Lerman Appliances

First, what a pleasure to receive such great customer service when calling and making an appointment. The repair person showed up on time and they worked to make the time convenient for me. After the first visit, they did need to buy some parts and return. I got a call the very same day of the first visit to set up a repair time for the second visit. Despite a snafu in the scheduling for the second visit--they scheduled it the day before New Year's Day forgetting that the repair person was off that day--I was very pleased with their service, especially since the scheduling person immediately owned up to the scheduling mistake and was very apologetic. They made rescheduling very easy for me. All in all a very good experience.

My objection to the workers was/is their attitude. I do not appreciate anyone acting and behaving as if I am dumber than a rock.

My husband called this morning, and got a response back quickly. The technician came earlier than expected and was very friendly, professional and quick. Our washer wasn't draining. Turns out there were a lot of items that came out of our pockets that had clogged the washer pump. He showed and explained what the problem was and how to avoid it in the future.

I used Lerman twice: once to fix my oven door & once to fix my microwave. They were professional and quick both times. I would definitely use them again.

The serviceperson showed up on time and quickly diagnosed the problem. He had the part on his truck and did the repair. he was friendly and polite. He repaired the oven quickly and left. We were very happy with the work performed and would definitely use Lerman Appliances again.

First I called another Angie's List appliance repair company. I didn't like the vague answers I received from the person who answered the phone, nor did I like his lack of communications skills. Next I called Lerman Appliances after reading all the positive comments. Val Lerman answered my call. He was personable, professional, and honestly answered my very few questions to my satisfaction. Eli worked efficiently, professionally, and cleaned up after himself. The service fee was waived because the service was performed. I also received the 20% Angie's List discount. I felt the charge was very reasonable. I would nominate this company as a Super Service Provider.

We had enough with the drip in our refrigerator, looked on Angie's list and found the highly rated Lerman Appliances. We sent and email via Angie's List on Sunday with a request for a possible Monday visit. Lerman called Monday morning and we made the appointment for that afternoon. Very pleased they could accommodate our request so quickly. The repairman was pleasant and polite. He identified the issue, but he did not have the exact part for our 20 year old refrigerator. However, he was able to configure the modern parts he did have to make the repair. They have a $45 service call fee, which was then applied to the total service cost. Calling Lerman to repair the ailing fridge was a significantly lower price to pay than a buying a new refrigerator. Plus, it allows us to save for a new one instead of scrambling to find the money right now.

Sergei discovered that air was leaking into the cabinet from the water and ice dispenser. The small door that flips open and shut wasn't sealing as well as it once did (the unit is 17 years old). Sub Zero wanted a ridiculous amount for the part and the job would have involved dismantling the door, so Sergei suggested a "home remedy" that cost us nothing and works brilliantly. Previously, we have used Lerman to replace the freezer side compressor (again, after 17 years). This was an expensive repair, mostly owing the the cost of replacement parts from Sub Zero, but we felt the labor costs were fair. The job was done on professionally and on time. Our impression is that the Lerman technicians care about their work and do it well. Recently a Lerman technician also resolved an issue for my daughter (again a refrigerator problem..must run in the family.) She was ready to trash her second hand fridge, but the tech replaced the door seal and restored it to working order. He followed up to make sure that the problem was fixed.

I called Jerman's because of the great reviews on Angie's list. Our dishwasher in our new house was leaking and just not working. I called early in the morning and by that afternoon someone was at my door. He was polite, went right to the dishwasher and did his job. No upselling or dilly dally, he went and cleaned out our water tube and make sure it worked before he left. He even took the time to explain some things that we can do to do better maintenance on the unit. Def impressed, and excited to have a working dishwasher.

They gave me excellent advice and I was very pleased.

Everything went well. I contacted them on Monday 11/11/13 and explained my problem. We set up an appointment for 11/13/13. My oven is a Chambers which is no longer in business and parts are very difficult to find. Vitallii was the repairman that came on 11/13/13 to take a picture and measurements of the heating element as they could not find the part for the serial # of my oven so they could try to locate the part. The office called on 11/15/13 to tell me that they had found the part and to schedule an appointment for Vitalli to come to do the repair. The appointment was for 11/15/13 between 3:30 and 6:30, Vitalli called about 2:45 to tell me he was on his way. Everyone I delt with was extremely professional and pleasant to deal with. I would use them again.

It went seamlessly. Vitaly was informative and meticulous. He was excellent at his job.

The initial repair was good, but months later the fridge started failing again. Tried to get them to come out quickly - it's our food, after all - but one of the downsides of being a popular provider is that they were booked solid for the next few days. Not wanting it all to rot I found another provider (RJ's Service) who we'd used in the past. RJ's came out, took the panel off inside the freezer and discovered that the heat exchange unit - or whatever you call that radiator-like thing - was a solid block of ice. The thermostat - recently replaced by Lerman's - was fine, but the wired connections weren't done properly, so the wire ends were blackened from the constant connected/not-connected electrical flow, which caused the thermostat to essentially get stuck in the "off" position. A heat gun, lots of towels, and a simple rewiring and we were now back in business. This is probably the type of repair that Lerman's would've re-done for free had I waited, but when you have all your food at risk of going bad that wasn't an option. In sum, Lerman's seems generally good, and I wouldn't want to ding them too heavily for what may have been an unintentional slip, but I cannot give them a higher grade than a "B".

If y'all have a minute I want to tell you a story. I called Lerman Appliance on Friday and told them our dishwasher was leaking. He said they were full up with service calls and could not come until Monday. He then ( I guess) looked us up on their computer and saw we were repeat customers and asked if I would hold the line for a few minutes. After a bit he came back on and said he could get his father, Vitaley, to come out on Saturday. I was a happy camper ! On saturday his Pop arrived (he had worked on all of our appliances before) a wonderful "old school" guy. He worked for a fairly long time, found that there were 2 leaks not just 1. He could fix 1 but needed a water valve which he could not get late on saturday afternoon but would come back on Monday. I told him it would have to be very early as I had a MD appt at 10:30 which I could not miss. He came early on Monday (after sitting in 1.5 hrs of traffic to get to my house in the Pacific Palisades. Again, he worked for a fairly long time and totally fixed the leaks. THIS IS THE GOOD PART I was so thankful for his great service, I didn't even want to mention the Angies $20 discount--He told me the total (it was so reasonable, I alomost thought I mis-heard him) and I wrote him a check. It was only AFTER he left that I really looked at the bill. He came twice, + travel time(big) and the bill was $217.20 and that included $80.00 for parts AND he included the Angies $20 discount w/o it even ever being mention--He just knew we were Angies's List people I don't know about y'all but this is about as good as it gets. It's not the $20, its the companies ethic and service standards. I don't ever meet their equal, even on Angies's site--THEY ARE THE BEST !!!

I think they did a good job but its hard to tell. The dryer was taking a huge amount of time to dry and it's still taking a huge amount to dry. But maybe it's because it's a really old dryer. The guy did a decent job. He cleaned out the passage way so that there was movement of air.

The work was fine. He showed on time and got the work done. I had no complaints with his work and was satisfied.

Washer - found the trouble immediately. Replaced the part. Checked everything out. Dryer - found bad plug-in from last repair. Fixed it quickly & cheaply. Pleasant and quiet and fast.

Val originally charged me $65 for the visit but when it became clear he wouldn't be able to help, he sent me a check back. I really appreciate this, wish more providers were so focused on customer satisfaction! Thanks!

First, I was sent "Mike". Mike asked me what was wrong. I told him the washer wasn't filling and completing the cycle. Mike made sure the machine was filling; told me I was wrong and was getting ready to go. I asked him to stay and see that the cycle went through. He told me no. I told him I didn't call him to not diagnose the problem. He left. I let the machine cycle, and of course it didn't work. Mike only asked my diagnosis of the situation and did nothing on his own. Ask to not have Mike. I called the company within 20 minutes of Mike leaving. Asked for a new technician. I was sent Ilyn. He was great. He looked at the machine, made his calculations, consulted with another technician, told me they were 99% sure that was the problem and ordered the part. The machine was finished when the part arrived four days later and has worked great for the last two months. Ask for Ilyn.

Lerman was ontime assessed the problem immediately and then was able to fix it right away. They are very nice and responsive. I won't use anyone else to fix my appliances in the future.

Booking them was great - they were very professional over the phone. They asked all the pertinent questions to help them be prepared for the visit. The technicians were professional, clean, and courteous. They arrived within their time frame as promised. They followed up to make sure the charges were okay before performing the work.

The service was fine just didn't fix the whole problem.

I would rate them very highly. He was really efficient and he fixed it in the same day. I thought the price was fair. He went out and got the part and he brought it back the same day.

I wanted to know how much it would be to replace the clutch on my washer but they wanted $45 to come out and diagnose the problem. In other words, they wouldn't tell me how much they would charge with coming out.
