G and H Appliance Repair

My Kitchen Aid oven stopped working (heating) after I ran the self-cleaning function. I called G & H and explained the problem to Deborah. She set up an appointment for me and called me the morning Woody was scheduled to come out to let me know when he would arrive. When he arrive, he had already picked up the piece he suspected needed to be replaced, so once he tested the oven and found that that was indeed the needed replacement, he was able to fix it on the spot. Woody was very pleasant, professional, and took care to treat my oven (and wood floor, since he had to pull the oven out) gently. He even helped me clean out accumulated dust and dirt. Would definitely use G & H again.

He was very polite and friendly, and seemed very knowledgeable. He quickly figured out what was causing the problem, explained it to me thoroughly, and then fixed it. The lady who answered the phone when I called on Friday was very friendly, and explained the standard charges to me upfront. His fee was just was I expected -- no surprises. I would definitely recommend this company.

The machines were both fixed within 24 hours even though some parts had to be ordered

We had the washing machine stop working at the spin cycle on Sunday, and I checked Angie's List on Monday morning. Chose G & H Appliance Repair. Made the call and they fixed the problem he waited after repair while the washer cycled through to spin cycle, the washer has been working properly every since the repair on monday and now I am caught up on my laundry.

This went great, even though it took a couple of days to get it done. I discovered our dishwasher wasn't draining - apparently the pump wasn't working and as a result the dishwasher wasn't usable. G&H was able to send someone the next day, which was faster than the other services I tried calling. The technician came out and looked at, but found that the pump in our dishwasher was in the back, and someone had tiled over the front feet so getting the washer out of the spot under the counter would be problematic. He tried pushing it back further but it wouldn't budge. He said he couldn't determine if the pump was the problem without being able to look at, but tried to drain the dishwasher by putting a wet vaccuum on it - that sucked some glass out of the washer, and I told him my husband had broken a butter dish about a week earlier, and apparently hadn't got all the glass out of the appliance. He suggested that he order a new pump just in case the pump couldn't be fixed, but said it was probably just clogged with glass. He scheduled a new appointment for the following day, and said he would just bring out a hacksaw to cut the feet off the washer, which he assured me he had to resort to before in cases where some idiot tiled over the feet (like the prior owner of my house). He did come out the next day (I had to be out so my husband dealt with the actual repair), but as he predicted the pump came back to life after all the glass was cleared out of it, so the pump did not need to be replaced. That saved us about $100 on the repair, so I appreciate his honesty - I wouldn't have known the difference. Lesssons learned - don't believe my husband when he said he only broke a butter dish, as he'd apparently also broken a wine glass and most of the glass in the drain/pump was from that, and never believe him when he said he "got all the glass." I'm still finding glass in the kitchen.

Our clothes washer would not drain. Debbie worked with us to find a date that would work with our crazy schedules and adapted easilly to the time change we requested. Woody was on time, left the faulty part, cleaned up, and the washer works great! Added bonus - he noticed a burner on our stove was uncovered. My daughter explianed that she had made her famous homeade marshmallows and the sticky mess had clogged the flow of gas to the ignition point. I had been soaking the burner with damp paper towels hoping to remove the carmalized sugar. I couldn't quite get to the exact point needed. Woody took apart the burner and now it is working as well (we only requested washer service)! And no charge! A very positive first experience with both G and H Appliance and Angie's List!

The water dispenser on my side-by-side had stopped working. I knew that the water line still functioned correctly, as the ice maker was still working. Based on ratings and reviews I found on Angi's List, I contacted G and H Appliance to come out. I also requested that while here, they take a look at my stove, since it was not functioning properly. My first contact was with a lady that answered the hone (I later found out this is Woody's wife) who was very pleasant and efficient. She asked me pertinent questions about both of my appliances, and even told me where the find the model numbers. Woody arrived as scheduled, and as someone here previously stated, it is like having a favorite Uncle show up. Woody is personable, pleasant and professional. He immediately diagnosed the problem with my water dispenser and set about "defrosting the fill tube on the door". He also listened to my concerns about the oven temperature and not only adjusted the thermostat, but showed me how to do it if the problem arises again. (Little did I know there were instructions in my manual...) I was very pleased with the service and the price. I will definitely use G and H Appliance if I should have another need.

Everything went well. They were courteous and polite, and they did a good job with the repairs.

Top notch service. I will use him anytime I need something repaired. He was on time and explained everything he was doing on my freezer and my washer. I had both break down at the same time and he saved me tons of money having them repaired at a great price rather then spending a ton of money replacing these items. He is the nicest man and a dog lover, which is A+ in my book. If you want great service with a reliable person this is the man to call. He arrived on time. I showed him where the items were. As he started work on them he explained everything he was doing and told me how much each thing would cost. He finished the work wrote up the bill and was on his way, great service.

I thought it was a little expensive but they don't know what they are getting into when they come out. They were very professional, did their thing and it was fine.

Woody arrived within the expected time. After examining the washer, he explained the work and what needed to done along with his work guarantee. Woody is a very nice man and was professional & courteous.

Woody was great, always spot on on his diagnosis, and fast to fix the problem. No muss no fuss, and never felt at any time like we were being conned in any way. He always cleaned up before he left and the only sign he was even there was the fact that there was a working appliance when he left.

It went well. He is a pleasant man.

They showed up on time, already had the part in hand from my description of the problem. They made the repairs quickly with out any fuss and are just nice people to work with. I will use them again when the need arises.

Got the name from Angie's List. He came the next day and I was very satisfied.

Woody is like your best uncle or brother coming over and fixing your appliance problem. He made my old washer new again for less than buying a new one altogether. He came over twice; first to diagnose and second to install the hard to find parts. I feel I gave him a $300 tip and he did the work for free when he left. I would use him anytime. His perfect high rating with Angie's List isn't by luck or chance but by the highest expected performance and more!

Had a leak in washing machine so called G&H based on reviews on Angie's List. They responded quickly and even guided me through a few things I could check myself first. Said they didn't want to charge me to come out if it was an easy fix. That was very impressive. Since that did not fix the issue I did have them come out and asked that they also look at my frige freezer since they were coming. (Note freezer had been a minor issue for some time however not enough of an issue to fix on it's own) Woody arrived on time, was very professional and diagnosed the both issues rather quickly. He even shared that given the age of my washer (It's old) and possible wear he could replace the bad part and I would get more use of the machine but can't say how long. I appreciated the honestly and given the cost difference between repair and replace I decided to go ahead with the repair. Both were fixed quickly and work very well. I will definately use them again if needed (although hope I don't have to) and have already recomended to others.

The water and ice dispenser on my refrigerator stopped working. I called G and H after I found them here on Angie's list. I immediately got a call back and got scheduled for a visit for the next day. They arrived on time, was able to diagnose and repair the dispenser quickly. I definitely recommend them. Hopefully, I won't need them again, but if I do, I wouldn't hesitate using them again.

Two men who serviced the machine were both very professional - even super nice to my 3 dogs. After about an hour of attempting to get my piece of junk washer to work, they recommended buying a new one - even though this meant they would get less work on this job. Scheduling was also fantastic - they worked around my busy schedule & were exactly on time.

Woody came out, diagnosed the problem, ordered parts, and quickly installed them, Every step of the way Woody explained what he was doing, and why he was doing it. We would not only use him again, but refer him to family and friends.

Good Service and prompt. I am very satisfied and will be using them again.

He was fair, he didn't try to upsell me on anything. He told me the problem and was very helpful in assisting me with finding a new dishwasher.

This is a follow up to my previous review of 4/27/12. I was appalled to see my post had a "D" for professionalism, rather than my intended "A". I wanted to correct that IMMEDIATELY - read the glowing nature of my review and you will see it was a typo. I have requested that it be repaired. I had accidentally Woody came back and completed the repairs, for the exact cost estimated, which was hundreds and hundreds less than I expected and another appliance repairman estimated. The fridge/freezer another said should be thrown out because it would cost more than $700 to repair because of a bad compressor? less than $100 to repair with labor and parts - a simple compressor relay. The Dryer? Previously quoted $250. Woody found it was the front bearing assembly - $30 part $30 labor. $60 dollar visit charge (not charged for previous day) By the way - Woody even cleaned out the excessive lint - stopped me from doing it because the wires were still live - as a courtesy while the dryer was open. He then brough me a bunch of money he had found in the dryer (No, I was not supervising the job) and the took on the GE Monogram out of professional curiosity and commitment - at no charge. It was obvious that he had taken the job home and thought about it overnight, and simply was being t he ULTIMATE PROFESSIONAL. Turns out it was so frosted over with ice that the fans were not working but not broken. A total defrost and it was FINE. I am at a loss for words - hire the man, look no further, he is the appliance repairman you thought existed only in TV shows.I will never hire anyone else, or let anyone I know hire anyone else. I will say it again: TOTAL ROCKSTAR. Five Stars. A+ across the board. And by the way - I don't write reviews, so the length of this should speak volumes as well. Even my three year old and six year old liked and wanted to hang out with Woody!

They were very good. The guy was here when he said he would be here. He was great. We didn't compare prices. He was definitely professional. We would use them again.

My relatively new front loader washing machine began to sound like an airplane taking off, on New Year's eve, when I had tons of wash to do because of house guests at Christmas time. I called after the 1st of the year, and G&H came to my house the next day. They checked out the washer, and after 20 minutes, delivered the bad news: I needed to either get a very expensive repair (out of warranty) or a new washing machine. They told me I could continue to use it, noise or not, and eventually it would give out. The repair would have been within a few hundred dollars of the price a new machine, because it had to be taken apart completely for the new parts and repair. I decided to just keep using it and replace it when it finally "died." Ironically, it made a lot of noise one more time, and has worked fine ever since. I have no doubt they were telling me the truth, but in the process of moving it, and pulling some parts out, I"m guessing that something fell into place or perhaps something wedged in an odd spot, dropped out. I am hoping it continues to work for a lot longer. I have used G&H in past years and was always satisfied with their work and price.
