and we set up the time for the new install for the next morning. Marvin arrived 15 minutes early, removed and installed, explained what the lights and valves did, what the hoses/pipes would do and cleaned up. I would say the service was exceptional as well as above and beyond. As far as I'm concerned, whenever I have a plumbing issue in my home, I will ask for Marvin.

Charged an absolutely ridiculous rate to put a new drain on my hot water heater. The price of this repair was just $200 less than the water heater cost new. Said they would not charge a trip charge but after their first quote to get the work done they just raised the price by $60. Do not use there are much better more reputable companies that do the work for half the price.

Horribly! I have used ARS in other states: Nashville, TN and Chapel Hill, NC over a time of ten years. They have always provided wonderful plumbers during that time. Upon moving to CO I again hired them to help with upgrades to my new home. EVERYTHING that was installed except the hoses for the washer has needed to be repaired. The downstairs sink was done improperly, leaked and not only did it have to be re-installed, but the newly stained floors had to be redone. The upstairs shower leaks and the upstairs toilet was done improperly such that the toilet leaked into my dining room downstairs. Yes, all this first work was done by one individual, who no longer works with the company, but the follow-up help was not much better. Firstly: the manager was very difficult to work with when the downstairs sink leaked (only 2-3 weeks after installation) and helping arrange the follow-up needed repairs. He did not wish to take responsibility for the problem or the added cost of the floor repairs. Ultimately they did, but it took over a month to accomplish. Secondly: the leaky shower. OK, that happens. I asked them to come out again to look at the shower and the diagnosis was that I just had a bad product. I don't think that Delta makes bad products, but alright, everyone can get a lemon. Had another plumber look at it and really a couple screws just needed to be tightened and/or replaced. The non-ARS plumber looked at not just the shower head, but the faucet as well. Ahah, there was the problem. Thirdly: the toilet. It leaked because it was not installed correctly after the new tile was placed in the bathroom.

I had an earlier company to come and do the drains for us. It turned out that the entire line up to the street that was plugged up not just the kitchen line alone. After they left we realized that the whole basement had packed up. So we had ARS / Rescue Rooter Colorado to come out. When we first moved in here we had this problem. We found their phone number from 10 years ago and they came out. It took days. They even had to dig up the front and put in new pipes. The symptom began with the kitchen drains and I did not know that the toilet sewer was backing up too. They did not diagnose it right away. The supervisor whose name was Troy came out on the second day did a great job. He had a lap top computer and with a DVD and with some pipes traced that there were no roots from the trees that were blocking the drains. Then we came to know that it was a different problem. This guy was outstanding and he helped us save a lot of money. I would get them again. Since it is a big company we could get Wells Fargo to finance us. It is the idea that he came up with that helped us save money otherwise it would have been more than $5000. I found that they were able to come out quickly on a Friday night and cleaned out and again came on Saturday evening. Then on Monday Troy came in and lunged out all that was blocking the drains. Once Troy came he was able to find out what the problem was and clean it all out with the pipe. It is a big company with all the proper equipments. They came on the weekend. These guys are available 24/7 and have people on call. I would use them in the future.

On Friday, April 15, 2011, an appointment was scheduled for an estimate to replace the galvanized steel piping in our residence with copper or another suitable replacement. The appointment was set for Monday, April 18, 2011, between noon and 4:00 PM. We received a phone call on Monday to let us know that the estimator would be running late because a call he was on was running over the expected time to complete the job. This call came at 1:25 PM. After waiting several more hours, we called the dispatcher and asked for an expected time of arrival since we had several other errands we had postponed to be at our home for the estimator. We were told that it would be between 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. We left to perform some of the errands we had postponed and returned shortly after 6:00 PM. We received another call to let us know the estimator was on his way. He finally arrived at our home around 7:00 PM. We described all of the work we wanted done and showed him the existing piping. He took down all of our information and told us he would call us in the morning with the estimate. We waited until 1:30 PM the next day without any word. We called him and he provided an estimate that we felt was greatly inflated (almost twice what we expected) and he promised he would get us a written estimate some time later that day. Again, we waited until 1:30 PM the next day (now Wednesday) when we initiated another call to find out where our estimate was. Each time we called the estimator had a new excuse. The first one he used was that his warehouse staff was supposed to price the copper piping and then deliver the written estimate. Then, on our second call, he stated that one of the plumbing managers had recently resigned and that the issue with the estimate was caused by this change in management. Again we waited. At 1:30 PM on Thursday, we called their office and requested to speak with the plumbing manager. The receptionist informed us that the plumbing manager was not available and took a message. She also said he would call me within the next couple of hours. Having waited two hours without a response, we made another call, this time requesting to speak with Dennis, the manager. He was on another call and again we were told that he would be given our information and would call us before he left for the day. At 5:15 PM, we called again and was told Dennis had left for the day. When asked if we wanted to leave a message, we stated that we would not be interested and we would find someone else to do the work. ARS Rescue Rooter had installed a new furnace and central air conditioner in July, 2010, and we were very satisfied with the quality of the work, the professionalism of the staff, and the price we paid. This is why we were interested in using them again for our plumbing work. What a huge disappointment this was!! One would think that contractors, having been hit hard by our recent economic woes, would be providing better service, especially to their returning customers. But ARS Rescue Rooter is clearly not worried about keeping a good report with their customers. If you are reading this review, my advice would be to avoid any contact with ARS Rescue Rooter like the plague. Unless you want to wait forever, get completely ignored for several days, and pay almost twice the price of their competitors.

The price that they charged for the last job was about $50 but I have spent a lot in the past. I thought that they were overpriced and their work wasn?t good. My previous encounter with them was negative since they had charged a lot and had messed up things. They had to come back and work on things that they had done for me. So I don't like them even though they were punctual. I would not use their services in the future.

According to my neighbor, ARS came out and replaced her sewer line to the street by "pipe bursting". They left a very nice sign in her yard. Even though they ran a camera down the line, they failed to notice the Y connection where my sewer line connected to theirs. I was able to confirm this by hiring my own camera service. As a result they fixed my neighbor's line and caused mine to be blocked. My neighbor says she spent over $10,000 to get their line replaced. I spent $7,500 to run a completely new line run to the street.

ARS quoted me $4100 to repair the "leaking" section or $20K to replace the whole line. He said in time, this would be necessary. I hired a different contractor to verify ARS's findings. THERE IS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY SEWER LINE! The "offset" is simply a directional change in the line to align it with the city main. The roots are minimal and there is one slightly low area which poses no problem. ARS was dishonest and completely lacking in integrity, decency and professionalism. Shame on you!
Description of Work: ARS responded to my request to camera my sewer line because I saw a depression in my front lawn approximately over the sewer line. The man said the line was offset and leaking. Said it was due to a soil shift underground. Also reported moderate to severe problems with low areas and roots.

The blower on our furnace went out which meant no A/C. Not much fun in the summer. I called to have someone come out and give an estimate and made an appointment for the next afternoon. When the tech showed up, he thought he was going to fix my A/C, not give me an estimate. He said he could give me an estimate and then spent about 10 minutes looking at the furnace and A/C. This was compared with an hour or so for other estimates. He gave me an estimate that was a full 50% higher ($2200 higher) than the other estimates I had received then offered to knock $300 off if I did it on Monday. I declined. He was nice, and professional but didn't spend the time necessary to truly figure out what I needed.

My water heater stopped working. Called ARS and they immediately sent a guy out on Saturday. He looked at it, and couldn't figure out what was wrong with it. He went away without charging me because he couldn't fix my problem. They sent another guy back with a camera to snake through the intake and exhaust pipes, to see what was blocking them. The State Select water heater kept giving an error message that it was the Air Pressure Switch. The 2nd guy came out while I was at work, said nothing was blocking the pipes, blew out a couple blades of grass that had worked their way into the pipe (literally less than half a handful of blades). They told me everything was fine and the water heater was working. They charged me $200 for this visit! The water heater worked for about one more week and is now not working again. ARS failed to diagnose the problem, let alone fix it. And they charged me $200. I WILL NEVER USE THEM AGAIN.

They charge $170 to show up then charged $500 to snake it. When he did the video it was strongly suggested that I spend $10,000 using their companies sleeve into the plumbing to expand the lining from the inside out which keeps the clay piping in tact so you don't have to dig up your back yard. I felt it was unnecessary. Two hours after receiving the suggestion from ARS I got a call from the employee saying he could probably do it for $8000 instead. It just felt like a bit of a scam to me. The person who snaked it did a good job (grade A), the person who did the video (grade F). I will say that the company is always quick to respond. I'd use them again for an emergency.
Description of Work: I hired them to snake my plumbing for cleaning.

The serviceman arrived less than an hour after my call. He described what he would do and what it would cost me and then got right to work while my wife and I continued cleaning up the mess in our basement that plugged up drains always leave. When he was done I asked about a senior discount and he gave me 10% off.
Description of Work: On Christmas day "Mike" unclogged our main drain line and reamed it out all the way to the sewer line in the street, a distance of about 65 feet. Mike had to remove a toilet to access the main line, as the house is 43 years old and has no cleanouts. After clearing and cleaning the line, he ran a camera all the way through it. He then replaced the toilet and left. Later I noticed that the toilet was turned and hitting the back wall and that the water line into the toilet tank was leaking. I called the company the next day to report the problem. Mike returned within an hour, straighten the toilet, and replaced the water line to the tank, stopping the leak.

They are friendly and prompt about getting their job done. They always respond to my phone calls the same day. Their price is a little high, but they keep my system in good working order.
Description of Work: They come out twice a year to service my heating and air conditioning unit for my 3200 square foot home.
