My husband and I were impressed with the knowledge and the professionalism shown by the technician. I was not pleased with the price particularly but I had noticed that they seemed pricey during a previous service. However, that said, I think the quality was excellent and so I will pay for that but not "enjoy" the price! I used them again the following month for a leaking bathtub faucet and the tub spout was replaced and the bath tub shower valve was rebuilt. That cost about $400. I had had that looked at a few years ago by another plumber who said everything was "fine". This was during a service offered through Angie's List to assess the plumbing for $99 I think. Frankly that company seemed to be useless and I would not use them again. So, therefore, what I guess I mean to say is that even if I might be able to have plumbing done for less money, I will stick with Parker and Sons. They do excellent work and do it right.
Description of Work: I had noticed dampness under my kitchen sink and thought it was due to the garbage disposal. I finally called Parker and Sons who had done work for us before when I started seeing moldy sponges. The technician came, saw that it was in fact a leak from the kitchen faucet and replaced the faucet. He also replaced the hot and cold water shut offs under the sink.

On October 1 we arrived at our new house in Scottsdale after driving from our prior residence in North Carolina. The moving van was due to arrive on October 5 and we had several repairs to make to the house prior to our furniture arriving. We had previously had Parker & Sons provide an estimate for replacing a secondary drain pan, clear the drain, provide a double pole contactor and a condensate switch - these items had been identified by our inspector before we purchased the house. We evaluated Parker & Sons on Angie's List and was impressed with their rating and reviews. We also received positive recommendations from several of our friends who had used them. On October 2 we had Parker & Sons come out for the previously identified repairs and also had them check why our air conditioner was not cooling adequately. They inspected the 14 year old unit and found the compressor had gone out (it was working when the house was inspected but went out while we returned to NC to finalize our packing). With a unit this old, we determined it was not practical to repair it and decided to have a new, more energy efficient unit installed. With the moving van coming in three days, Parker & Sons assured us they could have a new unit installed before the movers arrived. I went in the attic with them to see what was involved - there was no sub floor - you literally had to walk the beams. The old attic unit had to be disassembled and removed through a small roof entrance in the laundry room. The new unit had to be brought in and installed in the attic. Additionally, there was only one gate to the fenced back yard and the outside unit to be replaced was on the other side of the house with no clear access from the gate. So, a crane had to be ordered to lift the old unit out and the new unit in. On October 4, the scheduling and installation went like clockwork. The only problem they ran into was getting the communicating thermostat to operate correctly, but they resolved that problem also. They finished the work on October 4 as promised, prior to our moving van arriving. They honored a $1,000 Angie's List member coupon for a new heating & cooling system installation and prepared all the paper work for an APS Residential AC Rebate for a new energy efficient unit. I was amazed and pleased with how fast they responded to our situation and how fast the installation went. I highly recommend Parker & Sons for all Heating and Air Conditioner work. They are highly dependable, professional, and do quality work. We will certainly use them in the future for all HVAC work..
Description of Work: Installed a new 3 ton, 16.5 seer air conditioning unit -gas horizontal, new hanging kit, new gas shutoff valve and flex, new disconnect with electrical whip and isolation pads. Also installed new communicating thermostat.

Justin Beiber met with us to let us know what our options were after one of Parker & Sons technicians gave us a second opinion on the condition of the HVAC unit which had been declared unsafe and in need of replacement by another Heating & AC company. We had used Parker & Sons several times before and always believed that we received real value (good work at a good price by good people) so we asked them to take a quick look. The next day their technician inspected the unit and was in agreement that the unit should be replaced. Mr Beiber helped us select a unit which was consistant in quality and price with our plans for the house (we are fixing it up to sell it when the market improves a bit more; meanwhile my son is living in it). We were NOT displepleased with his recommendation but mentioned that we would seek a second offer before deciding. Mr Beiber called his boss who suggested a price that made seeking a second offer unnecessary. The installation occurred the next day (a Saturday) Two technicians arrived early and unhooked the old unit and the swamp cooler. Shortly after they finished, a crane arrived and removed thems and lifted the new unit into place. The technicians did work in the attic, inside the house proper and on the roof. They were courteous and carefull and always communicated what they were doing. They finished by mid-afternoon and spent a fair amount of time cleaning up and making sure everything was firmly in place and properly sealed. The installation not only provided a new HVAC unit but also an improvement to the appearance of both the roof and the interier of the house. We are most pleaed with the knowledge, courtesy and professionalism of all Parker & Sons personnel with whom we.interacted

Description of Work: I have been with Parker and Sons for the twice annual maintenance of my 2 AC/Heater units. I use the services of a specific tech that knows my house and how to keep track of overall unit operation. He is always professional, on time for the calls and points out items that may need to be replaced to keep the 2 AC units running all summer. So far after 4 years, only on failure and it was corrected by Parker in 6 hours. Having a service agreement gives a homeowner priority on calls for service and discounts for non-warranty material and labor.

I felt totally over charged. I felt taken and I'm embarrassed. I'm grateful to be able to vent on Angie's List and maybe give someone else a heads up.
Description of Work: I called Parker & Sons to snake out 2 slowing moving drains (kitchen & bathroom tub). I live in a Viila in Subbird golf resort in Chandler, AZ.. History indicates the drains in the Villas have a tendency to clog and I thought I would catch it before it gets worse. The workman said he was very he was familiar withe area and the plumbing problems. He used a small motorized snake and was finished in minutes. After he said he completed the job, he said I needed to use a product he carried in his truck. He said to split the bottle between the 2 drains once a month. The box contained 6 bottles and cost approximately $50. The price of the service with product came to $400. I was in sticker shock and obviously my brain froze. I paid the man and rationalized, if I fixed the problem and prevented a worse problem, it was worth it. Well The problem wasn't fixed, it was worse! I went to Ace Hardware, told him of the product I was using and he said it would make the drains slower and would eventually clogs the drains completely. He said the product was a weak enzyme and gummed things up. It's one of the new green products. In addition I found out that employees at Parker & Sons get paid a commission on additional service.

We saw Parker & Sons' stall at Costco and scheduled them for a visit to our home for a quote. Jim came by and provided a quote to replace the old ground floor unit. We discussed the location of a replacement and asked him to also price in moving our second floor unit's heat pump to the new location in our back yard. The quote was competitive, especially with Costco's cash rebates. In addition, I liked Jim's approach to relocating the units, which showed an intention of maximizing our unit's efficiency (he suggested digging a trench to route the copper tubes from the house wall to the heat pumps to improve insulation and eliminate a tripping hazard), and providing me with all the relevant information. When we picked Parker & Sons to carry out the work, they were able to schedule a date for a work the very same week. They came by and scoped out the work the previous day and arrived promptly at 7 in the morning on the scheduled day. The work took all day (especially since the work also included moving our second unit), and the team were professional and diligent. They kept us informed of the progress at regular intervals and explained the source of any delays. They explained their recommendation for surge protection, without a hard up-sell, and allowed me to make the decision. At the end, they spent a significant time testing the units and left the work location spic and span. No debris was left over from the old unit, the trench was filled in as good as new, concrete slabs were provided to stabilize both units (which I hadn't expected) and if anything, the back yard was left tidier than it had been before. I'm going to test the unit over the next several days to make sure that it is working (both cooling and heating) as it should, but otherwise, I am completely satisfied with the work so far. Even if there are any issues with the operations, the 1-year service agreement and the labor guarantee will cover any return trips, and I'm confident from everything that I've seen that this company is dependable. PS:- I have seen how bad A/C contractors works. I had my other AC unit replaced 2 years ago by a company that isn't around anymore. The quality of their work left much to be desired, so this time I wanted to go with someone that will stand by their product and their work. Parker & Sons appear to be someone that will. UPDATE: Parker and Sons called us to schedule the tune up (included in the cost of the installation), and their technician was very professional. I shadowed him as he was working and he explained everything that he was doing and how everything was working fine.
Description of Work: Parker & Sons provided me with a very competitive quote (after applying rebates from Costco, Amex and Lennox) for a new heat pump and air handler (Air Conditioning system) for the ground floor of my two floor home. They removed and hauled away the old unit, installed the new one, repositioned the unit at a suitable location (as the location of the old unit was insufficient to fit a high efficiency unit), moved my other unit (for my second floor) too to this new location, dug trenches where the copper tubes and electrical wires routed, provided a concrete slab to stabilize both units, covered the trench to make the side yard space look new, filled coolant into both units, and tested both units.

The last time I used them I was charged for several diagnostic fees and told that the price of the diagnostic fees would be put toward the price of repairs if I chose to use them. The price for repairs I was quoted was over $4000.00 so I decided to get other estimates. Not because I didn't trust them, they have always done a great job, only because of the price. I settled on a company that came out and did the same tests "free of charge" and their estimate came in over $2500.00 lower for exactly the same diagnosed problem. I decided to save the $2500.00 and go with the better bid and the company that didn't nickel and dime me on all of the diagnostics on top of inflating their price to cover their advertising.
Description of Work: I have used Park and Sons on three occasions. They are always pleasant and punctual; however, you are always the one who gets to pay for their extensive advertising throughout Phoenix. I had them come out for routine pre-summer a/c service. They diagnosed a problem and recommended a service to fix the problem. While diagnosing the problem they charged me a couple of fees for "special diagnostic equipment" etc. that was to be deducted from the price of repair if I went with them. I had another company come give me a truly free estimate without any "special diagnostic" fees and ultimately went with that other company.

I had been using Parker and Sons for several years on my personal residence and also on several rental properties that I own. I had spent several thousand dollars with them on one particular property. I had a switch replaced on an HVAC unit. The following year (during annual maintenance service) I was told that the switch needed to be replaced again. It was two months over the year warranty so I would need to purchase another switch (plus labor). I asked the technican why a switch would burn out so quickly and if there was another issue causing that problem. The technican agreed and determined that I needed a new fan motor. The technican replaced the fan motor per my request. One week later the unit stopped working. I was told by the technician that the compressor now needed to be replaced.I found it odd that the compressor failed shortly after the fan motor was replaced. I asked them what had happened. I never got a straight answer but they were happy to quote me on the compressor replacement and also on a brand new unit. I called in two other HVAC vendors because I grew not to trust what they were telling me. Both of these vendors said without a doubt that they way the fan motor was installed caused a short in the compressor. I decided to replace the entire unit rather than dumping more money into the old unit. The new company I purchased the unit from said they would absolutely go to bat for me. They hauled the old unit back to their office, took photos and even wrote a letter and attempted to contact Parker & Sons to advocate for a refund on my behalf. They received no response. I will never use Parker & Sons again. They have lost all my future business. I feel like they took my money and had no desire to do the right thing and were only interested in making a buck by selling me a new unit after costing me money after their mistake. That takes nerve in my book.

I called for a service at 7am, and they told me I was first on the list and someone would call me back. No call back, so called again at 8.20am, explaining that I had to go to work so needed to know if/when someone was coming. Was told everyone was in a staff meeting, but someone would call within 30 minutes. 9.45am still no call, so called again, and told that my technician was on another call out, but I would be next, but as technician had already been a long time on this call, it may be a major problem and they couldn't say how long. I mentioned again that I was late for work, and asked them to call the technician and to call me back with an estimate of when they were coming. I called again at 10.15, still no call back, and was told that they have no way of contacting technicians. I mentioned that they exhibit a major lack of respect for customer's time. At 11am gave up, found another more responsive company on Angie's List and canceled my service contract with Parker & Sons.

Stephen was great prompt friendly and explain everything very thoroughly . My air conditioner motor went out and he didn't have the part with him he had to drive all the way to tolleson to get the part and was back quickly The whole thing only took about 2 hours of my time with same day service. the process went very well. I have been using Parker and Sons for 7 years, my AC mechanic is Ken Porter. Excellent skills, explains the issue and what is needed to correct it in terms I can understand. Does not push or try to SELL other repairs that are not required. Extremely consciences about tracking in dirt from outside or insulation from the attic. Very positive attitude, and never complains about heat, job issues, very professional. He arrives at the house on time, asks questions about the situation, completes his diagnosis and explains the repair. I highly reccomend Parker and Sons.

They had done work last year that included a one year warranty service call and inspection. We were fortunately within days of the year and they came out to check. But charged two hundred fifty for adding freon. Ridiculous! I had them come out to another property to evaluate and estimate a repair. Their quote was over a thousand dollars above the quote and actual cost from another company. Will never call them again.

The Tech came out to assess the problem. He was prompt and very professional. He and my Husband noticed the platform the the water tank was on was very soft from the water leaking. The tech Justin called a repair person he works with to come out and give us a price to repair it. My Husband decided to fix it himself and the Tech Justin gave us his cell phone # to call him when he was done. He even said he would come back out that evening. We told him Monday would be ok and he insisted on coming back Sunday morning at 7 a.m. He was very prompt and had the job done in 3 hours. He quoted everything before the job was started. He even cleaned up! We will be using Parker and Son's from now on! Thank you for such prompt, professional, courteous service!
Description of Work: We had an emergency with our hot water tank and they had someone out the very next morning. Very professional and courteous. We have always used George Brazil for everything including some past plumbing emergencies and non-emergencies. This time the Tech called us back in 10 minutes from George Brazil and told us he was across town and if he "had" to come out, it would be $124.00. He also said our hot water tank is probably under warranty (even though we told him we were not the original purchaser) and he said we should just call them. Obviously he didn't want to come out, it was Friday night. This was our first time using Parker and Son's and we will be using them from now on.

When they put it in, there was no problem, then I found out the same water heater could have been put in for much less money, but my husband said let it go. Now my husband was out in the garage and he found where the hot water tank was leaking, and the warranty is not up. And the outside jacket was rusted. We had the man come back to see, since it was still under warranty, what they planned to do about it. And he said oh we will replace it. I said, well, I don't even know if I want the same thing. Then he said it will cost you $601 to remove this and replace it.

Our original quote was $650. We were told we would get an Angie's list 10% discount, it took several phone calls before we got that 10%. The installers were nice enough, and efficient. However, one of them needed to ask me questions, so instead of knocking on the door he tried to just come in the house. Luckily I had the door locked. He did this twice, I thought it was very odd especially because I had a dog in the house with me. They charged our credit card before the work was done, which they explained they would . But I inquired about using a different credit card and they said that would be no problem at all. They would just refund the original. That took 3 &1/2 weeks to do, and about 4 different phone calls. Every week they said it would occur the next week. They couldn't explain why it took so long (each phone call). The install seeems to be working fine, but we would not use them again!

I have been disappointed with their service, and I feel that I shouldn’t have bought the units from them. When the person came out the last time, he had to do a repair that he wanted to charge me for. He told me that the units were notorious for that part breaking, so I felt that they had installed faulty equipment, and they wanted to charge me for fixing it.
