We purchased another home and did not pursue the remodeling project. America and Jim evaluated the project and wrote bids in a timely manner, America's follow up was excellent, Based upon the other reviews from clients that actually completed their projects I assume that this high level of customer service would have continued in our project as well.

They wanted to know how I got their name ( off of angies list) and informed me that the;y are used to working on bigger jobs than mine( entry doors), and that I should go to Lowes or Home Depot. This was a $1750.00 job (their labor) and they were not really interested in it. They were polite and I was very dissappointed. First and probably last time I use Angies List.

They do great work. The only hang up was; we were hoping to get stated sooner. They are busy because their work is great.

Jim and America's team was efficient and professional, and kept us informed of the process at each step. We could not have been happier with the end result!

We have used OC Home Builders three times over the last four years. Projects included upgrade/remodel of two bathrooms, complete kitchen remodel, removal of popcorn ceiling; paint, and new flooring, etc. When I recently listed the place to get ready for retirement, everyone, from realtors, buyer, inspector and assessor, all commented on the excellent quality of the work. I would definitely recommend them for any project, large or small.

If you have any hesitation in using OC Homebuilders, let me offer this: We hired Jim Fischer to do some extensive remolding work on our home in 2014. We were completely impressed with his work ethic, quality, value, and integrity. What's more impressive is that he and his wife, America, never forget you. They have helped us out and are always available for small jobs and even consultation. We are going through some home inspection "fix it" items and Jim and America are always great about helping us work through issues. I can't stress enough how please we have been with their level of service. Don't hesitate; hire them!

I was a little hesitant about calling OC Home Builders because this was a relatively small job. However, since the company had done several remodels for me previously (two bathrooms and a kitchen two years ago) I took a chance. The owner came to my home in just a few days to do a quote, then squeezed in my job shortly after that. I was very satisfied with the quality of the work, and the excellent customer service. I would hire them again if I had anything left to remodel.

Jim and America Fischer are the husband and wife owners of OC Homebuilders. Jim and America restored our faith that there are still ethical contractors with high integrity who do quality work for a fair price. Before we found OC Homebuilders on Angie's list, we had experienced some of the "construction horror stories" one hears about while undergoing a major remodeling. By the time we contracted with OC Homebuilders to do our project, we were jaded and overly cautious of contractors. Our decision to call Jim was based on their consistently excellent rating on Angie's list. We took a leap of faith and Jim and America did not disappoint. They did their best (and continue to do their best as we near completion of our project) to ensure that we were happy customers and made real to us their mission of "making dreams come true one room at a time." From our first meeting and thoroughout our project, Jim was very professional. He explained to us the scope of our project and the work involved. He gave a fair bid that was complete and turnkey with the scope of work and materials clearly outlined in detail as per blueprint/plan. Schedule of payments were clear and there were no unexpected expenses. In fact, Jim surprised us with a freebie upgrade or two (trim, insulation and 2 extra electrical outlets) without us asking for it! Logistically, his wife, America, ran the back office and made sure that scheduling of jobs and communication ran smoothly. She made the process of remodeling less stressful with her patience and sense of humor during the occasional snafus that resulted from an oversight or miscommunication on our part. She worked tirelessly to get permits and inspections done on time. In terms of workmanship, Jim and his crew did not take short cuts. They made sure they did quality work. For example, when they were laying the foundation of our addition, Jim and his crew went beyond what was required on the blueprint specifications even if it meant more work for them. Their framer, Paul's work was so good that a neighbor, who was a retired carpenter and craftsman took notice. Jim and his sons did the electrical work and did their best to accommodate a few reasonable changes we made after the work was done. Our remodel is now nearing completion and so far, I have nothing but good things to say about our experience working with Jim and America and their crew at OC Homebuilders. We plan to hire them again on our next project and would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone. They responded immediately to my call. They worked when they promised they would be there. They were flexible when I asked them to install under the kitchen cabinet lighting in the last minute. They did install them and the are amazing! The cabinets took forever to be built and when they were ready, OC Home Builders were ready to jump in to install them. America and Jim make you feel like you are their only customer, because they always respond right away and are available when you need them. I have worked with them in two remodels and will not hesitate to work with them again.

Jim & America were absolutely fantastic. For most of the job, I had to communicate with them from South Carolina as I packed up my mother's house to move her out here. They were extremely quick and efficient with communication and did a fantastic job. We really enjoyed working with everyone on their crew. They became a part of the family. I highly recommend them and can't wait to hire them for our next project!

I was happy with Jim and his crew and would use them again. The same guys worked on my job each day and hi how was nice and each person knew their role and specialty. You better have your plan ready to go because If you don't cover it all with Jim up front he will move so fast on the job it will be tough to make changes after the fact. For instance know that you want under cabinet lighting prior to starting the job. They cleaned up after each day's work too.

The first estimate came in before expected and they were very responsive to our questions. However, after carefully reviewing their proposal, we noticed there were a few items missing so I contacted OC Home Builders to have the missing items added to the proposal. They responded back right away and said they will take a look at the missing information and will get back to us.. A few days later, still no response or no email from them so I contacted them again to get an update and they again said they will get back to me. That was more then a week ago and still no response from them. It's too bad because we enjoyed meeting Jim and his son, Chase, and Jim seemed like a honest guy. We were really impressed with how responsive they were initially and was really considering hiring them for the job. Not sure what happened there. It's disappointing.

We found OC Home Builders to be very professional. We had an awful time with our insurance company paying out what was required to have our garage restored. OC Home Builders worked with us to negotiate with our insurance company to allow us to restore our garage. They were professional every step of the way and remained in contact with us through out the process. Their assistance with this process was invaluable.

My husband and I had been dreaming about remodeling our tiny little beach cottage for the 4 years since we bought it, but were nervous because we heard horror stories of general contractors taking twice the time to complete projects as promised, overcharging for every nit picky item and coming in way over budget, and not hiring qualified people to do the job. We reached out to three different General Contractors before starting this project. One took a week to reply to us. One never replied at all, and OC Homebuilders replied within a few HOURS, with Jim at our door to give us a price estimate for the project within a couple of days. Every single concern we had about General Contractors Jim proved otherwise. His team finished the project on time, on budget, and most importantly, kept us completely informed the entire time so there were NO surprises and my husband and I felt comfortable while the project was underway. Jim's crew were the nicest, hard-working group of people... from the tile guys Freddy and Chuy to the painter Dave and the Jack-of-all-Trades Paul, we trusted every single one of them and the results are fantastic. We love that OC Homebuilders is a true family business, with America keeping us informed and on track, and their two grown sons working alongside their Dad. They gave us hope for the future generation, because they were the two most polite, hard-working young men. We have already referred a friend to Jim for a high-end bathroom remodel, and hope to send many more his way. Thank you to OC Homebuilders for making our dream beach cottage a reality. When we are ready for "Phase 2" you will certainly be getting a call!

Working with OC Home Builders has been a great experience. Jim and America are an excellent team and are easy to work with. Having someone dedicated to managing the communication and billing while the other manages the workload and sub-contractors allows for the project to run as smoothly as possible. Communication has been excellent; any questions or concerns are always promptly addressed. The workers on site have been friendly, reliable, detail oriented, and mindful of keeping the site clean and organized. We wouldn't hesitate to work with OC Home Builders again and to recommend them to our friends for any project big or small.

OC homebuilders did a complete remodel of both our master bathroom and second bathroom. This included: 1) Demolish and haul away existing fixtures (Removed all tile, stripped paint from walls,demolished and removed Vanity, cabinets, toilet and shower. The master bathroom had just a shower. The hall bathroom had a tub / shower combo. 2) Replaced with brand new: a) built new shower for master bathroom including new fixtures. b) retiled floor c) tiled shower wall d) painted untiled walls e) installed new toilet f) installed new vanity and countertop g) installed new LED light over vanity h)installed new mirror over vanity i) installed new medicine cabinet j) installed new clear seamless shower glass (subcontracted - I used Lakewood Glass based on OC homebuilder referral and Angies List reviews k) 2nd bathroom all of the above was done there also except for the medicine cabinetl) l) 2nd bathroom = removed existing tub and replaced with new tub. Installed new fixtures for tub and shower m) installed new ceiling exhaust fan and new ductwork. OC Homebuilders was fabulous. The business is run by Jim Fischer and his wife America. They were fabulous to do business with. Their crew which included Jim and his sons for plumbing and electrical, Joe and an assistant for tile and Robert for painting were great. Their work was excellent and they were totally professional. They took a great deal of pride in their work. My wife and I actually started our remodeling project by soliciting bids starting in mid December. I am not very mechanical (hardly at all), and I had no clue what to ask as we began soliciting bids. I bombarded the contractors with questions via email. Jim took the time to patiently go into detail and answer every one of my questions. Once we selected OC Homebuilders and signed the contract, Jim met us at a store to help us select our vanities, countertops and mirrors. Once our tile requirements were known he took us to a tile store and guided us through the selection process for both floor tile and the wall tile for the showers. We would have been lost without his assistance. He suggested stores to go to, but he would have gone with us to any store of our choosing. He also recommended a plumbing store to go to for fixtures and offered to meet us there also, but the store itself was so helpful, that his assistance wasn't necessary. Even there, we were sure to confirm our choices with him. Once work started OC Homebuilders and crew were completely professional At the end of each day they explained what would be done the next day and confirmed times. As mentioned, everyone took complete pride in their work . We had complete confidence we would wind up with two beautiful bathrooms and we have.I listed the price for the jiob as $ 22,428. The actual labor cost paid to OC Homebuilders was $ 13,438.The differnce is for materials we purchased (toilets, vanities, mirrors, lights, tile etc)and for the shower glass installation. I was cleaning up my paperwork from the project today, and I was amazed at all of the emails between us as I sent Jim questions and he responded. Jim was completly professional and thorough throughout the whole process. The actual project work started the first week of March and completed on April 2. I told Jim that I'm going to miss having him and his crew come out here each morning. That's how easy they were to work with.. I also want to thank his wife America. She handles all of the billing and receipt paperwork and coordinates communication regarding work schedules and activities. She was also great to work with.

Jim and America were great! They responded immediately to my initial inquiry and were in contact with us all the time throughout the entire project. The project went as planned. There was glitch due to a miss communication between city engineer and inspector, but OC Builders made it go easy. All workers were professional and super nice. The work quality was exceptional. We were very pleased with the results.

They were very nice and responsive. I got an estimate from someone else and decided to go with them. The estimate from OC Home builders was good, but I didn't agree on some of the things they wanted to do. I was appreciative that they came out even though they were about to leave for vacation.

Originally contacted them for assistance in getting a permit for an already constructed bathroom addition that had not been properly permitted. They provided an excellent architect to draft the blueprints, and assisted/advised me on meetings with the city inspector. Where and when necessary they cut into the existing structure to examine and ensure that all items where up to code. Where necessary, they brought up to code several small items, mandated by City of Huntington Beach. Also provided plumbing expertise, where sewer pipes had to meet minimum standards per city. Finally, repaired, and drywalled all cuts that were necessary for the city to inspect the previous work. I had hired a painter to finally paint the area, and he commented that the guy from OC home builders, had done such a good job on the drywall repair, that he, (the painter), couldn't even tell where the repairs had been made.

They performed great on all facets of the job, from estimate to completion. Always on time and cleaned up each afternoon. Excellent workmanship.

Looking for contractors to perform a series of home improvements, we decided to include OC Home Builders. From the first meeting, we realized we have find the right company. As we progressed on our project, we were always impressed by the way this company helped us in reaching our objectives. We never had the opportunity to meet Jim Fischer before, but from the beginning we thought of this as when you call on a friend to help you with a project, and your friend calls more buddies, and they help you to carry on with what is needed. Of course OC Home Builders charge for what they do, but not much more than the competition. We went thru several companies, most of them from Angies List, and chose OC Home Builders, although there were others very competitive. The Fischers, Jim, America, Chase and Clay, and the rest of the crew, Paul, David, John, Melchor, were always on time, with a great sense of professionalism and responsiveness. No matter what the issue at hand was, it was always approached with the best attitude and if in doubt, Jim will have a better idea, even if it would imply more involvement on their part. America will be always ready at the office, or on the field, to make you feel at ease and confident that, whatever the need was, small or large, easy or complicated, would be done, on time and on schedule. OC Home Builders is a rare type of gems that make the homeowner safe and confident, that they will work with you and thru all the complications, you will be satisfied with the results. From the first appointment to the last time that they were working on our home, a handshake, a smile and the impression that they will always be there, is how we will remember these guys, especially Jim Fischer, the owner of OC Home Builders. We highly recommend this company and thank Angie's for providing their name to the community, and be aware of their existence, work ethics and attitude in general.

We did not end up hiring them to do any work. We decided to do much of it ourselves because of the cost. If the cost had been lower we would have surely hired this company. Very professional.

Here I am again. OC Homebuilders added a computer room to my house in 2013 and I was very pleased with the quality of service and the professionalism displayed by his workers. Jim is a very hard charger and is very devoted to his business and proper treatment of his employees and customers. After the completion of work in 2013 I have had months to dwell on the experience and decided to have Jim Fischer design and build the new remodel my wife and I have been wanting to get for years. Jim and his crew are very responsive to the needs of the clients and the ability to adapt to the ever changing events that occur while the construction is in progress. My compliments to his wife, America who is the office manager and never failed to return an email or telephone call when questions were being asked. This is a plus for anyone who needs to contact their contractor for questions or advice. I would also like to pay a special compliment to Paul, the framer and handyman who has an uncanny ability with problem solving. There is no substitute for experience and Paul is very much a professional in every way. Paul does not hesitate to take time to explain the different steps he is working on for the curious mind. Compliments should also be paid to the rest of his crew and family members who work for Jim, all a bunch of hard working people. There always seemed to be someone at the worksite and if there was not, there was without fail, an email to explain why, or the next process. I have heard many horror stories of contractors who take the money and run or who show up on a worksite late, or not at all. No problems with OC Homebuilders, all workers are on time and ready to get the job done. I have received many compliments from neighbors, friends and family as to how clean the worksite is at the end of the work days. It makes a homeowner feel not only more proud of the work being done but also safer in a clean environment. Although the job was not as economical as I had planned, it was no fault of OC Homebuilders. Things happen with a project this extensive and a buffer should be allocated by anyone anticipating a job of this size. Jim works with his clients to make them feel better about the work being performed. Jim is conscious of 100% customer satisfaction. Jim, although I have run out of areas for you to expand our house, and money to build, I wish you luck in your future and glad you could fit my project into your busy schedule. Not only are the people of OC Homebuilders a good team, with the amount of time I spent with them, I almost consider them family now and they will be missed.
