The Smell Good Plumber - Mike Diamond

Although I had issues with their dispatcher, Cesar the technician was wonderful. They were very professional, checked out everything that needed to be checked. They gave me an estimate, came back, and worked 2 whole hours in 100+ degree weather outside, told me all of the things he did, and told me he just couldn't get our compressor to work. He offered me another solution to replacing the compressor which was very high. He was still very kind after all of that work and let us know he would keep the offer open and recommended us getting a second opinion and maybe finding someone who could get us used equipment. I appreciated him telling me I should get a second opinion and that we could use used equipment even though he could not supply it.

Well we will definitely never use or recommend that company for anything. The other problem with them on the requested on the unstopping drains but basically they tried to, they suggested that we needed to do two separate steps duplicate effort times two to unclog one drain so by the time they got finished talking this up I just send them on their way we got a different company.

My 86 year old mother's garbage disposal sprung a leak and flooded her kitchen on Christmas eve. She called Mike Diamond the next day at 10:00 am and was told someone would be there by 11:30 and would call 30 minutes before arrival. At 11:40 the office girl who took the original call, called and said he was on his way. He arrived at 12:45. He looked at the disposal and said she needed a new unit and he would be back after he wrote an estimate. He went to his truck and15 minutes he came in with an estimate that included an 1/2 hp disposal at $869.00 and a 3/4 hp disposal (which he recommended) for $1169.00. He also added on $455.00 for a P trap and a drain basket for the sink. This seemed high to me but it was Christmas and my mother needed her sink so I gave the OK to the 1/2 hp disposal. He then went out to his truck to presumably get the disposal. He was gone for 25 minutes and all I saw him do was stand by his truck and talk on his cell phone for the whole time. He came back in (without the disposal) and I asked him was there a problem. He said no he was just assembling the unit. He then went to the sink again and announced that he did not have the right type of disposal for my mother's house. He said he would go to the store and buy one and when he got back it would be about a 2 1/2 hour job. At that point I told him that we were not going to use him and sent him on his way. The next day we called another plumber who did the job in 1 hr and charged us $280.00. That was quite a difference, plus this plumber did not try to sell us anything we did not need. My whole experience with the Mike Diamond company was awful. I felt that if I had not been there, he would have taken total advantage of my 86 yr old mother. He kept telling us how much we needed to upgrade this and replace that and like most people, not knowing a lot about plumbing, it made me dizzy. Oh and by the way, I do not usually expect my plumber to be clean and smell good. Since the Mike Diamond company makes such a big deal about this in their adds, I must comment on the fact that this plumber was filthy dirty ( he did apologize ). He was so dirty, I did not want to get close enough to see if he smelled good.

We really liked them. They were honest when we had a clog in our shower and could not figure it out. They came out and they were phenomenal. The guy worked fast. He was nice and he cleaned up after himself. I would highly recommend them. They used this $99 drain thing. It was a massive problem. They were just great. I have used them again another time. I read their stuff on Angie's List. It looked really good. We called them. They stuck to what they said. They were excellent. It really depended on the technician guy. With regard to professionalism, he was incredible. I would use them exclusively.
