Since April 1st, 1960 JR Perkins Heating and Cooling has been serving greater Scottsdale area all their heating and air needs. We are a family owned and operated company and it all began with Grampa Jack (pic above) and is currently run by his son-in-law Rich Larsen making J.R. Perkins Heating and Cooling the longest family owned and operated HVAC company in the East Valley. DBA- J R Perkins Refrigeration

The last time I used them was at my office in July. They did a fantastic job. Their employees were efficient and they did a good job. They don’t upsell and they fix what needs to be fixed. They make recommendations and I have a service contract with them.

From start to finish they were very professional and knowledgeable. Rich and Matt helped us in deciding which model to get, where it should be located inside the sun room and where the compressor should be placed. When the installers came, they were also very professional and did a great job for us. Rich even helped troubleshoot a problem we were having with our main ac system over the phone and it worked. They are a great company and do all of our service work for our main ac/heat as well. Thanks for keeping us cool.

I would rate them about a three. They did make it right but the installation people were horrible. The workers were instigators, they said that I will kick them off the job which is not true and the communication was terrible. I said to the owner that the communication was terrible. I mean, he says one thing and says another thing. It was just a nightmare. So, the owner made things right. The company and the owner are alright but the installation people were horrible.

Where do I start... JR Perkins installed 2 heat pumps for $12000 in 4/2010. Our old units were 19 years old and required constant attention. Between July 2012 and June 2014, we required 8 service calls due to units not working. After spending another $1500 in service, on the last service, I told the technician I had enough of JR Perkins and would not be calling them again, in spite of having prepaid for the fall service. I never heard anything further from the company, including a reminder call for my fall service, so apparently, the company got the message of my dissatisfaction,

"We are sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction with our service. We apologize. Unfortunately, that particular brand did suffer product malfunctions. The malfunctions to your system occurred after your labor warranty expired. There wasn't anything we can do about the expired warranty. We are truly sorry for this inconvenience. We hope that we can do business with you again soon. Thank you."

After having nothing but problems with JR Perkins - the installer of 2 new heat pumps in 2010, and continuous freon "leak" problems that required 9 service calls due to units not working, I decided to call someone else. Sun Services came out to find out why, for the 10th time, one of my units wasn't cooling. In about 2 minutes, he found a small leak - probably a manufacturing defect that was, by this time out of warranty. He repaired it and i was so happy, I signed a service agreement with Sun Services, in spite of still having an agreement with JR Perkins.
