They were very easy to talk to and communicate with. For the first few months they were great, both owners were at my property and assisted their staff in the work done around my home. All repairs to my sprinklers were done by them. They were kind enough to take my trash cans out to the curb for me for trash day and bring them back up when they could. After a few months of service only their staff would should up, while still respectful and polite, they didn't seem to be putting the same effort and time into my yard. Things were overlooked and forgotten. After a few back and forth emails between the owners and myself things sort of fizzled out and they stopped coming and I stopped asking them to. They were eventually replaced. Great at the start, but I wished the owners had consistently shown up with their staff like they did in the beginning..
Description of Work: Serviced my front and backyard for weekly maintenance. Did minor outdoor sprinkler repair and electrical issues associated with that.

My first nightmare contractor. He built a retaining wall for me. The wall looks OK, but he skirted paying the City its $44 dollar contractor's fee and did not build it to California or City code - so I had to add concrete to fix it. He ordered too much 50-50 mix and backfilled behind part of the wall with it an then hid it from me under a layer of dirt. I asked him not to dump his mix first on the brick part of the driveway - you can guess where he dumped it - power washing hasn't been able to get off the discoloration. His trucks leaked oil on the same driveway - at least that will fade. He had extra concrete mix which he left on a walkway - it solidified in the first rain and ruined that area. He came unprepared and always needed to borrow wood stakes or tools or glasses or something. I asked for a waterproof backing on the wall which he didn't want to do. When he finally put it in, he just duct taped it to the wall.
Description of Work: Built a 61 foot long retaining wall in my backyard.

Ed refused to order and install plants because "there was no money in it" for him. When I referred to contract that his daughter presented, his son began arguing that she was not "the company". Re: sprinkler installation (1) left old pipes half in and half out of ground. In my agreement with Jennifer, she said the old system would not be incorporated into the new system and would be removed; (2) contaminated main water line into house with dirt; (3) indoor version of controller placed on outside of house, then replaced with outdoor version, but without safe electrical connection; (4) located valves that leaked in shady area next to house/garage, setting up potential for black mold around area. I called repeatedly about the leakage and exposed pipes with indifferent results. Ed finally sent over his son whose reaction to my trying to explain the problem was to begin shouting at me. When I told him this behavior would not be tolerated, he left. This (cont'd above)
Description of Work: Installation of bender board and sprinkler system......(cont'd from below) was witnessed by mail carrier approaching my front door. The work is still not completed.

The job seemed to be going well at first. However, Ed told me that the job would take a week and it only took three days. I didn't have a problem with that if the work was done to my satisfaction. But it was not. Ed also told me that the $5,500.00 that he had originally quoted was $650.00 ea. for 8 zones but he only created five of them. (Which means he pocketed the rest). All this would have been fine if everything worked well and to my satisfaction and if he hadn't threatened to ''sue us for all that we're worth'' because I didn't pay him before the job was finished. Now I see why. I asked Ed if he stood by his work and he assured me that he did but when I told him that I wanted him to change the drip tubing because it was depositing too much water near the foundation of my house, he told me that he would be over the following week and I never heard from him. After 2 weeks passed, I called him and he reiterated that I owed him an outstanding balance of $250.00. For what? Rip off.
Description of Work: My irrigation system, or part of it, was overhauled.
