Description of Work: These guys were great! They were friendly and came right out to fix the problem They came to my work to repair a table and did a wonderful job it looks brand new. Description of Work: I have an old farmhouse table that has been in my family over 100 years. We moved to AZ and the lack of humidity caused the base of the table to split. They repaired the base, refinished the top and 10 leafs and built 3 additional leafs for the table. There was also a gouge in one side of the table and they repaired that so that you can't even find it. The work is beautiful!

Description of Work: Brought in a drawer of a book case that broke a apart due to the glue giving out. Base was fiberboard so that was raggedly broken....I thought it was a hopeless mess. He fixed this so it is better than new and saved me from buying another bookcase...

They were an absolute mess but you could tell how wonderful they would be if you could find someone to properly restore them. They sat for years and I decided to give Gustavo and Manny the opportunity to restore and reupholster them. They delivered them yesterday and I was completely wowed by how incredible they looked, but also by the quality of the craftsmanship. It's unbelievable that these guys are able to perform such magic.
Description of Work: I found 2 of the most wonderful, beat up antique chairs in El Paso about 15 years ago. They were an absolute mess but you could tell how cool they would be if you could find someone to properly restore them. They sat for years and I decided to give Gustavo and Manny the opportunity to restore and reupholster them.

+ -1 more.They came when they said they would. Looked over the cabinet and gave us a price to refinish it. We thought it was a fair quote. they called us with some very exciting news. The cabinet when taken down to the original wood, is Cherry Mahogany. This wood can no longer be used to make furniture. They think it was hand made in the 1920's. They showed us a sample of it stained, which they suggested would really show the beautiful wood grain. We agreed. These folks are very professional and really know their business. I am so glad that we found them in the "Angies List" book. We highly recommend them.
Description of Work: Picking up a large peice, similar to a china cabinet. It had been painted many times, but otherwise seemed in good condition. They were to either stain or repaint it.

+ 2 moreI had this entertainment center form the 80's that was a left to me by my parents. I had this vision to make it a console. I knew I could spend thousands and buy a new piece, but I wanted something with character. Gustavo and Manny basically rebuilt the piece from scratch. I had a lot of fear as to what the finished product was going to look like when it was completed. All I can say is they listened and did an incredibly wonderful job. They worked the same magic on antique dining room chairs and also repaired several pieces of furniture that Bekins had injured during a move. They are old world craftmanship at it's finest. Their prices are reasonable, they are prompt and truly nice guys. Why can't everyone you work with be this wonderful. They are one in a million!

+ -1 moreI contacted Speedy Furniture Repair to see if they could repair couch springs, and Manny responded back quickly that this was something they could do. Manny and Gustavo came out and examined the sofa and love seat, described what would be required for the repair, wrapped up both pieces in plastic to keep them safe, and took them away. Nine days later, they returned with both pieces again safely wrapped in plastic, but now the springs were fixed, covered, and everything both looked and worked great.
Description of Work: Repair a completely broken spring in our main sofa, reinforce the springs in both the sofa and the love seat, install new fabric over the springs.

They knew exactly what needed to be done and took care of it. The drawers both work beautifully again. They even took the time to repair the face of the dresser where the broken track had scratched it. Looks good as new. I'm thankful for the Angie's List Reviews as that is how I made my decision to call them. I will definitely use Speedy Furniture Repair again when I need them. Very nice guys, sorry I don't have the names, they were professionally dressed, clean cut and very friendly. Thank You Speedy Furniture!

+ -1 moreThey spent 5 - 6 weeks repairing a 1 inch tear in a leather seat cushion that I took to them. The initial repair used a small patch on the inside, barely larger than the tear and a still coating on the top. The top coating cracked off while I was holding the cushion. Second attempt used a larger inside patch and more of the stiff coating - better but obviously a patch. They then offered to replace the entire piece of leather to match the rest of the cushion, which they did.They were always polite and kept working until the repair was accomplished. I have no experience with leather repair, fixing a tear may be very difficult. I was satisfied at the end but it took a long time.
Description of Work: Repaired a 1 inch tear in a leather cushion - split cow hide. Finally replaced the leather, 22 inches X 26 inches.

Description of Work: I had two rockers in need of repairs. An adult rocker had the back column that is split, a right column that was unglued from the back of chair. The child's rocker's left leg was broken. Gustavo and Manny were always on time and very informative about what needed to be done. The took extra care in carring the furniture to the truck. . I was amazed at how great the rockers looked. The broken rockers looked brand new. I would deffintly use them again for any furniture repair.

+ 1 moreGood furniture restoration, I think, is a dying art. Not with Gilberto and Manny. Gilberto has had decades of experience and passes that skill to his son. It was a pleasure to work with them. Gilberto is so quick in spotting problems and pointing out how to remedy them. We actually had a lengthy brainstorming session with Gilberto taking the lead. He pointed out various options and in the end I think the best solutions were chosen. Both men are personable, professional and friendly. They were respectful of the wood floors and doorways and took care when moving the pieces in and out. (They took the bed to their workshop and finished exactly when they said they would.) I would use them again if needed. Theyhave a range of skills, including reupholstering.
Description of Work: Gilberto and Manny are father and son repairers extraordinaire. I have two antique pieces that needed help. First is a 1920's French Art Deco burled walnut finish china cabinet. One of the lower doors had separated vertically within the door itself and the exterior was buckling. The guys repaired the cracking (which was deep) and closed the gap, like it was never there. The door looks so much better now. The bigger job was fixing, restoring and constructiing parts for my 1920's French Art Deco bed in burled walnut. The headboard and footboard are curved and the headboard has nightstands attached on each side so the headboard/stands flow like one solid piece. Well, one nightstand was separating from the headboard along the entire seam and had some damage along the top line where the two pieces came together. First the guys had to undo the job someone else did in an attempt to fix the problem (my mistake). They had to make pegs just like the original construction. And they had to fix the topline and match it in so it flowed without looking like an obvious repair. The bed came with no side rails, so the guys made new siderails, matching the dark stain of the bottom of the head-and footboards. They added hooks and carved out new slots (actually widened the originals lots) They also lowered the bed more in keeping with how it would have been originally. Cross slats were added for the mattress box to sit on. The footboard had some nicks and dents which were also repaired. I am sure they did more step on the repairs, but I don't know the details of restoring furniture. The over-all look is fantastic. The bed is beautiful and sturdier than it has been the entire time I've owned it.

+ -1 moreI have a 1920's maple bedroom set that consists of a tall dresser, low dresser with mirror, queen bed, and lampstand. They were temporarily stored in my mother's garage in Queen Creek. Gustavo was prompt in responding to my mother's home to give an estimate. He was very pleasant and knowledgeable, explaining in detail what he would do to repair the furniture and how he would do it. He said that it would take about 3 weeks to do. Gustavo and his assistant Manny took the furniture to their work location to do the needed work. They called 3 weeks later to make an appointment for delivery. They were punctual in delivering the furniture to my own home in Gold Canyon. The completed work is beautiful. I am very pleased.

I personally phoned the company in the morning to ascertain if the appt would be closer to 10:30am or the 11:30am slot. Manny phoned his assistant and informed me closer to 11:30am. They were prompt at 11:15am, dressed appropriately and professional. Clean well groomed. They have my referral for anyone in need of furniture restoration. I forgot to mention how neat and clean they kept my family room with placing a covering furniture covering on the floor and cleaned up any residual after removing the covering. I was very impressed as a first time user from Angie's List

Repairs were expensive but since we don't know how the cost compares with other companies, we have no basis of knowing if they were reasonable in today's market. Work was completed about a week after promised date but the furniture was delivered at the appointed time for delivery. (Actually, it was delivered a few minutes early and Speedy Furniture allowed us to choose a delivery time that was convenient for us.)
Description of Work: Coffee table was refinished and rattan bench was repaired and refinished. The workmanship was excellent - table and bench look beautiful!

+ -1 moreI have some maple cabinets in the pantry with a natural finish, and wanted to stain them to match the maple cabinets in the kitchen. Speedy Furniture came and looked at the job, but wouldn't give me a price until they could test out an area on the pantry cabinets. Keep in mind, the pantry doors are in perfect condition, I just wanted to stain them to match the kitchen. They took one cabinet door from the pantry and one door from the kitchen that we want to match to their shop, called me in a few days and came back. The door from the pantry they stained wasn't even close in shade to the kitchen cabinet, and I told them so. The kitchen cabinets have a reddish tint to them and the pantry door they stained had a brownish tint -- I do a lot of my own remodeling, and I believe that I could have come closer than that myself. Plus there was some running of the stain onto the other side of the door -- not a clean looking sample job at all. And the price they quoted to stain all the pantry cabinets seemed very high. But in spite of that, maybe if the stain was a knock out match, I would have gone for it anyway. But as I said, it wasn't even close, so it wasn't even a consideration. They had done the sample staining of the pantry door on the back side. They took it back to their shop and were able to remove almost all of the stain, thankfully, and kindly brought it back. So I was only out the $25 that they charge for service calls. They were very polite and professional to deal with, but I wasn't impressed at all, with their ability to stain and match.

When I called, they promptly scheduled a visit to examine our poor table, determined on the spot that it could be saved, using a new fabric I supplied, and quoted me the price. I accepted, and they took the table to their workshop, promising that it would be finished in two weeks. Just one week later, they called to say it was finished and to schedule delivery. Once again, prompt as could be--and the work was amazing. Our coffee table is better than new for much less than it would have cost to replace it. Work doesn't get better than this: efficient, professional, as-promised and beautifully executed.
Description of Work: Speedy resurfaced our coffee table, whose faux leather top had dried out and started flaking, and also repaired and refinished part of the top that had been damaged in shipping.
