Inital service in May 08 for duct cleaning work. Technician arrived when he said he would and did requested work. A one year warranty was purchased. Technician wrote on contract per warranty, recheck for mold in 30 days, six months, and nine months. Warranty recheck was completed in June 08 with next check to be completed in December 08, per telephone conversation with company. Called in December for recheck and was told couldn't do recheck until 01/09. Appt was scheduled for 1/5/09, then rescheduled per customer request to 1/19/09. Company was a no-show on 1/19/09 and no one from company called customer to reschedule. Telephone call to company on 1/19/09 at prior number of 1-866-921-3828 (number on contract) and left message to call. Company did not return call. Telephone call on 1/20/09 to number on contract and left another message to call. Company did not return call. Telephone call to company again and spoke with Supervisor named Mike, who rescheduled for 1/28/09. Again company was a no-show and did not call to say they were not coming. I called Mike and was told he didn't have anyone to come out that day -- that his technician was ill and an appointment was made for 1/29/09. On 1/29/09 technician did come to house and completed warranty work. I asked technician why he didn't come yesterday and he told me he was not told I had appointment. He also was not ill yesterday. He gave me a new invoice showing Maximum Air Care -- per technician this is the company's new name. The new telephone number is 1-877-962-9247. Maximum Air Care also has an internet site of www.maximumaircare.com. Back of invoice shows I have to make a complaint in writing, but invoice does not have an address for company. Tech wrote address for me on invoice. I started checking Purely Better Air on the internet (which I should have done prior to hiring) and found they were in Scottsdale, AZ. All appointments are made through Scottsdale. The logo used in the internet advertising for Purely Better Air is from the Indoor Air Quality Association, Inc. I telephoned the Indoor Air Quality Association and found they had not been a member since 2/08. A check with the Phoenix BBB, shows this company has an "F" rating -- one of the reasons is failure to respond to complaints against business. San Diego BBB shows a "B" rating. When I brought this to supervisor Mike's attention, he stated he did not know about the ratings -- but he also did not tell me the business had changed names. He told me Maximum Air Care shares the building with Purely Better Air, but he doesn't know why technician gave me an invoice for Maximum Air Care -- they are two different companies.
