I chose this location to fix an oil leak I had because they were a couple hundred dollars less than the shop I normally went to. I know to be suspicious of really low estimates, but this place is very close to work and I was thinking I might get a new car soon anyway. When they went to get my car for me at the end of the day after performing the requested services, they found out that my transmission wouldn't shift into gear at all. One of their mechanics drove me home since my ride had already left. At the end of the next day, it still wasn't fixed so they set me up with a rental car, but would only pay for one day. So basically I could drive myself home and back and then was without a car for the rest of the day again. When I went to pick up the car, the manager (Barry) offered me a discount on the brake service for my trouble. While I was waiting, I saw an ad for the brake service that was the same price as my discounted one! At the end of it all, at least he gave me a $100 shop credit which I appreciated at the time. I figured I'd just come back for oil changes until the credit ran out or I got a new car, whichever came first. Almost a year later, I took my car back to my original shop to repair a leak in an A/C hose and get an oil change. They called to say they couldn't pull the dipstick out for some reason. Once they looked into it, they discovered that the dipstick was caught between the oil pan and the engine block. It was sticking out few inches out of the tube, and when pushed in all the way, the bottom end was getting hit by the crankshaft, which at some point mangled the end of the dipstick. The worst part was that I'd taken the car into Sun Devil for oil changes twice since then and they never said anything. Either they didn't check the oil level or turned a blind eye. I talked to the Barry at Sun Devil about it. He wasn't a complete jerk, but he was defensive that his mechanic would be that careless. I thought he could have been less so, considering he'd managed to accidentally break the transmission the first time. I think they'd probably try to fix it, but I didn't trust something else wouldn't happen. I've actually used them for several years. Nothing as bad as this one, but there were other times I had to bring my car back the next day for them overlooking something minor or not putting something back right. I haven't heard overwhelmingly positive reviews about any of the other Sun Devil locations, but I'd risk having the warranty work done somewhere else rather than return to this one.
