We took the recommendation of our designer to buy from the local dealer of Shaw carpet products. BUYER BEWARE: the Shaw carpet product we selected is deceptively rated & marketed (looks nice when brand new/no traffic ) and show defectiveness quickly ( less than 12 months) looks cheap and unpresentable. Reference: Ripoffreport.com) After our 2nd attempt to get this issue resolved,Carpet-Rite, the local dealer (eventually) filed a claim w Shaw's in May '13 w a subsequent independent inspection. The laughable "findings" "no premature wear or poor performance of the product"... Minor but normal changes in appearance...is characteristic, unavoidable, and to be expected. No manufacturing related issue found" Ha! What a ripoff of $9000. Our house looks terrible and cheap. The dealer disagrees, says this should be expected. The experience of having Shaw and the dealer respond to our complaints thus far has been a wasted exercise---an exercise (including the warranty) in my opinion that is designed to protect the interest of Shaw and the dealer, certainly not the CUSTOMER. The Dealer blames Shaw ?stating ?you can?t believe their marketing material, specifically the appearance retention rating. If anything it means the exact opposite.? Irregardless, I at least expected that we'd hear an option to get the most affected, defective area replaced. According to the dealer, that was not an option. If we had extra carpet, he would consider "patching'in fresh carpet. Given the performance and lack of any confidence in this particular product, that option is unacceptable.
