Arrow Garage Door

Garage door would not open. Found Arrow from Angies List and called the person. He could come over right away. The person immediately showed me the broken spring and recommended replacing both. He answered all my questions, and did the work nicely. He honored the Angies List discount. It was an excellent experience.

When a spring broke on my garage door, I called Doug to come and replace it. We made an appointment for later the same day, but it turned out that the person from a previous appointment had a lot more work that needed to be done than he had told Doug about, so he had to reschedule for the next day. When he came, he replaced the spring, but recommended that we replace the other one too. Replacing one spring was going to be $185 or two for $225. I made a hasty decision to just replace the broken one. Just one week later, the second one broke. We made another same-day appointment and he came and replaced the second spring. I forgot to use my Angie's list coupon the first time, so he doubled it the second time, which was very nice. I ended up paying more than I should have, but it was my own fault!

Doug came and fixed the door really quickly at very reasonable cost. He offers one-year warranty on his service. He came back twice when my door quit working again and he fixed it for free. I would definitely recommend Doug to everybody I know.

Excellent. Another competitor listed here on Angie's wanted to change the entire mechanism for double the price. So I called at noon & Doug answered right away. His quote sounded right & he made the appt for 6pm that nite. He called later to say he'd be late b'coz of traffic; showed up @ 7pm & got to work right away. Gave us a discount as well as a 1st time customer. Excellent service & right on the money!

Doug showed up early in the morning at the agreed time. He was very friendly and had a very positive attitude (maybe he had a good breakfast). He went to work right away, and seemed to know exactly where everything is. The repair work took about 30 - 45 minutes. In addition to replacing the springs, he also showed me how to reset the remote control, and adjust the security stop at the base of the door in case it goes misalign (my first time owning an automatic garage door). My garage door opener had been making a lot of noise and finally quit working. I purchased a new garage door opener and was going to install it myself when I realized that part of the problem was that the garage door wasn't properly balanced. It's a very large and heavy door with large extension springs so I didn't want to work on it myself. I was considering replacing the entire door with a new door and called Doug to take a look. When he arrived he determined that he could fix the existing opener (which he said was actually better than the new one I had purchased) and that he could balance the door. He advised against replacing the door because it would be very costly (it's a non-standard size). So instead of spending $1000's I spent $200 and have a perfectly working garage door. Best of all, I called Doug at 8:30AM and he completed the job before noon. I highly recommend Doug for his honesty, professionalism, and responsiveness.

I contacted Doug after checking the reviews on Angie's list and he was very professional. He is a good communicator and I didn't have to spend any time explaining the problem to him. He scheduled an appointment according to our convenience and he was punctual. He finished the work much faster than we had expected and he made sure that we didn't get bothered by noises or unnecessary foot traffic. The service exceeded our expectations. I'd highly recommend Doug.

The range on my remotes for the garage door was heavily reduced one week, and it wasn't due to batteries. I called Doug in the late morning to see what could be done, and he gave me some tips over the phone to try without cost and gave me a rough estimate for how much it would be. I tried out the tips to no avail and called him back. He suggested replacing the receiver board and even gave me information to do it myself but since it had been a while since the garage door had been serviced and it was in need of a tuning in addition to the opening problem, I asked him to come by to take a look at it. He set an appointment for the same day (3 hours later) and arrived on time. He tried a few things with the opener and came to the conclusion the receiver board (the part with the antenna) needed replacing and not the whole opener unit. He wired it up, tested it, and programmed three remotes per my request. He then gave the door and opening unit a once-over and lubricated a few things and adjusted some of the wheels and the track itself. Now I can operate the door at a much greater distance, and the old receiver was a dip-switch code style board and the new one is a "rolling code" board which has a higher security level from what I understand. Also, the door operates MUCH better than it ever has and is so quiet I barely heard it in the house while he was testing it. Doug was extremely professional and quick. He was also very personable and it was very gracious of him to offer all the advice he had upfront since there really was nothing in it for him up to that point. The cost for labor is very reasonable given the parts required.

Doug answered his phone when I called him and immediately scheduled an appointment for a couple days later to give an estimate. He showed up for the estimate exactly on time and made a recommendation of a door and opener without trying to sell me the most expensive items on the brochure. He worked around my difficult schedule, showing up exactly when we agreed. He is very personable but does not waste time. He got straight to work and 4 hours or so later, we had a beautiful new roll-up garage door and opener. Our old lift-up garage door was taken away and there was no mess left for me to clean up. Doug is great to work with, told me exactly what to expect and did a quality job on the installation.

Showed up on time for the estimate, walked me through the alternatives. He did try to upsell me on the more expensive doors, but he was very honest about the real differences--mostly insulation, which turned out not to be important to me. He showed up on time and installed the door professionally, modifying and re-attaching the original opener to the new door. The new door takes up more space than the old door when rolled up, so Doug got creative about how to adjust the installation to accommodate other immovable items in my garage.

I felt that he was very nice and honest with me. He gave me a quote for a new door and answered all of my questions to my satisfaction. He also arrived within the 1 hour timeframe he gave me. A+++

Thursday afternoon, April 1, 2009, my ancient garage door opener expired in a large cloud of black smoke. I checked Angie's List and called Doug Clark of Arrow Garage Door to get an estimate. He arrived at my house approximately 15 minutes after we had our initial phone contact and examined the failed door opener. My wife and I already knew the opener and the garage door were at the end of their useful lives, so I decided to replace with an all new system rather than patch the 30+ year old existing equipment. Doug looked at what we had in place, walked me through the replacement options, explained the pros and cons of each option and made solid suggestions and recommendations along the way. He did a great job of scoping out the job, listened to my questions and my wife's questions, observed and remembered details, and paid attention. He made sure my wife was engaged in the decision process. We settled on a door style, color and window style. He priced the pieces for us, told us he could do the installation in approximately four hours, and said that the installation could start at 9 AM Tuesday of the next week. On Tuesday, he was there a few minutes early and set to work. The removal of the old door and opener went smoothly; the new door went in like a dream. (He works cleanly and efficiently.) As he worked, he cleared away all the old materials and packing materials from the new system for proper disposal. He did multiple checks to make sure that the new door and opener were working correctly, that the door sealed well when down, and was up all the way when up. He did a complete wipe-down inside and outside with a cleaner and rags to make sure the door was clean, then he looked for and used a matching paint color to touch up any paint glitches he spotted. When he was satisfied with the installation, finished cleaning up the site, and then he walked me through the operational features. He was prompt, responsive, on budget (dollar cost and installation duration--four hours) and professional in all respects.

It was ok. I paid a little more than I could have, I think (based on another company). He also fixed the track. I would check prices before going with them again.

He fixed two doors; one a very simple fix that Doug saw and fixed immediately. The other door, seen by two others before him, needed a lot of work and again, Doug fixed it correctly.

Called Doug at Arrow Garage Door on a Saturday afternnoon, was told he would be able to arrive in about an hour. He arrived right on time, and replaced two springs, one broken and other 11 years old which should be replaced. Doug fixed all in 20 minutes. Doug was very prompt and efficient, and the price was reasonable. I would call him again and recommmend him to friends.

I had them come out to fix my door after another garage door company failed to fix it. They were excellent, very skilled and professional.

Doug said he would arrive between 4 and 5. He arrived a couple minutes before 4 and had the torsion springs replaced within half an hour. He was nice and totally professional.

Doug's assistant arrived first. Doug came with the garage door. They disassembled the old garage door and hauled it away to make room for the new garage door. It took a couple of hours to do just as they promised. Then they assembled the new garage door. They cleaned up after themselves, which is important to me. Do, have enough room in your garage for installation. They need room to assemble the garage door panels.

He gave me an estimate on the phone, but the problem was less than he thought so he charged less. He quickly repaired the problem, did maintenance on the door and was in and out in half an hour, one day after I called.

Doug assessed the problem, said it was easily fixable and set to work while I went back inside the house. Ten minutes later, I heard the garage door lift motor being activated several times from the garage wall switch, followed by a knock at the door and Doug's report that it was all taken care of. He then presented me with a bill for $40. I mentioned we planned to upgrade to a more modern door in a year or two and he retrieved a large picture catalog from his truck and gave it to me, telling the me the general price range of the parts and labor for the doors in the catalog.

A few days ago, my 7-year old was jump roping in the garage and her jump rope caught on the garage door release, releasing the door from the opener. My 3 year old was standing right in the path of the garage door, which came crashing down. I was sitting on the step at the far end of the garage and was helpless to stop the door, but yelled for her to get out of the way. Fortunately, she managed to run out of the way before the door came down on her and everyone escaped uninjured. I was about to call the contractor who replaced the garage door springs 8 years ago to have them come and tension them, but decided to check Angie's List first. The other company is listed, but had a B rating and only a few reports, so I decided to try someone at the top of the list. I requested an appointment (a 1-hour window) for the afternoon after I called as that was the time that worked best for me. Doug was happy to come during that time and even showed up a little early. He said that one of my two springs was several sizes too small, but he was still able to safely add some tension to both to get the correct balance. He even lubed the rollers, hinges, springs, and the opener screw-drive. Thanks again, Doug! Now my family can feel safe again.

A good experience: Called several providers found here on Angie's List, and Doug's bid was reasonable(not the lowest, but close). He came on a Saturday to give the estimate. A week later, the door arrived from the factory and Doug brought the new door over. He spent about 4 hours removing the old door and installing the new door. The old door had two ventilation slots, so Doug installed new vents on the side wall of the garage. When all was done, the new door worked very nicely, and Doug hauled away the old stuff plus some other junk that I asked him to dump for me. It's been several months now, and there have been no problem with the new door and the new opener.

The best thing about our experience was the customer service. Doug answered his phone, even on a Sunday and came out the same evening to replace our springs. We were worried that we could not go to work Monday morning, and even though Sunday is his day off, he alleviated our fears, especially since we called more than five other companies and did not get an answer.
