Sam's Garage Doors

Got Angie deal, saved a bundle. I have used this company multiple times (on different projects) and they have been super each time. Responsive, communicative and did it right. Really good company.

Long story short, garage motor was working fine. Garage can open/close but the sensors were not working and garage would not pull back. My Home Warranty did not cover the sensors so looked up on Angies List and called Sams Garage. Should be easy replacement. Mark came by and told me I would need to change the motor b/c the sensors connected are not reading...he even connected his tester to the motor to show me no connection in the unit for the sensors. Wanted me to replace the Lift Master motor for $375. I told him if I were to replace the motor I would just call my Home Warranty so I decline and he charged me $65 service call. I called my Home Warranty and they sent their vendor and replaced the sensors and I paid $125. Does it make sense when the garage motor works and only the sensors do not work and technician wants to replace the entire motor??? That is an unnecessary upsell and wasted my time to go back and forth with my Home Warranty and vendors. I'm not sure how their ratings is so high on Angie's List. I told them I found you on Angies List and wouldn't you think I would write a review??? I hope that $65 service charge was worth this review for you guys. Won't recommend, won't refer, won't use ever!

We had a garage door opener that worked kinda. Sam's employee, Diego, came out, fixed the problem (it needed resetting of limits), but told me that it appeared that the logic board was near the end of its life. He suggested a new opener. We talked for a while, and he got the right opener--a Liftmaster 8850 with battery back up and rolling code--installed. Tenant is happy, I'm happy, and the price was super for what I got. By the way, I understand battery backup may become the law in California soon.

Very professional...slight adjustments to my garage door were need. Technician went out of his way to make sure we were satisfied with the service performed.

Great! They were punctual and friendly.

The person initially just sprayed the silicon on the hinges of the garage door and did it in about 5 minutes. It seemed that he simply wanted to have a quick stop by going to the next job. He wouldn't even check door balance and auto reverse if I didn't ask him about it. I have used other company for garage tune-up. They spend more than 25 minutes. If a garage tune-up is simply just spraying the silicon lubricant, I wouldn't have used them to do it.

Excellent. Mike was wonderful !! He did a full inspection, tightened everything up, balanced the door, and lined everything. Every once in a while, my door makes this really loud "snap" noise when going up. It has done it for years. It actually DID IT when Mike was there. I asked "what was that ?" and it said "it's just this garage door, and even more so with this opener. You will here that on occasion and its harmless, not to worry." He went on to show me exactly what it was, and told me that my door was fine and would last for many more years !!! Thank you, Mike and Sam's Garage Doors for your complete honesty and great service. I will always call you going forward. Highly recommend this company. Thank you !!

Very good. They showed up on time and they were very professional about our needs and did not try to upsell me on anything.

The technician did the work, but when I asked him for help with our opener (it's loud) he instantly said the motor is shot and we need a replacement for $600. That's crazy for a garage door opener IMO.

Called and made an appointment for Saturday. Someone was to arrive between 12--4pm but NO ONE came or CALLED to let me know they were not coming. Show some common courtesy to your customers.

Jesse did a terrific job. He tested the door for various checks, explained what needed to be done, and walked me thru each step. He was extremely thorough and clean. He help me change out the light bulb in the motor and lube my locks on my gate. Jesse went the extra mile.

This is the second time I have used Sam's doors for a simple maintenance and checkup of my garage door. This particular technician was not as thorough and did not do as much as the previous time. He seemed more interested in selling me a new door, than maintaining my existing one. He went through the motions, but it felt pretty cursory. The prior visit was a much better experience.

I was having trouble with the opener not operating properly during cold weather. For instance, early in the morning, the opener would stall when trying to close the door. The technician said that the reason was due to a cold circuit board, because the opener was not insulated, and I would have to buy a new insulated type for $500. I later did some research and discovered that a lot of people have this same issue, but could find no mention of a cold circuit board as being the cause. Instead, I discovered that all it needed was a minor torque adjustment that I could do myself, which I did, and it solved the problem immediately. The tech didn't even bother to look at the opener. All he did was spray some lubricant on the joints, checked the door balance and sensors, and told me I needed to buy a new opener. I don't know whether he was scamming me. All I can say is buyer beware.

The technician did the work promptly and efficiently. He had to come back out to recheck something for me and did no at no charge.

I bought the big deal for a Garage Door tune. Sam’s Garage Doors was great to work with. We needed to reschedule and they were very accommodating. Sometimes when you buy a big deal the contractor comes and try’s to sell you more but this was not the case. They came did a professional job, I will definitely use them again.

Wonderfully perfect. The gentleman even programmed door opener to my car. He was perfect and professional in every way. Very pleasant experience
