When Alex called back he schedule an appointment to come and give an estimate that was a week out. That was yesterday at 3:30 PM. Alex never showed up, never called back to reschedule and still has not called back. I don't work with people who are unreliable from the get go.

Ā + -1 moreThey had a large enough crew to do it all in one day. It was quite a bit of rotor tilling done. I didn't have great expectations. I have a shoulder injury, so I had them do it. I have had other people come out and do it, and they did as good of job if not better. Generally it has been a lot smaller crew so it took a little longer. I like the fact they got in and out.
Description of Work: They came and cut my grass when it was the spring. They did some rotor tilling, I got a hedge that they cleaned on, just general yard work like that.

Description of Work: I hired this company because of the "A" reviews on Angie's List in July 2014. Here we are July 2017 and have fired them. The services in the beginning were very good. But as time went on, and his business grew due to Angie's List, the owner became less and less available and my yard began to deteriorate. His employees came and mowed and trimmed but paid no attention that plants were dying. The just pulled the dead ones out! I reached out many times to the owner and he was too busy to come and take a look at the problems; drip system not working and no weeding both which were included in the monthly fee. My inquiries and complaints began a year ago. In the meantime, my beautiful Thuja's (evergreens) started turning brown. That was of upmost concern because they were only 4 years old and cost a bundle. Weeding only occurred when I contacted the owner and complained. (I started hiring my neighbors gardener to help with bigger projects that I physically could not manage alone!!) I was going to fire him several months ago but he promised that he was going to change the way he operated and focus on the day to day and not just the big jobs and make for time for his long time customers who needed assistance. I sent the list of expectations as we discussed. Once again promises were made and not kept. He finally showed up and assessed that indeed one of drip systems was not working. He could see the browning of the trees and 2 trees were actually dying. He promised to come back the next Sunday to repair the issue. I had to text him AGAIN to see if was coming and he said no that the next Sunday would be better for him. In the meantime, for a week I had to hand water and manually turn on the drip system. I have since lost two trees that I will need to replace and they are not cheap! I would not hire him again and I do not recommend him. He grew too fast and does not have time for his customers other than mowing and blowing or, if you have a big money making project, he can do that! I give him an "F"!

Ā + 0 moreAlex was personable and took the time to explain exactly how he intended to tackle our job - since I prefer a more lush and overgrown look, in order to ensure none of my plants were damaged, his crew would use a combination of pulling, weed whacking, and chemical treatment. When it came to scheduling both the estimate consultation and the job, he was responsive and followed through - very reliable. His pricing was also very competitive, a great value. We are happy with the results and are going to move forward with a maintenance agreement. Conscientious and a great value.
Description of Work: We need a comprehensive front and backyard clean up which included intensive weed removal, shrub pruning and clean up, yucca and olive tree thinning, and lawn mow and edging. It was a big job.

Ā + 2 moreAlex knows what he's doing, and he is thorough and exact. He's local to West Sac, which is a huge plus because that's where we live, and his work was several thousand dollars less expensive than the other two bids we received. Hermanos Flores will be our go-to for future landscaping work.
Description of Work: Comprehensive cleanup of "weed jungle" in back yard, followed by tilling, decomposed granite placement, and sod with irrigation, all with a river rock border.

Ā + -1 moreI heard back from Alex rather quickly after my first inquiry. He was available to come over for a consultation the following Saturday, and scheduled me for the following Monday at 2 PM. I honestly don't know if they were on time because I didn't come home until 3; however, they were hard at work on the front yard and I have no reason to believe that they didn't start in time. I agreed to a price that was higher than I wanted, but he did agree to trim trees, so it wasn't unreasonable. In the end, it was a crew of 3 working for 4 hours. I felt like I actually got a bargain. The work was amazing, and I really only expected work on trees in the front, and they helped me with trees in the back. Alex was friendly and professional.

Ā + -1 moreWhat they installed was not decomposed granite. It was a little decomposed granite mixed with small pebbles. I had them remove it all and put it on the other side of yard. I had to hire a different company to install real decomposed granite. Their concrete work was good, but I am starting to notice hairline cracks after 2 years.
Description of Work: Decomposed granite in dog run side of yard. Cement walkway from dog run to patio on other side of yard. Removed old concrete patio and replaced with new, larger one.

Ā + -1 moreThe one I received didn't look right from the beginning. I was assured that it would look better when they were done. It still didn't look right. The one used in my yard was mostly gravel and shells with a little dg in it. It tracked everywhere, even causing me to slip and fall. I later discovered there ARE other types of dg. I ended up hiring a different company to redo my yard with stabilized dg (didn't know what it was called in the beginning). It's been a year and I am pleased with the work done by the second company.
Description of Work: Decomposed granite for dog side of yard. I specifically asked for the kind they use in dog parks and even told them what dog parks to look at so they got the right kind.

Ā + -1 moreIt went well. He quickly responded to my inquiry and was willing to be flexible with the design for the planter area. We had several emails back and fourth about different plants. He responds to emails very quickly but it takes a bit to get a return call on a phone message. He and his crew were prompt and arrived when they said they would and worked quickly. They made sure everything was cleaned up when they left. This was very important because they were doing my front yard and I live in an HOA that is quick to send out a notice for any little thing. It had been about 10 years or so since I had to replace a lawn so I was not sure how long it would take the strips of sod to mesh together and look like one solid sea of grass. I was able to see the edges of some of the strips. It has been a month and I now have a beautiful sea of grass and I cannot tell where the strips of sod were laid. Everything went well, and the price was reasonable. My only complaint is that perhaps an extra bag of bark or two could have been used in the corned planter area which is on a slope. After the rains some of the bark slid down the slope and now there is a bare area where you can see the black weed barrier. Nothing an extra bag of bark will not fix. Overall I am very happy with the job that was done and will have his crew do the back yard next summer.
Description of Work: Alex and his crew pulled up my old lawn, which was mostly weeds, sprayed a weed killer, tilled the soil with fresh top soil, laid down new sod, planted some new plants in a corner of the yard near a retaining wall and laid down a weed barrier and fresh bark. He also repaired a few sprinkler heads and installed a new timer.

Ā + -1 moreOverall an excellent experience. Alex was easy to get a quote from and was on-site on the day of work to get the team started. The team was professional, diligent, and cleaned up after themselves. They hauled all the waste away and did not need to use my green waste bins at all. Many of the stumps on my property were obscured by weeds, so I could not point them out ahead of time. The team did a good job of finding them and taking care of them, and even found some I didn't know about. We had minor problems with scheduling but those are barely worth mentioning. I found texting to be a little easier because it is hard for me to take calls while at work, and Alex worked with me on that.
Description of Work: Cleared tall weeds, removed shrubs, removed small trees, ground several stumps/roots. This was on a quarter-acre property, about 2/3 of which required thorough attention.

The crew was very polite and professional. Alex was very particular to get the bender board just right. The clean up was fantastic. The area looks great for planting.
Description of Work: Removed approximately 350 sq. ft. of sod and hauled it away. Graded section of lawn removed. Bought in one cubic yard of compost and tilled it into the soil and leveled the dirt. Capped off two sprinkler heads and installed bender board.
