G and H Appliance Repair

G & H not only fixed the problem, they cleaned out all the lines and left my stove operating better than it did when I first moved into my house 12 years ago. And, they didn't charge me extra to do that.

.I really appreciated the fact that they were friendly and family owned. They guaranteed their work, and were local, meaning that they were accessible. I really appreciated talking to a person, instead of an answering machine. The owners are a married couple that work together to provide excellent service.

I called G&H and gave them the model number. They understood the design and the likely problem and repair.We made an appointment for the next day. They arrived on time, with the part, and fixed it well. They did a very good job of being neat and clean, and dealing with a kind of difficult location that our dishwasher is installed in. Overall a very good experience.

The Kitchen Aid Refrigerator in my rental unit went out on Saturday. Being a good landlord I wanted to get it fixed asap. I called G and H on Saturday afternoon and gave them all of my info. I also went to their website and filled out a repair request form which has a spot for make and model number so Woody, the owner and repair specialist can come to the call prepared. Woody called me Sunday late afternoon and we set up an appointment for Monday at 1pm. He called in the morning to make sure that someone would be there to let him in and then showed up promptly after calling to say he would be arriving soon. This guy knows his stuff. Before even unscrewing a thing he said that it would be one of two things and he was correct. Fortunately for me, it was a compressor relay and not the actual compressor which saved me a ton of money. He removed the compressor relay and replaced it with a new part he had brought in his truck. The total call took less that 30 minutes.

I had a problem with my dryer. I called G & H on Monday. They explained up front that there would be a $60 fee to visit and evaluate the problem (which, as far as I could tell, is pretty standard for a washer/dryer call). They couldn't come out that day and I was unavailable Tuesday. I said I would prefer a morning call so I wouldn't have to miss much work. After asking what time I left for work (8:30), they scheduled someone to come out Wednesday morning. Woody arrived at 7:45. He already knew that I was trying to get out the door and went right to work. He diagnosed my problem, replaced the faulty part and was out the door by 8:15am. Prompt service and I felt they valued my time. I would definitely use them again (although I hope I don't have to for awhile!).

I called G & H right after 9A Monday morning. The scheduler asked me a few questions and then started to explain their flat rate 'service' policy if we were seeking an diagnostic estimate. I told her that was not necessary as I knew we had a hole in the drain hose of the washer. It had been damaged during our recent move. She said Woody would be out on Tuesday between 9 and 12. Great! Later in the day, Woody called and asked about the washer, I gave him the model number and warned him that my son tried to repair the hose himself and a number of screws had been removed from the back of the washer. He chuckled and said 'Not to worry.' He said he would try to get the part Tuesday morning, but it it was not available he would be out Wednesday morning. He added that he would call Tuesday morning at 8 to let me know if the part was in stock. Tuesday morning at 7:59 my phone rang. Woody said he had the replacement hose and would arrive in about 30 minutes. He asked if we were in a tri-plex or four-plex which told me he knew the neighborhood. Woody and his assistant arrived about 45 minutes later, (it was raining that morning). They immediately set to work. Put the screws back my son had removed and began the installation of the hose. Within 20 minutes, the washer was repaired, I had paid him and they were out the door. There was no mystery; no second guessing; and, more importantly, no delay. I was kept informed throughout the process, When the need arises in the future, I will not hesitate to call G & H for the repairs. You can use G & H with complete confidence.

It's a long story: Our approx 7- to 9-year-old GE fridge died on us...during a heat wave...after a grocery shopping trip...on a Sunday (9/4)...on Labor Day weekend. Not good! We chose G&H using Angie's List, looking soley at providers with service awards. We called G&H in a panic, but obviously they were closed for the weekend and holiday. Instead we went to Unnamed Big Box Electronics Store and purchased a new fridge, but it couldn't be delivered until Wednesday [our house is older and can only accommodate 34" fridges and smaller, so our fridges are always special orders--sigh]; we bought lots of ice and dry ice and figured we could make do. G&H called back on Tuesday (9/6), to let us know about their $60 service call fee; we told them we'd gone ahead and bought new. The new fridge was delivered on Wednesday (9/7)...and it didn't work. Never got cold once. (OK, really???) We wrestled with Unnamed Big Box Electronics Store for another several days. At that point, most of our food was already done for. We finally called G&H, frustrated and disgusted, on 9/9, and asked them to come take a look at the old fridge, which we kept in the hope that we could repair it and use it out in the garage. They could come on Monday, 9/12; the catch was that they would need to make the service call while we were at work (we both teach school and could not be present during normal business hours). On Monday, after some communication glitches, Woody was able to locate the fridge, evaluate the fridge, and fix the fridge. We communicated via phone and texting. Woody replaced the defrost/heater kit; they had taken the fridge's serial number over the phone, and he came prepared with the part. No sooner had I texted him to go ahead with the job than he was finished. After going to h*** and back with Unnamed Big Box Electronics Store, and ultimately canceling the new fridge order, we got the old fridge moved back into the kitchen on Wednesday (9/14)...and it quit working later that night; no lights, and the fans and coolers stopped working altogether. We called G&H again; Woody came back out on Thursday (9/15), and determined that the main control (the green computer board) had fritzed for some unknown reason. Again, he had the part, and he replaced it almost as soon as I had texted him my "yes" to go ahead with the repair. Woody texted again the next day (9/16) to be sure we were going into the weekend with a fridge in working condition. All told, the fridge cost about $350 to repair ($184.05 for the first call; $166.16 for the second). While we weren't thrilled about needing a second repair visit, we were happy that Woody did not charge us the $60 service call fee for the second visit. We felt the pricing was fair overall, and after the new fridge fiasco we endured (a two-week ordeal!), fixing the old fridge for under $400 sounded pretty good to us! We also appreciated the fact that Woody was willing to work with us even though we couldn't take the day off to be there, and we felt as though we could trust him to work ethically and with integrity despite our absence. I believe our trust was well-placed. Woody was even willing to figure out the whole texting thing in order to communicate with us during our classtime! In contrast to the h*** of working with the Unnamed Big Box Electronics Store, we appreciated Woody's old-fashioned good service. Yeah, we'll use him again, if the need should arise, and we'd recommend him to others.

I left Woody a VM about installing my dishwasher... he called me back immediately and told me that this was not something he does... He was polite and professional and referred me to a good company that could do the job for me inexpensively.... He gave me the owners name who he knew well... They took good care of me. He was very helpful and responsive even though he w as not able to do the job.

Called on Wednesday. They could have been here on Thursday. We had appointments on that day and Friday so I suggested Monday. They (Debbie) said that they worked on Saturday. Set a time and Woody showed up rignt on the mark. Woody arrived and went straight to work. Quickly diagnosed the problem and had the right part with him. Oven was ready to go shortly thereafter. He took a look at my range hood (fan wouldn't work) , pulled it out and lubricated it and voila, didn't have to replace it. He was in and out in 30 to 40 minutes. Work was neat and good. This Company will get all of any appliance work in the future.

Exemplary service. Will definitly call this company again if and when necessary.

Found this company on angie's list and was impressed by the great reviews. I called and an appt was set for the next day. he showed up on time, knew what was wrong, fixed it quickly, and it was a tremendous pleasure for me, who has had bad experiences, to deal with Woody and Mark. They are a rare breed and I am glad for people like them.

I was relieved to learn that my refrigerator's thermostat, which had been causing everything to freeze everywhere in the unit, could be replaced and that I'd get a few more years out of my appliance. The part was replaced quickly within a few days of the original diagnosis. My oven hinges had also worn out and wouldn't allow the door to close completely so they were replaced too. That installation also took only a few minutes.

Washer on the fritz Friday night; joined Angie's list over weekend, impressed by reviews and emailed Woody with problem, model number, etc.; he knew just what was needed; gave me estimate; here Monday morning, replaced part. Prompt, professional service. What more could you ask for. Perfect. Thanks Woody.

Prompt, professional service. Called in evening when I discovered my refrigerator and freezer were not working. Came early the next day, saving my food from spoilage. Very happy with his service. I was surprised that such a small fan wouold cost $100.00 though

I used G&H Appliance last year to repair a washing machine. I was very satisfied with the service and was glad to see them on Angie's List (I am a new member). This is a family business with all work done by Woody. I called, gave the oven's make and model number and was given an appointment the next day. Woody arrived early with the proper part. He is very friendly, professional, and he explained each step to me. He cleaned up the area around the oven before leaving.

My vegetables and fruits were freezing in the refrigerator. I would have them in either the crisper drawer or on the shelf above it. Believing that my refrigerator was a relatively new one, it came with the house and the house was 5 years old, I found out that my refrigerator was actually 3 times the age of the house. In other words, it was 15 years old. I called G and H and they were able to schedule me within 2 days. Since it was so close to Thanksgiving, I was very happy. The person came out and said that he couldn't find anything wrong with it but he did notice a 15 degree difference from the crisper drawer to the rest of it. I ended up replacing the refrigerator.

This was an expected and very much appreciated action. I paid exactly what was described and not a penny more. They were excellent at telling me what their fees were before they made the house call.

I called G&H based on the positive reviews here on Angie's list. I needed my oven calibrated and asked if they could come out to service my oven. After asking a few questions (e.g., was my oven temp off by a lot or just a little), Woody told me how I could calibrate the oven on my own (using the manufacturer's manual). I looked up the information and found the relevant instructions. If this doesn't resolve the problem, I am definitely calling Woody and Debbie back. They are honest, helpful, and genuinely seem to care about their customers.

Finding a company to fix something in your house is always a gamble until you find the right professional. It's sad that we are conditioned to think that most companies will take advantage of our situations and rip us off the first chance they can. After we had made an appointment for G & H to come to our house and fix the dryer, I was still nervous. As soon as we spent 2 minutes with Woody from G & H, we were feeling pretty good about making the right choice. His knowledge of the appliance, preparedness, kind disposition and helpful tips were truly refreshing. Woody had everything in working order within 30 minutes! Woody is a rockstar!

The entire experience was good even though we needed to buy a new washer.
