Ed and his team are professional, experienced, proactive, courteous, and they obviously love what they do. Ed is full of tips and tricks and is a great resource for landscaping/gardening info. He's also a great source of low/fair pricing on everything from trees to mulch. As a retired architect who has worked with many types of contractors I have to say how much I love that they clean up after themselves (hosing down walkways, etc.) everyday before they leave. I wouldn't go to anyone else.

Ed quickly assessed and corrected my sprinkler problems. Charges were reasonable. He also made various suggestions on routine maintenance that needs to be accomplished now. He also recommended pruning in November--All very helpful.

Ed Gardening Services, AKA The Sodfather, Inc submitted bills that I paid ($37,000) and then later discovered that the billed include materials that were not used on my project. He admitted this to me. I then requested invoices on all the materials he charged me for and he has failed to provide them. I suspect many charges are fraudulent. He left with no warning in the middle of my project to work elsewhere. He left my front yard a mess including his workers meal trash. He's been gone over a month. What to do now. The city is after me to complete the project and has threatened to fine me.

We had a semi-emergency at a rental property. Ed was great at communicating when he would be at the property so that I could notify the tenant. The tenant was pleased with his customer service and repair work. The bill for the work was sent to me for payment, and I truly valued his professionalism throughout the process.

ED did an outstanding job. I have already lined up two more projects with him.

Ed took the mess I called my front yard and made my problem his, tasking a load off of me. He gave me good, reasonable solutions that fit my budget; He and his crew worked diligently, economically and gave me a new yard in a matter of days. Neighbors have come by and called me, remarking very positively on Ed's work and his crew.

Ed called within minutes and came out the same day to assess the problem.

I first hired Ed to remove a tree in my front yard and then plant a new one. His price was fair and the work excellent. His two workers, Jose and Jeraldo continued to work for me on a bi-monthly basis for maintenance of my yard. They did a very good job for approx 3 yrs. and I never had any problems. Two weeks ago, I asked Jose to recommend a tree trimmer to trim a tree that's invading my back yard and causing damage to my hot tub. He told me that he could do the work himself and that he would do it in 2 weeks. It turned out, that he was too busy to do it 2 weeks later, but he promised to do it the following week at 2pm. We had agreed on a price and he never mentioned that he wouldn't have time to do the job. I stayed home all day waiting for him and at 3:30 called his cell phone. No answer. Called again about an hour later. Still no answer. It was obvious he was not planning to show. When he arrived for routine service the following week, I was justifiably upset and asked him why he had not had the courtesy to at least call and cancel if he couldn't make it. His response was "I was busy." No apology. He then added "Go ahead and hire someone else. You won't be hurting my feelings any." I felt that was a very rude response given that he had caused me to waste an entire day for nothing. I then called Ed, the owner of the company who basically told me that he knew nothing about it and would get back to me. He did not call. I finally called him back the following day and was told that "My guys don't want to work for you anymore." I asked him whether it was his standard practice to allow his workers to treat customers that way, and he made it clear that he did not wish to get involved and basically made it clear that he had higher paying customers than myself and that he was very busy. He denied having had any other complaints and basically wrote me off, giving me the impression that it was somehow my fault. I wonder how he would feel if someone was scheduled to do work at his house and never bothered to show up or call? I am not impressed and hope that other people will not have a similar experience.

The new sprinkler system was installed timely and in a professional manner. The results were even better than I had expected. The sprinkler heads were installed using a flexible line from the leader line to be able to repair the sprinkler heads easier and to be able to fine adjust the position of the heads.

Ed provided an estimate without measuring my backyard, but he seemed confident and punctual and was highly rated on this site. However sod install required 4 separate days due to errors in measuring the area. Ed came back to check on the yard twice during the first month, when the yard was fenced off from my dogs. The new sod was established and beautiful. Two months later the lawn was dying and I could not get my phone calls returned. Friendly fellow, expensive, terrible result. Hire at your own risk.

Ed the Sodfather has been in business for 38 years and was very honest and helpful in giving and helping with suggestions for my landscaping. He "beautified" my backyard. I would highly recommend him to others.

this job was done several years ago , he and his crew installed railroad tie to build up a slope on my property. After the railroad ties were in, they then placed yards and yards of topsoil there and then installed the sod. Work was done well and in a timely manner. Will look forward to working with Ed and his crew in the future.

Ed and his crew did a fabulous job on installing plantings in a garden bed of mine. At the same time he planted a couple of trees and checked out my sprinkler system to make sure everything was getting enough water. I would recommend Ed highly and look forward to working with him again.
