Description of Work: The Plant Connection has 3 completed projects at both my home & business. Marilyn (the owner & contractor) is a "wiz" at designing beautiful landscapes. Most of the time, I don't even have to give any direction or input. I just tell her, "Make it pretty"....and she does it every time!

Description of Work: After two calls, I was able to schedule an appointment to discuss a small landscaping project I was considering. Marilyn came out, arriving on time, and was very helpful and candid even though she basically talked me out of doing the job. She is knowledgeable and easy to deal with. I will keep her in mind for future projects.

Description of Work: The Plant Connection landscaped the front and back of our house with drought tolerant plants. They updated the old sprinkler system to drip and bubblers according to the LA city rebate plan. Several new fruit trees were planted to replace old/dead trees. Installed oversized pots to use to grow flowers and vegetables. Using decomposed granite they designed pathways around the garden. Love it!

Description of Work: The Plant Connection is AWESOME! Marilyn has transformed our yard, and therefore our home. Her crew fixed our irrigation, planter walls, and fence. They brought in beautiful plants and flowers. All for a very fair price. Within a just a couple days we had a gorgeous place! She first toured, explained her vision, we discussed the budget trade-offs, then she brought plants the next day to suit the various areas. It has been about a month and every single plant is thriving. We have her crew doing a great job of weekly maintenance now for us also. One of the best things about working with Marilyn and her crew is that they are all very positive and made us feel like we were all a team together on this task to beautify our place - and they succeeded beyond our expectations! P.S. We were just given some flowers, and she and her crew are here on the 4th of July to plant them. Now THAT is going above and beyond - but that is Marilyn.

+ 2 morePC knows what they are doing and are very professional but do not expect them to come in even close to budget. For an extremely small yard the cost ended up MUCH more than their initial quote, taking into account a couple of add-ons that I requested. Everytime you turn around they will have increased from the quote and be asking for a check. I was very impressed with Paul, the irrigation guy. He is professional, quick, and really knows what he is doing. As far as the rest of PC's sub contractors - they are awful. Flavio shows up sporadically and you constantly have to be checking things and requesting fixes. Manuel (the mason) was a complete fiasco and makes it clear that he has no interest in working on small jobs and treats his customers with disdain. Marilyn (the owner) knows what she is doing, but for some reason does not deal with her subs and asks that you deal with them when you have problems. If I knew I would have to fight every little battle, I would have hired my own subs and not paid the premium for the PC. In all, if you have a ton of money to burn and don't mind always having to corral people and follow up and bug them about things that should be done, then by all means hire them. If you are on a budget and don't want to constantly be getting into altercations, then look somewhere else. Also, after the fortune I spent on plants for a microscopic yard, several of them have died. I have been told by the nursery that they were not well suited for the environment and/or they were not healthy specimens.

+ 0 moreOur yard looks great - Flavio & his guys worked extremely hard and it shows. He took out some dead trees that we didn't even know we had and fixed up a fence that was originally installed improperly before we bought the house. When Flavio came out to work on the proposal, he knew exactly what I needed and what we were trying to accomplish. Along the fence he planted beautiful vines with purple trumpet flowers - I look forward to seeing them in full bloom and also look forward to enjoying our yard finally! I did have lower bids from other companies, but I think it was worth paying more for quality, which is what we got. We will have them back in another month to work on some drainage issues that we have.
Description of Work: Flavio and his crew installed sod, removed some dead trees, repaired our fencing including installing new lattice tops,and also installed a new rod iron gate.

+ 1 moreit rained during their work and they still came. Everything was cleaned up at night when they finished. We even had a fire in the house which Marilyn was prepared to accept responsibility for as it happened during installation of our new watering system...but was not due to that. We have been very happy.
Description of Work: First visit, prompt. Gave an estimate in a very timely manner. Workers were terrific. Overall a very good experience...especially, 2 years later when everything has grown in and still looks just terrific.

+ 0 moreOn time for initial consultation. Marilyn was given a copy of our plan for our yard, which she barely glanced at. She asked numerous questions regarding the project which would have been answered had she simply looked at the paper in her hand. Disregarded the list of plants which we had already selected. On the plus side, she did make several recommendations regarding the overall layout that we did like. She told us that it would be a week before her estimate was ready as she was going out of town. The estimate took closer to two and a half weeks before it was presented. The estimate came out to about $20,000; this when we did explain that we were on a budget. Her estimate for the sprinklers alone came to almost $10k, far higher than anyone else we have spoken to. Overall- nice, pleasant, but too high priced and somewhat non-responsive.
Description of Work: We asked for an estimate on sprinkler installation/design, and lawn/garden plant pricing.

+ 1 moreI could not be happier. There were six installers here for two and a half days. When I noticed the sprinklers were not perfect, the lead came back the next day for a few hours to wrap the project up. They were friendly, professional and answered all my questions.
Description of Work: The plant connect made suggestions on my landscaping plan. I chose to incorporate everyone of them into the plan. They trimmed trees, removed trees, performed clean-up, planted new trees. Also included a ground cover, sprinklers and drip system, extended railroad tie for soil erosion effort and spread gravel on a new path way.

Description of Work: I had them install faux grass and gravel in 300 square feet of my back yard. They also did some drainage work as well.
