I worked with Omri - He provide initial consult and quote in a timely and professional manner. Office staff that helps coordinate the work is on top of every detail and always quick to respond to questions. There team of workers are very good and polite. Kept the place clean through the entire project. Our three week project got delayed due to material arrival - that added to the stress level but over all it was a good experience and i would recommend Horizon. Professional team.

We wanted a free estimate on a kitchen remodel but after the initial conversation with the provider, we felt the project would have been over budget for us at this time.

Horizon Construction did an incredible job on our kitchen from day one! Omri and Mark have been there each step of the way with great ideas and suggestions and then they bring fantastic workers in to make them a reality. From countertops to cabinets to floors and plumbing they have the best of the best working for them. We had a kitchen wall that needed to be removed and needless to say my wife and I were worried about tearing our house apart! Horizon managed the process with precision and now the house looks like it was originally built without that wall. I can't say enough good things about this team - they are professional, diligent, responsible, fairly priced and they always do what they say they are going to do. We have had a couple of issues along the way but Horizon demonstrated their commitment to customer service each time something came up. They take responsibility and fix issues as they arise without any questions. I would highly recommend Horizon to friends and family and encourage anyone considering a remodel to use them.

Mark and Nina were wonderful to work with, and all of the workers they used were fantastic. I would highly recommend them. They were always very prompt and kept the place clean. They were all very easy to work with. We love our new bathroom.

When called to set up consultation I was asked what my budget was and then told that I did not meet their minimum job cost and they would be unable to provide a consultation. They stated their minimum job would be $8,000. The woman that called was very professional and courteous.

We wanted an estimate for a small bath remodel and complete re-piping of our house. I guess we missed the minimum job requirement of $10,000 and were told that we would be better off getting our own plumber and painter. I thought that was what a "contractor"was supposed to do. I am sure that he was right in that it would be cheaper, but so would doing it myself! Neither of of which are an option for us.

This was one of two providers that we contacted to try and hire to replace our kitchen countertop. This provider either told us that we were too small of a job or never called us back. I would hope that it was maybe just a misunderstanding or miscommunication but I probably wouldn't try calling them again.

The company provided an estimate on a full fireplace remodel. They were slightly above the other companies in terms of cost. They were punctual, cordial and explained what they could do in detail. Part of our remodel was to have the fireplace reduced in size (mantle was at 6 ft and we wanted it dropped by at least 12" so we could add a new a TV set above it). The other part was to remodel it so instead of a brick look, it had a new travertine facade. We just couldn't easily mesh our plans with what the company was able to complete. So we went with someone else.

Anna told me they needed the business owner (I am the Chief Operating Officer) to be present for them to come out and measure two walls for a window installation and a wall removal. I'm not sure why I (as the C.O.O.) of this business am not qualified to watch them measure two walls. Addionally, before anything else was discussed, Anna asked me what we expected to pay for this work. Now, as the contractor, would she not be the person to know this? I'm pretty sure estimates are used to gauge this, and had she scheduled one with me, perhaps we would both know the "expected cost" of this job. This sounds like a very shady and questionable practice. Nice work, Anna. You just lost another prospective client. I have two other qualified contractors more than willing to accept a check signed by me for the work completed. Good luck to you.

Horizon just completed a gut rehab remodel of our kitchen (which included removing a wall) and we were very pleased with the whole process. This was our first remodeling project and we didn't quite know what to expect going into it. We worked primarily with Omri who did an absolutely wonderful job keeping everything on track and helping us each step of the way. He truly went above and beyond to ensure that our needs were met and that we were happy with the end result. The remodel was completed in a timely manner and each of the work crews that came in were courteous, professional and cleaned everything up at the end of each day. Another plus for us was that Horizon was all inclusive. We didn't have to choose a separate place to buy/install the cabinets from and another for the counters, etc. They handle everything which makes it so much easier!

It went well, except for one issue, upon demo the sub they used failed to leave the old aluminum window frame in place. Which resulted in exterior patchwork. It delayed the job and I now have a patchwork done on the outside of my home. The issue delayed the job. But they absorbed the costs, of the labor. They were up on the latest regulations, and saved me, from experiencing additional delays

No work done - too expensive.

Our master bathroom remodeling work started in late Sept 2013 and completed in Nov 2013. On the positive side, Horizon's office is very efficient in scheduling work and they are responsive. They communicate often to let you know what is going on. The pricing for the initial project was reasonable but adding any extra work items or modifications to the project was quite expensive. We recommend you think through what you want to get done up front. Also, note that we paid for stones, lighting, and bath fixtures separately so the overall cost of the project was around $25,000. Our biggest disappointment was with the quality of work by the tile guys. We bought some very nice and expensive natural stone tiles. They were not laid down properly, e.g a whole bunch of the darker tiles were placed in one area together, instead of mixing the darker ones with the lighter ones as we had asked them to do. The result is disappointing to say the least. The tile guys did not seem to understand English very well and there was no one to supervise their work. Horizon has a supervisor, Eli, but he hardly showed up. And when he did show up he was not helpful at all. Whatever you asked him, his first answer was " we can't do that" or " it is fine as is"! Mark the owner is reasonable as long as there is agreement on everything. However, if there is any sort of disagreement with him, he gets angry, loses his temper with you, and raises his voice. This definitely iss not acceptable or professional behavior for a contractor. All together we were not impressed.

I chose Horizon Construction and Remodeling (HCR) because of their excellent presentation and fabulous reputation on Angie?s List. This was a wise decision because HCR proved to be an ethical, caring and efficient company. My original remodeling job was to remove the bathtub in the master suite and install a walk-in shower. During the remodeling, I added additional electrical, plumbing changes and repairs to my home. The HCR crew held my hands throughout the whole process. The office staff called me frequently to check how I was doing and to make sure everything was going okay. The workers, in my home, were hardworking, fast and clean. There were a couple of hiccups with the job but I was very impressed with the prompt, same day, actions taken to correct any problems. In addition, all inspections were passed on first try. The price was reasonable for all of the work done and some things were not even charged. I couldn't be happier and I wholeheartedly recommend Horizon Construction and Remodeling and I will call them again for my next remodeling project. (member name removed) La Mirada

Our contractor was Mark Besnos. Mark is definitely who you want doing your remodeling. Mark is fastidious. His attention to detail was unbelievable. As picky as he is, I wouldn't want to be his wife. As with any job, there were things that needed tweaking. Mark made sure everything was absolutely perfect. We had an issue with the stainless steel tiles for the backsplash. After installing it was obvious that some of the tiles had a different finish (brushed finish instead of shiny finish). Mark had the tile company come to the house. He made sure the issue was fixed. His office staff, Enna, and Anna, were terrific. There was never a time when I called that I didn't get a hold of Mark, Enna, or Anna. The best part, everyone who has come to see the kitchen, even all the subcontractors, complimented us on the kitchen. It should be on the cover of Better Homes & Gardens. Sherry.

This is an excellent contractor. They did excellent work on time. There were some new building codes we didn't know about. Horizon made it right. They exchanged a toilet we had purchased for one that met code, and installed 2 automatic light switches. They did this at NO EXTRA CHARGE. If I have more remodeling to do in the future, I will call them.

I contacted this provider to set up a quote for tile installation in bedroom, bathroom, and walk-in closet. Although they responded quickly, I was told they do not do jobs unless they are at least $8,000.00. Its a shame that they turn business away, because I won't be calling them for larger projects either.

There are already the well-acknowledged passages associated with life; birth, marriage, divorce, graduation, the new job. I?d like to add one more?remodeling. The decision to embark upon the renovation path, in most cases, involves entering into a relationship with a contractor. Selecting one, in many respects, is only slightly less important than say choosing a spouse or deciding to have children. Remodeling your home can be a journey filled with uncertainty, havoc and frustration as you work toward the beautiful surroundings you envisioned those many months earlier. As the old knight who guarded the room of chalices in a scene from the movie, Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade, mused, ?Choose wisely.? Fortunately, we did when we contracted with Mark of Horizon Construction. You want your contractor to be competent, trustworthy, and reliable. Mark was all of these and more. Mark takes a personal interest in his work. He is on the site much of the time ensuring that his workers are doing their best. When things go wrong, he makes sure they get fixed. Like any relationship, there will be disagreements or misunderstandings, but Mark handled them in a professional and sincere manner. The bottom line here is that Mark wants his customers to be happy. I could relate several episodes of Mark?s commitment to customer satisfaction, but the one that meant the most to us was when we had a sewer line back up into the house (no fault of Mark?s). Out of panic, I called Mark and he came out immediately and with his foreman worked on clearing the line. He didn't have to do that. He could have told us to call a plumber and gone back to what he was doing. I highly recommend Horizon Construction and Mark as your choice for your remodel project. You will have chosen wisely.

We made a call to Horizon after seeing a remodeling job they completed in our area. Their rep was very helpful, in terms of scheduling an appt. and understanding what we were looking for. Their project rep (Mark) came out to our residence on time and we didn't feel rushed. He listened to what our needs were and shared examples of their work. He also gave us a much better understanding of what all was involved from project inception, engineering, approvals and permits, build out etc. Overall we were pleased with the experience. We did decide to hold off on the project this year, but are keeping Horizon on our short list when we do pursue it.

My initial experience with Enna when I first called to set up an appointment was very professional and pleasant. We set up an appointment to meet with Mark, the GC, within 2 weeks of the call. Mark was professional, listened well to what we had in mind, augmented these visions with his own excellent design ideas, and made us feel very confident at the first meeting that Horizon was likely the best choice for us. After meeting with several other GCs over the next few weeks, Horizon was in our top 3 finalists, and we made the choice to move forward with them based on our feelings of confidence that they really understood what we wanted to do. Horizon was not the lowest bidder, nor were they the highest. After confirming with Mark our choice to move forward with Horizon, we met with him again to go over in more detail the project scope and timeline and to sign paperwork for the plan development. The initial project timeline was identified as 10-12 weeks. Soon after this meeting, he swiftly had plans drawn up for the architectural changes to our kitchen and living room and submitted them for approval. Expecting approval to take several weeks, Mark suggested we start working on the master bathroom remodel so as not to lose momentum. During Master Bath demolition, Mark identified some unanticipated framing work after the walls were stripped. Although I was not expecting this, we compromised on the cost of addressing this work, which set the tone for addressing unexpected work going forward. Work on the Master Bath went longer than expected based on some changes to scope as well as some permit hang-ups, but the finished product was exactly what we wanted. Approval of the Kitchen\Living Room plans came back quicker than expected (in a few days as opposed to weeks), and work on the kitchen and living room commenced and ran concurrent with the work on the master bathroom. This work involved removing walls between the galley kitchen, the den/4th bedroom, the living room and the dining area with the ultimate design goal being a great room spanning all of these areas. Due to removing load-bearing walls, support beams had to be installed in the attic and 6 foot deep underpinnings had to be dug and placed in a several areas. Although the inside of our house was unrecognizable, the work proceeded on schedule for the most part. During the project, we did make some adjustments to overall scope (not changing planned work, just adding new work to overall scope, e.g., originally we had no intention of touching the fireplace, or any of the bedrooms; we made some decisions midstream to have Horizon redo the fireplace and floor and paint all of the bedrooms based upon design ideas from Mark). Change management on these items (and other items) was handled well by Enna. After the Master Bathroom completed, Horizon started on the guest bathroom remodel, which involved the following: Removal of HVAC unit from closet adjacent to the bathroom. Demolition of walls between HVAC closet, bathroom, and adjacent coat closet. Installation of new HVAC unit in the attic. Utilizing the square footage from the HVAC closet and the coat closet effectively doubled the square footage of the guest bathroom allowing us to convert it into a full bath with double vanity (from a ¾ bath). This was the last aspect of the project to complete.Considering that we lived in the house through the project (with the exception of 3 non-continuous weeks for vacation), we were eager to see the project complete, and we are extremely happy with the results. Horizon saw the vision we had for transforming the interior of our 55 year old ranch style house into something more modern and beautiful, and they executed on it. The only negative thing I feel compelled to note is that the crew was not considerate about keeping the work site clean: Paint brushes were rinsed out in the plants in the front yard; razors, cuttings from wood, discarded pieces of wire, food wrappings, etc continually littered my front yard and driveway. I asked Mark and Enna to address with their crew at least two times, however it didn?t fix the situation and I ultimately ended up cleaning up after the crew. This may seem petty or perhaps I am naïve about a project of this magnitude, but it made me feel disrespected as a customer for my concerns about this to go effectively ignored. Lastly I have to say that, Horizon Construction (Mark, Enna and their whole crew) we're extremely friendly and nice throughout the entirety of the project. Never once did I second guess my choice. By the end of the project, I still felt comfortable that we had made the best choice. Since the completion of the project, Horizon has cheerfully addressed any issues that have come up.

We had scheduled an appointment about a week ago for a representative of Horizon to come out to our house and give us an estimate for some remodeling we would like to do. About one hour before the scheduled meeting, I received a call from the Horizon office confirming the meeting, and asking if my wife would also be there to meet the representative. When I said she was busy and could not be there, the person on the phone said that all parties were required to be in attendance for the discussion and estimate, and that they could not go through with the appointment. I found this quite surprising, since this was an initial appointment for an estimate only - not to sign a contract or begin any work. Since I had taken an afternoon off from work to be home for this meeting, I was extremely annoyed. I understand this company has a good track record, but I found their requirements quite baffling, and their behavior very unprofessional. Needless to say, I will not be calling them back to reschedule an appointment.

I called Horizon after seeing all the great reviews on Angie's list. The women I spoke with said they were very busy, but they could come out to give me a free estimate in about 2 weeks. I agreed, and we set up the estimate for Wednesday 2/19 at 9 am. Tuesday night, around 7 pm she calls me to ask some questions about the work, and eventually asks me how much I think it will cost, because they usually only take jobs over $15,000.00. I asked her why she didn't mention this 2 weeks ago, since I had already planned on getting to work late this day. She did not have a good response, and the bottom line is this..............Horizon will not take a job that is not a larger dollar amount. So I waited two weeks for this appointment, just to find out the night before, that they do not want to come up because my job is not a large enough job, and they don't make enough money on it. That is a horrible way to do business. I seriously question the other good reviews on this company. I'm sure some of them are from family members or close friends.

They just came help us with the diagnosis and gave us some quote basically. The contact wasn’t as good with the contractor so I would not call him back for future work. I think it’s just personality wise more than anything else. The work includes flooring, painting and we wanted to change the window. I have nothing in particular to say was not good it’s just didn’t click. I think they were punctual and they came on time and they did what they have to do but it just didn’t push through.

I have noticed that all of the reviews that are negative come from people who didn't hire Horizon. Read the review from people who actually had work done if you want a valuable opinion. When we first met Mark Besnos (owner) at our house, he asked a lot of questions, offered suggestions, and was not at all afraid to offer his opinion when he thought we were wrong (this can be off-putting I suppose, except after you work with Mark for a while you will come to appreciate that he really knows what he is doing and you should listen to him!). Of the five bids we received for this work, Mark's was by far the most detailed and the only one that covered all of the details we discussed. Not the cheapest bid by far, but when I went back and looked at the holes in the other bids I had no doubt they would have change ordered me to death and I would have ended up spending the same or more likely more. The work started promptly and once started stayed pretty much on schedule throughout. Enna always kept us informed when things were going to be done, so there were never any major surprises. There were problems along the way as there always are in remodeling, and this is where Horizon really shines in my opinion - Mark always said "Don't worry, we will take care of it", and they always did. Every time. If you have had remodel work done before you know how rare this is. It's the way a business should be run, unfortunately many contractors don't seem to get it. We are extremely pleased with the work they did. In particular, our master bath which has all new cabinetry, onyx counter, travertine floors and shower walls, frameless glass shower and rainfall shower are spectacular. I remark to my wife when I get out of the shower in the morning that I feel like I'm staying at the Ritz Carlton! Thanks Mark and Enna. You guys are great!
