David Hudson is a direct reflection of the work that he performs. Dishonest, disrespectful and extremely low quality. It was horrible. It's highly upsetting because I hired David to redo/finish what the last contractor (that did this exact same thing to me) failed to do. I began doing business with David back in May-June 2011. David Hudson never once (yes, never) cleaned up after himself whether he did electrical or any other type of work. He's an unlicensed, unprofessional contractor but claims to be a licensed Master Electrician and can't seem to complete or perform even the simplest tasks. He didn?t get a permit for any of the electric, demo or plumbing that he did. I assume because he?s not certified to do any of the work so he wouldn?t have been granted the permits. Replaced breaker panel- Whatever he did, I now can't watch TV and run the laundry drying machine at the same time or the breaker will pop. He cut a 2'x3' hole in my wall in order to replace the breaker panel but never replaced that piece of drywall. This was about 7 months ago and he still won't complete the work. Install some simple (mini) can lights- He made a couple of unnecessary cuts in my ceiling and left 4, 3" penciled circles on my ceiling due to an error in his measurements. Over 3 months after he installed the lights and I brought it to his attention, he painted over the circles with the wrong color paint. Paint my living room and kitchen- The color he was supposed to use was a peanut butter color and he did an absolutely horrible job. He painted over a piece of tape on the wall, got paint all over my granite counter top, got paint on my grout on the floor and back splash, on my new kitchen cabinets, painted over electrical outlets and all over a piece of white painted trim. I've asked him several times to fix this stuff and he just won't. Remodel Bathroom- He installed a wall, and door and door frame, laid tile and installed drywall/taping. All of this, even the simplest tasks were done highly incorrectly and not to any construction codes. He started to build my shower but after going on 3 months of getting close to nothing done, I started to inspect the little work he did. He poured only 1/4" of concrete directly on top of the membrane (that he drilled screws into ranging from from 1/4"-6" from the bottom of the shower membrane (water would instantly saturate that). That was the only concrete that he poured in the shower. Before he let even that little bit of concrete dry he started laying the shower tile on the floor. The drain was above the entire floor so there was no way that water would drain. The mortar he used for the shower tile (yes, the floor of the shower) clearly said on the container, do not use in wet areas, especially showers or bathtubs. He even mounted the cement board on the wall backwards. The sad part is that the cement board has a big sticker that clearly says, this side out, or something to that effect. After checking with a seasoned tile guy on this matter, I found out that David doesn't know how to lay tile on any surface nor does he understand how it's supposed to be laid. Tile Bathroom Floor- Tile isn't supposed to be laid directly on to wood floor planks, but that's how he insisted on doing it even after i questioned his method. While "working" he damaged a $600.00 bathroom vanity, made holes and dents in my walls and scratched various belongings of mine. Build Pantry- He took a $6.00 (1' length x 2.5' width) shoe rack and a 6 dollar wire shelving rack (that you would commonly find on the back of a bedroom closet door) which was about 3 inches deep x 12" wide. The shoe rack fell off the wall within a matter of weeks so now my entire pantry shelving consist of 1 wire closet rack, which by the way, a large can of tomato sauce will not fit on because even that is too big, and a bunch of Rubbermaid moving bins to store the rest of my pantry items. I had to refasten the wire rack to the wall after about a month, because that too was ripping out of the wall. Paint and Install Doors- He refused to paint them. He hung one without painting it. After clearly discussing that he was to paint and hang the doors, I asked him why he hung the unpainted door and he said, "oh I thought you were going to paint them". He never had the right tools for the job, he often asked to borrow my tools for not only the work that he did for me, but for other jobs. I had to tell him to stop doing my doors because he was butchering the back side of them with a chisel, where the hinges are supposed to go. I had to throw away several doors because he left them outside for so long and the rain damaged them. I live in Yuma, AZ. and it rains, maybe once every 4 months (in the off season, which it was). Install Sink- The sink spray attachment hose was wrapped around several pipes and hoses underneath the sink, so I have about 1.5' of usable slack in the hose. The faucet fixture had over an inch of movement in it because that too was not fastened correctly. Install Dish Washer- The dish washer he installed isn't fastened down properly and hits the top of the counter whenever the door is opened/closed. Paint and Install Stair Railing- He apparently painted it in my back patio because there was paint all over. The railing wasn?t installed correctly. The bolts that fastened it to the wall were not screwed in all of the way and the leg of the railing would loudly vibrate whenever something, anything at all, would hit it. After looking into why the railing would make such a retched noise due to even slight contact, it was because the leg of the railing wasn?t at all fastened to the floor or its? self. It was merely dangling install AC vents- All he had to do was unwrap the new AC vents and screw them to preexisting holes and he couldn?t even do that correctly. Most of them are still in their original package and the ones he did install weren?t screwed in all of the way. I tried for months to settle this with him outside of the Arizona Registrar of Contractors and court systems but he just won't pay up. I didn't expect David, being a local U.S Marine, to conduct himself this way. I went as far as talking to his Command about his actions but he told lies straight to the faces of his superiors so they couldn't do anything for me. By the time I revealed to his Command what was the truth, David was already discharged from the Marine Corps. When I told him that I was going to take legal action, he said that he would sue me for harassment. He paid some of the money that we had settled on and then quickly changed his phone number, stopped answer emails, deleted me from Facebook and then he got out of the Marine Corps. He skipped town and even lied to mutual friends that he got a job in Seattle, WA. I later found out all of that was a lie because I as well as my peers regularly see him around town. He's extremely unprofessionally but will talk a huge game. He even went as far as threatening me, to my wife. He has a history of taking peoples? money and not performing quality, if any work at all. I regretfully referred him to a senior citizen friend of mine and he ripped her off for thousands of dollars also. Unfortunately, it?s clear to me that this is just how David Hudson does business.
