I met with their salesperson- Mike & co-owner, Billy McCauley, to discuss the style of cabinets, color of cabinets and the design detail for the bookshelves. After approving the design, they agreed to complete the cabinets with installation & detail work by February 28, 2014. We came to an agreement that they would be paid in payments as the project progressed. Unfortunately, when 2/28 came and went, it was difficult to get a return phone call, or any type of face to face explanation as to why the cabinets were still not complete by that date promised. There were also details about the cabinets that I wanted them to address before the final payment was given. Some of them include-patching up the finish nails holes (and painting them), fixing the uneven shelf above the kitchen window, and fixing some of the drawers that had too much of a gap after being closed. I also requested that they build a custom cover for the exhaust vent over the stove, which was never done and they also promised two quarts of the two colors chosen for the cabinets & bookshelves. In addition, they never provided the sample board for the kitchen color and after they were already painted, it did not seem like it was the color that I had specified from Sherwin Williams. The color has more of a yellow/cream tint to it than the original color. At that point, I had no other choice than to live with the color already on the cabinets. The bookcase color was chosen from a previous job that they were completing, so I actually got to see the finished color and they turned out great. It took multiple trips for the installation process and I was uneasy about paying them their final payment because it seemed as if they might not come back to finish the job. Sometimes, it took days or even a week to pass before they would return, especially since they would tell me after each payment, "We'll be back tomorrow to finish it up." Overall, I gave B&K cabinets a C on the overall job because some of the shelves are loose, the detial was not complete, the vent was not done and some of the adjustments were not done on the drawers and doors. Although they were responsive at the beginning of the project, I was very disappointed at the end due to lack of communication, ability to not finish the project on time which therefore delayed the plumber, the granite installers, the floor installers and pushed back my rental by 45 days. I was happy that they were the lowest bidders, but at what cost.
