Since I have a few properties and been dealing with contractor for a long time, I can honestly say that Avi from So Cal Builders & Design is one of the most dependable contractors we have ever had the opportunity to hire. This is the third project we are doing with him and this time we gave him keys to our new property and trust him implicitly. He finished remodeling of the entire unit, including new kitchen, bathroom, flooring and painting in record time. There is NOTHING this company cant accomplish!

Vendor supplied "3-D" rendering which was helpful and which helped cement the deal. At the time of the presentation of sketches, I asked questions about how the job would proceed, like would there be underlayment under the DG, could they use benderboard instead of pressure treated to contain the waklway, and would a foreman be on site throughout the job. Got assents to all questions. Turns out that the first day or two there were long stretches where there were only a couple of heavy-lifters working without supervision or, really, tools -- aside from picks and shovels. They seemed to have no drinking water either; I suppled water, also they happily commandeered my garden handtruck and wheelbarrow which they employed in fine fashion to move concrete chunks to the truck and the dirt to the back of the lot. I allowed them to put the dirt back there, saving them many trips to the dump in their pickup. The underlayment was omitted due to what the vendor called an honest mistake... says he thought I had not requested it. Actually, I don't think I had requested underlayment; I had merely asked if that was a part of the job and was told it was. Therefore, I of course expected it. Workers arrived between 9-10am most days...kinda late. Agreed upon details were omitted, some important, but vendor took care of most of them when pressed. If I hadn't been on top of it, it's possible the vendor would not have compacted the DG or put an end on the walkway to minimize loss from erosion. So I kind of got the feeling that the vendor and his sub-contractor (not an employee of the firm, it turns out) had some miscommunication between them, and the job was carried out in the way many ill-supervised contracting jobs are carried out. In the end I decided that modern pressure treated wood wouldn't pose a threat to my huge pine tree, research suggested that underlayment wasn't necessary on top of the kind of heavy soil that we have in this neighborhood (tell that to the weeds), and I took the eventual compacting of the DG (by machine) as something of a victory. The short L-wall looks and seems serviceable (if not the neatest job in the world but I don't care) and we'll see how well the patio area was graded to shunt water to the driveway and swale. The area looks more or less like the 3-D rendering (although less sterile) and the walkway is no longer a safety hazard. And then there's the fact that the job is now done, and the back area has been transformed for the better. I certainly could not have done it by myself.

Arrived on time. Explained his services clearly. Gave useful suggestions. Came back a second time with a drawing showing what we discussed.

Went well. I purchased $49 for a Hardscape Design and Assessment With Complete 3-D Renderings with So Cal and they provided the bid of landscaping on my back yard.

Avi was on time and helped us learn new things about our backyard project.

We hired Avi in 2013 to do a remodel on a recently purchased duplex. We wanted to combine two living rooms, a dining room, and a kitchen, into a single open plan room. We also needed to remove a kitchen from one half of the duplex. Avi was one of five contractors we spoke to about the work, and far and away the most prepared. He walked us through our options and the requirements, both structurally and from a permitting standpoint. He explained that we had the option to either raise beams in the ceiling, since one long wall was load bearing, or to leave it exposed, and clearly explained what the price difference was. After meeting with Avi we knew he would be able to get us through our first major construction process smoothly. Avi's architect drew up plans, which he submitted to the city for approval. He was able to get them approved almost immediately, and construction began within a month of our first conversations. Avi worked with us to put up a door between the construction and our bedroom, so we'd be able to avoid as much of the dust as possible, and worked to leave the kitchen in working order for as long as possible, so we could keep using it. All inspections and permits went through smoothly. The work took about 3 weeks to finish, right on time with Avi's estimates, and when it was done, it was beautiful. The new recessed lighting looks great, and we now have a 700 square foot room with our kitchen and living room in it. Avi was also kind enough to throw in a few extra bits of work, like running speaker wires thru the ceiling and rewiring a bathroom lighting fixture, without nickel and dimming us on them. In short, his work was professional, clean, fast, and high quality. Highly recommended.

Our house used to be a duplex, so we hired Avi and his crew to remove the second entrance to our home. He had already combined the rooms of our house a year earlier to make it a single family, and we had waited to decide which entrance to keep. Having lived there for a year, we knew which door we used the most, and removed the second one. Avi initially gave us a number of options for building a new patio, including pavers, masonry, and a simple concrete patio. We also discussed possible walls, trellises, etc. Due to budgetary constraints, we elected to do the simplest option, and Avi was very willing to work with us to keep the cost down. As a result, we decided to just pour a simple patio in concrete, with the potential to do more work on it in the future. Once we decided on the scope of work, it went very quickly. From start to finish, including demolition, hauling, pouring a new patio, and repainting the interior wall, took less than two weeks. His workers were very professional, and kept everything very clean and organized. Once they were done you'd never know we used to have two front doors. We were very happy with the work, and would recommend Avi in the future.

The company called to say that they didn't work in my service area. My money was refunded very quickly.

Me and wife finally save up enough for us to remodel our bathroom, we just bought our first home last year and money is still a little bit tight. So Cal Builders & Design did our flooring before we move in and since they did a great job last time we called them again to come an give us a bid for project, we wanted to make sure we are getting a good deal so my wife insist we get a few more estimates. Avi's estimate came exactly in the middle (same as last time) he wasn't the lowest and not the highest so obviously we went with him again. The project finish on time and as planned, the guys was here every morning on time and Avi make sure is going smoothly. me and my wife are very happy with the final results and next time we wouldn't need other estimates. So Cal Builders & Design just completed a total kitchen remodel for us and they have my highest recommendation! They started 07/20 and finished 8/18. A total redo of the flooring, electrical, cabinets, countertop and painting. Avi is very helpful in dealing with the unexpected in remodeling such as rotten wood, pipes or electrical in the walls where you couldn't see it. Their work and attention to detail is terrific, my new kitchen looks amazing. Again, my highest recommendation.

I feel like an A review will not do them justice! We hired So cal Builders and Design last year to do our back yard on our new (old) home. Being 1st time homeowners we were nervous about hiring a contractor, but boy did we pick the BEST! When it was time to remodel our kitchen we called Avi again, he came to our home to take a look at the kitchen and give a few layouts ideas. He provided a quote the very next day and we were on our way to home improvements! On day 1, Avi came first thing in the morning and took the time to walk us through each and every detail of what they would be doing. We were able to tweak a few things here and there (no extra charge)! Avi answered our millions of questions with a smile and lots of patience. He called us each day to check-in and update us on their progress and next steps. He took care of EVERYTHING! Needless to say, we were more than impressed with everything they touched! So Cal Builders and Design is an exceptional builder/contractor. I would happily recommend them and plan to hire them again in the future.

Scheduling and actually getting together was problematic, missed appointment and tardy for actual meetup. Not out of the ordinary. Design? Avi didn't listen, seemed more interested in what he would do with our space if it were a blank page instead of 30% completed. It was as if he only knew how to do what he knew, rather than bring creativity and imagination to our situation. Delivery? We were told to expect drawings in a few days, I called a week or two later and was finally told he was out of the country. It seems what I received was a quick throw together to shut me up instead of any actual thought to our request. Oh well.

The initial appointment went well. My wish list was received, reviewed, and suggestions were made back and forth about the best design for the space. The return appointment with the completed design was less professional than expected. They showed up stating that they had completed the design. No printed copies of the design were provided. The only digital copy that they had was stored on their cellphone. They stated that their Ipad had recently broken, so we were unable to see a large copy of the design until they emailed it to us a few days later. With this being the case, I would have preferred that they had emailed the design to us before taking an hour of our time for the second appointment.

After having received several estimates and meeting with various contractors, I elected Avi for different reasons. He presented with a more gentle and respectful approach and answered my questions with patience. He guaranteed his work and reassured me I would love it. Now, I have dealt with other contractors in the past which resulted in not a good experience. I have death with others who would argue with me, defend themselves and worse not assume responsibility for their errors. I understand that no project will ever go 100% without issue. That would be unrealistic. When we began the project,.If an issue came up, it would be my instinct to panic. Avi consistently in a gentle tone reassured me not to fear, that he would take care of it. And he did. My end result is gorgeous. Little by little I am adding to my landscape. I have received multiple compliments from friends and neighbors. I am planning to use Avi and his company to do more patio work on the other side of my home. And to construct a new fireplace in my living room.

I have had So Cal Builders & Design redo almost every room in my house. Avi and his team always do a fantastic job, and I have recommended them to several of my friends. Right now, Avi and his team just finish remodeling my entire kitchen which including new flooring, cabinets and counter top. I HIGHLY recommend So Cal Builders & Design.

We met with so cal builders and design last night, we were very impressed with the design and their approach to the project so me and we wife decided to move forward with so cal builders and design. we are very excited and can't wait to see the final results.

Everything was okay. They were good. I think I was looking for a little more imagination, we have a modern-ish style house and the hardscape that he recommended was very traditional nature, replaced the brick with pavers you can stuck on the wall. I was looking for ? we have a sandstone wall ? suggestions to do something that might be different and have a contemporary look. But he did a nice job; he was professional.

After i remodel my kitchen last year with So Cal Builders and Design its wasn't a question how will do my bathroom when the time is come. I called Avi again and he came by and explain to me that we have more that one option of doing this project, he explain to me the benefits, the down side and the different in cost of every decision i'm going to make. We start the project a few weeks after i made all of my decisions, the guys came in the first day and cover everything so almost no dust will get to the rest of the house, thy guys came every morning on time and left my place clean at the end of each days. One of the time that Avi came by to check the project he notice that I have some cracks in my balcony, since his guys was already working at my house he fix it for me at cost. The project was done a few days a head of schedule and its looks amazing. Thank you So Cal Builders and Design for another fine project, i will see you guys in the future for sure!

My experience was okay. The product they provided was so-so. They put some work in it, but the end product was not that useful. The plan they produced was not as detailed as one would hope.
