Great service, very responsive. Derek came over to give us a quote and ended up being a less. Would use them for our next move without hesitation.

These guys were great. I always get suspicious when I read only positive reviews, but they deserve them. I used a coupon guessing they would take at least an hour more but did it in the time on the coupon. they also did not have the hidden charges that ALL the other companies I contacted had (no time charge driving from their base to my house, no 4% fuel charge on total bill, etc.). They did an excellent job wrapping a few pieces of furniture and setting up at the new house. Somehow they got a 72" x 72" bookcase around 2 tight corners that looked like it would be a foot short. No damage to any possessions or either house. I definitely consider them a cut above other movers I have used for quality, and were definitely the best and fairest deal of the ones I contacted from Angie's list. I was so pleased I tipped them another 45 minutes of time.

make sure tahI used a "big deal" from Angie's list to get 3 hours of moving service (3 men and a truck) for $279. Additional hours were$109 minus a small cash discount. I called Derek and he was very helpful in setting up a time for the movers to come meet us and answering my questions about the best place to locate the moving pod I'd be having our stuff moved into. The morning of, the three men and a truck arrived early and waited outside until the appointed time so that we could have the last few minutes we needed to get ready for them. My new husband and I were combining apartments, so they started at his place and loaded everything. They used shrink wrap and moving blankets to protect our belongings. I was impressed at how efficiently they moved things out. They then met us at my apartment. When they saw the size of our moving pod, they told me they probably couldn't fit even one apartment's worth of items into it, but would do their best. I helped divide our belongings into high/medium/low priority for fitting in the pod, and they went to work. Amazingly, they managed to fit almost everything from both apartments into the pod. I couldn't believe it. I think it was a point of pride for the crew head to make sure that there was no wasted space. When the pod was completely full, they loaded the remainder of our belongings back onto the truck and helped us unload them at a storage unit. The movers were cheerful, efficient, and professional throughout.

This is an overdue review because I used them to move me a year ago also, but was not a member of Angies List at the time. Both moves were excellent, and obviously I was satisfied since I used them twice. The first move was a year ago, we had our belongings sent to California by ABF freight, and they came and unpacked the truck and moved it into my house. It was a tricky move because at the time we were in a rental with a finicky landlady who insisted that they not use dollies in the house, wore booties, had different people working inside and out to avoid messing up the carpet, ... They dealt with all this very well, and did no damage either to the house or to my goods. They were quick and professional. The only name I remember from that move was Junior, who was the leader. This recent move also went great. For both the packing and the move they were both professional and punctual and did everything they said they would. The packers were three women, Brenda, Christina and Graciella. They worked very well together, fast, and were extremely polite and pretty pleasant, laughing and talking as they worked (but working all the while). I felt that they took very good care of my things. The movers were Ronnie, Joe, Edwin, Ryan, Lyle, and Evan. They were good, fast, polite, and not at all offputting like some movers were (my husband was not there, and sometimes in my experience movers can be a little intimidating if you're a woman). They arrived on time, worked hard, took a half hour or lunch which they did not charge to my time, and resumed working. The house was being painted when they moved in, so there was paint and ladders everywhere, and they were very careful. I went on vacation right away so I still haven't unpacked, but I think they took good care and nothing will be broken. The only slightly negative thing I would say is that by the end of the move, everything slowed down, and one or two guys were basically putting together furniture or rearranging where the boxes were, while the other guys sat in the van or watched. But it had been a long day, and Derek had given me a very good price, and I think this slow down after things are unloaded is probably typical in moving. I would definitely use them again. [Update, 2 months later]: Talk about going above and beyond -- we finally got around to unpacking our files, and when we went to the file cabinet it was locked. Usually movers tape the key to the side. We couldn't find the key anywhere, it must have fallen. I asked Derek to just check with his movers in case they remembered anything special about where it was, even though it had been months since the move. Of course, they didn't, but Derek said he knew of a good locksmith and asked if I could give him the number on the lock. I did, and 2 days later he dropped off a fresh set of keys for the file cabinet. Amazing. A real class act all around. Definitely earns all these great reviews.

Derek( the owner) is very understandable my situation. His company does not move piano, so I have to find a different mover to do the job.

1st Choice Movers provided very good service. This review is a year overdue, but we were very happy overall. They unloaded our packed moving container, including large appliances and treated our items with care. I wish I wrote down the names of this original team. The following week, another team (Ronnie, Joe & Ryan) moved us from an apartment to our home. Again they were kind and respectful of me and our belongings. The move went well and nothing was damaged either time. The owner followed up with me to ensure I (and our belongings) were treated well. I was very pleased and will hire them again should we require local movers.

Well done! We've moved a dozen times as expats and never had as seemless of a move as with First Choice. Our crew; Ryan, Dante, Carlos and Juan were top notch. Derek, the manager took good care of us and did all possible to accomodate our schedule. Thanks guys!

Ronnie, Joe and Edwin arrived a few minutes early, and were ready-to-go. They introduced themselves individually, and went over the move in detail with us prior to doing any work. We signed the paperwork, and they quickly got started. We moved from a 4th floor apartment to a 3rd floor condo, with elevators on both ends, so that helped keep the final cost down, as did the short (only 15-20 minutes) trip between source & destination. Everything was well-protected with moving blankets, and plastic-wrapped, before it left the apartment. They were extremely careful with everything, on both ends of the move. One thing that impressed us was that they asked us before packing and moving anything 'personal,' in our case clothing and several small floor safes. Another big positive was that they were very, very professional (and friendly). Everything was done by about 3pm, including removing all the packing materials that they used. No mess was left behind Many thanks to Derek and his team: the way that they executed our move (together as a team) made moving simple and painless for us. What we ended up paying was exactly what we had expected, no surprises (no dinged furniture or walls), so we recommend them highly, and would certainly use their services again.

Wooooohoooo! IS RIGHT!!! They are amazing and I honestly can not come up with enough superlatives to describe the experience! It really couldnt have been any better. Beyond expectations. Moving from a large Poway home to a small beach house, I had a challenging and emotional move to make. Derek was understanding, professional and excellent to work with. Every step of the move was actually FUN! His staff was so courteous, efficient, and smart. They arrived at the door, introducing themselves with a handshake: Ronnie, Peter, Joe, Ryan and Leo. AND, oh, they SING! I had a blast... my anticipated tears turned into contagious laughter. Then I did cry, because they they were so wonderful. There were endless decisions to make: "This goes, this stays and oh NO!, I dont know what to do about THAT, can you help me?" They had a solution for everything and it was accomplished before I could look for it again. Many heavy, cumbersome and precious items magically ended up at my new home and I am still discovering thoughtful things they did for me. From my art studio of 30 years, they had to move huge furniture, easels, over 1,000 books and artworks up a steep hill to the trucks. If I could have, I would have made dinner for them..but we were all so tired. What a great Crew, Derek! I miss them and I wish I could do it all over again! Really. Best regards and Happy New Year!

dAfter cross referencing Angie's List, Yelp and friends referrals, my choice in movers came down to two excellent companies. I was swayed to 1st Choice Movers because of the extremely complicated driveway (very steep and narrow) at my new house and my serious concerns. Without me asking, and before I even owned the new house, and before I had made a decision, Derek (owner) went out to see the new house and complicated driveway and proactively informed me that (a) he could handle the move, (b) he would bring two specific trucks (with higher clearances) to ensure the move would go smoothly. His efforts during the bid process gave me the confidence to chose his company, as i was at least confident that my stuff would get to the location (and would not have to be carried by hand up a 200 foot driveway)! I used 1st Choice Movers to pack (the day before) multiple rooms in my house. The packing procedures, efficiency, and excellence in both packing (and unpacking) was great. I'd give them an "A". Aside from packing services being pricy, I got great value out of it. The employees were well chosen too, and it was not a bother to have them in my home during the pre-move chaos. On moving day, probably about 8 movers showed up to eventually pack a truck and 3/4's. I really can not say enough good things about the employees of this company. I couldn't believe what great attitudes ALL these guys had when moving a lot of heavy things in/out for 13 hours! It like they were on 'happy and friendly' pills! If i wanted to point something out or ask for 'special care' on an item, they would stop what they were doing, and pay complete attention to my request, then execute on it. It was VERY comforting to have them taking care of my possessions. They were great, fast, efficient, careful, caring, attentive, basically everything i could have wished for (and what I was hoping but necessarily expecting) to get. Once the trucks were filled up, the owner Derek (who apparently had much experience moving himself in the past) came to my location, and he drove the trucks up the driveway himself to ensure everything worked out perfect. The team worked about 12-13 hours, and even put up with me asking for furniture to be moved/re-moved a few times as i was trying to get comfortable where i wanted things in my new house. They assembled the crib & beds, and did whatever i asked (and again, with a great attitude which really mattered after a long day)! My only knock on this company would be: a) I asked for them to wear 'booties' for the carpet so their shoes wouldn't get them dirty, but the request was ultimately ignored. I understand and didn't want to make a thing of it as this was not worth worrying about (we just never wear shoes on our carpets) b) There were some situations where the men's hands were dirty and some of that dirt got on our 'stuff' (which they were carrying both 'clean and dirty' stuff, so i understood this too. I'd rate them 4 1/2 stars overall. If they had worn gloves to protect the cleanliness of some of the more 'precious' things and had worn booties for the carpet, it would have been 5 stars. Again, i didn't push them on these two items, as there were larger priorities like to get it done, not break things, etc. Thank you to Derek and his team. Job Well done.

They helped us move in plenty of time and were very professional. We had to reschedule at one point and were accommodated without any problem. I wished we had more stuff to move. 1st Choice made it very easy.

The house we were moving to still had their furniture in the house due to a large moving van breaking down in Las Vegas. Derek's workers were great and actually moved their stuff to the front yard so we could proceed to move our stuff in. I don't think another company would have done that.

Overall move went great! It was a rainy day and they did their best and kept our stuff dry!

I had originally planned to use this company but lost confidence when i was told that I would not have the signed contract until the morning of the move.

Moved was about 8 miles from a two story apartment to a 2 story house, but it was a lot in the 2 bedroom apt, packed a truck that is for a 4 bedroom almost full. Mostly heavy items and 3 movers did it all. Came early hard workers and professional.

Excellent. Derek is the owner and he came out before hand and gave us a quote. On the actual move day three guys showed up. Asa, Gary, Ryan, they worked like they were being paid by the job and not by the hour. The were extremely efficient yet took extreme care when wrapping everything assuring that nothing broke and that everything fit. The wardrobe boxes they brought were very handy. They ate their lunch while enroute to the new house and unpacked everything very quickly. They reassembled the beds and didnt leave one nick or scratch on the house or the furniture. Nothing was broken. They finished before the quoted time and endeded up coming in under the quote.

Due to a rather unpleasant noise issue with the business downstairs, it became necessary for us to move out of our old residence fairly quickly. On August 2, I emailed 1st Choice Movers requesting a move date for the morning of August 10. Derek responded right away and, even though they were nearly booked solid through the 21st, he was gracious and accommodating and managed to squeeze us in the morning on the date I requested. Derek answered my numerous questions and stayed in contact up to moving day. The move itself went extremely well! Derek, Juan, Edsin, and Zeth showed up well before our 8:00 AM start time, and they all worked quickly and efficiently to get all of our stuff loaded into their moving van. Once everything was packed up, they met us over at our new residence just a mile away and unpacked all of our belongings just as efficiently. They were all very helpful and considerate, asking where we wanted the furniture and placing boxes in the correct rooms. The entire move took less than three hours and everything arrived safe and in good condition. The amount I was charged was more than fair, especially for four movers with their own truck, and they were all always very courteous and professional. I can't thank these folks enough for making our moving day calm and stress-free. Thank you, Derek! Thank you, Juan! Thank you, Edsin! Thank you, Zeth! When we need to move again (hopefully not for a long time!) you'll be the first number we call. Oh, and these guys work really hard, so make sure you tip them generously!
