Description of Work: We needed them urgently as one of the garage doors wasn't working, and they came that day (a Saturday), fixed the problem and were professional and courteous. We later used them again to replace four garage door panels. Would use them again and again.

Description of Work: Both employees were on time and very professional. They immediately found the problem and replaced both tension springs... only 1 was broken but due to their age I had both replaced. They did not try to upsell any other service. They made a few other adjustments and answered all my questions. I would highly recommend American Overhead Garage Door company for any repair.

Description of Work: Replaced hinges and arms from the opening machine to the door. Came back and replaced the arm for a longer one and left a spare. Our garage door opening is not square, due to earthquakes. This causes unusual stress and wear and tear on the opening apparatus and mechanism.

Description of Work: I called today Monday morning. I spoke with Dana who told me the price of a new garage door opener and agreed to come out to the house in the early afternoon. He called to say that he would be arriving early. On arrival Dana said that he could fix the motor but since the system was over 30 years old he recommend that I replace it. Since the springs were over 10 years old he recommended that I replace them as well. I agreed. He wrote up the order which was the the price that he had quoted on the phone. His men came out within 2 hours and the job was completed by mid-afternoon. They were very professional and pleasant to deal with. Dana then called to make sure that everything was okay. All in all, a very good experience. Highly recommended.

Description of Work: Dana has had years of experience. I thought I'd need a whole new garage and hardware. He said my door did not need to be replaced just the hardware. He saved me lots of $ and it works better than it has ever. Someone else wanted to sell me everything.

The job was done in about 2.5 hours.I did have to ask them to come back and replace the lag bolts used for the padlock hasp with the correct carriage style bolts, which they did in a timely manner. They also moved my stored items out and back in for a nominal $50.
Description of Work: They rehung my 50 year old garage door with new style hinges, Highly recommended.

 + -1 moreWe contacted Dana on Saturday morning, and while he was willing to come and do the work right then, he assured us that if it could wait until Monday he would not have to charge us an "after hours" fee. We set up an appointment for Monday morning, which he confirmed with us again on Sunday evening. He brought a two-man team to fix the problem, and he had all of the necessary supplies right with him in the truck. The work took about two hours, and the garage door has been working flawlessly since they finished. Although we were quoted $450, the final bill included additional taxes and fees that had not been disclosed originally. When we mentioned we'd found him on Angie's List, he did reduce the final bill down to $500. As it was important to us to get the problem fixed as quickly as possible, we did not bother to inquire with other companies for estimates, so I don't know if we paid a reasonable amount for the service. It was worth it to us to have our garage door secure again!
Description of Work: Our garage door had become so unstable that its automatic sensor would keep the door from closing. To fix the problem, the garage door was removed, all of the original hardware (circa 1979) was replaced, and the door was reinstalled. Although the contractor suggested installing a new motor, he agreed that the one we had was sufficient and did not require replacement.

The workers came and took care of everything. They were courteous and cleaned up after themselves. Dana called later in the day to be sure everything was working well.
Description of Work: The workers cleaned up my old garage door so that it would open, replaced the hardware, and installed a new motor with remote.

Description of Work: The company replace the garage door with a new custom wood door as well as new hinges and opener. They installed the door hinges and opener. Their bid was $2000.00 below L.A. Overhead Garage Door and $1500.00 less than an independent contractor. They met their bid and installed within a week of placing the order. I recommend this company highly and would definitly use them again. !!!!!!!!!

Description of Work: Door cable came off the wheel because end-of-run switch failed. They put the cable back in place, replaced the switch and fixed another unrelated problem: the lights were off during the run. They put the door switch cables in the right order and it works fine now.
