We have a beautiful, bright, functional kitchen now! Remodel Works (Mary Jennings, designer, and Jeff Aldridge, project manager) redid our 3 bathrooms which we love, so our kitchen remodel was our latest project with them. With just a few tweaks to the original layout, designers Mary Jennings and John DeLuca designed a wonderful space while keeping our budget in mind. Extra drawers and built in trash/recycle have opened up counter and floor space. Love all the pull out drawers. The cabinets, counter, and tile are gorgeous! (even better in person than in photos) We value that RMW has everything available in the showroom and we could bring samples home to make the best choices, and didn't have to run around town choosing tile, sink, faucets, etc. on our own. As with our bathrooms, the work was done on time and on budget. The technicians kept everything as clean & tidy as possible. The cabinet installer and counter manufacturer/installer deserve a special shout out for especially excellent work. RMW was very responsive to our questions throughout the whole process. Highly recommend!

We could not have asked for a better experience! From the first meeting with designer John De Luca CKBD, through the 5 1/2 week project with Jeff Aldridge our Project Manager. The entire team was professional, on time, and engaging with us as homeowners. We were given a project timeline at the very beginning of the project. We knew who to expect and what was to be done on any individual day. The quality of the materials was only surpassed by the quality of the craftsmen. We even had a personal call from the owner, George, on the final day. We would highly and definitely recommend Remodel Works to everyone thinking about remodeling. Thank you Remodel Works you rocked our world!!

We had Remodel Works (RW) renovate one of the bathrooms in our house. Unfortunately, it was a very unpleasant and stressful experience. The project went over the approved budget, took more than a month over the allotted time to complete and, above all, RW’s response to things gone wrong during the project was less than professional. The bathroom was for the use of the 93-year old grandmother. Initially, the projected scope included replacing the tiles, faucets, countertop, and the cabinet underneath the countertop of the existing bathroom. Unfortunately, before the work could begin, grandmother had to undergo a surgical procedure and the work had to be delayed until she had recuperated. During her recuperation she needed assistance of a caregiver and it became clear that the bathroom, as designed, was not wheelchair-accessible and spacious enough to allow two individuals, including a caregiver, at the same time. Therefore, the bathroom needed to be redesigned to include, among others, expanding the shower and the bathroom areas to accommodate a caregiver to help grandma during the bath; installing a sink and counter top that was wheelchair-accessible, and removing the existing cabinets from underneath the sink to allow positioning of the wheelchair. We met the same designer, who had drawn the initial plans, at our house and discussed the reasons and specifics of each change in detail before he provided us with the new plans. RW asked to be compensated for re-drawing the plans which we did. When the remodeling work was finished, we found that although the cabinets were removed from underneath the sink, it was still not wheelchair-accessible i.e., there wasn’t enough space underneath the sink to accommodate the wheelchair because the skirt of the counter top was too low (27”). Furthermore, grandma could not access the faucets, while sitting in the wheel chair, as the sink top height was too high (36”). We searched online for the required height and clearance underneath for a wheelchair-accessible sink. The search led us to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) which was implemented in 1990 to provide minimum standards for height, clearance, and depth for wheelchair-accessible sinks. The ADA recommendations for height and space below the sink, for the wheelchair accessibility, were as follows: "For adult users, sink tops should be mounted no higher than 34 inches from the floor. Additionally, there should be space below the sink of at least 29 inches high..." So, the sink top, as mounted by RW, was 2 inches higher than the ADA's recommendations and the space below the sink was 2 inches less than the ADA's recommendations (the original countertop in the bathroom was mounted at 34 inches height, as the other bathrooms in our house). We brought this to the attention of the RW project manager who told us that he couldn’t do anything because we had signed the contract with the measurements that were used. He further said that as he was not involved in the bathroom design process, we should bring this to the attention of the designer with whom we had discussed the plans. We sent a detailed email, including what was discussed during the redesign meeting and what was actually built, to the designer. However, we didn’t receive any response from him. Meanwhile, we were contacted by the owner who wanted to discuss the issue. We briefed him about the situation and asked him to come over to our house so he could see the finished countertop himself. However, he refused to come and repeated what we were told earlier i.e., that RW couldn’t do anything because we had signed the contract with the measurements that were used. To bring him up to date with the project, because he was not involved with the initial project design process, we forwarded him the email we had sent earlier to the designer that detailed what was discussed with him. We also tried to explain to him that It was difficult for us to check and make sense of each and every number in the contract prior to the signing as we didn’t have any expertise in this area. We relied upon RW’s measurements and expertise to ensure that the sink was wheelchair-accessible. For all of the prior remodeling projects, including bathrooms and kitchen, at our house done by other contractors, we had approved the design plans based on their measurements and expertise and never had any issues. Either RW had not built a wheelchair-accessible sink in the past or there was a breakdown in the internal communication during the design process that led to this issue. After going back and forth several times, RW proposed to address the issue by lowering the countertop by 4 inches and cutting the skirt by 4 inches, bringing the countertop height and space below the countertop to ADA’s recommendations for the wheelchair-accessible sink. However, we were asked to pay an additional amount, over the approved budget, for the work that needed to be done to make the sink wheelchair-accessible. We were surprised but had no choice other than to give them a go ahead because the countertop, as built, negated the entire purpose of bathroom remodeling which we had discussed with RW in detail and were paying more than $40,000. Additionally, we needed to have grandma back in her room as soon as possible as every passing day outside her room was adding to her inconvenience. 3 Unfortunately, when the additional work was finished, which took RW more than a month to complete, another issue arose. While the sink was wheelchair-accessible now, as a result of the adjustment the of the countertop height, the banjo part of the countertop at the other end was too close to the toilet tank which was under it. Normally, sufficient space is allowed between the countertop and the top of the toilet tank for someone to be able to see and to access the inside of the tank from the front. But in this case, it was not possible to do that because of the tight space between the countertop and the top of the toilet tank. Apparently, the countertop skirt was adjusted only on the sink side and not on the banjo side resulting in countertop being very close to the top of the toilet tank. We once again brought this issue to the attention of RW but they refused to do anything about the problem with the explanation that RW people could still do the repair work inside the tank. We hired a plumber who was not able to see or access the inside of the toilet tank from the front, the standard way of doing the repair. So, at the end RW did not address this problem and it has remained for us to take care of. RW makes several claims on its website regarding the quality of the work done by them. Here is our experience vs some of those claims. On Keeping the Project on Time and on Budget RW Claim: “Applying a time tested process we keep your project on time and on budget.” Our Experience: Unfortunately, our project ended up several thousand dollars over the approved budget and took more than a month over the initial allotted time to complete. On Quality of Work RW Claim: “For most companies close enough is good enough but to us mediocrity is the lowest rung on the ladder of success.” Our Experience: Unfortunately, some of the work completed by RW, as discussed above, was not even “close enough”. On Setting Professional Standards RW Claim: “We don’t operate in the grey area. This is what sharply divides us from our competition here in San Diego”. Our Experience: Unfortunately, making a mistake and then stonewalling and refusing to fix the problem, while placing the blame on the client for the things gone wrong, is not quite setting high professional standards.

Hi [Member Name Removed], I personally, spent a lot of time on the phone reviewing this project over the 3 re-designs and the whole construction phase; so I am intimately familiar with the situation. Typically we deal with one person or couple as a 1 decision maker. In your case we had 3 people with 3 different opinions coming in at 3 different times during the design phase. This was the reason we needed to ask for a re-design fee and why the design took so long. The reason it was over budget is because you refused to make the bathroom ADU compliant as we first advised you. You wanted to save money, and asked that we make it "generally ADU". We advised against this many times, but you knew best. Since you decided what was important for ADU compliance and where you wanted to spend money, we built the project to your budget. We did try to meet the basic needs of wheelchair accessibility: 1) lower sink 2) wider door 3) access to the shower. Again, you decided not to take our advice on the full ADU compliance and signed off the drawings. In regards to the toilet. It can be fixed by anyone with normal size hands. You just wanted to complain to get a discount. We offered to fix it, but you didn't feel you should pay for the extra tile we would need to move it. Again, you sign off that design and we built what you asked. With all due respect, you dont know what construction costs. So meeting your required budget was a challenge since you had a firm number that did not take into consideration what we recommended in design #1. Furthermore, how can we meet a timeline with a continually changing scope of work? While, I completely disagree with your review. I'd like to review you as a client. You have been rude to our staff, you never met any payment deadline unless we nagged you, you dont take responsibility for your cost/design decisions, you always try to negotiate the price of every mid-project change you want and expect it to be done tomorrow. We not accept to work with you again either. George - Owner of RW
I was able to work with an excellent designer (Mary Jennings) and a very competent contractor (Jeff Aldridge) and my project went well and I am happy with the results. Mary understood my need to have the remodel blend with the rest of my 1924 Spanish house and also my budget. She provided detailed drawings so that I could see what the finished project would look like and offered good advice about the shower, faucets, vanities, and flooring. Jeff was terrific to work with also--he and his technicians were always professional and polite. The project was not rushed but completed in a reasonable amount of time. Any problems/concerns I had were addressed in a timely way and everything was resolved to my satisfaction. I would definitely work with Remodel Works again.

I am extremely happy with how my kitchen remodel turned out. I requested John De Luca for the design part because I'd seen other good reviews of him, and he did a great job with the cabinet layout design. He spent a ton of time before I had even signed a contract with Remodel Works getting the layout to be exactly what I wanted and negotiated down to the price I wanted. Jeff Aldridge was my Project Manager and he was awesome! As the project was underway he would suggest improvements to me without increasing the price or timeline. The project was exactly on time, although I will say that they add a lot of padding to their schedule. The total time was 6 weeks, and several weeks work was only done 1 or 2 days. So I think they could have done it faster but would have put their timeline at risk. For example, the wrong cabinets showed up but they had plenty of time to correct that mistake within the overall timeline. My only other criticism is that while they are great at kitchen layout design, they could have been more helpful with material selection. I needed to match my existing floors and wall colors and I struggled to pick out the countertops and backsplash and they didn't really help me with this.

We hired Remodel Works to renovate our kitchen and worked with Ryan and Sophia with the design. The experience was very positive! Our project started out relatively small (really only cosmetic changes) and during the designing phase, it evolved to a much bigger project. However, Ryan and Sophia were great throughout the entire design process! They were very patient with us and really worked with us to find the best material for the look we were trying to achieve! Ryan even invited us into his home to view his cabinets that we were interested in. It was very helpful to see it on a bigger scale than the sample. I was already recommending them before the work even started. Once the project started, Ryan Terrell was our project manager and everything went pretty smoothly. There were no major set backs! I am very detail oriented and like clean lines as well as symmetry, and Ryan caught on pretty quickly and really made sure we were happy, within reason of course! He was great with the last minute changes as well. My only feedback is that they seemed to be really busy (which is a good thing!) but sometimes it was hard to get attention to our project. However, I would still highly recommend Remodel Works! We are completely in love with our new kitchen and look forward to hiring them for another project in the future.
Would absolutely recommend them to anyone. From our kitchen designer to every person who came to work on the project, all were professional, punctual and courteous. Always left after cleaning up thoroughly. All were craftsmen who took great care with their work.

Mary Jennings and John DeLuca are such a great team; and so far they've both exceeded our expectations! Working with contractors is somewhat intimidating, but not so with Mary and John, they're professional and honest, and I feel so comfortable working with them. They've developed really creative solutions to our limited floor space; and the 3D drawings they prepare make it easy to imagine what the final project will look like.
Description of Work: We hired Remodel Works to help us remodel an income property
I recently completed my second remodel using Remodel Works Bath & Kitchen and I couldn’t be happier. My first project was a Kitchen Remodel done 10 years ago in a previous home. This time I needed my Kitchen and Master Bath updated. Remodel Works scheduled them to be done simultaneously which I appreciated. I again had Ryan Christenson as designer with Sophia Davis as design assistant. Sophia was incredibly helpful in the process of choosing materials and colors including flooring into the mix. Brett Maguire was the Project Manager and my contact once the design was approved and work began. Brett was friendly, easy going and professional…kept me up to date and was quick to respond when I did have questions. What I love most about Remodel Works is that they provide a work schedule with a start date and end date…and a day by day listing of the work being done and who will be in your home doing the work. They have finished on time and on budget both times I used them. It was a pleasure working with Remodel Works.

We renovated two bathrooms with Remodel Works and can not recommend them more highly. Our designer, Ryan, was really helpful and easy to work with. Our project manager, Brett, was excellent! He visited the site frequently, was very attentive to detail, and was proactive about communicating with us. He also made sure that all the subcontractors knew exactly what to do, were respectful to us and our space, and kept our home very clean. We worked with other contractors before and hated them by the end. Not the case with Remodel Works! We will definitely use them for our next project.

My wife and I went to around 10 kitchen and bath remodelers in the San Diego area during the past year. We received many proposals and reviewed the pros and cons of all of them as well as the companies we dealt with. We found that John and Mary at Remodel Works to be far and away the most professional and knowledgeable design team that we met with. Remodel Works was not the cheapest bid that we received but we felt they were reasonable and would complete the job in a timely manner. John and Mary did not try to oversell our options and had some cost saving ideas to help us keep within our budget even if it meant buying certain other items from other vendors. We are in the planning phase now and we feel from our experience so far that the remodel will go smoothly.
Description of Work: we wanted a kitchen and family room remodel for our home after about 25 years.
We have a beautiful, functional new kitchen for the Holidays thanks to Remodel Works. Moved to this condo 20 years ago and did a cosmetic fix. The kitchen at 40 yrs of age very much needed a redo. Remodel Works team did a spectacular job. Took the old kitchen out, down to the studs. Replaced it with a great looking and working updated one. The design team of Ryan & Sophia incorporated & procured all the things we wanted. We received a schedule of what was to be done & who was coming to do the work for every day of the project. Jeff, program manager oversaw all the actual work. Our concerns were promptly addressed & remediated. The workers who came were top of their field & expressed that they liked working for Remodel Works, “a good company”. Everything was well done & right. Jeff made sure of that. We were in competent hands. Construction remodel while living in the home is never easy. Remodel Works made it work, and did it to 5 star standards. Gail Sipe

We have had two major remodels since with Remodel Works: our master bath and our kitchen. Both jobs involved gutting existing materials. The bathroom involved wall removal. I love Remodel Works. The people are professional and creative. They come out and view existing room and you describe what you want. They then make an appointment with you to go through designs that have generated. Ryan was great, adapting our design with features important to our family. As a result, our kitchen is now the favorite space for family time. Sophia was our designer. She listened to us and selected materials that would work well together. She always gave us several options and let us make the final decision. My husband and I didn't always agree on things, so having choices was important. The master bath was done with a different team from Remodel Works, but was fantastic. It went from a barely usable space to a spa-like en suite. We were stoked to see it used as a cover image for some of the promo materials at Remodel Works. I highly recommend!
In process, completion in 2020. Ryan and Sophia at Remodel works have been working I'm my new kitchen. The current one is 30 years old, so the face lift is badly needed. Since Ryan worked on my master bathroom 8 years ago and I still love it, I know the kitchen details are going to be great. Our project manager, Ryan T. has been very responsive as we finalize the details. 2020 should bre beautiful.

We have used Remodel Works now 4 different times, starting a decade ago with a kitchen remodel. So when it came time 2 years ago to do two of our bathrooms we went with them again. Then just last year we used them for essentially a total remodel: doing a full room addition and bath, a kitchen refresh, laundry room, garage update, as well as an attic build out. We have been pleased throughout the process. For the quality for the prices they are a great value. I highly recommend you get to understand them and their team in your process.

We have just completed our second renovation using RemodelWorks Kitchen and Bath. Our first project was a kitchen remodel done 7 years ago. For this latest remodel, we wanted to update our master bedroom and bathroom, and turn a 5th bedroom into a master closet. The bathroom was a complete tear out and re-build. One of the most complex features of the master bathroom was a large walk-in shower with a linear drain. We wanted the best remodel company to tackle this complex job. To get started, we contacted Ryan Christenson at Remodel Works. Ryan was the designer we used on our kitchen remodel. One thing we love about the RemodelWork design process is that they listen to what we want. We did do our due diligence and interviewed several other companies but, once again, RemodelWorks made us feel that our project would be in the best hands. RemodelWorks was not the least expensive, nor the most expensive. Meeting with Ryan and Sophia Davis, Showroom Manager and Design Assistant, we worked together to turn our dreams into reality. Sophia was great at sourcing material that matched what we had envisioned, and Ryan brought our ideas to life. After the work of the design was done and all the materials chosen, we received a contract with the exact amount our remodel would cost. No hidden surprises; as long as we didn’t make any change orders. We were then handed off to our Project Manager, Ryan Terrell. He met with us and brought the cad drawings to go over the entire project down to the smallest detail to make sure everything was exactly right. Once we signed off, all the materials were ordered. It is amazing the horror stories you hear on contractor delays when items are delayed or back-ordered. This does not happen with RemodelWorks’ process. Once all the material arrived, we received the work schedule with a start date and end date for our project. The schedule included who was going to be in our home each day and what they were going to be doing. RemodelWorks came in on-time and on budget once again for our new project. The construction teams were immaculate and left our home clean every day. We are thrilled with result. The entire Remodel Works Team was a pleasure to work with.

This review is long overdue but we used Remodel Works for a partial remodel for one of our hall bathrooms. The project was fairly simple but nevertheless we are so happy we chose Remodel Works! We were certain we wanted to replace our tub/shower at the very least but weren't sure who to go to or what this would even cost. We reached out to Remodel Works who kindly sent out designer, Ryan Christenson. He was personable, educated us, thoroughly explained all of our options, and what stuck with us the most was that he was willing to work with us and our budget. Very client oriented. Their customer service and efficiency doesn't stop there. They finished our bathroom in less than a week and were so diligent in making sure the remodel was concealed and the rest of the house was as if they weren't even there. We are so happy for their customer service, efficiency, and quality of work. We highly recommend Ryan and the whole Remodel Works team!

It was a great experience - start to finish! Ryan did an awesome job with the design, Sophia was a big help in picking finishes and fixtures, Brian was a great project manager, and all the contractors were very competent and easy to have in the house. Add to all this the reasonable price, and we feel so lucky to have found this firm. Wish we had more to redo, we'd definitely hire them again!
Description of Work: We had Remodel Works completely remodel our outdated master bath.
Overall, it was a user-friendly process. They have an excellent showroom. Our Designer was Kate Orlova and our Project Manager was Elijah Peterson. Both had excellent ideas. The construction phase went pretty smoothly. We had one hiccup (relating to placement of mirrors and lighting) towards the end, which we asked Elijah to address and resolve. He handled our concerns promptly, and made the changes we requested. We did a complete bathroom remodel, and are very satisfied with the the way it turned out.

Thank you Mr. [Member Name Removed], It was a lot of fun to work on your project. We are even planning on submitting it to the NKBA for an award. We think is it that good of a kitchen. We look forward to setting up some professional photography with you permission. It will be nice to celebrate the completion of the project with you! Happy holidays, George

My Kitchen Remodel has not been completed yet but we are off to a great start. I used Remodel Works for a Guest Bath Remodel two years ago and was very pleased with all of the services provided. So now that I'm finally ready to do my kitchen, I immediately returned to Remodel Works for help. After a warm welcome back into the Remodel Works showroom, John De Luca my designer quickly scheduled a time to meet with me in my home. The top priority for his visit was to see the space and understand just what I dreamed it could be. He left with a set of pictures of the current space, exact measurements and visions for a new design. Within just a couple of days John had created initial drawings that really helped to bring ideas to life. He patiently spent time with me to get the new kitchen layout just right for me. We have moved on to picking all of the final materials. John continues to bring his vast experience and ideas to the table but watches and listens for my responses and reactions to all of them. I'm confident that working together with John and the whole Remodel Works team that my project will be a tremendous success.

Remodel Works, specifically Mary Jennings, John De Luca and Elijah Peterson, are some of the best people to work with. From the time we first met with Mary and John, they listened to what our vision was and put together a plan that met all that vision. As we progressed with the overall remodel (had other work done), the Remodel Works team coordinated with us and the GC to meet timelines. They also worked with me as I had specific items such as back splash tiles and appliances that I wanted to include in the remodel. The team welcomed my input and worked with me to make sure it all worked out. As we progressed into the kitchen, Elijah worked with the various subs to ensure all went as planned. Elijah made himself available to address questions and concerns and made sure everything was done to my expectations. Overall, I am ecstatic with my new kitchen; it is what I envisioned for many years and now it is reality. If you want a great remodel experience, there is only one company to call - Remodel Works.
