it was a good process. Lou's bid came in the lowest out of 4 Angie's list companies. My goal was not to higher the cheapest, but to get value for my money. I believe I found that. He installed a 93 AFUE furnace in the basement in one day. He came back the next day and installed the humidifier on the return line because there was no room on the supply side. Also he added an extra run into a cold bedroom for $150. The other companies added that service for at least double that.

We hired Rocky Mountain Heat to repair a wooden air duct in the crawlspace of our old Victorian home in Denver. The work went great. The work quality was very good and completed in a timely manner. This was impressive given the difficult work conditions- in a narrow crawlspace with a lot of debris. Lou is easy to work with and is knowledgeable about a variety of household repairs.

All went well. He was cost and time conscious and considerate. Seems like a personable and knowledgeable guy. We are going to get him to check our heating system too. Again a backup would be nice so you feel you could get help when you need it as it never seems to be a convenient time for anyone when things go wrong. So a bigger firm with more plumbers might have an advantage. But my husband and I will stick to him for the time being.
Description of Work: Checked AC, changed some ductwork, and cleaned the condenser. He advised us on changes that would improve our heating and cooling efficiency and hopefully reduce our bills. They were modest changes and he was very cost conscious. Early in July he advised my husband at 5 pm. on a Fri. what he needed to do to get our AC operating again. It had ceased functioning, He ended up selling a part to my husband and it got us air once again. He was the only plumber that responded to my husband after many calls to others. Luckily his advice solved our immediate problem. We had to wait though for our system check as he was going to be gone on vacation for the next two weeks and there is nothing wrong with that but if our fix had not worked we would have been in a bind. Others told us they could not be out for a week to fix it. So the immediate responsiveness was good but the vacation could have been a big problem for us but don't know what he could do but have a backup person perhaps.

I purchased the $69 furnace tune up from Angie's List. Sue promptly responded and put me on the calendar for one of the days that I requested. Lou arrived in the 1 hour time frame that Sue provided me with. I'm in a new house and it was the first time I have had the furnace inspected. Lou was fine with me standing over him while he performed the service. He did an excellent job of explaining what he was doing and what I needed to keep my eye on. He was very thorough in his cleaning as well. I also asked Lou to inspect my water heater while over and provide a second opinion on some work that was recommended from another company. He told me no repairs would be needed. I felt no pressure of an up-sell during the whole experience.

Lou was great! He was thorough, on time and responsive to all of our questions. We appreciated that he offered practical solutions to our home remodeling needs and did not try to oversell us on anything. His work was neat and he paid attention to detail. He did a very thorough job explaining how our new products worked and always took a good amount of time to go over the work that was completed. Lou even did several follow up calls to make sure that the equipment was working properly! My husband and I really felt like we got the best service possible with Rocky Mountain Heat and would recommend this company to anyone who appreciates and honest and timely contractor who is dedicated to providing you with quality service!
Description of Work: The provider replaced our old 80% effeciency furnace with a 95% efficient furnace, installed a 13 SEER a/c unit and replaced our old water heater with a 50 gal. water heater. The job required relocating the water heater with some minor plumbing, creating the appropriate venting for the high efficient furnace and installing the a/c unit.

They did a good job. They came out promptly and gave me a hand with what I needed. They were the ones who actually installed the A/C maybe two years ago. I thought they were very responsive and quick to come out. I know it was a difficult time to get help because it was extremely hot. A lot of people all over town were having trouble with their A/C and having to call for assistance, so I was very happy that I could get him to come out right away. The price was reasonable. It was actually the owner of the company who came out and provided the service. They are very professional.
Description of Work: I purchased a Big Deal from Rocky Mountain Heat and they diagnosed a problem. The A/C had stopped running and it turned out to be a blown fuse. They went and bought the correct fuse. They then came back and installed it. The A/C was up and running again within an hour or so from when they first arrived.

Sue was able to fit me in the next day after calling. She was great about getting me prices and working with my schedule. Lou showed up the next morning and he was early. He quickly cleaned and certified the two furnaces while also offering helpful hints about how to maintain and care for the furnaces. He also checked the air conditioner units and found issues with weeds growing up through the condensers. We would have never noticed this, and therefore was very thankful he pointed it out. He promptly sent me a certification report and an invoice for the follow up work. I liked that he didn't try to sell me anything that I didn't need, and I will defiantly be using them again.

This is his busy time of the year, so we were happy to find someone who could fit us in. He told us that he could fix our AC for about $600.00. It was an older unit that used the expensive coolant, so with that and the coil would have probably been replaced anyway, we decided to get an update, with a new condenser. It took all day for Lou and his assistant, but it was ready for the next day. Wouldn't you know it, it was cool for a few days, but finally had a hot day. The unit froze up. Called Lou, and he came right out the next day and worked for a couple of hours. Haven't had any problem since. Figures... this is the coolest summer I can remember. I'm not complaining, but we haven't really had a chance to try it out. :-)

Lou is very sharp and patient with the average non-technical person. He explained exactly what he was doing and why. Was very punctual. Didn't try to up sell me for things I didn't need. Honest about the time he took and what he required to get the job done. Wonderful job. Very helpful. Saved us $1,300.00 when we thought we needed about $1,500.00 of work done.
Description of Work: Lou saved me $1,300.00 by carefully diagnosing my AC issues over the phone. By asking careful questions and listening he correctly diagnosed the problem with my AC unit and was able to partially pull and clean out the unit. It was simply stunning the amount of matted dog hair, dust and junk that came out of the evaporative coil. He carefully broke out everything that needed to be done and why. After looking at my internal unit he then went outside and checked and diagnosed the outside unit as well.

We were very pleased! After calling 8 other companies who couldn't send someone out for just a repair for 2 weeks, I was excited when Lou fit us in the same day we called! Reasonable service call fee: around $80....other companies were quoting me $150 to just come out! Very kind, thorough, and knowledgeable. Would call on him again! Also, unit is very old and he knew how to fix it! Don't find many out there like that anymore! He didn't try to sell me a new one (this has happened before) and was confident about his repair and knew just what to do.

My renters had indicated they were changing filters regularly so I assumed it was a more complex issue. Lou checked it out and it was air filter issue all along along with the outer unit needing to be blown out. He was great about getting it all cleaned up and giving me talking points to give to my tenants so that they might be more compelled to actually change out the $3 filters. He charged me the Anglies List rate to keep my cost down since it was a straight forward service. He struck me as a good small business owner with a nice team of people. I'll call him again for all my HVAC needs moving forward.

I called Rocky Mountain to get a bid on a full Furnace/AC installation. Lou called me and was honest about what he handled and told me to find a dealer who handled more of that brand than he did. He also told me about the two different brands I have decided to look at and he was so honest and gave great reasons as to why I should consider one over the other. The reasons he gave to me were the things I saw that might be a problem, Lou just confirmed what I thought. He did not even try to sell me the brand he handles most...what a helpful and honest guy!

Lou came out within a few days of my call even though we were new customers, and had many calls. On the phone, he gave me some things to check before he came. When he got here, he checked the system, and educated my husband about maintenance, and tips. He put 10 oz. of coolant in (ouch!) to keep the condenser from freezing up. He said the unit we have was on the low end of performance for our house, but he didn't push us to replace it. He did say that the fan was out of balance, and the motor would probably not last for much longer. He charged us only for the refrigerant. He followed up with a call to see if the AC was performing any better. All in all, can't ask for better than that! We'll certainly call him when we decide to replace our unit.

Lou was super friendly and the price was excellent compared to the shopping around I did. One company wanted $180 for a tune up!! Lou returned my VM right away and I was on the books a week later. I had a one hour time frame for when they would show up to do the work. Lou called during the one hour window and let me know he would be there towards the tail end as opposed to the front end of the window. I really appreciated this! Lou gave the once over on my HVAC system. He found a venting issue with the furnace/hot water heater and corrected it for free which I thought was a really stand up move. He also checked out all of my intake vents to make sure everything was working correctly. He gave me suggestions and ideas on how to circumvent a majority of the cool air to the upstairs levels of our home as opposed to the basement. The only small gripe I have is that I get so TIRED of repair men coming to my home and telling me everything that is "wrong with the home" or "installed incorrectly" or "not to code". My home is 10 years old and was built by an excellent and reputable builder here in CO. The home has been expertly upgraded over the last 10 years and is in superior condition. I understand that people want to do their due-diligence as far as making sure people are safe and have properly working equipment but I also did my due diligence when I bought the home and made sure everything was to code and working properly. These kind of comments always make you feel like someone is trying to "sell" you something or possibly trying to take you for a ride. I absolutely don't think that was the case here, just something that gets under my skin a bit. Overall, I would absolutely use this company again and recommend them over some of the "bigger" companies here in Denver.

We are new to Colorado after residing in Oklahoma all of our lives. If all of the service providers in the Highlands Ranch area are like Lou, we moved to the right place! Lou came to our house on a Saturday afternoon, He was punctual, caring, and gave us several options to choose from after carefully explaining each product. We had talked with other providers that were highly rated on Angie's List. One had tried to get us to install a Rheem unit that had a high SEER that cost a whole lot more. He said he had that very unit in his own home. The next time we spoke with him by phone he had completely changed his tune and couldn't even get that unit from Rheem. Lou provided us with the information we needed to meet the size of our home and also the # of really hot months in Colorado. He was honest, educated us in many different areas and took the time with us that we needed to feel comfortable with him and his products. He spent extra time explaining other questions we had about the heating unit, humidifier, thermostat, wiring, etc. instead of fast talking us and installing a unit and going on to the next job. We felt like he cared about us personally. Lou has a helper but he does his own work and backs up what he tells you. We definitely would recommend him in the future to our family and friends. He is an honest, hard working man. Angie's List got it right on this man!

I purchased an evaporative cooler through Rocky Mountain Heat and thought the process went well every step of the way. First, I had a great consult where everything got explained in detail, from what my options were to where exactly the installation would be and what work it would require. When the workmen cam in, they were quick and professional, taking care to proect my house from the work area while also providing a fast service. They even addressed specific concerns I had (high wind) by adding extra structural support. I would recommend these guys in an instant!

I contacted quite a few contractors looking for a good deal on a whole-house humidifier. I found that many would not offer me a price without sending out a "comfort consultant" or technician for a visit. They were also offering a variety of units, which made comparison shopping impractical. As I did not want to have several salesman come by my home to make a pitch, I adopted a new approach. After doing my homework, on-line, I decided that the Aprilaire was very widely used and that their model 500 would be sufficient for my small house. So, I sent email, specifying that model. and describing the environment in which it would be installed, to about 8 vendors having ratings of "A" on Angie's list. My letter specified that there would be no sales calls involved, but that I would be happy to answer relevant questions via email. Some vendors declined to bid without a sales call. One tried to persuade me that the American Standard unit that he proposed would be identical (a comparison of features revealed that it was not the same model). Another made a fairly low bid, but then suggested an upgrade to model 600, for an extra $85. Prices ranged from $420 to $1100, with most being in the mid 500s to high 600s. Lou offered the lowest price, at $420. When i spoke with him on the phone, he then suggested that I upgrade to the model 600. I prepared myself to hear him jack up the price substantially, but he did not. He told me that the price would go up by $30, which I though very reasonable and agreed. Even at $450, his price was significantly lower than the prices quoted by all of his competitors.... despite the fact that he was offering a more expensive unit. Lou and his assistant showed up right on time and went to work. They were polite, tidy, and knew what they were doing. Lou pointed out a problem at my water heater (dripping pressure relief valve), told me that it was under warranty, and suggested that I recall the company that installed it to ask for repair. Surprisingly, he made no effort at all to take this minor job to himself, despite the fact that while the replacement part is covered by warranty, I will need to pay for labor to have it installed. Lou was very helpful and informative, explaining the operation of the humidifier, and providing answers to other questions that I had about my HVAC system. I particularly liked the fact that when he did not know the answer to a question, he said so, rather than bluff. I was very happy with my experience and will recommend him to friends.

had a funny smell coming from my furnace in the morning, I shut it down and called all over town trying to get someone to come take a look at it. I left a message for Rocky Mountain and they called me back quickly. To my surprise I was able to have an appointment that same day! The service provider was excellent and he figured out my problem ( minor) and did some other little things for me such as putting wires out of harms way and some other things. I was extremely pleased with the service and do not hesitate to recommend them. I know I will eventually need some work done on our furnace and I will call Rocky Mountain again. .
