The pick up on the 30th went fine - the crew arrived when they were suppose to and began the packing process... One issue was that they were all moving so fast that my son was not able to always check what was being loaded into what cartons, thus having to take the foreman's word for what the contents of the boxes were among the 19 items being moved. The "bill of material" then handed my son at the end was barely legible... The real issue came when the van arrived in Park Ridge - we rented a storage unit and when the van arrived, the contents for my son were transferred to the storage unit. The material delivered was one on four or five stops and as the two (driver and assistance) individuals were unloading - two of the items attempted to be delivered were not ours... an ironing board and a guitar in a case. At the conclusion of the unloading - it was pointed out that we believes two boxes were missing. One containing 4 framed posters and another containing a bunch of the cords and material typically needed to hook up electronics and TV's/computers, etc... A check of the truck showed there were no other items to be unloaded... I refused to sign the release and the drive just shrugged his shoulders - would not surprise me if he signed for me afterwards. a Can't prove it - but I am convinced the two delivering crew had mistakenly delivered our two boxes to the previous stop and the ironing board and guitar became intermixed with my son's material. Not a lot of money - but a lot of irritation as the process they followed is just plain sloppy. I would never use them again and only did because they were so highly rated on Angie's list - makes one wonder...

Five guys showed up on time with one truck and went right to work. They wrapped all our furniture securely and professionally and packed almost everything we own while at the same time loading the truck. They were all good guys with good senses of humor, they worked extremely hard, and operated like a well-oiled machine. They took a couple 15-minute breaks and another 30 for lunch and that was basically it during an 11-hour process. They broke only two items -- neither particularly important -- and packed a few odd things (like an empty margarine container), but that was more humorous than anything else. Overall, they were fantastic and I would use them again in a heartbeat. Of course, now we are spoiled and won't ever want to move ourselves again.

I moved from a 2 bedroom/2 bath house in San Jose to a 2 bedroom/2 bath house in San Bruno, and hired Northstar Moving based on the price quoted and the reviews on Angie's List. They were scheduled to arrive at my house between 8:00 and 10:00am, and the crew called at 7:50am to let me know they would be at my house within 20 minutes, and then they arrived 20 minutes later. Super awesome punctuality. They crew was very professional; they introduced themselves, asked for detailed instructions of everything I wanted moved, asked for guidance on a couple of things, and were really focused on getting everything out on to the truck -- they weren't super chatty, they were doing their job. Overall I'm pleased with the move. Everyone I worked with at Northstar was great and super responsive, and I would definitely hire them if I move again in the future.

They were on time, professional, efficient (the 4 guys worked really hard the whole time) and careful with my stuff. The only thing was that they seem a little pricier than some companies ($145/hr for 4-man crew) and charged nearly $100 for supplies (tape, etc.). But, frankly, the extra cost was worth it given the otherwise OUTSTANDING experience. Highly recommend.

doneAfter a week of phone tag I was able to set up an appointment only to have them not show up because they entered the wrong date in their calender. They did quickly make a new appointment for 8 am the next Monday but, after promising the estimate would be e-mailed that evening it wasn't. It came late the next day but by then I had talked to a few people who had used them and had bad luck with breakage. The estimate came too late as I went with someone else.

Great, punctual, and professional crew of movers.

I'd won an auction of office furniture and needed the items moved to my storage locker. I was planning to rent a moving truck and have some friends help out, but they'd all bailed out on me. So, I used Angie's List to find a service. Northstar Moving came through very well. I had no problem scheduling the service, and they arrived right on time. We had limited time to get the items and the team worked quickly to pack the items in the truck and get things across town to my storage locker in well under my time requirements. Everyone involved was professional, from scheduling to the guys doing the moving. Once at the storage locker they did a great job packing everything to the rafters so I still had room for my other items in there already.

The hauling and moving was smooth. However they were un willing to helping set up many items at the end and was asking for extra cash to cover the hour differences.

Generally very pleased.. All items arrived safely. I was kept informed of the progress throughout the process.

They were fantastic. They took very good care of my stuff. Listened to me when I suggested things. Paid attention to those items that I needed special care of. (even though I wrote fragile on the boxes). They were helpful in putting hanging clothes in boxes for me. Any requests on what I needed they responded. I can only say I will use them again. They went beyond what was needed and that is what makes a good company. Not only doing what they are paid to do, but to also go an extra mile to do extra things and not get charged for it. Plus actually being nice. That is how PRIVATE companies mostly work. Government jobs do not do that. They spoke intelligently and were well mannered and courteious. They were professional in every aspect. THANK YOU!!!

John, Ariel and Wayne (?) showed up on time (called on their way to let me know when to expect them). When they arrived they went over all the details with me and gave me an estimate that they would not exceed. It was pretty high and made me a bit newvous, so I told them the quicker they work the bigger the tip! LOL! And boy of boy did they work QUICK! I have used moving companies before and I have never seen movers RUN up the ramp! They were organized and efficient and made sense of all the clutter I had all over the place. They guys were very nice, professional and not afraid to have some fun with their job. (if you can make moving fun in 100 degree heat, you have a special talent!) They wrapped everything to avoid any damages, and so far I have not discovered anything damaged or broken. We we arrived at the new house they went straight to work putting everything in the rooms they belonged in, making it much easier for us to unpack everything! When they were done, John went over all the charges with me and everything was very fair. They do charge for any shrink wrap and tape that they use, but it isn't steep. They used a lot, BUT my stuff was well protected. I had purchased the $150 Angie's List coupon and got a 3% discount for paying in cash. And, Yes, they moved fast and I was sure to tip as promised!! Moving is never easy, but these guys really helped relieve a lot of the stress involved and I would use them again and recommend them to anyone who needs to move! Thanks guys!!

Jessica and Stefy at the office were both very helpful in helping me figure out what I needed and getting the job setup. The crew was running late on move day, but kept me informed of their progress on the job before mine so I knew what to expect. They arrived at 8PM (just inside the arrival window I was originally provided). They were professional and courteous and worked very quickly but carefully until 11:15PM. Jessica checked in with me a few days after the move to ensure everything went smoothly. I will be using them on my next move.

It went well. The crew did what they were supposed to do and were patient . Experience level of the crew could have been better. We were happy with the way they handled the furniture.

The move went very well and totally stress free, thanks to the professionalism of the movers and their sense of keeping the customer happy. Right from arrival, packing, moving and unloading.Despite an hourly rate, I was surprised to see they were very fast. They took care of some packing as well and were fast too. An example of their excellent customer service: I was not ready at the time they arrived and asked for a little more time, though not obliged to do so, they went out of their way and agreed to come back a little later, that was a big help! Beatrice, the coordinator was great as well. The hourly rate is not rock bottom, but if you factor in the fact that you will have a stress free move in a honest amount of time (other providers with lower rates may stretch out the hours), you will come out ahead, plus the Angie's list coupon is really useful. I used Northstar for my move from Seattle area to Las Vegas because a) they had good reviews on Angie's List, and b) their prices were competitive with other movers I got bids from. The driver and van were Northstar's and they hire local packers and loaders at each end that work under the driver's supervision. The driver, Evan, called me a couple days ahead to confirm the scheduled pickup and also volunteered that he could do the loading a day early if I was ready - which I was. I had prepacked everything except the furniture, so that eliminated any concerns about packing dishes and other fragile items. Evan arrived on time with a father & son team hired locally who regularly worked for a local mover. This team was excellent. It became obvious very quickly that both Evan and the local guys really knew what they were doing. They quickly and thoroughly wrapped all the furniture, disassembling tables, etc. as necessary and loaded the van, tagging and inventorying as they went. They were pleasant, careful and just very professional - but didn't waste any time. At the arrival end, Evan again called and arrived a day early. This time he only had one helper. This younger guy wasn't as physically strong or experienced as the Seattle team, and I gathered that Northstar did the hiring, not the driver, and Evan didn't know him before they arrived to unload, hadn't used him before, and would have preferred to have someone a little stronger. Nevertheless, the unloading was accomplished without any casualties. I am very satisfied and wouldn't hesitate to use Northstar again - especially if I could get Evan as the driver. He is a real asset to Northstar.

I purchased an Angie’s List Big Deal for this service and I think it worked out pretty good. It was not seamless, but it worked out pretty well. I did not expect it to work perfectly because it seemed like the type of process where it seemed like there were a lot of different companies involved so there were going to be communication problems. I thought NorthStar did a good job of trying to coordinate everything and the furniture was shipped well within the delivery window, which was good. It actually came too soon. NorthStar hired a subcontractor to do the actual delivery and there was some loss of communication about what needed to happen on this end. The guy arrived and I was told repeatedly I could use a credit card, but I was told I could not. They wanted a certified check or something like that, but he ended up accepting a credit card in the end. So, it was little things like that, communication problems, but nothing that could not be resolved the way they were supposed to. It was not 100-percent smooth, but everything worked out in the end satisfactorily. The price was less than I calculated what it was going to be. They did not pack boxes, but they did pack furniture and did a good job at that.

Northstar Movers have excellent customer service - you had one contact to reach out to for any questions about your move ahead of your move date, they called ahead of time to confirm the move and 30 minutes ahead of their arrival. However when it came to the actual move things could have been a lot better. We were remodeling our new home and didn't have the time before our move to do a lot of packing so Northstar took care of it - for 5 full hours. When we moved from Singapore to the Bay Area six years ago we had 3 movers who were done in 3 hours. I will know better next time. As we're unpacking at the moment I'm discovering the strange logic with which our items were packed and am starting to understand why the packing took so long. Items that were stored and packed away in bags or drawers were individually removed and re-packed (in tons of packing paper) into boxes. If that isn't inefficient (and wasteful) I don't know what is. When it came to the actual move their attention to detail could have been a lot better. So far they have: broken the light fixture outside the apartment we were renting, scratched our newly refinished floor, dented our newly painted walls in at least 3 places and broken a champagne glass that was hastily stuffed into a canvas bag with no protection whatsoever. My tip for future customers: if you want to hire Northstar, be prepared to do all your packing yourself and keep a close eye on moving day. Attention to detail and protecting your walls and floors do not seem to be their strong suit.

The three guys couldn't have been nicer. They were quite punctual, communicative, thorough and extremely careful with my belongings. If cost is no object, these are great movers. UPDATE: I was very impressed. Northstar contacted me about the cost issues, we discussed why I thought it was a bit high, and they made some reasonable adjustments. I appreciate that they listened to my concerns, and resolved them fairly.

I'm very impressed by NorthStar. This is the second time I've used them, and very solid experiences both times. The first move was almost 8 years ago and they were as good if not better than what I remembered. My team of three movers was on time. They moved swiftly and with care. They also were extremely polite and personable young men -- an added bonus. A week later, my fiance was moving but we called NorthStar too late for them to fit us in for a move on a weekend day. We used a different company and it was such a different experience. While those men also were professional and got the job done, their pace was significantly slower. Thus, NorthStar also proved to be a good move economically. I'm a pretty fussy consumer, and these folks really proved themselves worthy of a strong review.

At the very last minute, I'd decided I didn't have the energy to pack up the house. Phoning NorthStar in Chatsworth, I'd expected to hear that a moving company couldn't schedule the kind of services I needed without a reasonable amount of lead time. Speaking with Beatriz, I explained that I was moving in two days. Beatriz was lovely and so helpful. She was able to arrange for the move on the day it was needed. The men arrived on time. They were polite, professional and worked quickly and efficiently. My new home is two stories and the fellows were up and down the stairs too many times to count. They were careful with the furniture (which they'd shrink wrapped) and careful not to damage the walls. The move went smoothly, without any problems. I'd certainly recommend NorthStar in Chatsworth to anyone considering a moving company.

It was a mixed bag: the estimate and the loading were outstanding; the reloading and unloading were so so. I haven't made any damage claims yet so I don't know how that will be handled. The estimator was very efficient and timely. I was impressed. The crew that picked up my stuff wrapped everything so carefully that a bomb could have gone off and not damaged my stuff -- or so I thought. They were fast efficient and polite. I did my own packing and it did not turn out to be a great idea. Many items were broken or damaged. Small stuff but it was evident that the stuff was handled pretty roughly in the unloading and reloading. The delivery was very timely. The goods arrived nine days after loading. I did not receive any updates while the goods were in transit (as promised). The driver was polite and professional. His hired helpers worked very hard. I gave them a B because so many small things were damaged (broken glass, broken bookcase, broken lamp, crushed lamp shade.)
