Cool's Custom, and Phil, were an amazing group to work with. We found them through a designer who ended up leaving us through the project. Luckily, Phil and his team were there! Their people ended up helping us with everything from the actual construction to design aspects of the project! Two of my favorite parts of the kitchen are things that their subcontractors recommended! They were punctual, so so clean and patient. I have 3 young children, and I never worried about their safety even though we had walls come down! We had a complete tear down including wall removal, permit checks, and rebuild in 7 weeks! It was amazing. Their crew was incredibly professional, and their work was top notch. I look forward to using them then next time we need to remodel anything!

Waited to long to write this review, so glad Jay took on the project to replace my bathroom floor and shower in my condo. Had outrageous quotes from other companies, others never responding or the job was too small. Great results still a year later, they did such a professional job demoing the floor and shower, then lining the floor i think with a tar like substance to prevent any water damage ever again! Highly recommend.

It went well, although there were problems beyond his control in obtaining materials. He was prompt in rectifinying problems

It was quite nice. I would recommend them. The main contact was able to work with me to find the right solution and the right answers. We kind of worked the project together. It was nice to have that human exchange. They were a little bit more expensive. The net results was quite nice. They were quite nice.

I did not use this contractor because the price was higher.

I'm not young, and I have dealt with more than a few contractors. This experience was the best I've had. I don't know which box I should check above on the question of price. This contractor was not the low bidder, but neither was he the highest. I increased the price by adding some things as we went along for products the contractor told me about of which I was unaware. I'm delighted with the additions and with the fact that I worked with a contractor who informed me of options. I never felt pressured to add features. I certainly feel I received value for the price I paid. I checked "B" above because that equates to "Good." I believe I got a good price. There are always glitches in tearing out portions of an old house. These were handled with grace and professionalism. Issues that in no way could be the fault of this contractor were handled with a change order for time and materials to fix the problem. No haggling; no "that's not our problem." One error was addressed so thoroughly and professionally, the area looked better than it did before the error occurred. I felt throughout the whole project that this contractor had my back. I was confident that whatever new problem was uncovered, the contractor, his subs, and I were a team working toward a common goal. Each of the subs was a master craftsman. The project manager was here every day; even the salesman checked in with me either by phone or in person. There was none of this, "Sign the contract, and I'm out of here." I felt that every person I came in contact with had my personal satisfaction as his goal. Quite frankly, I was astonished by the professionalism, quality, and service level of Cool's Custom Remodeling. I heartily recommend them and would certainly use them again. And my new bathroom is beautiful. There is nothing about it that I don't love!

Initial contact and quote were timely. I got a quote for labor only, as I was purchasing tile and fixtures. However, quote did not take into consideration code requirements (smoke/carbon monoxide detectors and 20 amp electrical upgrade, items which were paid for as change orders) nor did it include moving vent and plumbing for recessed medicine cabinet (which I had on site) and for which installation was requested, and which was not done. I did receive a small credit for this. Owner and salesman did not honor either the coupon on their website or the Angie's List discount, as they said I did not present a coupon upon quote being given. I would think since my quote request listed Angie's List as the referral that would be enough to warrant honoring that discount. The crew did mostly decent work, with a couple small items which I would have liked done a bit better. Demolition crew was cleaner than remainder of workers, so now my carpet has a lot of spots. Communication could have been better, as some days workers showed up with no advance warning. This may have been due to the project manager quitting in the middle of the job. Job took about 5 weeks. I did get a lien release, but this was done after proving that I has requested this within their 30 day window (which seems unprofessional) and after several requests.

Everything from the very first intro, quote process, design process, product selection process, pricing process, demo and install process and followup after completion, was exceptional! Our first experience with a general contractor and we will never look for another - they went above and beyond in every category I listed above. ....This co. rocks with customer satisfaction! We are sending all of our friends and associates to Cools Custom from now on.

Noe (sp?) Jasso did the work. He was very professional and easy to work with. Since we didn't have the original grout, he had to buy some grout at Home Depot. Though he tried to match the color as best he could (we even looked at it as well), the caulking is slightly darker than the original caulk which is still in the rest of the shower. That's about our only issue with the job and it may be unavoidable given that we didn't have the original grout and didn't know the exact color. Overall however we'd definitely recommend Cool's again.

I am so grateful to Jay Cool, and every one of his people who worked on my home. My condo got severely water damaged by upstairs neighbors while I was out of town, and they didn't call or contact me during the 5 days my home was wet. We had to gut ceilings, walls, and floors in both bedrooms and both bathrooms. Most people don't have this much destruction, but the damage to our home was severe because it sat wet for such a long time. Once the cleanup crew sent by the insurance had come and gone, my insurance tried to say the damage to my home was only minor, and that everything could be repaired for only $25,000.00. I was in a panic, and I needed an amazing contractor. Jay Cool has worked on other water damaged homes, so he knew how to format his estimate to show my insurance all the items that they had mistakenly not included in my cost of repairs, and the true cost of everything. He was able to show them items that the City of Mountain View Green Building Code requires, that the insurance would have cheated me out of if I didn't know any better. Though I interviewed many contractors with excellent business reputations, and all with excellent reviews on Angie's List, Jay Cool was the only one who was willing to help me argue with my insurance, and he reassured me that this was something he had done before and would be pleased to do again for me. Jay was there for me, just like he promised, and we got the insurance to admit that I deserved a lot more money. I actually needed more insurance coverage than what I had bought, so we got as much money as I was entitled to, but then we readjusted the plans for my home to control costs, and Jay helped me do that too. But the amazing part is that my home looks like we had a lot more money to spend than what we did. It's gorgeous!!! It's safe, clean, well built now, up to code, and beautiful. I wish I could post pictures to this review. Jay was able to recommend some different places where I could shop for tile, carpet, laminate floors (I like laminate), granite counter tops, and bathroom vanities. By shopping around and really taking some time, I was able to put together some great looking rooms while staying on my budget. But we spent money where we should, like using copper pipe for all the plumbing, and now for the first time ever, I have great water pressure in both showers. I feel good about it that we spent the money wisely. The people Jay sent to my home to do the actual work were all professional, friendly, and seriously good at what they do. They had to match texture in the living room where we had lost the bottom two feet of some of the walls, and they matched is so well that you would never know part of the wall used to be missing. The whole house got painted, and it looks amazing. The tile work in both bathrooms is gorgeous. And I love my new floors. As long as we had to do major repairs to my home, my husband and I decided this was the right time to install a washer and dryer. Cool's Custom did all the work to convert a linen closet to a laundry area with a stacked washer/dryer. They had to cut through concrete slab to run new plumbing, and the plumbing was all done with copper pipes so that it will last for years to come. They had to do the electrical work, Jay's electrician put in a new upgraded electrical panel. I love my laundry facilities that Cool's Custom did for me. Today Jay's guys were here for a couple of final adjustments, and the quality of the work done in my home was so high that I had trouble coming up with anything to adjust. There were just a couple of items Jay noticed when he came to do a final walkthrough, and that he decided he wanted done for me. So in a nutshell, Jay rescued me and my home, and I am 100% happy. A big thank you to Jay and everybody at Cool's Custom.

We are very pleased with them. Jay Cool is the owner and he is the one who came out immediately to do the bid. The bid is straightforward and although he is not the cheapest guy around he is very easy to work with and does goes quality work.

I hired Cool's Custom to repaired a ceiling hole from a 2nd floor toilet leak. The worker was on time and started by laying a paper walkway to the work area. Then he put plastic sheeting around the work area to keep dust and dirt from getting on the nearby furniture and rugs. He removed about 32" x 40" of rotten drywall from the ceiling and completely cleaned the area between the joists of all water and other deposits from the toilet leak. He installed new dry wall, taped and textured the area which required drying for ~12 hours. He completely cleaned the work area, then removed the plastic sheeting and paper walkway. While the plaster was drying he went and matched the paint. Next day he again was on time and started by laying a paper walkway to the work area. Then he put plastic sheeting around the work area to keep any potential paint splatter from getting on the nearby furniture, rugs, and floor. He painted the ceiling and set up fans to help it dry quickly. Once done he completely cleaned the work area, then removed the plastic sheeting and paper walkway. Bottom line: I cannot even tell that there was a hole in the ceiling. Texturing and paint match perfectly. Total time about 3 hours over 2 days I have worked with a number of contractors over the years, but Cool's Custom is by far the best I have seen. They come in and do the job quickly with the highest quality. This is the second job I have had them do and I am so pleased by the professionalism, courtesy, and timeliness that I would not consider anyone else.

For the master bath fixup he gave us several options that allowed us to try to work with our previous contractor to recover some of our losses but ensure that key parts of the renovation were done by his team. Eventually, we just handed the whole project to Jay. He worked fast to get our master bathroom ready, knowing how frustrated we were with not having a proper bathroom for 3 months. All inspections passed on first attempt. He has a very good team for tiling and I would highly recommend using his services for any tiling project. Hall bath project went smoothly and we were very happy with the work.

I did not end up using them, simply because I found another licensed contractor from a friend. I would not hesitate, however to call them if I had another house to do. They were by far the quickest as far as turn around.

They did a good job. The only issue that we had was that they installed a closet slider extended from an eight-foot opening which required cutting into a wall and removing stuff and the doors needed to be repainted but when they hung everything back up, they did not screw the floor piece properly and so the door was dragging. I do not know if you have ever looked at your closet, but generally, on the floor, there is a little separator between the slider doors and it keeps the doors in place. My first action was to call, Jay, the owner of the company, and say, "There had to be something that you did. I do not know what is wrong." He wanted to charge us to come out and look at it but I just discovered what the problem was and I just took it apart and basically figured out that it was the floor piece and then screwed it down tighter and it was fine. Other than that, as far as the construction went and everything else, they did a great job. He was also very price competitive. There was no question about it. They were half the price of everybody else. We have also used them a number of times already in the past 25 years.

As soon as we asked, he scheduled the service and the fence is beautiful. The neighbors were very happy. Jay has also completely remodeled our kitchen, family room, living and dining areas in 2005, and then a couple of years ago remodeled our hall bath into a designer magazine worthy spa bath with a rain shower walk in shower, spa bath with another shower head, gorgeous granite sink and toilet area. The whole thing is handicap accessible, but you would never know! Lots of oohs and aahs for all of these remodels and the designs have served us very well with no problems, even 8 years after the kitchen was done! It still looks brand new.

I requested a quote from angie's list they never even bothered to reply back. I tried to reach them over phone it went to their voice msil. No reply for the voice mail.

First communication was quick and easy. I am hard to get by phone, so a lot was communicated by email (which I prefer). The suggestions that Jay provided helped me make decisions around tile and were greatly appreciated. When it came to the work itself, Jessie showed up on time and cleaned up after he was done for the day everyday. Plus they were able to start the work on my timeline, which I was very happy about. Overall, I would (and plan to) use Cool's Custom again. Price was reasonable, they worked with my timeline, were on-time and clean, and communication was great.

Jay and his office communicated by phone and email and kept us informed of the schedule and planned work. The work was completed by the job deadline. His crew is professional and conscientious. Quality is excellent and the garage looks great.

Jay Cool came to my home, reviewed the required work and provided an estimate shortly thereafter. His estimate included everything we discussed. The project started and concluded on-time. When additional work was required, we executed a Change Order and pricing was very reasonable. Cool's Custom crew was courteous, responsive and did what they 'said they would do' ... this includes showing up on-time. What truly surprised me as they cleaned up each day, every day they worked. Eric was the team lead on both projects and did an excellent job organizing and overseeing all work. Shortly, I will be starting a 3rd project ... a kitchen remodel.

The subcontractor did a great job on refinishing the cabinets and painting the island. Jay Cool had two subs come out and look at the cabinets. The contactor used was very professional and knowledgeable about the work he was going to be doing. The showed up on time and called if they were going to be delayed. The cabinet doors took longer than they originally anticipated but they kept me updated on the progress and the finished product is beautiful. The cabinets look better than new. Would highly recommend them for refinishing cabinets.

Phil came out to give me a quote and although he called to tell me he would be late, 40 minutes after that he arrived. I discussed with him everything I wanted and after I received the quote (which was too high for my budget), we were in contact to reduce the scope of the work and scheduled it for a Monday 8 AM. I confirmed the Friday before via email and Phil informed me that there was a delay from another project and he was hoping to start mine on Thursday. Since it's a 3 day project, the workers had to work Saturday to finish. The workers were very prompt, courteous and did an excellent job. Any lower grade I give is not due to their part; it is based on the performance of the owners. The communication between the owners and workers is poor - the guys knew that I wanted the popcorn removed and the rooms painted and that was it. Not sure why I spent all that time telling Phil the details when it didn't go anywhere. Phil sent me an email that he would be out Friday to check on the job and see if there was anything else that needed to be done. He was a no show, no phone call or email. I guess I will be mailing in the check. Overall I think they have good, skilled workers but their coordinating and project management needs improvement before I would call them again.

Met with Jay Cools, owner of the business and obtained a quote. I was impressed. He listened carefully, had good suggestions, understood what I was trying to accomplish. (This job was not a simple remove and replace.) He said he could guide me in selecting materials to accommodate my budget constraints. He was punctual and professional. No hard sell, no patronizing attitude. Price competitive. It's a large business that does many kitchen/bath remodels. They have numerous recommendations and references of happy clients. Images of attractive remodels. Ultimately I did not choose this contrctor but I would recommend them and I would be willing to use them for a remodel after getting a detailed quote.

Jay Cool did an excellent job from start to finish on our roof project. He worked with the insurance company, which took all the stress away from us. The job was completed quickly, efficiently and to a high standard.

I had three companies provide quotes for the total remodel of two bathrooms and an option to replace my kitchen counter tops. I chose Cool's Custom because his price was competitive and because he seemed to have more experience with tile. I wanted to do decorative bands in the tile for shower and tub backsplashes, so I had wanted to hire someone experienced in laying tile. We had several discussions and revised the quote accordingly. Jay was responsive and patient during this process. I wanted to get the scope of work reflected correctly in the contract, both adding in things that I had at first forgotten to ask about, and removing items that were not needed. An example of the latter category was that I requested the $500 to reinstall kitchen appliances be removed from the contract as all of the kitchen appliances are free-standing and would only need to be plugged in and rolled back against the wall. In the end, we had the contract and work determined well enough, and I was just about to pay the initial deposit and start the work in earnest when Jay contacted me and informed me his company had a lot of work right then and he was no longer interested in doing my remodel project.
