I started my project in in Late June finding the right Company to Install, Repair Squeaks in my 2nd floor before New Carpet is installed. On 7/15 Rob returned my call the same day to setup a meeting for the request for quotes, we confirmed the date/time for him to come out to measure my home and explain the squeaks if they can be repaired, he gave me very good information on the issue and provided a date/time for me to come into the store to review samples of carpet , color, texture and type of foam, When I arrived at the store Rob had many selections for me to choose from based on what we discussed when he came out of my home. I also explained that because of my Arthritis I would not be able to move furniture out of my home, he explained that his team would be move my furniture which was included in my cost. The week before the install, I received a call from the install manager who explained the process and steps on installation and the additional work replacing the screws that were causing the squeaks. On Tuesday the installers arrived earlier than expected which was nice, they identified who they were, explained to me what they were going to do and began work, they were very respectful and ask questions when required, but other than that they moved the furniture, fixed the floor squeaks and installed my new beautiful carpet, they cleaned up as they worked, before leaving they asked me to check and look around, any questions I had they answered or resolved the issue. Conklin made this install seem so easy, and the quality of work was amazing, everyone has asked me who did the work, and I say ?The Great Team of Conklin?

Arrived on time. Explained what they were going to do. Moved furniture, installed new carpet and pad. Put the furniture back. They worked quickly. and were careful with the furniture.

I was dissatisfied with the original carpet in my home, even though it was only 7 years old. It was starting to roll and no longer laying flat. I received good service at Conklin Brother's Almaden showroom and given a wide range of choices. I appreciated taking home several samples so that my husband could weigh in on the options and I did this a couple of times. Quality and durability were my priorities and I was given samples of very good carpet in all price ranges with no pressure at all. The salesman offered me a free upgrade on the padding, and even gave me a sample to take home so that I could get the feel with each carpet sample. The installers arrived on time, did a fantastic job, completed the work and cleaned up everything in one day. This was great as I had company coming over that weekend and I wanted the house to look great. The carpet is wonderful, especially with the better padding. We have received so many compliments about both the look and the feel and we are very pleased with our choice. I was also impressed that my salesman recommended a better approach for laying the carpet on the stairs which now look so much better. He also noticed we had some of the old carpet in a downstairs closet that he had the installers switch out. The rest of the downstairs is hardwood flooring so this was a nice touch that he thought of this as it never occurred to me. And I was happy to see that in the end, there was only a small piece of extra carpet left over - so I know that I only paid for what I truly needed to cover the space. I will absolutely consider Conklin Brothers again for any of my flooring needs. The only downside to my experience was when I was given my quote the upgraded padding was not included as free. When I reminded the salesman that he offered this to me free when I first started working with him, he did adjust the price. Next time I would get these offers in writing before getting to the final quote so there isn't any confusion.

The entire process was very smooth and hassle free. We contacted Conklin bros with an idea of what color and finish of engineered hardwood we wanted and a rough estimate of how much area we wanted to cover (1000 sq ft). Terri came over to our house a few evenings later, with three or four samples of floors she thought we might like, along with the costs and properties of each. We picked one, Terri measured the house, and gave us a verbal estimate for how much it would cost, and how long it would take for the floors to arrive and to be installed. Later that day, she emailed us a contract, and we paid the deposit by credit card. The floors arrived two weeks later, as scheduled. The installers came the next day. The installation took 3 days. The first day, they pulled up the carpet covering the area and began to lay the floor boards. We had to go out of town for a few days, so we left the keys with Terri, and she supervised the crews and locked up after them. When we came back, our new hardwood floors were ready -- the house was completely clean, there were no empty boxes or trash leftover from the installation. The floor was installed cleanly and neatly, with the same grain throughout the house, with no gaps or creaking.

Very pleased with the work. I went to their showroom with a sample of my existing carpet, asking to replace it with something similar. Nelson found a good match, then came to my house to measure everything. One week later they had received the carpet, and my installation was scheduled for 10 days after that. (I had hoped for sooner.) Prior to the installation, I moved everything out of the rooms except the big furniture. The installers (two of them) arrived in the middle of the two hour window they gave. They moved the furniture, dismounted doors, removed the old carpet and padding, installed the new padding and carpet, re-mounted the doors, and replaced the furniture exactly where it came from. They took very good care with the furniture. It took the two of them 8 hours (without a single break!) for 1000 sq.ft. of carpet. The carpet installation appears (to my uneducated eyes) to be flawless. I had arranged with Nelson that the installers would add some screws to a squeaky spot in the floor to (hopefully, no guarantee) address the squeak. However, when the old carpet was removed, we found that there was a hardwood floor underneath, and adding such screws would ruin it, so I decided they shouldn't do so. Of the several places I visited, Conklin did not have the best prices (or the worst either). Their showroom is large and well appointed and that overhead translates into higher prices. But I felt that Nelson did a good job understanding and meeting my needs, and I liked the fact that they employ their own installers rather than sub-contracting. I wasn't disappointed.

We visited the store; Greg was quite helpful in picking out laminate styles for the living/dining room and finding matching floor tiles for kitchen, entry and bathroom. A few days later he came to the house with samples so that we could see them in the actual setting. He provided some good design suggestions, such as putting tile instead of laminate in the kitchen, and where to put border mosaics. He left samples with us for several days to narrow down our choices. However, we did not receive written estimates for the work until a week after they were promised, and after several phone calls to the store. The estimates did not provide a breakdown of materials and labor, so we asked for detailed estimates. It took another 2 weeks of phone calls to finally get those estimates. The quoted costs were higher than other providers and significantly overestimated the square footage. We decided to use another provider who gave us a lower estimate.

I made an appointment to have an estimate for new carpeting. At their suggestion we visited the showroom and selected large samples to see how they would look in our home. On the day of the estimate the salesman was knowledgeable, prompt, and offered sensible suggestions. He helped us to select the best product for our needs and budget. We made a deposit and signed a contract. Conklin's allowed us to remove some carpeting from rooms that were not going to be re-carpeted and then recycled the old carpet from those rooms free of charge. The installation was right on time and the installers completed the job in the estimated time. This was a good thing because we were entertaining that night and still had furniture to put back in three rooms. Overall, I was quite pleased with the professionalism, quality of the material, price, and responsiveness of Conklin Brothers.

The installers worked quickly, efficiently and cheerfully to get all the carpet done in one day, which was very much appreciated. They even moved several items of large/heavy furniture out of the various rooms beforehand and back in after they were done. They also did a great clean-up job, including vacuuming all the new carpet. From the salesperson's initial visit to the end of the project, we felt very well treated. We love our new carpet--it is beautiful and a great improvement over what was there before!

We had water damage to our living room as a result of heavy rains. We removed the old carpet immediately and were left with the concrete slab. I went to Conklin Bros first because I'd read good things about them. I was not disappointed. I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted, but Nelson Said took lots of time with me, going over different grades of carpet and their features. I was able to pick something that worked out perfectly for us, at a reasonable price. Nelson came to the house for measurements, and figured out how to align and cut the carpet for the best appearance and cost. The carpet was ordered, arrived, and was installed on schedule. I was extremely happy with the service, quality, and price.

Conklin Bros came out with samples for me to look at. The service was great since they did extra work. They originally came to do the carpet only and also installed the new linoleum.

Conklin is one of the few carpet/flooring companies in the area that does not outsource their installations. All of their installers are Conklin employees. This is allows them to be very flexible to their customers needs.

My corgi ate the carpet - and Conklin Bros of San Jose - saved it! We had beautiful new carpet installed, by Conklin Bros of San Jose, in May, 2012. I came home a week ago and there, right next to the piano where everyone would see it, was a pile of carpet fluff. In looking further, I discovered a wet square inch with no carpet at all. Our dog, a tough corgi, had pulled up the carpet (I think someone had dripped food on this spot.) I was heart broken - the holidays coming and a bare spot in the carpet. I called our great sales person at Conklin, Gail Irwin, and asked what I could do. She said they could fix it. And fix it they did. Marvin (the world's best carpet installer) came out and made the repair. He used a piece of the remnant we had kept; took out the bad spot; and put in the patch. This patch is completely invisible. I know because I looked for it - just cannot be found. Thank you Conklin Bros - my carpet is perfect and beautiful again! Your team is just the best!

Paul gave me the estimate and handle the whole transaction. He was great. The two employees that came in to do the job was fantastic. I would use them again and would highly recommend their services to others.

Overall, it went well. We only wish we'd been more persistent in overseeing the board layout.

Originally we planned new carpet in two bedrooms and the living room and dining room. We picked up some carpet samples and special ordered one particular sample. It came in a about a week later. During the time we were deciding which carpet to install we decided to look at laminate for one bedroom upstairs. My sister ( who does not live in the house) wanted hardwood floor not laminate. Even though the sales person we were working with was not there at the time , another sales person went over the types of hardwood flooring and laminate. They were very through in discussing the pros and cons of both types of flooring. We eventually decided to go with laminate because it does not scratch or dent as easily when moving furniture or if you have large dogs. It, also, does not need to be refinished. Our sales person, Chris Glomb jr came to the house and measured the entire house including closets since we wanted eventually to replace the carpet in the remaining bedrooms and stairs and he said they would keep the measurements on file for the future. We finally decided on the carpet. We scheduled an appointment with Chris to give him our decision. The master bedroom was going to have a very expensive carpet and the other bedroom, hallway and living and dining room were going to be a less expensive but very good quality carpet. A few days later Chris called with the estimate and offered to throw in a third bedroom on the main level for free. Then we requested the laminate estimate which we also received in a few days. The carpet for the master bedroom had to be special ordered so we were told it would be three or four weeks before the carpet would be installed. Two weeks later the laminate was installed. There was a very tall bookcase and a bed that I could not take a part but the installers worked around it . They completed the job in less time then they had estimated. The sub floor was in good shape so no repair was needed. The went over the cleaning instructions and cleaned up after themselves before leaving. The laminate looks really good and I am very happy we chose it. The carpet was installed the next day. Again,there were several pieces of furniture that were too heavy for us to move and also two bookcases were bolted to the wall and I could not remove the bolts. The installers , again, were more then happy to take care of that for us. They were able to finish the job in one day and the carpet looks beautiful and is easy to keep clean.

Conklin Bros. carpeted approximately 2000 square feet in our home.The quality was/is excellent. Every single thing was taken care of professionally and on time. Sales process: Gail Irwin, our flooring consultant, was very professional. She came to our home with samples that she left for us to "live with" for a while so we could decide on the type of carpet and color we wanted. She quickly provided quotes and answered all of our questions. Once we decided, Gail took care of the rest. Installation: We installed in three phases. 1) The great room - we wanted to make sure we were happy with the carpet color and texture before installing throughout the house. And, as Conklin will take it back if you're not happy, we decided it made sense to do this on a smaller portion first. The installer - Marbin and his partner - were very nice, very professional and even took the old carpet and cut it to fit in our garage. All the old materials were taken away. 2) Two bedrooms, hall, library and stairs. All perfect. 3) Master, baths, walk-ins. All perfect. Overall - I would definitely recommend Conklin and the beautiful Shaw Karastan carpet. It is so soft and beautiful. Can't beat the life-time warranty.

Paul and all the sales people at Conklin Bros. were very helpful and very professional. Jose who installed the carpeting did and excellent job. We are very pleased with our new Karastan carpeting.

Jerry came to our house for free measurement of our kitchen and brought samples of vinyl tile flooring. We visited the show room in San Mateo several times to compare and ultimately choose the product. Jerry was very helpful in his suggestions of type of flooring, pattern and suggestions for possible patterns. Although the installers arrived late, they stayed past normal quitting time to finish the job in one day. They were very skilled and professional; with attention to the small details of fit and finish.

I am now experiencing the cracking issues again with my floor. It had started about a month ago. I have tried calling and e-mailing but haven't had any response. The first time they had to reinstall my floor, it took me 5 months before they would agree to reinstall. Now that I'm having the problem again, I can't get anyone on the phone or e-mail. On September 15, I called and spoke with Pat Gates. Pat instructed me to call Craig Nourie. I e-mailed Pat after I spoke with him to confirm our conversation. When I called asking for Craig he was in a meeting. I sent an e-mail to Craig after my phone call confirming that I spoke with someone who informed me that he was in a meeting, explained the problem I was experiencing and asked that he call me as soon as possible. I have yet to hear anything back from the company. UPDATE Conklin Brothers installed approximately 1,000 sq. ft. of Armstrong laminate flooring in my condo. That first installation had to be completely ripped out and reinstalled, because, according to the second installer, it hadn't been leveled properly the first time. They cut the laminate on my deck and allowed the dust to come into my unit. There was so much dust left in my condo, I had to hire professional cleaners. It took four cleaners two hours. Afterwards, I found an Installation Guide on the Armstrong website which says, "The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has classified wood dust as a nasal carcinogen in humans." The guide goes on to say, "The power tools must be equipped with a dust collector." Conklin Brothers did nothing to protect me from this health hazard. My experience with Conklin Brothers has been a nightmare. In my opinion, they are both unprofessional and extremely disrespectful. UPDATE 7/18/12: This issue has not been resolved to my satisfaction as the company?s response indicated it would be.

They were excellent. The sales person was quite helpful and the installation crew was very good. They removed and replaced the furniture for us as well.

We purchased a very high-quality product and requested a particular installation process. The sales process was smooth and the staff extremely helpful. The installation crew was wonderful -- very hard working and neat! We are quite happy with our new flooring and believe it will serve us well for many, many years.

I got multiple estimates, even though Mancini was a bit more expensive I chose them. The reason is my staircase is curved.

A break in a drain pipe in our Eichler home necessitated replacement of the carpet in our living room and dining room. We received two quotes, and Conklin Bros. whom we had used before, responded with the lowest bid. Bruce was very responsive, polite, informative, and efficient in serving our needs. As above, the only problem with the installation was with the cord in the living room. It was not an easy installation over the concrete slab. The installers arrived on time, removed the larger pieces of furniture, and replaced them afterward. They were clean, friendly, polite, and knowledgeable.

I would recommend them highly. They were neat and efficient, and they did an excellent job. They had the carpeting that I liked. I looked around for carpeting at other places. I also saw them on Angie's List.
