Fast Water Heater Company

I got 50 gallon with longer warrantee for $160 more. They said they would come between 12 -2. Then when I paid for the deal they said 2-4. No one showed up no one called. I called them and they said technician was delayed because prior job took a long time. Technician told us about his truck breaking down. Sounds like company lied. He came at 6:30 and finished at 9:30. More money racked up because of code updates and permit. About $400 more. This seemed like false advertising. Company was in Washington state and not in Concord California like ad showed. Technician was local. He did a very good job but took a long time. When job was completed my husband smelled gas. Technician had not closed valve properly. We had to cancel dinner date at 5 PM that night due to 4-6 hour delay and lack of communication. I would prefer to use my neighbors opinions on good plumbers/contractors rather than Angie's List in the future. Still don't have permit to submit to my city. It's been a month. Called them and they said they were back logged. They never called me to tell me this. I never got a permit and the city might revoke their contractors license.

The water heater stopped producing hot water the Saturday before. After several attempts by myself of trying to relight the pilot (by following instructions in the manual), I realized something was wrong. I called Fast water heater, since they were the ones who installed this water heater in 2011. They said I should order a "Pilot light kit" from the manufacturer, Rheem/GE, and provided some 800 numbers for me to call. I waited until Monday to call Rheem. They shipped the replacement kit to me which arrived Wednesday 12/24 Christmas eve. Since the heater was under warranty, the kit was free. I then called Fast back to make an appointment for installation. Because Thursday was Christmas, Friday was the soonest they could come. The person came Friday before noon, said this was a common problem in his experience, and installed the replacement kit. The heater worked fine after this and is still working fine a month later.

The company was unable to perform the work for when we had scheduled so I did not end up using them.

They persuaded me to go ahead with an electric heater and told me not to get a permit from the city. I wasn't comfortable with that so I ended up contacting the city for a permit. They told me I couldn't replace a gas heater with an electric heater. I tried to get the company to straighten it out but they gave me the run around and I've since given up on them. I'm now out of compliance with the city and am going to have to pay out of pocket for a new gas heater.

The only thing this company was good at was showing up quickly. The installation was functional but I made them come back out because the water heater was leaning and esthetically looked terrible. They fixed it the best the could but it still ended up looking like crap. At least we had hot water. They extended my warranty to 15 years because I complained. No big deal, they could have made it 100 years and it does not matter. That is a joke. The water heater failed in mid December 2014. The burner would not stay lit. I called them for parts and to have them come back out and fix it. I understand the labor is only warranted for one year, so there would have been a charge for that. Turns out they no longer handle the piece of crap they sold me and told me to call the manufacturer direct for the part. I was on my own for the repair. They were not interested in taking care of the problem. I called the manufacturer and they sent out the parts, except they were the wrong parts and did not fit. After a week of no hot water, I had a new heater put in by another contractor for half what I paid before.

They gave me good advice to solve a water temperature issue.

The person that came out was on-time, professional and did a meticulous job. However, I used the coupon advertised on the site for the water heater which we got at a good price, but when it came to installing it there was an additional $510 added on to the price. It wasn't clear in the ad how much more the installation would cost. It ended up costing more than our neighbors water heater which they bought full price, but with installation included. (Same brand of water heater too!) So, they did a great job putting it in, the area was left neat as a pin, but the cost was not made clear until they were actually here installing it.

He could not do the job, out of area. 1000 miles away in another state.

He charges too much. The estimate was free, but he wanted to charge too much in extra fees.

He was ok. Told me I may need to have it flushed out again in January or February.

I know there would be some added expense for the project, but not another $3k

They were scheduled to be here between 9-11 am. They called and said they'd be late two different times during the day and then the tech called me himself saying he'd be here at 7:30 pm. He finally arrived at 8:30 and was here an hour. He said there was a lot of work involved in replacing the water heater and it would be an extra $1000.00. I decided to request a refund and use a different company.

Phone and e-mail contact with company was excellent -- an A+. When the first installer arrived, he balked at starting without knowing where the cold water shut-off valve was, and dictated that I give all other residents 24-hour notice of the shut-off. This I found within reason and to be true. I hired a plumber to come out and explain -- added cost. I then rescheduled. First installer cancelled -- second installer arrived in perfect time and (eventually - after numerous other roadblocks thrown up) said that he couldn't do the work until I had my neighbors in adjoining units (connected to a common cold water feed) "drain the water from their lines into their sinks" in order for the work to be done on my water heater. He then left. First, I'm going to involve two of my neighbors -- this is a condominium building. Second, as I'd just seen a water heater installed the week previous to the unit above me, I know a water heater can be installed without involving other neighbors' labor in their own units. This may be an excellent company for single-family residences with free-standing water heaters. Faced with eight water heaters in a row in a multi-dwelling building, they seem more interested in coming up with reasons why they shouldn't be there than just saying they can't or don't want to do it.

They came two times, the first time they determined that the water heater would not fit, so they came the second time and were able to install a different water heater. Their clean up was very good. There was some confusion about the permitting. I thought they were going to handle the permit, but it appears it was passed back to me. This was a kind of a confusing matter.

Very unprofessional customer service. Actually poor to non-existant.

The plumber sent was very thorough and went over what was included in the offer and what upgrades and additional work needed to bring the service up to plumber codes. We were very pleased with the final installation.

The deal was for $799 which was to cover the water heater and installation. I ended up paying an additional $588 for various extra needed parts and labor. One of the additional parts was an expansion tank for which I was charged $159, but the fine print of the deal said it would be an extra $125 (didn't notice that until later). I may have been charged twice for a shut-off valve too, it's hard to tell from the bill. I'm just glad it's done.

The installers were efficient, answered all my questions, called ahead and were on time.

Rex O came to my house to replace my dead 10 year old, out of warranty water heater. I live in Santa Clara, and his area is up near Sacramento, so came quite a distance to perform the work on short notice. He worked quickly and performed the replacement at a cost less than originally estimated (always a great surprise!). I highly recommend Rex to perform water heater replacements, and Fast Water Heater Company in general for their quick service, we went without hot water for less than 24 hours. They really earn the name "Fast" Water Heater Company!

It was fine. They were courteous and punctual. The deal was straight forward. Scheduling was easy.

Mohammed from Fast Water Heater did the work, and he was prompt, courteous and professional. He assessed the old water heater setup and walked me through the process for replacing it. He informed me along the way as to what upgrades/improvements could be done along the way, and let me choose whether or not to have them done. He was neat in installing the new heater, so cleanup was minimal after he left.

It went well. There was added expense for a city permit which was a surprise. Otherwise I was very pleased. He removed the old water heater and installed the new one. It was done quickly and he left the area nice and neat.

So, the guys came and saw that it was still under warranty and could just be replaced. I did pay them extra for a couple of extra changes. They were sincere and honest. They seemed a bit gruff at first. But then I realized they are from a different culture and then they softened up too. Thank you for your special. If I didn't see it, I might have forgotten about it and I really needed to have it checked out. It was providing much less hot water than before and the extra canister was leaking.

Although the company was given the make and model number of my existing water heater, they apparently didn't check into it; the water heater that was to be installed is not the correct configuration.
