I am so happy with the turn out. James came out in June and gave us the estimate and even though they had to wait over 2 month for us to get ready for the job, there was not problem with that. When they did begin the job, Joe was the head of th team. He never left the sight. Everything turned out great. Even when I added a change in the plan, there was no problem with that. The building looks great and I'm very happy with their work. As a matter of fact, they just started work on another project for us.

I have painted four houses in the past 10 years (some of them more than once) and House Painting is my painter from now on.

My elderly parents asked me to help them find a house painter. It's a large and somewhat difficult house to paint. Two story, English tudor with crossbeams and gables. I started to "google" some painters in the area, then lined them up for appointments. After getting calls back from some of the painters, I realized that I was probably wasting a lot of my time running back and forth meeting with these un-screened contractors. I canceled all the appointments and decided to give Angie's List a try. After reading a bunch of reviews, I settled on Painters Inc of LaCrescenta for an estimate. I had seen their signs in my parents area but being able to confirm a contractors history and customer satisfaction really put me and my parents at ease. James Lee (the owner) met me for the estimate. He was patient and extremely knowledgeable. We agreed on a price that was fair given the extent of the work to be done. We were assigned a crew leader (Andrew) and his crew. The prep work took four full days. In all the years of having this house painted I've never seen a crew prep the surface this well. Lots of sanding, even some repair work on some stucco, wood and metal gutters. The crew always cleaned up at the end of the day. As a bonus they threw in the painting of two iron gates. We look forward to using them in the near future for some interior work in the fall.

I am surprised to see so many rave reviews on Angie's list since my experience showed that the company cannot meet minimum standards of professionalism.

James Lee from House Painting, Inc. responded quickly to my inquiry on Angie's List and stopped by the house and gave me an estimate that same day. We were still selecting colors so didn't actually start the work for about another week. We have a shake-shingle sided house that needed a lot of prep: sanding, bondo, etc. The crew prepped the house for three full days and painted two full coats on the house the following three days. We had a light-yellow house that we were painting dark craftsman-style colors over and this required very careful and thorough painting to cover well. The crew arrived on time every morning, worked all day and cleaned up every night. They were open to my watching over their shoulders, asking questions and making minor requests. I will call House Painting, Inc. again in the future — when I’m ready to paint the interior!

We called Jae and he came out to give us quotes for exterior and interior. He has several 3 ring binders with reference letters-I can see why! I did not even get competing bids, since I knew the ones given me were spot on-and you cannot beat the job they do! His crew came to prep and strip all of the wallpaper off before the plaster contractor came out to work on the house. Once the plaster job was finished they came and painted the exterior and did a beautiful job. They gave us some test colors on the exterior and we ended up matching the colors for seamless rain gutters that were installed. Plus, they painted the exterior brickwork on the front facade and looks fabulous. Later we had them finish the interior and they did beautiful work. We had to coordinate with them during our cabinet restoration for the master bath and kitchen. They also painted the new interior doors that we had installed. Looks first rate. The crew is very thorough and professional and we have got lots of compliments on the house. They were punctual and Jae was always responsive to requests or calls.

They have been here on time and stay late most of the days. They finished the job. They did a wonderful job.

Mr. Lee and his crew at House Painting, Inc. were a real pleasure to work with, and I would use them again without hesitation. While I was in escrow, I got a recommendation for another painter and thought I was good to go. However, they were difficult to reach and unresponsive, and then after running them down they told me they might not be able to get the job done before my move-in date. With two weeks to go, I joined Angie's list and found Mr. Lee. He came right over, give me an estimate and lots of helpful information. He assured me he could get the job done on time. And he did!The crew was here for a week, because the prior owner had neglected the roof and there were numerous poorly patched areas on the walls as a result. The roof was replaced, and the painting crew rolled in! They kept the house spotless. They tackled all the tricky patch work and got the walls back into good shape, and got everything painted. They checked in with me constantly to make sure that painting was proceeding as I wanted, and they made minor adjustments along the way without complaint. Overall, a very helpful, pleasant and professional group of people who did a great job on the house! (There are a few places where the patching / prep work, I have noticed, are not quite as smooth as they should be, I think, to get an "A" rating. To be fair, that could be because of the time constraints of this particular job. I hesitated on this for awhile... If an A- rating were possible, that would be my preference.)One quirk to watch. There were a few language difficulties with the work crew. Generally, we worked through it. Once, when I couldn't understand what they were trying to explain to me about oil/water based paint and an issue that arose with the doors, I called the main office and explained that we were having a communication breakdown. Mr. Lee called back right away, and everything was straighten out. I would use House Painting again without hesitation. In fact, I now need the outside of my house painted, and I expect I'll be calling them again soon for that! (PS 4/13 - I just used a different painter (GoPro) for a new project after getting competing quotes. Yes, they under-priced House Painting. But dear god, you get what you pay for!! What an absolute nightmare! To save 20% on the bid, a two week project dragged out 6 weeks. The workmanship was terrible. Much drama, must stress. I have learned my lesson!! House Painting for all my work from now on. It is well worth a small premium for great service!!)

They were very patient and hard working. They knew their job front and back. There was a minor problem with communication. The main painter was Asian and I had a little difficult time understanding him but he made sure that we communicated until we were on the same page. He made himself known and he made sure he understood me. He was very good and very professional. I would hire them again in a minute. They were very good. There were no hidden charges and everything was exactly the way they said it would be. He was very, very patient. What I liked about the main guy was when I went to choose a color there were several that were very close in shade and he said that we could try them all. He put big swatches of paint on the side of my house in a shady area and also in a sunny area so I could see how the colors looked in different places on my house. He was very good and I really appreciated that. He was very helpful.

We haven’t pinpointed the date yet. The representative came out and he was prepared. He listened to what we wanted to get done. He had recommendations from other clients and showed us that he was licensed. It was all there and we didn’t have him; he just showed it. He came out when he said he would.

The job took six days and I couldn't be more pleased with the results. Song and Esteban were efficient and very hard working in 100+ temperatures. Together they figured out how to shore up my listing side gate, and even adjusted the front screen door so that it now closes more easily. Song was helpful and patient as I was choosing a new color, and painted large swaths of several colors in both sunny and shady areas of the walls so that I could get a realistic view of what each looked like before I made the final decision. The gentlemen were polite, friendly, and played no loud music (I had to put up with that problem when my neighbors had their house painted.) The place was cleaned up perfectly and not a one plant was damaged. There were no hidden or "extra" charges; what James quoted was exactly what I paid (thank you, James!). I've gotten several compliments from visitors and neighbors on how beautiful my house now looks.

It couldn't have gone any better. Mr. Lee, the proprietor, was responsive and helpful, and gave us a quick turnaround on a quote, as we were in a tight time frame to get the interior completed between the time the prior owners moved out and before we wanted to move in. His two workers, Nam and Armando, were excellent, and completed the job beautifully within the time frame promised. Although the house was vacant while they were painting, we visited several times to see how things were going, and to handle contractors who were there to give estimates on other work we wanted done. Name and Armando were always working hard. Both were very friendly and pleasant, and handled things I requested politely and professionally. They never spilled a drop of paint, they repaired surfaces carefully, and cleaned up thoroughly afterwards. I had complete confidence in their abilities. The experience exceeded my (high) expectations, and I would not hesitate to recommend the company to others.

Mr. Lee's crew did an excellent job from start to finish. They even rescheduled part of the job at my request because of another unrelated home project and were professional and courteous. They were punctual, hard-working, and clean. They performed above and beyond expectations. I would definitely refer them to friends and use them again for future painting projects.

With wallpaper from the mid-80's starting to peel off the walls, I suggested to my mother that we paint the room. I was moving home and was going to use the room, and while I would've been okay with living with it temporarily, we needed to clear the room anyway to move my stuff in so I thought it might be a good opportunity to get it done now rather than later. My mother and I had planned on doing the work ourselves, but once we started, we found there was wallpaper under the old wallpaper and we realized we really didn't have the time to figure it out nor the energy to do it. My mother called House Painting on Wednesday and they said they could come on Saturday morning to see the room and give us a quote, and if we were okay with it, they would start right away. We'd hoped to keep the cost of having the room painted at around $600, but with the removal of the added layer(s) of wallpaper, we thought the price was pretty fair. Removing the remaining wallpaper took two guys one full day (hearing all the scraping all day made us thankful we didn't decide on doing it ourselves), on Sunday only one came back to paint the walls, closet doors, trim and ceiling. When my mother went to check on the guy thinking he was close to being done, she found the room was already finished and he was wiping down the hardwood floor to get what he could of the dust, meaning my mother didn't have to do it (she was fully expecting she would have to). The room came out looking better than what my mother and I could have hoped to do ourselves. There are more sections of the house where we'd like to get rid of the wallpaper and paint, and my mother is happy enough that she's already planning on calling them back when we've saved up the money. We're thinking of getting the exterior of the house done further down the road as well.

I sent them a fairly detailed email stating that I had already painted about 2/3 of my house myself. All I needed for them to do was finish what I hadn't done, which was basically, around the eaves, the foundation, one exterior wall (out of 7) and the trim. I told them they could come by anytime, but to call first. The showed up without calling while I was gone. They emailed me an estimate which came to $6000!!!!! I thought sure they had made a mistake and they had sent me an estimate to do my whole house. So I emailed them back and told them that I just wanted them to finish the job. They also included the costs for the paint, which I have sitting right here. So today I get a call from a young woman who asked if I got the estimate and wondered if I wanted them to do the job. I was taken aback as it appeared she hadn't read my last email. So I explained to her that they had given me an estimate to paint my whole house when I only needed about 1/3 painted. She said she'd call the estimator and have him call me back. He did. But his Asian accent was so thick, I couldn't understand much of what he said. I did get that the $6000 was indeed to finish the job and wasn't for the whole house. He said the job I had done myself was terrible. I told him I couldn't understand him and asked that he call the other girl and explain to her what he wanted to say. He refused. So I told him I'd write a bad review on Angie's list and hung up. I then called the office back and asked who the guy was she had call me. She said he was "the estimator." I told her what happened and she apologized and said she'd take care of getting the matter resolved. A few minutes later the same guy called back on his noisy cellphone, and I still couldn't understand him. I told him that I had called the office and asked for the owner to intercede. He said he was the owner! I told him the girl told me he was the "estimator." He said he was both. Well, I had had enough. He criticized me for not being able to understand his thick accent because he had a master's degree from college. I asked what a master's degree had to do with his accent! I couldn't understand his reply so I hung up. I called the girl back and asked why she told me he was the estimator when he was indeed the owner. Her response, "He is the estimator....and the owner." I said, "Don't you think it would have been important to tell me he was the owner as well?" She said, "Can you hold on?" I siad, "No, I've already been on the phone trying to deal with this for too long." Click...she put me on hold. So I hung up and came to write this review. From their reviews it would appear that they must do good work, but their customer service tactics are sorely lacking. He was rude, unintelligable and insulted the work I had already accomplished. VERY unprofessional. If he has a master's degree, why is he a house painter?

The price that they quoted me was good as it was on the lower side. The person who came out was pretty thorough and professional but seemed a little pushy as he was showing me all the references he had got. His estimate form was the most thorough when compared to other companies that I got bids from.

I really liked them. They did exactly what they said they were going to do. They came on time and cleaned up very well. They were very clean people. They did a very nice job. I would recommend them to others.

Our house had some small stucco cracks and one spot of water damage. The old paint job had water damage. House Paimting Inc. power washed, patched, primed and painted. They did a very good job cleaning up. Almost nothing for us to do at all. Would have them work for us again, definitely.

We decided a bit last minute to have the floors of our front porch and our back porch painted - they were scratched, chipped and dirty and badly needed a new paint job. James was able to give me an estimate quickly and the guys were available as soon as I needed them. They were extremely nice and did an excellent job on both porches - it's amazing how much a paint job can transform your home. I will be sure to hire House Painting for our next paint job that may come up.

We had contacted several painting companies for quotes, and noticed that House Painting Inc.'s prices were competitive and their reputation impeccable. We had a deadline to get the job started, and after finally deciding on House Painting Inc., the deadline was about two days away. We called them, and pressured them to start the job almost immediately. James Lee of House Painting Inc. was very accommodating, and juggled other painting projects and customers in order to start the job on the date we requested. They started very early in the morning on that date, and were professional. They placed yellow caution tape around the front yard to prevent potential accidents, and were friendly and courteous the entire time. We appreciated the trouble they went to to protect the house interior from sand and debris. They placed plastic sheeting inside and out for that purpose. They were focused and efficient, and worked long hours diligently. We had minor concerns about a few spots on the wooden front door and window frames after painting, and James Lee addressed these issues immediately and thoroughly. He even went beyond our expectations, and was proactive in finding and fixing any areas that might be an issue. He even came over personally after working hours to address any concerns we had. The painters were focused and sanded, primed and painted completely and effectively. Some areas of the house required several extra coats of paint - the painters did whatever was necessary to achieve a professional appearance. They primed and painted metal awnings as well as wooden patio covers. They finished painting the garage in no time, and it is such an impressive paint job - I am convinced that House Painting Inc. fosters an attitude of perfectionism among its workers. They completed all of the work quickly and efficiently, and checked in with us frequently to make sure we were happy with their progress. After completion, James Lee bolstered our confidence in their work - he encouraged us to call him immediately if any of the paint started flaking. We asked them to give us an estimate for some interior painting, because of the great job they did with the exterior. The house and garage look so amazing now, that when I pull up to the curb, it takes me a second to realize that this is the right house, this "House Beautiful" is really where I live!

James bid was A LOT lower than the other 2 companies that we got bids from. He was always punctual, on time and always on time and kept us informed with every step of the project. Our house was loaded with wallpaper. His crew came in and removed it all in a couple of days. Then they sealed the walls and and finished the interoir and painted the exterior in 10 days as promised! Great because were putting the house up for sale next month.I highly recommend House Painting, Inc.

We decided against re-stuccoing at Mr. Lee's recommendation but will use him for other jobs in the future.

Mr. Lee's team, father and two sons, showed up everyday at 8 and worked all day long with only a short lunch break. They were extremely professional and quiet. I was home packing the entire time and the only time I knew they were there was when they were sanding or pressure washing. They even fixed my picket fence that needed some pickets replaced and painted, and the fence was not part of the job. How is that for going the extra mile ! My house looked like new when they were finished and I couldn't be more satisfied with their work. I would recommend Mr. Lee and his painters to anybody. A+++

Mr. Lee's team, a husband and wife and another man, showed up everyday at the same time. The were extremely professional and efficient. They taped and papered the flooring in the whole house in one day before beginning sanding and cleaning. They worked quietly, which I really appreciated. My kitchen cabinets were not part of the job as they have vinyl fronts. I was worried they would look dirty and dull in my freshly painted kitchen. But to my surprise, the painters washed them for me. That was a lot of extra work they did not need to do. I am very happy with the beautiful finished interior. A+++

Mr. Lee and his team were very professional. The quote was in our expected price range and we were able to schedule a start date 2 months ahead. The painters showed up on time and completed the whole job in five days. Their prep work was extensive and they were very clean throughout. On the last day I pointed out some areas where we wanted an additional sand and coat and some clean-up and they were all done without any discussion. Mr. Lee came round for the final inspection and asked us to call if we found any other problems (we didn't). We would definitely use Mr. Lee's services again.
