We absolutely love MCLM!!!! We just redid our pool and backyard hardscape with their company. I was so worried about being one of those horror stories with construction projects, but Nate (project manager) and his team and the owner were the complete opposite of a horror story. Everyone was professional and experienced, on time, cleaned up each day, stuck to the timeline, the crew showed up in company shirts and trucks each day, almost daily communication with updates from Nate. I have recommended MCLM to my neighbors and friends and a couple of them have used MCLM for their outdoor projects!

Scott, Roberto and their crew have a reputation about town for being a fabulous landscapers. We decided that our front yard could use a nice facelift. The design included sod, colorful flower beds, an assortment of trees and some beautiful malibu lighting and what a change it has made to the front of my home. The MCLM crew arrived on time, created a design that we could maintain, and we were most impressed by how quickly and thorough they completed their work each day.

Unless you can constantly monitor and view their work, BEWARE of MCLM!! As an out of state landlord, I rely on the reputation, diligence and honesty of companies I hire to take care of my rental property. I also rely on my tenant's communications if these companies don't perform their work as contracted. Although my tenant sent me photos and told me all MCLM did was mow & blow (spend maybe 10 minutes at my house) on a regular basis, whenever I called management & remind them of their responsibility to maintain, trim bushes, and keep the yard looking fresh & well-kept, NOTHING EVER CHANGED! I am visiting the house now and see vegetation overgrown, bushes either dead or very unkempt, and my grass dying of a virus. They blame the tenant for not having access to the sprinkler controls. My tenant works from home and claims no one ever knocked on her door. Malibu never once called me to tell me there was a problem. I have been paying them $150 (now $175!) to kill the plants THEY planted, spread a killer virus in my grass (that had to be completely killed and removed now), and ignore weeds, overgrowth in the yard???? I also just paid them more than $1,600 to clear overgrowth on my back hill (not a normal service) and they did such a horrible job that I had to pay another company to complete the job. Calling and writing the owners about the bad clearing job did nothing at all. COMPLETELY IGNORED ANY COMPLAINTS OR REQUESTS FOR A RESPONSE!!! This has been going on for years fighting to get the services I pay for---and nothing ever changes. Although they may have good reviews on social media, I wonder how many of these reviewers don't actually live at their properties??? If I could give them ZERO STARS, I would.

"We are sorry that things turned out this way. We maintained this property for over 10 years and kept the property nicely maintained. Sadly, the latest tenant was not communicating with the workers or accommodating them to have access to the irrigation timer. Unfortunately the tenant communication with the Landlord was not truthful either. We tried many times to gain access to the irrigation timer but the tenant was not available to let us into the garage. Clearly the tenant does not want to take responsibility for the damage to the yard. Now the landlord and Tenant are blaming the crew for plants and lawn dying due to lack of water. As we explained to the landlord, we can only properly maintain the yard when we have access to the irrigation timer and are allowed to water as needed. In this case, we were kept from the irrigation timer either by accident or on purpose and cannot take responsibility for dead or damaged landscape due to lack of water. Once again we are sorry things turned out this way."

I cannot say enough about MCLM. I was introduced to them through California Pools. MCLM did the hardscape and the landscape around my new pool. Both the hardscape and landscape has turned out to be everything that I have wanted. Israel Gonzalez is the person that I specifically dealt with and he made the experience what it was. He essentially was the main reason the project was a success. He was responsive, collaborative, reasonable, helpful, and more. He listened to what I wanted and made it happen. He also suggested improvements to the functionality of certain aspects of the hardscape/landscape design such as changing a plant bed landing area that was supposed to be between the pool slide and the pool into hardscape to offer a walking and sitting area as well as prevent dirt from easily entering the pool. MCLM now does our yard maintenance and they are detailed oriented with the yard and they make suggestions on watering and other aspects to keep the yard looking as amazing as they created it. We have had 2-3 other yard maintenance companies and have found they just a "blow and mow" type of service. With MCLM you feel like they are actually paying attention to your yard.

Our backyard had bother me a long time as it was not functional at all. It looked terrible as the grass was dying and old concrete was bumpy with cracks. Kids could not play in the backyard but had to bike/ride scooters on the street. We interviewed serveral other contractors like most of other homeowners. And we finally decided to go with MCLM, because the manager was amazng. He was very preffessional and had great ideas of how to make our yard beautiful and functionals. He could be a professional landscape designer beside managing his team! His teams were great, they worked hard and pay attention to details and i am 100% happy without their quality. I should mention that the manager always be available to answer our questions/concerns , which made it easier if we would like to modify/add some features as the project went on. He recommended to use flagstone for the patio and flower bed wall. They turned out to be very beautiful! Kids can play in backyard every day safely. Overall, good quality work!

We recently had our front yard re-landscaped by MCLM. After meeting with quite a few other landscapers we chose MCLM because DB had some great ideas and was very excited to work with us to get our desired results. The crew and DB were a pleasure to work with, very professional and knowledgeable. We are very happy with our new landscaping and would highly recommend MCLM.

I recently used Malibu Canyon Landscape & Maintenance (MCLM) for the installation of a area drain system. I was very pleased with the overall experience. The quality of their work was great, and even though the job involved more work than anticipated, they stood behind their price. Israel and DB were terrific, as was the rest of the crew. I would not hesitate to use MCLM in the future.

We used them for landscape design and installation including extensive hard scape as well as drought tolerant landscaping and installation of drip irrigation system. Accent lighting also added at their recommendation. Within first few minutes of discussion with landscape architect Christian Lewis it was clear he understood exactly what we we trying to accomplish and offered us two other projects recently completed to visit to finalize our thinking. Plan was well designed and implemented with little change. Progress was monitored by both Christian and Israel Gonzalez throughout and both were very responsive to any requests. Both the hardscape and landscape crews were experienced pros and also very responsive. Hard workers in some unusually hot recent weather and never faltered in getting work done as designed and on time. Never left without making sure area was cleaned up. Real professionals. We couldn't be more pleased with the results.

We had a complete demolition and new design implemented in our backyard. The crews utilized were very efficient, hard working and professional. The landscape architect (David Brook) created the perfect design and was very conscientious about overseeing the work from start to finish. Although we prefer green grass, due to these drought conditions, David's design is worthy of huge accolades. The masonry crew, led by Luis Sanchez, were the best, hardest, most efficient workers we have ever seen and our flagstone hardscape areas look fabulous. The landscape crew of Jorge Ceja and another Jorge also did a great job and worked diligently in following the design exactly so the plants, DG, irrigation system and additional flagstones used for walkways and aesthetics were where they were suppose to be. We did have an issue at the end of the job with trying to pay the balance of our bill and with an error on the bill due to bookkeeping confusion. We feel a company of this size should have a more efficient billing/bookkeeping system in place. Bottom line though is the entire job took only 16 days, and we are very pleased with the outcome!

I asked for and was quoted for sprinkler valve replacement. The quote says valve and came out very reasonable, but they only replaced a part of the valve. When I brought this up to Israel, he said he meant only part of the valve, but he wrote and we talked about the valve and he would not go back and fix the work. I feel like this was a deliberately deceptive way to win the bid and they didn't do what I asked them to do.

"The customer was confused by the term valve acuator and valve. We changed the valve actuators which were bad. the valves were in fine condition and because they are brass will probably last forever. Standard landscape practice for brass valves is to change out the actauator only. It would be a complete waste of resources to replace the entire valve each time an acuator goes out. The parts alone at Home Depot would cost more than what we charged you. We are sorry for the misunderstanding and do not appreciate the bad report. You hired us to fix your valves and they are all working now. The bad report is unjustified."

Malibu Canyon is, by far, the best contractor we have hired in all our projects for our home. They came and delivered, neatly, professionally and conscientiously. They valued our likes and dislikes, worked with our schedule and completed the job with utmost care. Israel Gonzalez, the project manager, was always on top of things and gave us valuable, practical advise. I first thought MCLM will cost more because they are a bigger company, but surprisingly, their quote was far less than the other quote we got. Pretty cool especially on a tight budget. Highly recommended!
