He demonstrated the different types of doors and motorized lifts from a large truck outfitted with working samples of doors available for installation.. He took his time and explained the workings nad values of each type of door and really helped us in the decision process to select our new door. He is very personable and we actually enjoyed the presaentation. The job was done about a week later when our new door arrived at his facility. His servicemen installed the new door and power lift in just an afternoon and took away our old slab door at no extra charge. They charged exactly what the estimate had been. I was completely satisfied with the experience and knowledge with everyone from Pioneer Door. I would recommend them highly and would not hesitate to use then again.

 + -1 moreAlan Hill showed up at our house at the appointed time. He asked us to go out into the driveway to his truck which was parked there. Within his truck were lots of sample doors, other hardware and literature. He described the available options for the doors, trim, tracks, and motor to us and showed us the appropriate literature and/or samples. We had previously interviewed another company and there was no comparison in the presentation. Alan was incredibly organized and we were impressed. His price was just slightly higher than the other company and it seemed to be a better product - thicker gauge steel and better track. There was a month delay installing the doors because I chose a model that had to be specially ordered. His workers showed up on schedule and removed the old doors and installed the new ones within a day. They also pointed out some 2x4s in our garage that needed to be replaced that had been missed in a recent rebuild of the garage. They were very thorough. The doors have worked flawlessly for the last 2 1/2 months and we are happy with our project.
Description of Work: Pioneer Door removed two old aluminum tilt-up garage doors and replaced them with two roll-up steel doors. They also moved our single motor to one side of the garage and installed a second one for the other door.

 + -1 moreA car was accidentally backed into the garage door, bending the door and breaking a hinge. Pioneer Door had installed our garage door opener in July 2011, and we were very happy with them, so I called them to repair the door. The person who answered the phone looked us up almost instantaneously and knew exactly what type of door we had. She explained that since our door (a Stanley) was no longer manufactured, they would not be able to buy replacement panels if they were needed, so we might be looking at a new garage door, but the technician would see if it was repairable. They offered to schedule us the next day, but I couldn't be home at the time they could come, so we scheduled for first thing the morning the following business day. The technician arrived early -- he called from about 10 minutes away to let me know when he would be there. He took a look at the door, and said, "Oh, that's not so bad." He explained that he would just need to replace the hinge and make some adjustments. He asked if I had received a quote, and I said I hadn't because we weren't sure what would be involved. He then explained that it would $5 for one new hinge + $95 for the service call and labor. I told him to go ahead, and he was done in almost no time. When I commented on how quick he was, he explained that he had 15 years of experience. When he was done, the garage door operated very smoothly, and I was very pleased that he was able to fix it so we didn't have to replace the door. As with my first experience, I was very impressed with the competence and professionalism with everyone I dealt with at Pioneer Door.
Description of Work: Replaced garage door hinge, straightened panels, oiled hinges and rollers, and checked balance of door.

 + -1 moreOur old garage door opener quit working, and after receiving unsatisfactory service from a couple of nearby companies, we contacted Pioneer Door because they were highly rated on Angie's list. They were able to tell us on the phone that the manufacturer of the old opener (Stanley) was no longer in business, and that while the technician would see if our opener was repairable, it was likely we would have to replace it. They gave us a quote for a new Marantec opener, which was much lower than the quotes from the other companies. The phone service was very friendly and professional, and they set up an appointment within a couple of days. The technician arrived right on time, and when he looked at the old opener, he said, "Oh, I know that model. It has plastic gears inside, and I bet they've broken". I watched him open it up, and sure enough, the gears had broken and there were little plastic bits all over. There was no way to replace the gears, so they installed the new opener, including the laser safety sensors (which we hadn't had before), made sure everything was properly aligned and worked smoothly, and went over the operation with me. I was very impressed with the professionalism and competence of everyone I dealt with.

She even provided an estimate/ballpark of how much the charge would have been based on the description of what I had explained. Not a lot of companies are willing to do this. We scheduled a service tech to be onsite between 8-10 and what happened, they actually arrived on time around 8:00! Try this w/ any other company especially the cable company. Once the service tech arrived the garage door was working fine it seems there may have been some debris causing the door to come off track. In summary I have received great customer service and would highly recommend Pioneer Door Inc.

We met with him at his office where he took us step by step through the process of creating a modern sectional door. He patiently and thoroughly answered our many questions. It became clear that he takes great pride in the quality of his product and that customer satisfaction is important to him. We showed him some reference photos of vintage garage doors and discussed how this look could be achieved with a modern door. Unlike others vendors we had approached, Alan was neither confused nor doubtful. We quickly received a quote and after a follow up at our home with our general contractor, we gave Alan the job. While the other work proceeded, Alan made sure to keep in contact so that the garage door installation would happen at the right point in the overall renovation project. The day of the install went very smoothly. The Pioneer Crew were professional and thorough.They made sure that we understood everything we needed to know about or new door and opener. When we discovered that we needed a couple tweaks, they were back out very quickly and re-explained everything again, just for good measure. We couldn?t be more pleased with how the door turned out. Pioneer Door is one of the best companies of any kind that we have ever worked with in 15 years of home ownership. We recommend them without hesitation.

 + 0 moreOne day, the garage door springs just broke! So, after checking Angie's List, we decided on Pioneer Doors. They were quick, professional and honest. We couldn't be happier -- and we got a good warranty on the springs. They honored a higher quoted discount for us too -- the intake person gave us a quote, the technician who did the work gave us a lesser quote. It was an honest miscommunication, and they gave us the better discount. How terrific is that?
Description of Work: Pioneer replaced broken springs on my garage door. (I don't have the exact date, but it was in April of 2013.)

 + -1 moreI called Piorneer Door and made an appointment, after having a very bad experience with another company; this other company told me, among other things, that I needed a new garage door opener. Alan, the owner Pioneer Door Inc., arrived on time and was very professional. He examined my garage door and quickly told me what he thought I needed and didn't need. He gave me a few options and a price for each option, told me what was critical to fix/change and what was not. He convinced me that I did not need a new garage door opener and he told me why. I felt that he was being very up front and was not trying to sell me things I did not need!!! He showed me samples of the door in his mobile office truck. I signed a contract and scheduled the installation. Their installers were on time, they let me know what they were doing and how long it would take. They finished on time, cleaning up completely. If ever I need a new garage door I will definitely contact Pioneer. I cannot recommend them enough. Afterwards I was talking with a friend and telling him that I had just had my garage door replaced. Before I could tell him my story, he immediately started telling me about his 'garage door guy' and what a great experience he had and that I should have asked him. So, I asked who was his 'garage door guy'. He said, "Alan from Pioneer."
Description of Work: I needed a new garage door: the current one was 15 years old, cracked, and constantly coming off the its tracks. I also thought I had to get a new garage door opener.

 + -1 moreIf you're looking for a good company, good prices, and a trouble-free purchase/process, I would highly recommend Pioneer.
Description of Work: I had a standard garage sized door that I wanted to replace with a roll up door in San Gabriel, CA. Called and scheduled a free estimate with Kim who is professional and personable. Day of the estimate, Kim called to give me an ETA on the rep's arrival. Alan (Kim's husband and owner) showed up and did his measurements and checked for possible install issues (i.e. supports, clearance, garage header sag, power source, etc). Alan is just as personable as his wife, and he won't try to sales pitch you. The best part was being able to see the garage doors and openers operate in his mobile truck. Its a large truck where you can see how things work, bang on the garage door material, hear the difference between an insulated and non-insulated door, see/hear the difference in garage door openers, and get an overall sense of the quality that you're paying for. Pioneer and On Trac (Costco garage door contractor) use the same garage door and opener manufacturers (Amarr and Marantec). I asked for the bells and whistles, but Alan recommended that I save my money, and offered suggestions. Even going as far as to ask me what kind of cars I had that would allow me to program into my car's computer. After purchasing, I was contacted right away to set up an install day/time. I opted for a Saturday, which kept me from taking a day off of work, and took about 4 hours for Ryan to install. I purchased the Classic 2000 series (other options were 1000 and 3000 series) with long panels and no windows. The Classic 2000 also includes insulation and vinyl backing (side that faces inside of the garage). I also purchased the Marantec 4900e, which is ultra quiet. Garage install when smoothly and the operation of the garage is even smoother. After the install, Ryan walked me through on how to operate everything, maintenance advice on how to maintain the longevity of my door, and troubleshoot common problems people run into.

We purchased a garage door and operator for our property many years ago and were so satisfied with the experience that we did not hestitate to call them again. Our next interaction came a few years ago when my mother needed to replace her garage door and operator. Once again, the experience was a good one. Calling Pioneer Door to replace the garage door and operator on our rental property was a no-brainer. From the minute they drive up in their mobile showroom to the minute the are finished explaining the newly installed unit, Pioneer Door is professional and dependable. The product is excellent and we look forward to many worry-free years of operation.

 + -1 moreThe rollers on my garage door broke off. I called Pioneer, and they gave me an appointment for two days later. The worker called 15 minutes before the start of the arrival window to say he was on his way, and he arrived right at the beginning of the appointment window. He immediately identified the problem, and was able to replace the parts quickly and efficiently. Not only did he make sure everything was working well (oiling the tracks, tightening the wires, etc), he also checked and performed maintenance on the other garage door of my two-car garage, which had been working fine but now runs much smoother than before. He was very professional and I would gladly call Pioneer Door again.

 + -1 moreIt went GREAT! Both guys worked very hard to find the right solution to my problem. They first tried to use double springs (I believe at the request of my brother who oversaw the installation), then went to their truck to get two single heavy-duty springs that worked best for my particular door. They balanced the door perfectly and lubricated all hardware, including the rail that extends to the garage door opener. When my concern over the age of the door's hardware was brought up and whether I should get it replaced or not, they said I could do that in the future if I would like, but that it was fine for now. My brother, who is very hard to please and a licensed contractor, was so impressed by these guys that he says he would like to hire them as well! They were very professional, very knowledgable, and were not satisfied until they got everything as perfect as possible. I HIGHLY recommend this company. It's so nice to hire people that actually care about their work and take great pride in what they do!

 + -1 moreFrom the very first phone call to the installation of the garage door and opener, this was a highly professional company. An appointment was made and Alan even showed up a bit earlier. He brought his van/truck which shows all the options for garage doors and openers. You can actually see it in operation which makes a huge difference. After having received 3 additional estimates from 2 brand names companies, I knew right away that Pioneer would be the perfect choice. Once I made my selection of a steel door with insulation and the Marantec opener, we were ready to make an installation appointment for a week later. Nate and Ryan did an excellent job with the installation. They called before and showed up right on time. They worked quickly and efficiently and made sure everything was perfect. I couldn't be happier and highly recommend Pioneer.

 + -1 moreWe were having trouble with our roll up garage doors so we selected Pioneer Door Inc from Angie's List and called them on 12/28/12. The office staff was very helpful and efficient, and we scheduled an appointment for 12/31/12 and were told that a service technician would arrive between 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM, but would call before arriving. Sergio called at 8:01 AM and arrived very shortly afterward. He was very professional and friendly. He told us basically what he planned to do and then got right to work. After the general maintenance, both doors worked better than they ever had. Sergio explained the reasons for our problems, and he also took the time to educate us on proper garage door maintenance. Our payment for service included a $10 deduction for the coupon I printed from Angie's List. We were extremely pleased with our experience with Pioneer Door Inc, and Sergio!

They took their time and offered several options and prices. We placed our order with them and scheduled the installation.
