I have used them since 1978. They have done 3 homes and 2 of my rental units. Would use them again as my first choice. Never had a bad install and always use the top of the line DuPont products. Never a pushy sales experience and installation teams does the little things that others do not. My places always look great when done.

Went to this wherehouse to get carpet. Limited budget. Every item i needed done was almost $1000 worth, but when i decide to do the work myself such remove carpet or base board, they reduce it to only measly $200. On top of that "Mike" who processed my deposit over the phone mentioned they dont keep credit card numbers so evertime i call in i need to provide the card number, but when i made my final payment on another card that didnt go thru, i called back to correct it, he tells me "it's ok, we ended up charging to first card", which i gave them just a few days before. Day of installation, Team leader decides he needed to do a Number #2 in my restroom before starting work. When done, i decided to give them a tip, only to see that he pocketed the whole thing. Dishonest, and unprofessional. They will respond in kind to my review, and say otherwise. But unfortunately, facts are facts, you will never get another business request from me nor my colleagues.

Normally most installs do not include baseboard removal as we run carpet under existing baseboards when present. Also included in our every day low price is free carpet removal of existing carpet and haul away. I am sorry you did not feel it was fair that we did not discount these items enough to your liking but in reality we don't even charge for them in the first place. Also I apologize you felt the installer was being dishonest when pocketing a tip you gave him. Most times they split tips back in store or at end of day when they drop their helpers off so I cant speak to this effect but I know our installers are hard working individuals who do their best day in and day out and they are very thankful for a tip for a job well done which I assume it was if you left them a tip. We replaced carpet and padding on our 2nd floor. I was dealing with Sal, great guy! I got three quotes, Sterling was the best, I asked them to send out their A team. The crew was great, I painted after the carpet was installed as I expected scuffs on the walls and new baseboards. I only asked them to be careful at the start of the job, the installers were great and there was not damage, I did all the demo and removal of the old carpet so I can't comment on that part but our new Mohawk smartstrand and smart cushion padding is great. They worked with us to come back a month later to finish the carpet around the new wood staircase we had installed after the carpet was put in. Same installer came out and did a great job, I think his name is Aurelio, great guy! I am very particular and OCD about my home and I would recommend Sterling Carpet to everybody. (Sal and Aurelio in particular).

I love my carpet company. They were very helpful in the shop with selecting the carpet. They found a remnant that was big enough for me to use, which saved me a lot of money. When I asked that the carpet be installed a couple of days earlier than originally scheduled they were glad to accommodate me. Lupe was the salesman who helped me choose a carpet that was both handsome and very practical. We have several cats that bring in debris from the back yard and needed a carpet that would be easy to clean and dark enough not to show every leaf or ?? that would require immediate attention. He was easy to work with and provided helpful information. Both the person who measured for the carpet and the two workmen who installed it arrived promptly as scheduled. The gentleman who did the measuring worked quickly and told me Sterling would call me with the price. The men who did the installation also worked quickly and did an excellent job. I am very pleased with the choice of carpet and the workmanship of the installers. However, for some reason, one of the installers came to me an hour or so after they arrived and told me he had to leave to take care of something. That meant that one person was doing the installation by himself. After a couple of hours, I called Sterling and spoke with the person who does the scheduling. He told me that there should always be at least two men on site to do an installation. The man who left return shortly after my call to Sterling. He immediately went to work and the rest of the project went well. But, because of the situation, they did not finish the job until quite late. Just after they finished, the man who had been gone for a couple of hours told me that he was sent to deal with an dissatisfied customer who had a problem that needed immediate attention. One would think that such problems would be dealt with by someone in customer service or management. I have used Sterling carpet before and would definately hire them again, but I would ensure that no on leave until the job was completed.

First, the sales person working on Sunday was great. He did a great job helping us pick the carpet we liked and made the sale easy. It went downhill from there. The crew of 2 showed up late and made a huge stink with our painters fighting over who gets to use our driveway. While pulling up carpet, they used some scraping tools to pull up old tacks. They also pulled up and loosened screws holding down the floorboards, upstairs. I asked the crew to stop and re-secure the floor boards. They refused, and quot;We don't do that.and quot; I told them I had to leave and fully expected them to do so, or stop installing the carpet, pick up and leave. When I got back, I noticed they did a horrible job on the stairs and loft, making poor, uneven pulls over the edges. They even cut into the carpet along the edge of the walls and placed pieces of carpet (unsecured) in the holes they left. I had them spend another hour fixing their mistakes before they and quot;had to leaveand quot; without satisfactorily completing the job. I called the salesperson that day, who took a message for the manager. The manager came out to our house and met with my wife. She showed him the issues and promised to have the crew out again to fix their mistakes. When the crew came out, they had no idea what the were there to do. I just found another section along a wall where there is a flap of carpet because of the poor installation. Our floors still squeak horribly. Do yourself a favor and don't buy from Sterling Carpet. The company has a huge issue of just not caring. If they did care, the manager would have personally inspected the entire job when he was at our house and shown up with the crew to show them where the fixes were needed. Lastly, there has been zero follow-up from Sterling.

Purchased carpet from Sterling when our home was originally built in 2001, so when it was time for replacement they were the natural choice. Especially since our prior experience went smoothy and we felt their prices were fairly reasonable. Really related to my salesman, Mike Moreno who was excellent and responsive to all inquiries. Was not too impressed by the fellow who came for measurements as I made a special effort to be home and he was almost an hour late ...... twice. Eventually made my selections and orders were placed, unfortunately there were several weeks delay in delivery. So my delivery date comes and goes and nothing from Sterling, so I place a call and come to find out that my salesman had "retired" and no one had bothered to call and notify me of this fact or that my carpet was all in and ready for delivery. Having said that an appointment was made for the installation and the delivery guys are an hour and a half late so I followed up with a call and and was told they would be there "any minute", so another hour goes by and I call again only to be told this time they are in a huge traffic jam and it would be another 1/2 hour (don't know why I wasn't told this when I originally called two and 1/2 hours earlier). I understand traffic in southern California happens, but a phone call would have been appropriate and appreciated to give us the opportunity to accomplish other tasks instead of waiting for the door bell to ring The installation team eventually did a decent job, however repeatedly ignored requests by my husband to allow us time to clean and vacumn the sub-floor which should have been done 11 years earlier (apparently making sure the floor is clean of dirt and debris prior to laying carpet is NOT part of their job). Well they finally finish 12 hours later and then "spring" it on us that they didn't have enough material to finish to master closet.......sigh. So more carpet is ordered and another appointment is made for installation...... and again the crew is 1/2 to 1 hour late (of course I have taken time off work...... again! ) Basically it is the same crew as before but there is a new guy who is apparently "in charge". I give him the same talk about giving me time to clean the floor and I make a two minute phone call and they are already dragging in the new carpet and starting to put it put it down. Again, I get the crew leader's attention and tell him I want to vacuum and he tells me he already did it. So I look down and they are putting my brand new carpet down on a 11 year old pad. I guess he really didn't vacuum the sub-floor after all! When I questioned him as to why he wasn't putting down a new pad (which had already been paid for), he assured my that my pad was "top of the line"..... even though it is going on 12 years and is a bit "crunchy" around the edges. I said that I was expecting a new pad and this his reply is that he wasn't given a new pad for my installation. .... what the heck!!!! Just disappointed by the lack of professionalism and craftsmanship from this organization and in retrospect don't know if their decent prices were worth the hassle.

Sterling Carpet What a great experience! We chose Sterling Carpet based on three factors: the reviews on Angie's List, they had our carpet selection in stock and they could install it within 2 days as we were also painting and needed the two projects to coincide. The selection and contract process took under an hour and Jamie was very helpful. They do not go out and measure if the turnaround time is that short as it is too difficult to fit it in so we measured ourselves (unfortunately we were off about 100 square feet because we didn't take edges and stretching into account) and the project was ready to go. We were told that the crew would be here at 9:30 and given a list of instructions to follow for getting ready. We were informed that our stairs would cost $10 per stair and that moving furniture was a flat $40 no matter how many large objects they had to move (they do ask that you remove the smaller items yourself). Both of those issues were factors when selecting a contractor to do carpeting. We wanted a light print in a brown short strand with great stain protection and they had that in stock. In addition, we needed upgraded padding to support my joints from fibromyalgia. Jamie included the upgraded padding without charge so we got 8 lb memory foam padding, high-end Stain Master carpet and installation for $3.10 per square foot. We needed a total of 600 square feet. The day came and they were more than on time, they were an hour early. Even though we weren't quite ready yet, they set up in the garage as we finished and they happily moved some of the smaller pieces of furniture we hadn't had time to move yet. Our house is relatively small and we have a lot of stuff and furniture squeezed into it, making their job difficult. But they were wonderful, endlessly moving pieces side to side to roll out the carpeting. Never taking a short cut and placing a seam where it shouldn't be in order to avoid moving something or to make it easier on themselves. They did have to run back to the warehouse to get more carpeting because even though they allowed for some overage, with my measurements being so far off, they didn't have enough, but they worked swiftly, quietly and constantly. No easy feat since the carpeting was being installed on the third level of a three story house. Speaking as someone who has both replaced carpeting before and watched as others have, I must say that Sterling is the neatest of all contractors. They patiently rolled each piece of old carpet and padding into clean rolls that were stacked in our garage instead of being tossed randomly into the alley or filling up the dumpsters. They removed it in rolls when they left. They were also cleaning constantly as they worked, sweeping more thoroughly than Mr. Clean would. Considering the amount of dust left by the deteriorating padding they took away, it was very time consuming. And even though we were told to be prepared to vacuum when the installation was finished, the installers actually did that for us, leaving it much cleaner than expected. As for the quality of the installation itself and ndash; impeccable! Since the carpet included a light print, the seams were very important and as I walk down it, they are invisible. Even knowing they're there, I can't see them. The edging is perfect and the thresholds from carpet to tile are smooth and even. I am amazed that they got it so exactly on given how swiftly they were working. The only issue is that when they were installing the carpet in the bedroom, they crimped the phone line and it no longer works. A shame since we now only have one in the house that does. An inconvenience. But overall, we are very happy. This is the first contractor we've hired that we didn't have to call a thousand times for issue after issue. Everything was done right the first time and we are very happy with the work.

We are in the middle of a partial home remodel and have been using Angie's list to obtain estimates for every service we need. Since Sterling was close to our home, we decided to check out the showroom after getting a ridiculous estimate from a popular carpet/flooring company. It may have been because it was on a Sunday afternoon, but the service was horrible. It seemed like there was only one person working in the huge showroom, which seemed a little unreasonable. When we were finally noticed, Mike was not helpful at all. We were hoping to be asked what our needs were but this didn't happen at all. Basically we were told to find the color we wanted. We ended up getting an estimate anyway since the quality of the carpets was great and the posted prices included installation. (caveat- we only needed carpet for one bedroom so they tack on a minimum $75 labor fee for and quot;small jobsand quot;). After being unsuccessful in finding a better deal, we were ready to purchase and returned to Sterling. Mike was there again but was in a more helpful mood! We put down a small deposit and were told someone would call us on Tuesday to schedule a measure. I was hoping the measure would happen ASAP since it could take 2 weeks to get the carpet! I got a call on Tuesday from a guy whose name I can't remember- he said the only time he could come out was on the same day at 9am; it was 8:20 when he called! I asked him if there was any other time because I was at work and my boyfriend was unavailable. The answer was basically no. He said he would have to call me back the next morning to see what he had available. Very disappointing. I ended up calling Sterling to see if anything could be done about the installer's seemingly limited schedule. Long story short, they were able to get someone to our home later in the afternoon. I got a call from Mike the next day informing me that they actually had the carpet in stock and could install it on Friday. It would have been nice if he looked it up when we ordered it instead of telling us it would take two weeks, but I was glad to have it sooner. Installers came out and did a great job, but then gave us an invoice with an amount $100 over the estimate! I called Sterling and was told our own measurements were apparently way off, so ok. However we ended up with quite a bit of carpet left over that I wish we didn't need to pay for; apparently the rolls come in a certain size so you don't end up paying for exactly what you need. ANOTHER thing I wish we would have been told when we got the estimate.
Description of Work: All in all, just an OK experience but the carpet looks great and the price, although more than we expected was less than anyone else we could find. Next time we'll have a bigger job so we'll avoid the labor fee and will know what to expect! Based on their selection and quality I would recommend Sterling, just don't expect friendly and helpful service.

Stopped by once shortly before store closing (my fault) to quickly browse the selection available. Sales person was not the most friendly and I got the impression they thought I was MUCH younger than I am and perhaps didn't know what I was doing (or was wasting their time?). I scheduled the measurement at that time. We were in the process of purchasing of our house and I was trying to schedule several things during the time when we were having a home inspection so I said something like and quot;yes, that time should workand quot; and the sales person actually said and quot;now, I hope you aren't going to make him wait. Make SURE you are there on timeand quot;. I'm not sure why I didn't just walk out but I didn't. Maybe it was just a bad day and the fact that I came in just before closing didn't help so I decided to give them another chance. Went ahead with the measurement and when I went back again to finalize the carpet selection I had a totally different experience. The sales person (a different person) was very friendly and helpful, didn't pressure me, and answered all my questions. He had several color swatches sent out to me next day. He was excellent! Installation went well I suppose, although the installers did not vacuum the carpet afterward (is this normally done?) and left several marks on my newly painted walls. I'm glad I got back to the house before they were completed because I had to point out a spot on the stairs where there was a 1/2and quot; gap between the carpet and the wall. They fixed it no problem and we haven't had any issues with the carpet so the installation was overall ok. Despite the few issues, I would use them again since after reading many reviews about carpet installation, my few very small issues were nothing compared to what could have been... I was prepared to carefully inspect and insist on any fixes, thanks to many consumer reviews of various carpet places. The prices were reasonable and their selection was excellent. Customer service (after my first encounter) was stellar and I'm very happy with my carpet.

We spent a good amount. They moved the furniture and did the job that they were contracted to do. I shopped around and the pricing was the best that I could find. The work was done the way that we had discussed. We were very satisfied and pleased with the work. The people who came out were the ones the job was contracted to, to come in and lay the carpets. I know that they tried to send the best people available. We will use their services again in the future.
Description of Work: We used Sterling Carpet for re-carpeting. We last used their services in March. We had our house re-carpeted. They completely re-carpeted the areas that needed re-carpeting which is about twenty five hundred square feet of carpeting.

It came out good. They had good customer service in store. Their price was good. They got the carpet on schedule and installed it on schedule. The guys who did the install were on time and there were no issues of any kind. They were good.

They were excellent. We bought this house in 1987 and they did the carpeting then. They also did a couple of times in between and they do a really good job. They do really good quality and have a really good price. Overall the work went pretty good. They had a huge selection and they had really good prices. Their prices included tax and padding. They didn't have any hidden fees. It was exactly what they said. They moved all our furniture and worked quickly. I had a problem and they came back and looked at it. Basically I had one visit there. They did everything and the rest of it was done here. So it was very easy. I would absolutely use their services again in the future.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS ORGANIZATION IS NOT GOOD. THE FIRST SALESPERSON WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEIR LOWER PRICED CARPETS SO I WAS QUOTED A PRICE ALMOST $1000.00 MORE THAN WHAT I EVENTUALLY PAID. I WENT BACK, GOT ANOTHER SALESPERSON WHO WAS WILLING TO WORK WITH ME AND I GOT WHAT I WANTED. THE WORKERS ARRIVED ONE HOUR LATE AND WITHOUT ALL THE NECESSARY SUPPLIES. THEY INSISTED ON DOING THE ENTIRE HOUSE IN ONE DAY. AFTER DOING THE CARPET, THEY WERE SO EXHAUSTED THAT I TOLD THEM TO GO HOME AND RETURN ANOTHER DAY TO DO THE VINYL FLOORING. THEY REFUSED AND CONSEQUENTLY THEY SCRATCHED THE PAINT ON SOME CABINETS, GOUGED HOLES INTO THE KICKBOARDS, LEFT AIR BUBBLES UNDER THE VINYL FLOORING, AND TORE THE FLOORING WHEN THEY PUT THE DRYER BACK. I MADE MANY PHONE CALLS TO THE STORE SPEAKING WITH THE MANAGER OFTEN AND STILL VERY LITTLE HAS BEEN DONE TO CORRECT THE MISTAKES.
Description of Work: INSTALLED WALL TO WALL CARPETING IN THREE BEDROOMS, HALLWAY, ENTRY WAY, AND LIVING ROOM. INSTALLED SHEET VINYL IN KITCHEN, DINING AREA, AND SERVICE AREA OVER OLD VINYL, AND PUT A QUART AROUND ON ALL THE EDGES. THEY MOVED THE HEAVY FURNITURE OUTSIDE AND RETURNED IT AFTER INSTALLATION. ALL DONE TO PREPARE THE HOUSE FOR SALE.

THE INSTALLATION OF THE LAMINATE FLOOR AND CARPET WAS DONE WELL. WE HAD PROBLEMS WITH THE BUSINESS HONORING THEIR QUOTE WHEN THE SALESMAN WHO SOLD US THE CARPET GOT SICK. EVIDENTLY HE UNDERBID THE JOB AND DID NOT SEND OUR PAPERWORK IN. LUCKILY WE HAD A COPY OF THE BID, BUT THE REPLACEMENT SALESMAN WAS NOT EASY TO WORK WITH BECAUSE HE RECEIVED, SUPPOSEDLY NO COMMISSION OFF THE JOB.
