It was a painless experience. I showed up there and Mark walked me through the various options, once he looked up what would work in my car. He was open to my research, and we settled on a mid-range head unit. He talked me out of a higher-end unit because of concerns with the readability of the display, as well as encouraged me to wait on speakers until I heard how the new setup sounded. Because they had a cancellation, I had all three of the tech's working on my car. That meant that they had the old unit out, the microphone installed, and the new head-unit in, in less than 45 minutes. The iPhone bracket I ordered wasn't in stock so it was back ordered. Mark called a couple of weeks later when the unit came in and it took less than 15 minutes to install. Wasn't the cheapest quote I recieved, but it was fast, easy, and well done.

My first experience following reviews I found on Angieslist. These guys were fair priced, prompt and very professional. Took some time beyond what was required to show me a few things about the deck. They were great!!!!!

They were prompt, polite and effective. I would definitely recommend them.
Description of Work: I have a Lexus SC 430 and the sound quality of the audio system was bad. I took it to Soundwave and they immediately knew what was wrong. Apparently this model car had a known issue with the door woofers (whatever that means) and they were able to quickly fix the problem.

Review of Sound Wave in San Carlos ***** I decided to replace the radio in my '94 Jaguar because I wanted to move into the 21st century.... After seeing good reviews for several installers, I called one and they told me that they had the cabling and no modifications of my car was needed; then they recommended Kenwood unit. I had previously learned that no one probably makes a face plate and no one probably makes a cable harness, I chose not to deal with that one. I next called Sound Wave after seeing their good ratings, and in talking to David I was confident that he was knowledgeable and that I should go in and see what was available. I chose an Alpine model and later David installed it. He made a faceplate from one he had in stock and he was able to marry the Alpine to the wiring. I am very impressed with him and Mark, with whom I talked. and I can recommend Sound Wave to anyone that wants quality work, professional advice, and quality choices.
Description of Work: This is a klutzy review process at Angie's List. I merely want to commend Sound Wave for their good work, but this review system seems to only apply to home services even though I got the original recommendation from here. Maybe Yelp is where this review should be. I am now wondering why I am paying for this site.

Good troubleshooting and practical advice led me to select a new radio that would solve both issues. i was expecting a complicated installation but the installer had the right tools and did the installation as if he'd done it a thousand times before. He probably had. The shop was clean and well organized.

I wanted to upgrade my car stereo to have an ipod hookup and HD radio. Mark was very good at explaining the options and features of the different units they have in stock -- both good and bad -- and made me comfortable with the price and time estimate for installation. I went and checked their prices, and they were definitely more than you would pay if you did it yourself, but if you're going to install your own car stereo, you're not going to come here. I called the next day to schedule an installation and turns out they had a cancellation that morning, so I went right over and got my install done. I was very pleased with how quickly it went and the quality of the deck and the install were both very good. I had some post-sales questions a week later and Mark pulled up my file when I called and was very helpful. I can definitely tell they are interested in having a long-term relationship with their customers. If you need a new car stereo and don't want to worry about getting ripped off, I would say talk to these guys because they will do good work and sell you good stuff. If you're interested in saving every last dollar, I think these guys are not the cheapest out there. For me, it was worth a few bucks extra to not have to worry about anything and to be able to get it done quickly. I would definitely use them again if I had more car stereo needs.

The head unit in my 2002 Volvo C70 stopped working after I jump-started the car because of a dead battery. The Volvo dealer said it was fried and recommended replacing it (at a pretty high cost--I think the replacement head unit was ~$600-700, plus installation). I thought maybe I could do better in terms of price and performance by getting an after-market head unit. I called up Sound Wave because of the good reviews on Angie's List. Mark, the front-of-the-store guy, and Dave, the hands-on-take-apart-the-car guy, met with me, looked at the car, took the head unit out, and discussed various options. They convinced me that a new head unit might not be the best plan, because the current multi-channel system was complicated and a new head unit might not drive all of the myriad amps and speakers right. They recommended trying to repair the head unit and, if I wanted, adding an adaptor for an iPod with a modification kit. They succeeded in repairing the head unit (at a cost of ~$150 or so) and I decided to splurge on the iPod adaptor. I'm very happy with the results. I was also extremely impressed with both Mark and Dave. They both really give you the impression that they are authentically into car stereos, and that doing an outstanding job is a real priority for them. And Dave not only did the installation well, he replaced some fuses, vacuumed leaves out of the ventillation system, and fixed a stubborn under-dash panel at no charge--stuff that he didn't have to do, but that he knew would be good to do. I can't remember the last time I was this impressed with a service provider. Thanks, Dave and Mark!

These guys are top notch and super professional. I HIGHLY recommend them. They have over 20 years experience working on car audio systems. My car was a mess of wires. I had a cassette deck radio. I also had a battery operated bluetooth handsfree kit and a Garmin navigator with lots of wires hanging off of it. They took the entire mess and replaced it with a system that does everything. All the wires are hidden. They do more than installing equipment, they integrate them so it seems that they are part of the car.

Mark was great and took the time to really listen to what I wanted/needed and made some great suggestions without trying to sell me stuff that I didn't need. His guys did a first rate job with the install and corrected the issues that I brought up. They also identified the source of interference that I had been suffering with. The trailer was ready as promised and the system works better than I could have hoped for.

Mark and his team did a great job. After searching for a professional installer and got lot of inflated prices and ego - some didn't even bothered to listen to how I would like the unit installed - came across Sound Wave. Mark took the time to check the car and even gave recommendations on how to install the car-kit for the best use. Also found out Sound Wave also services the limited editions car of some of SV's celebrities and executives. You can definitely trust Mark and his team to do a great job.

Soundwave is probably not the cheapest installed, and my installation wasn't without problem. However, their customer service is second to none and if you have problems they'll remedy them immediately. They also don't push more or better equipment on you than you need. Overall, I highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Soundwave installed Sirius in two cars, installed iPod integration systems into two cars, and installed a stereo head unit into one.
