We hired them to do the structural rough work on a kitchen and bathroom around August 2012. We selected this company for its Angie's list reviews but found out that these guys know how to get good reviews without doing the quality of work required to actually earn those reviews. Here is the summary of our experience: Pros: The only good thing about this company is that Ez, Oz and Eli (the people we had to deal with) are usually on time and respond to phone calls. Cons: 1) The proposed time for completion of the project was 4-6 weeks but they took three months to finish the job. 2) Non familiarity with building guidelines and structural requirements. For example: Unable to identify a load-bearing wall and proposed (in the HOA plan submitted) to demolish it, built a shower almost 1 foot smaller than the minimum size allowed by the code and they failed 3 inspections. 3) No communication between the different teams: For example, the plumber proposed a plan for rerouting the gas line that required some amount of working space but the framing team did its job without coordinating with the plumber, due to which we had to come-up with contingency plans (we had to do it, not Eli, Ez or Oz). 4) Lack of attention to detail: Every single job (except electrical) had something wrong with it like a punctured water line because they missed a stud while screwing a cement board in the shower area (they fixed the problem when *we* discovered it) however they refused to pay for the mold test), bent walls, non-perpendicular corners, sloppy installation of the new toilet flange, sloppy mudding of garage ceiling, unfinished cleanup job: left masking plastic and tape all over the garage. We would have given this company an average rating of C but they annoyed us the most by holding the mold inspection amount as a ransom and asking us to not post a negative review on Angie's list. We had to take them to court (the complaints with the BBB and California Contractor License Board were useless) to get our money back. The whole experience significantly diminished the trust we had in Angie's list reviews. Our response to Oz reply below: You are really good in flipping the story around as you attempted with both the California board of contractors and the BBB. If you didn't like something we did you should have told us earlier (we always payed you ontime and in full, i'm not sure where the cheap or evil came from, from the start we wanted only rough work, nothing more). You even apologized at the end for all the delays and problems and offered us tickets for some cruise that we promptly refused. If you hated us why going the extra mile to apologize and offer a cruise? Just leave. But even if you hate a customer, you still have to respect the signed contract. If you make a mistake you have to pay for it. That's all we asked for. In particular, you told us that you are really honest, but i don't consider somebody that ask us not to post a negative review in exchange for money to be a particularly honest person. Finally, the court ordered you to pay. The judge is an impartial figure and also she recognized your wrongdoing. I'm sure many people told you already, but lying is not a good business practice, there is no need to lie for covering the truth described in a single review. It's much better if you just say that you made a mistake and apologize.

By definition you guys are the worst a contractor can expect to deal with when he is biding a job!!! When a contractor, and it doesn't matter how good he is as a contractor, meets costumers like you guys, it is usually ends by the contractor running away. We stayed! We decided to stay and complete our job despite the fact that early on we discovered that the meaning of cheap and evil has no content before dealing with your type of home owners! Job was completed, inspected and approved by the city but the home owners did what ever they can not to pay there last payments. It didn't surprise us!! They complained about everything. Every day they would come with more requests and were constantly looking to find ways to cut us off. They even complained that a foreman that was staying at there home for 4 hours waiting for an inspector - was rude enough to seat!!! They believed He was suppose to be standing the whole time.... They even sent me a photo so I'll know how rude the guy is cause he was seating... I'm happy to say, thank god we are done! I'm not wishing the worst of my competition to have to go through what we had to go through with you. Oz

The owner gave me the name of a recent customer to call, to help with my research of the company. I called that person, and he gave the company a glowing review. The owner was very responsive to my questions and concerns throughout the entire job. That really gave me peace of mind as the job went forward. The work was completed in a timely fashion. The forman of the crew was very professional, and knew what he was doing. The company even went above and beyond what we had discussed, painting additional areas, just so that everything would match. I think my house looks charming now. I would recommend this this company to my friends, and would use the company in the future if the need arose.

I wanted a basic kitchen remodel. EZ came out and gave me a detailed assessment for knocking out a wall, installing new appliances and countertops. I was very happy with the price and he assured me that everything would look great. Unfortunately, the job was poorly supervised. I asked if I could have a gas range, but EZ said it had to be electric. Luckily my friend stopped by and pointed out that I did indeed have a gas line! I was also asked to pay more money along the way for extra carpentry (a little shelf). The "completed" job was a room full of trash, massive unpatched holes in the walls and ceiling, no paint, no lighting, unpatched flooring from where they ripped out old cupboards, exposed nails and no baseboards for the new wall (an extra $900 if I wanted it). Only after I complained, they came back to clean up and install the lighting, but I had to hire a handyman to finish the rest of the tasks they should have completed. Very disappointing, I wish I could post photos!

I called them because unfortunately, I'm in a remodel gone bad. I needed a bid to obtain a restoration loan to complete the work my prior contractor did not finish. I called to inquire if they would come out to give me a bid on the finish work and if they actually did finish work. I got their voicemail and the receptionist who called me back was very pleasant and told me that they do finish work. I received a confirmation call from another woman who was also very pleasant and helpful. We made an appointment for a Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. At about 12:30 on the day of our appointment, I get a call from a gentleman who asks specifically what needs to be done. I tell him and mention that I'm in the process of obtaining a restoration loan and need to submit a bid, as well as know for my own purposes what I'm looking at cost-wise to finish. He then tells me that they don't do written bids only estimates. I thought this was odd. He said that once I decide to use them, they provide a written bid. I don't know a lot about construction - which is why I'm in the situation I'm in - but this seemed odd. He also asked about the previous contractor and didn't seem very keen on working with a restoration loan. I told him I would still be interested in an "estimate" just to have an idea of the cost of finishing. He hesitated a little and said he would get back to me to let me know what time they could come - despite the fact that we had a 1 p.m. appointment that day. He never called back. So I'm in the process of contacting other contractors. I was a little surprised because this company received such good ratings on Angie's List. I got the feeling during our phone conversation that he wasn't interested in the job, but I would have appreciated it if he would have just said so - maybe it was the restoration loan or coming in after another contractor - I don't know. Obviously, I did not have any work done, and I didn't give them an F because they were very prompt in getting back to me and very pleasant. But, to call the day of the appointment and then never call back is not very professional. I would have appreciated just being told they were not interested in the job.

Description of Work: Left a message with the answering service on a Saturday. Never received the courtesy of a return call.
Overall it went well, although it took a bit longer than anticipated due to additional work we requested due the demotion of complete patio rather than part demo. Contractors were very knowledgeable and gave us some great suggestions. They were a pleasure to deal with - easily accessible, friendly & courteous. All of their sub-contractors were also pleasant to deal with - clean, courteous, & prompt. They also took into consideration that we had 2 dogs living in part of our home while all the work was done. Great job overall.
Description of Work: Remodel of 1/4 of my home (2500 sq ft total), which included small entryway, living room, den & exterior patio. Demolish old patio & sunroom which it turned out was not built properly or safely by previous owner. Demolished sunroom to extend to larger patio. Sunroom involved most of the demotion - removing 3 sliding doors & 3 large windows. Gut the den down to the studs - new electrical, flooring, drywall, paint & ceilings. Install built-in cabinetry with granite, new bar with beverage center topped with granite, new fan, pendant lighting, 2 french doors & 2 windows. Living room & entryway included painting of all walls, original wood floor refinishing, teardown of closet in entryway, recessed lighting, replacement of electrical outlets, & granite on fireplace hearth.

I scheduled someone to come out to give us an estimate. First time, I received a call about 10 minutes past the appointment time saying the guy had an emergency so they need to reschedule. So we rescheduled to following week. Second time, no one showed up. I called the company and the guy I spoke to said he will check with the estimator and get back to me. When I didn't hear back, I called and he apologized but told me they were not able to get in touch with the person who was supposed to come out. I had other appointments, so I cancelled them all together without rescheduling. I do not appreciate people wasting my time.

Jonathan and I met at the property on the 27th of April. He was punctual, polite, and personable. He wanted his brother, Oz, to look at the site, to get his perspective and opinion on what needed to be done to fix the garage and re-roof the main house. So, we set up an appointment for the following Tuesday. I asked Jonathan to send me an e-mail confirmation, so I could put it on my calendar. Tuesday rolls around, and there is no e-mail from Jonathan. So I call him, I can't remember what time the appointment is. He says Oz will be at my home between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM. I ask him to have Oz either call me or text me when he's on his way. Oz did not show up by 1:00 PM, so I sent a text to Jonathan. He texts me back that Oz will be here between 2:00 PM and 2:30 PM. Apparently, my time is NOT AS IMPORTANT as theirs, so I should just wait around until he shows up. I texted back that I had to run errands, and I would try to make it back by 2:30 PM, but to please have Oz CALL ME OR TEXT ME WHEN HE IS ON HIS WAY. I receive no calls or texts, so I do some more errands. I come back to the site to discover the garage door on the floor, with the interior exposed to the elements (it is pouring rain) and potential thieves. Apparently, Oz showed up and, despite the fact that I wasn't there, and the gate was locked, he attempted to open the garage door and access the property anyway. (In other words, he was TRESPASSING.) This resulted in the door collapsing inward. Finding himself in an embarrassing situation, he left. I get my neighbors to help me brace the garage door so that it is once again closed. I call Jonathan's cell, but he does not respond. I send him a text, asking him where is his business partner, but get no response. I call his office and leave a message, asking him to CALL ME. An hour and a half later, I get a text from Jonathan; he tells me that Oz texted him that he'd had a flat tire and was stuck on the freeway. I believe Oz is not being truthful. If that was the truth, why didn't he text ME? Oh, and did my garage door just mysteriously collapse on its own? To date, neither Jonathan (nor anyone else at this company) returned my telephone call. No one followed-up with me to try to re-schedule. I received no bid.

After the person was late my husband was upset. We had mentioned to them several times that we needed someone that had health department experience, nobody seemed to listen to that and the person they sent did not have this experience. Could have saved a lot of time had they sent someone as requested. It is a simple construction project and we have had several quotes to just draw up plans. Their quote was 4 times higher than every other quote, $14000 just to draw up plans is absurd! I do not recommend this company.
Description of Work: Had them out to get a quote for a commercial production kitchen. First of all they were late, and had obviously not planned for any traffic considering that they lived close to the location.

Member. I am responding to your review only after reviewing the information provided by you and after checking the same information with the project manager whom you had the meeting with. To my understanding, the project manager was 20 minutes late due to traffic and I am apologizing for it. As far as the work you are planning to do, it was clear that you need architectural services for a commercial kitchen including all necessary reviews with the health and building departments and that we can provide it to you upon request. The project manager's job is to coordinate it and he is the one to make sure that you get exactly what promised to you. Our price is always including all the details needed and we do not surprise our customers with hidden charges after contract was signed! For a commercial kitchen including the review of both - health department and building and safety by a licensed architect - the price is more than good!!! The project manager was on time calling back with the answers and upon receiving the price you guys just hang up the phone to his face while he was trying to explain it to you. I hope that you will find the right company that will be able to provide you with what you need and won’t have a problem dealing with your manners!

When I called the company, I made it clear that the driveway that was to be resurfaced was on a flag lot and 4 homeowners would be involved, but that I was the only one who would be meeting with the representative. Roy was late, seemed not to be interested in doing the job, and was, I felt disrespectful: when I said that I'd already had 2 estimates and wanted a 3rd to give to the other homeowners, he said, " Why not 5?". He indicated that he would prefer to meet with all the homeowners, which I had made clear was not possible. He paced off - did not measure - the area, gave no details of what the work would entail, as had the previous contractors (all from Angie's list) and his price was more than twice the other 2 estimates. AND THEN he gave me the "song and dance" that his workers would be in the area n 2 weeks, and if we could coordinate with that, he would reduce the price. This is not the way a legitimate contractor works, as far as I'm concerned.

I met with E.Z. who is one of the owners. I told him about the condition of the garage and what I thought needed to be fixed. He thoroughly explained the steps they would take to support then remove and replace the termite damaged face and rear of the garage. He was very friendly and was an experienced professional. He gave me a good honest quote, without some of the games that other contractors play. They were able to start work soon after the contract was signed. Miguel, the head construction worker, was great. He answered all my questions and consulted me about any problems that came up.
Description of Work: Due to much termite damage including the main support beams, the front of our detached garage had to be demolished and rebuilt. Also the top rear of the garage that had a fixed window had to be replaced. A separate broken sliding window pane was also replaced.

Meetings were all VERY professional and Jonathan is definitely the type of leader you want leading a company. Although we couldn't use you guys this time around, we will definitely be hoping to use you in the future.
Description of Work: Jonathan came out to our house in the Valley on one weeks notice and gave us a very detailed explanation of the work that he does and also provided us with a lot of sample pictures and references for the work that his company has already done. He measured our entire downstairs floor (although we were only estimating for a kitchen remodel) so that he could put together a 3D rendering of what our kitchen would look like once his crew had finished the work. He spent close to 1.5 hours on a Saturday morning with us during that initial first meeting. We scheduled another meeting the following Monday so that he could present us with the different layouts for the kitchen in the virtual program that he has. He was prompt in getting to our place exactly at the time we planned (although I was 15 minutes late) and he was very gracious and understanding. During our second meeting he presented us with the 2 different 3D renderings and we were also presented with the bid. We knew from our first meeting what we could expect the cost to be and he was on the spot. Unfortunately, we are trying our best to be on a budget so we decided to let him know that we couldn't use his company. I am very confident that we would have gotten an AWESOME kitchen with Jonathan but at this time we didn't feel like we could confidently spend the amount. We are a young couple and so I am sure that for many families out there, you would definitely find that his price is affordable. Even in calling Jonathan to tell him that we couldn't use him, he was very understanding and mentioned that we are still "friends". He is definitely a honest and hard working contractor and we will definitely be keeping his information for possible future projects and even refer our friends to him. Thanks Jonathan for helping us out with the design ideas and even spending the time to teach us more about remodeling!!!

They were quick to take my call and sent Joseph out for the estimate on what I had explained. He walked through the house as I showed him the place for the window and the custom doors needed. He took no measurements. I even asked how he was going to remember this. Said he would get the estimate to me. He never called me or mailed me anything. I followed up with the office. They took a message but still no one ever called me with the estimate. Boggles my mind that a company would come out for a job estimate- and then never follow through!

We thought that they listened to us very well. They came up with a lot of really good ideas to try to figure out how to do what we wanted them to do within our budget. We got several estimates from other companies too and they were right in the middle. They are working on it right now. The quality of their work has been up and down. They have been messing up on a lot of stuff but they will go back to fix it. However, I don?t know why they have to mess up and then fix stuff. So it?s sort of annoying and they haven?t yet finished the work. I would probably not use their services in the future.
Description of Work: We received an estimate from LAKB General Remodeling this morning for a master bathroom addition and they are currently working on the project.
It went very well overall. It went longer than what we planned, but it mostly caused by mold clearance and change of job scope. Surely it had ups and downs, and Yossi, who is the service representer and job project manager, provided great deal of patient and fantastic service. He even took me to see doctor once, and it was just because I was lazy to drive ;) Surely, the trip wasn't all about seeing doctor, we went to couple of places to select tile.
Description of Work: Great Custom service, and I'm very happy with the interior design, tile selection, etc. I had all 3 bathrooms fully remoduled, and complete kitchen remoduling, plus complete new flooring installation.
