I am very satisfied with them. They came out in a timely fashion. They put them all in and it was a very high quality product. I really liked the shutters and they are helping me save energy in my house. They make my house look a lot better inside. There were no problems at all. The gentleman who came out was very knowledgeable about what he was doing. He was very friendly and efficient as well. If I ever need the services they offer, then I would definitely use them again in the future. I have also recommended them to my friends already.
Description of Work: Hall's Window Center installed plantation shutters throughout my house during the first part of last year.

I was very impressed by the courteousness of the installers, the thoroughness of their clean-up, and their professionalism. The windows are just as ordered, and the installation went exactly as planned with no surprises. I would absolutely recommend them, and will definitely use them in the future for any window needs.
Description of Work: Hall's Windows changed out 5 of our windows. The installers, both named Rob, did a fantastic job. Our home is on a hill and 2 of the windows that were changed were at about a 3rd story height, and even with the rocky, uneven terrain below they changed the windows without incident. Another window, in a bathroom, has travertine tiled around it to make the windowsill. I was worried about this being damaged during the removal of the old window and/or the installation of the new window; however, the travertine was not harmed in the least and the new window looks fabulous.

Our last job was a little disappointing due to poor communication and appointment times but this time no problems with this detail. We think Andersen windows are top of the line and while the price is a little higher the quality of the product and the superior installation provided by Halls makes up for some of the difference over other windows. We used Rick Wicklund in sales both times and wouldn't consider anyone else,he's the best. If you get a choice,we recommend you request Kieth for your lead installer, that way you'll get a top of the line quality craftsman installing your windows.
Description of Work: This is our second job done by Halls, this time we installed two kitchen windows and a slider window in our washroom. Our kitchen's crank out from the bottom (a nice choice for us and the smaller window is a slider ).They came in paint grade wood and were primed and ready to paint upon installation.

Hall's installers were on time and quite competent. The units were delivered about 30 days after we signed the contract and they were installed on the date promised. The units were exactly as ordered and were installed in one day in approximately 6 hours. Clean up was thorough and the install was immediately ready for completion by the finish carpenter. A damaged panel and a broken glass insert was pointed out to me by the installers and I was assured that Hall's would be able to replace said units as soon as possible. I was contacted by Hall's the next day and they scheduled a repair appointment for 30 days out. On the scheduled repair date, the installers were on site to replace the damaged units. Keep in mind that this product is not cheap and I would expect this level of service from this retailer. You get what you pay for (corny but applicable)
Description of Work: Installed two 6ft glass sliders and one large picture window. Installers removed old windows and framed in new 6ft slider to replace an old 9ft slider. Installed sheet rock and insulation in area of old unit. Additional replacement exterior siding was NOT installed by Hall's installers. Another contractor was used to complete sheet rock work, exterior siding and painting. This arrangement was agreed to by all parties before contracts were signed.

Because the door is built for each order, it took about two months from the date of the order to installation. Halls is a well managed organization. All representatives were professionals who knew their business. All phone calls were promtly returned, and all appointments were right on time. The leader of the crew which installed the door took great care and pride to get it right. The show room and staff there were very helpful.
Description of Work: Purchased a Jeld Winn fiberglass front door. The door was manufactured specifically for our house and services included installation, along with new hardware, threshold and frame. In both heft and looks the door and window exceeded our expectations. It is solid door, and window, which also looks great. The detail of the window is superb. We did not realize it when we purchased the door, but it is alsos a great energy efficient door. This is an expensive door, in my opinion, and worth it. The price is fair for the product and service.

Hall's has a local showroom in Sacramento, which gave me confidence in learning about the company's products, and in their accessibility should I have questions or concerns. I initially contacted them by phone in late June, and ended up dealing with several different representatives at different stages of the process. There were a few minor glitches along the way, but they were all rectfied to my satisfaction. Some examples: * The sales rep, Tom, failed to send me a written copy of the estimate within a couple of days; I called the showroom, and the owner, Bob, made sure that it was generated and sent out. * I had heard about a potential legal issue in that subcontractors could place a lien on my house for payment of their fees even after my check to the general contractor clears the bank. The business manager, Andy, was happy to send me written confirmation that they would not use any subcontractors, and provided a lien waiver release on final payment. * I realized a week before installation that the framing between several closely set windows had serious dry rot. The installation coordinator, Tony, came out and looked, and promised that the installers would have the supplies needed to deal with it properly as part of the package. Hall's also provided me with an extensive list of referrals. I spoke to three of them, who indicated that they were pleased with their windows (not necessarily the same model I was ordering). Hall's gave me a clear idea of what to expect during the install process. I moved all furniture away from the windows and covered everything with drop cloths. Hall's literature claims they'll help with this, but I figured I would take some time to do it right beforehand. They also claim to reattach window coverings after installation, but I'm getting new ones anyway. The installers, Keith and John, arrived promptly at 7:30 am, and by 10:30, they had removed all of the old windows, inserted (but not sealed) the new windows, in the process completely removing the rotted wood and reconstructing the rough opening for three windows. By 12:30, they had applied extra composite framing to fill the gaps between the windows and frames, caulked everything with colors to match the windows, cleaned up, and left. One issue that I am not pleased with: These windows have no option to install a security device that allows the window to be opened a few inches but no farther. Hall's/Andersen's theory is that it's not really secure; I have to take their word on that. These windows are solid; they noticeably reduce external noise (I live on a corner near a high school). They operate smoothly, although it takes a bit of effort to lift the sash if you're not right alongside it. Everything operates well, and even without a new paint job, they've really improved the appearance of the house inside and out. Energy savings remain to be seen. Hall's followed up with a statement I can use for tax credit purposes. They will also do a one-year checkup of the windows on my request.
Description of Work: Installed 10 double-hung and 2 picture windows as replacements for the originals in my 1950s-era house. The large picture window, at 6'x6' with tempered glass, comprised $2200 of the total cost. The windows are "Renewal by Andersen," made of a wood/vinyl composite, claimed to incorporate the best qualities of both materials with the drawbacks of neither. They qualify for the current federal energy efficiency tax credit (U-factor 0.29 and SHGC 0.21), and contain significant amounts of recycled material. They provide small selection of interior and exterior colors at installation, and can also be repainted.

Sales rep (Rick) was good to work with explained the product and helped us decide on style color etc. (even made a courtesy house call). Tony came out and measured for door and windows. Crew arrived on time and installation went fairly well ( we had them come back and "clean up " the caulking around the windows). Then things"went south" they dropped the ball on scheduling the painter (a sub contractor who did a great job for us) and were almost impossible to get a hold of (did not take or return calls) this put our job on hold, cost a week-ends time and was very upsetting and frustrating for us. After finally speaking to the owner of the company they did try to "make things right" and sent a rep from their window center to help us reinstall our window treatments and blinds. This was a nice gesture on their part but when one thing goes wrong it can really affect your judgement on the complete and final job. RECOMMENDATION: When someone gets up at 7:00 am to make sure they can speak to a Hall's rep--return the call promptly --when you set up an appointment double check and call the customer to confirm.

Excellent customer service both times. Can't say enough nice things about it. The installation & product quality of the Andersen windows & doors was top-notch and excellent. They always went the extra mile to assure full customer satisfaction. The first time (1-1/2 years ago), they referred us to an outside contractor (non-employee) to do the interior staining, with less than spectacular results. Although Hall's later volunteered to immediately make good on it with no hesitation and did so, even though it was not Hall's fault & even though they were not legally responsible. But now they are controlling the staining & painting operation from in-house as part of the basic contract, with top-notch results. We definitely plan to use them again when we complete our remaining windows and a solid wooden interior door. Wouldn't think of using anyone else.
Description of Work: This was the 2nd time we used this company. Spectacularly good service both times. No complaints. This time they retrofitted 4 windows with fancy new Andersen wood windows with pine-color interior staining. Flawless installation. About 1-1/2 years ago, they installed 2 massive bay windows & a sliding French door.

Around August, I realized there were scratches on the sliding glass door frame. I called them, and the person I talked to almost accused me of lying. The owner was very upset with the employee, and they came out and were happy to replace the door. There were scratches on the new door, and the two after that! They tried to buff the scratches out, but now I am angry that I have put up with a damaged door. I want a door that doesn't have any scratches! They promised me a new door this month and I now feel the situation is resolved. They have responded each time a problem has arisen.

This was our second install by halls windows; Anderson renewal. Our first experience was a "test drive"; we spent 15K and everything was wonderful. The people and the work couldn't have been more perfect, so we hired them for our second install (35K); it was a nightmare. The company had changed ownership, and had changed their practices. They went from a valuable, first rate, trustworthy company to a shoddy, unprofessional, slam bam substandard installer that refused to stand behind their work and their accidental breakage warranty. They installed all the windows with no sill flashing under the flanges. We had 4 independent contractors look at there work and tell us it was substandard and would not pass an inspection. They would not come back and repair their work even when we offered to pay for materials; this is on the south (weather side) of the house and water resistance was our most important factor. I would never, ever, use them again, and I considered filing a lawsuit.

I can not say enough about this company. From the very start, all the employees I came in contact with were professional and competent. Estimator/salesperson was professional and on time for appointment. Windows arrived on time, and were installed in a professional manner. Glass specified for new door was not what we had ordered. Hall's staff were rigid and unprofessional in attempting to address situation. Hall's staff were unresponsive to request to pay for work done by credit card after a miscommunication. Multiple efforts to address this were unsuccessful. Although I am impressed with the windows and workmanship, overall I am very dissatisfied with Hall's behavior after the sale. Ultimately, I would not recommend them despite the good quality of their work.

Response from Hall's Window Center
Regrettably, this customer became frustrated of his own accord. We feel strongly that his criticism is both misdirected and unjust, we feel compelled to respond. To our customer's first point, the door, we conducted an appointment after the time of sale specifically to take exact measurements and review/approve the details of the contract. At the time of installation, the customer noted that he had wanted obscure glass in a door. The signed contract did not call for obscure glass in the door. In the interest of customer satisfaction, we offered to frost the glass in the door at no cost to the customer. The customer refused the solution. To the customer's second point, payment, we accepted payment from a member of the household. Several days after that, we received a call from the customer indicating that he had intended to use a different method of payment and insisting that he receive a cash refund and be permitted to use said alternate method of payment. After some investigation, we agreed to the request with the condition that the customer incur all applicable charges to do so. The customer agreed. We completed the transaction within eight hours of the initiation of the concern. We graciously accept deserved criticism. In this particular case, while we will be diligent in our attempts to learn from the experience, we are adamant that we not be held responsible for the customer's frustration and that our fair and timely attempts to address his concerns are acknowledged.

We were very concerned because this remodel is on the south (weather) side of the house. We had horrible water damage from the installation of our previous windows and we wanted to make sure that the new job was going to be watertight. From estimate to completion Hall's did an incredible job. They were prompt, professional, neat, extremely patient. We will not know if the project is truly watertight until this winter, but I can't imagine that any water could get past their installation. It was perfect. The photos below show the before and after of the window and door first from the inside, then from the outside. Unfortunately the only before photos I took were during the initial demo work. I think the after turned out gorgeous, and the interior oak trim isnt even on yet! Hall's covered everything with plastic and cleaned up very well. I had just installed brand new carpet and hardwood before the project and it is still in ''brand new'' condition.
Description of Work: Hall's removed a 4X8 window and a single 30'' french door and they installed in their place an Anderson oak clad 5X9 picture window and an Anderson double outswing oak clad french door. They still need to return to finish the interior oak trim and to complete the electrical outlet hookup, but the job is essentially complete.

The showroom was excellent, and the staff was knowledgeable. The installation crew did a really nice job installing the door, especially with the interior trim. I probably could have found a cheaper door for a little less money, but I had a front door replaced by a Home Depot subcontractor, and I'll never do that again. Hall's doesn't sub anything out, and it shows.

The doors themselves are beautiful and the trim adds some architectural detail. The materials are of the highest quality. Unfortunately, the workmanship did not measure up. The installation procedure required four separate appointments rather than the one that was promised. Workmen were on time. Attention to detail was not always the best. Workmen were courteous and relatively neat. Tarps were placed everywhere in order to protect our belongings.
