I explained above.
Description of Work: Recommendation: I called Always Open Garage Doors, a family owned company here in Scottsdale, in business for 17 years, at 8:30 last night after being exceedingly overcharged by a company that came out yesterday evening to lube my door. Always Open came out today and fixed the problems for me at absolutely no charge. Very educational, very competent, did not try to sell me anything and in fact, when I asked about having a routine lube and oil for the garage door at my other house, was told that not necessary unless the door is not opening properly. Always Open’s Zach showed me how to spray the bolts with a silicon spray and that, he said, should preclude the need for any outside organization doing an oil and lube. Red Alert: I had called Neighborhood Garage Services (the BAD company) to oil and lube my garage door, because someone had told me that that should be done every so many years. When the worker arrived, he claimed that my rollers were bad and the spring was bad, with the first supposedly costing $100 to replace and the second $500. I gullibly accepted the verdict on the rollers, as the door (a Wayne Dalton) is about 6 or 7 years old. First the worker overcharged me adding an additional $60 to the quoted fee - claiming that extra rollers were needed, adding a disposal fee and adding a credit card use fee. When he finished replacing the rollers, the door made a terrible noise when it opened, like two loud snaps. He told me that the spring had broken and both he and his boss (by phone) insisted that the break was spontaneous and repair would be $500. (I should mention that the door had been working fine before I has foolishly had this BAD company come to oil and lube it - preventive maintenance, I thought - was I wrong!) Today, the GOOD company, Always Open, found that the worker from the Red Alert BAD company, Neighborhood Garage Services, had somehow opened some metal fasteners and screwed up the track so that the metal fasteners were clicking on the track when the door was raised. Zach, the owner’s son from the GOOD company, Always Open, fixed the bow in the track, fixed some wires on the electric eye and pounded the fasteners back in place so the door works perfectly now. He did it at no charge, not even a service call charge.
