We’re a home warranty company, a company that believes in providing the best service possible to fix what’s broken. Fast. And while home ownership has never been easy, OneGuard is rooted in the belief that life is more important than a leaky faucet. Life is about spending time with family and friends. It's about enjoying time in the backyard. It's about precious time. Time that you can’t afford to waste. Contact us today for your Arizona, Nevada or Texas home warranty service! A home warranty is limited to providing repair or replacement coverage on items when they break down as a result of normal wear and tear. So, proper use and care of systems and appliances is required for coverage. Non-mechanical parts or components that do not contribute to the primary function of appliances are not covered. Check contract for details. Or call one of our Customer Care representatives. We'd love to chat with you.

The company dispatched my service request to the appropriate A/C company who contacted me scheduled an appointment and fixed the problem. Unfortunately the part that was bad was the coil in the air handler which had to be ordered to no fault of their's but it did get fixed and works great.
Description of Work: This is a home warranty company that was very professional and got my A/C fixed. Thus far no problems the unit runs great

The service was done on time and correctly. He walked through the various points where there was an issue and explained the work that was done. The service was done expertly and within 2 hours. I have found One Guard to be very responsive when using their web service request. They do not hire fly-by-not technicians, and they have been able to get the service scheduled within 24 hours of posting the request.I will most likely continue a contract with them when the year is up. The service and support I have received on 3 separate events has been outstanding.
Description of Work: Came home to leaking sprinklers. I opened up a service request on their website. I was contacted a few hours later for a next day service. They had one of the sprinkler companies locally come out and repair the leaking lines.

I felt like One Guard was a great decision for my wife and I as we bought our first house last July. The house is 35 years old and we kept the appliances from the previous owners so the warranty gave us great piece of mind. We needed One Guard a total of three times. Once, our air conditioner was acting up so we called and they had someone out here pretty quick to look at it. The next time we needed our dishwasher serviced because the water pump went out amongst other things. Lastly, we called because the water heater's pressure relief valve got stuck and kept leaking water. The warranty company did not replace any of the appliances because they were repairable (which kind of stinks because my water heater is 20+ years old and has a ton of build-up at the bottom...it's a ticking time bomb...). I know there is a huge debate about whether or not to get a home warranty and I am actually battling that in my mind as we speak. I don't know if I am going to renew or not. If I do not renew, it will not be because the service was poor. One Guard did a great job for me.

It turned out fine. We had a few things that happened that OneGuard paid for so I guess we're satisfied with it. We had a problem with the air conditioning when we moved in that they didn't pay for because they said it was a pre-existing problem which I couldn't argue with. Most of it was paid by the seller.

They declined coverage and their argument was nice to have a bath tub drain system in place so that is the reason it is not covered. It is almost a week and still not resolved. This was my first service call so had a very bad experience so I would not recommend this to anyone who is looking for home warranty.

Thank you for taking the time to share your service experience with OneGuard Home Warranties. We do appreciate it. Please know it is our solid commitment to always provide our customers with a positive service experience, and we sincerely regret that you are not satisfied with the terms of your service agreement. We apologize for any confusion. Please allow us to explain why the drain stoppers for your bathroom tubs are not covered items under the service contract. The OneGuard home warranty covers for the mechanical parts and components that contribute to the primary function of the system. These particular items, drain stoppers, are not covered under the policy, as they do not impact the primary operation of the plumbing system. When you called for service, our representative reviewed the coverage with you as it relates to the Plumbing System, Fixtures, & Stoppages section of your service contract. OneGuard would not send out for repair on the items because OneGuard simply does not cover the drain stops. We would be very happy to provide you with a list of our preferred service providers that can complete the repairs for you. Thank you again for providing us with this information. We truly value your business and look forward to serving you in the future. Sincerely, OneGuard Home Warranties [removed website]

I just leased out my mom and dad's house. My dad is deceased and my mom has been a nurse, so I leased her house out so she would have some continuing income and I did not want to mess with their warranty. I have to say, so far OneGuard Home Warranties are "A+." As soon as I had the policy I had to call them because the garbage disposal was leaking water. I called them and they said they did not have a contractor in that area. They said we will have to find one, so they did, and he came and fixed the problem within a couple of days. I called them on Thursday night, by Monday morning it was fixed. There is a huge home warranty system that all the realtors use. I used your Angie's List to read about it and everything was currently given an "F," so they have like a "B," and I said well I will take my chances. I would give them an "A+." I called my renters and they said that they were real friendly and real professional. They did a good job. They said that the plumber was real friendly and fixed the garbage disposal with no problems. Regarding price, I got a $39 Angie's List discount. They had to drive 28 miles. If the pipe leaks or if you have an electrical glitch, the oven is covered, the refrigerator in the kitchen is covered. I got the most basic plan. They have ones that will fertilize your yard; they will come by and chop your trees and everything, they provide as much service as you want. They cover more of the structural part of the home. Mine, it does not cover the glass doors. As far as I called them and they were responsive, it was a preexisting condition to them, I had the policy on the 6th and I think I called them on the 9th and they did it, everybody else would have said oh no that is a preexisting condition and so would not have done it, but they did it. Regarding responsiveness, I called them and even though they did not have a plumber in that area they got one on Monday morning at the place and he fixed the garbage disposal. They must have picked a good one. They were on time. When I called OneGuard I really did not know what to expect, but they answered the phone and I found them to be "A+."

We will never use this warranty company again and want everyone to be warned of their poor service.
Description of Work: The provider did nothing. Absolutely nothing! We paid $709 for the contract in Aug. 2012 and we have made two claims which should have been honored under the contract. They completely ignored the first claim. Would not call us back. We had to repair it ourselves and then they refuse to reimburse. For the second claim we called and were told they had no record of us ever calling before. When they finally acknowledged our contract and took note of our claim they gave us the name of a contractor, they only use ONE in the whole city of Houston, he told us it would be 7 days before he could get to us. My husband took off work to meet him and the guy never showed. We called the warranty company back and they said they would "check into it". But they wouldn't give us the name of another contractor. Meanwhile we are stuck with again repairing something ourselves. This warranty is worthless. We asked for a refund of the contract price since they won't honor their responsibilities under the contract, needless to say no response.

Thank you for taking the time to share your service experience with us. Your service contract with OneGuard became effective on August 1,2012. Upon review of your file with OneGuard, we never received a phone call or voicemail message from you regarding the first claim that you are referring to in your comment. As far as reimbursing you for that first claim, OneGuard hasn’t received any correspondence regarding your reimbursement request, therefore your comment about OneGuard refusing to reimburse is completely inaccurate. The first time OneGuard has any record of you calling into our office since the start of your policy, is on July 1, 2013. It was reported to OneGuard’s Customer Care representative, that you were experiencing issues with your sprinkler system. You reported there was a zone in the backyard that was not coming on and that there were numerous damaged sprinkler heads throughout the yard. OneGuard immediately sent a work order to the contractor. OneGuard does employ more than one sprinkler contractor in the city of Houston, however the contractor in your area was booked solid for 2 days after your sprinkler issue was reported to us, then it was the July 4th holiday. We apologize that the contractor wasn’t available to provide service to your home immediately. Regarding your comment that the contractor didn’t show up to service your claim, is in fact completely inaccurate. The contractor provided a window of time in which the appointment was scheduled, however he was held over on a job that was taking a lot longer than it should have. The contractor contacted you and stated he would still be coming to your home to complete the job, however he was delayed a couple of hours due to and unforeseen issue at the current job he was on. Our contractor was advised by you to ‘just forget it’ and then he was informed that ‘you were going to find your own contractor.’ It is always our desire to exceed your expectations. After reviewing all of the facts related to your comments, OneGuard has fulfilled all contractual obligations related to this situation. Sincerely, OneGuard Home Warranties

It went fine, we actually renewed again this year so we are on our second twelve-month term with them. One of the services that they offered with our coverage was to re-key the locks and they re-keyed all the locks of our new home. Also, they were very helpful in hooking up our home-security system. We have had them out once for hot water heater and once for a pre season air-conditioning check and they did fine. I think there was a $55 service charge but that is the only fee you are charged.

My realtor contacted the company and setup the service for me. They bought the warranty for me for the closing. One of the representatives contacted me and welcomed me to the service. We did have someone come over and go through the warranty service. It is a yearly service. They had two plans and I went with the higher one. There was nothing bad about it. They were courteous and willing to do what was required so my warranty service was setup properly. It was dealt with also over the phone and over email.

For the most part, I had been pleased with the service provided by One Guard, but now I'm quite disappointed. Friday evening, our water heater was leaking. The Rep said that they couldn't get any contractors out, but would have someone call me on Saturday between 8-12...THE WATER HEATER WAS LEAKING EVERYWHERE! We somehow got up all the water that evening and was able to stop the water for the time being. I called again in the morning to make sure someone was coming out that day - was told that it was the answering service and that they were not able to view my information..............WHAT?!? I then talked to someone else that told me that it won't be until between 8-12 on Monday, not Saturday - so the Rep I talked to last night misinformed me and that they probably couldn't get someone out until Wednesday...................again, THE WATER HEATER HAD LEAKED EVERYWHERE. I asked her why One Guard does not contract with plumbers that work on weekends - I was told that it's because plumbing companies view most plumbing issues as non-emergencies that could wait until the workweek...WHAT?! I then asked if we could find someone to come out, would I get reimbursed - to which she said no because they wouldn't be able to guarantee the work - I asked even if a company like Bakers Brothers (who is probably a larger company than any of the ones One Guard contracts with and you know is bonded and insured) came out they wouldn't cover it? Nope...nada...this is stupid. So we ended up paying out of our pockets because we did find a company to come out - they work with American Home Shield, who OBVIOUSLY IS SMART ENOUGH TO CONTRACT WITH COMPANIES THAT WORK ON WEEKENDS, so once my year is up with One Guard, I will be switching home warranty companies.... This whole process brought undue stress on me and my family....One Guard Home Warranty is now worthless in my eyes. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update - Sept 2013....Samantha Marquis from One Guard reached out to me regarding this review and looked into the situation - reviewed the phone calls to confirm the above statements. She reviewed the information with her manager and was able to reimburse me for the amount that they would have covered, had the service been performed by a One Guard contractor. She said that they have taken steps to address my specific concerns and provided additional training to their service representatives. Samantha is very professional and was helpful in rectifying this situation and our family really appreciates the fact that she took our situation seriously and took steps to fix it. While I would love to update all the ratings to "A", the fact that I had to endure this stress to begin with is the reason I changed my ratings to just a "B"...I've never had problems with the professionalism of One Guard's representatives (as was indicated by the "A" in the original review)...Thanks again, Samantha!

The first few paragraphs of this review are an update to my original posting. The original text remains below so that you can see what the initial problem and response were. One Guard did work with me after I escalated the issue to their senior management. The representative who responded to the escalation was very professional, and helpful and responded to my concerns. This is the reason for the B grade under professionalism. Had this person handled my request initially it might even have been an A. Unfortunately this was not the case and instead a front line employee initially only backed up their contractor who I will not allow back on my property. In any event, One Guard did continue to work with me and approximately a month after I first reported the problem the pool pump / plumbing issue was fixed. Had the contractor simply done the work properly the first visit I would not have lost a month of pool use during prime swimming season, and I would not have had to spend nearly $600 in additional chemicals to try and get the pool back in balance after 44K gallons of water sat fallow for a month. So, from my perspective, One Guard cost me an additional $600 in chemicals beyond what I would normally spend on chemicals and of course this wasn't covered......... The bottom line however, is One Guard did eventually force their only contractor in DFW to do the job so I moved the ratings up from the original F's. I will add one additional comment. I have had a couple of other minor claims with One Guard, and they were actually quite good about getting someone out quickly and resolving the problem. In terms of Home Warranty companies, they are actually worth considering. Just beware that like most home warranty companies, if you have a larger claim issue, there is likely to be a lot of work getting the coverage you paid for and doing so may take some time and effort. One last note......I wish I could post a photo of the electrical connection their contractor made to the pump.........The fitting that connects the conduit was not replaced and wires are showing at the connection......again, very poor contractor for pools in the DFW area. Original text is below: I have owned my house a little over a year. I had a couple of minor issues that were handled routinely by One Guard and while not overly impressed was not terribly disappointed either. This just changed and as full disclosure I am waiting to see at this moment if they are going to make things right or not. Regardless, the punctuality is a fail as this has been over a week now......if the situation is appropriately resolved I will modify the grading slightly as an F in most categories would no longer be appropriate, but at the moment One Guard is nothing but an Epic Fail....... I recently renewed my home warranty. A couple of days later I returned home from a business trip and realized the pool was not circulating. I had pool coverage which includes the plumbing above ground and the pump / filter equipment. After examining the equipment it was apparent two small leaks had developed in the PVC piping due to cracks and that was causing air to enter the systmen preventing the pump from producing sufficient suction to circulate the water. I informed One Guard of the issue. The company they contacted, Carefree Solutions, appears to be a schill for One Guard. They indicated they could not come out that day to fix the pool and would come out the following Monday......meanwhile my pool is not circulating or filtering in the Texas heat. I had to leave town again for several days but told them I would leave the gate to the pool unlocked for them. They did not show up on Monday. On Tuesday they did show up and did nothing more than turn off the cirucuit breker to the pump. I called One Guard to find out what was going on and they told me they had denied coverage due to an "improper repair." This is my issue with One Guard. Everything had been working until the day I called them. It had been working since before I purchased the house. Since I had not adjusted the "union" on top of the pump as claimed by the technician, nor had I replaced the bolts on the filter as claimed by the technician, nor had I spliced the PVC piping anywhwere as apparently claimed by the technician, I disagree that there was any improper repair or installation. Everything was fine....The One Guard web site says they cover pre-existing conditions....when I stated that since everything had been fine for over a year if it was really improper, it would qualify under the pre-existing condition scenario, they said that since I was now on a renewal that no longer applied. Using their logic, I have no idea if ANYTHING at all is covered now as I have no idea if any other "covered" systems in the house have had "improper" repairs......so One Guard apparently has an opportunity to claim no coverage essentially on any system in the house that has been to date working just fine, as was the case with the pool...... One Guard did say they would send another company out for a second opinion because apparently they weren't about to believe anything I had to say.....We will see if this resolves the problem or not.....if it doesn't I will simply cancel the coverage as I will now have ZERO faith in the company's willingness or ability to do the right thing.
Description of Work: Home Warranty Company.....Approximate cost of service is annual fee not including service charges.

They were very good. The first person I talked to wasn't very helpful. I asked if we would get $25 off because of Angie's List and she's like no. She told me that it was not for the first time when you're a home buyer. The person I talked to beforehand was off that particular day and saw the invoice that they sent me, so the next day all by herself without me even asking she sent me an email with a new invoice. She said that she was sorry that her helper took the $25 off, so I was happy with them.

We had 2 major issues which involved OneGuard this year. Our first issue was the discovery that our shower pan had a leak, which resulted in an insurance claim with our homeowners insurance. During the diagnosis process, we had a misunderstanding with OneGuard as to what they would repair due to some drywall damage that was done during the diagnosis process. To make a long story short, OneGuard listened and responded. I cannot emphasize the importance of communicating clearly with OneGuard if their service somehow falls short. They do respond and I have been completely satisfied. Our second issue came during our semi-annual a/c tune-up, when it was discovered that we needed to replace one of our a/c units. There were only certain items covered under the warranty, and we ended up with a non-name brand unit replacing our name-brand unit, but overall it was a painless process, we had to pay a little more than $400.00 for the parts not covered, and the unit seems to be operating just fine. As long as the unit operates property and keeps us cool in the summer and warm in the winter, I don't care what name is on the outside. The interaction with OneGuard employees was very good overall and their response time is great. I had one problem with one of the ladies who answered the phone at OneGuard, and management addressed the problem immediately. I would definitely recommend OneGuard to others seeking a home warranty company. We have had a contract with them for almost three years and we have been very glad to have had it!
Description of Work: One Guard Home Warranties puts us in contact with local contractors who can do repairs on items covered in their warranty. There is a monthly fee we pay which depends on your coverage, (we pay $69.00 per month), and service calls are $59.00.

This refrigerator was a model from the 1970's that was in the home when we purchased it. One Guard sent a repairman right away who recommended It be replaced as the parts to fix it would cost more than it was worth. The next day One Guard was on the phone to us with the model number of the new refrigerator they were ordering for us and we had the new one almost immediately. Since then we have renewed the warranty for another year. I highly recommend this company

The purchasing was easy, as expected. the response to confirm the purchase was also very quick. A week after we purchased the home we had problems with the pool filter system. One Guard was very responsive in getting a contractor who arranged a time with us to check out the pool equipment. Contract was professional and seemed to know what needed to be done. Unfortunately OneGuard denied the warranty claim because they considered it "pre-existing". One Guard requested my home inspection report which included a statement that the pool equipment should be further inspected by a pool service company - which the inspector told me he puts on all inspection reports because that is not his expertise. In my opinion On Guard used my inspection report to improperly deny the claim - they should have asked their own service contractor who told me that it could not be considered pre-existing. Both the service contractor and the pool service company (who had serviced the pool for 10 years) said this type of failure can happen at any time and there's no evidence that this failure was known before the purchase. I ended up paying the contractor to do the repairs. So, at this time, I haven't seen any value in this $1200 warranty.

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments with us and congratulations on the purchase of your new home! The intent of a home warranty is to cover for mechanical failures that occur to your homes systems and appliances when they fail due to normal wear and tear, after the effective date of the warranty. Please understand that there is no home warranty that would cover for known pre-existing problems that are occurring in your home before the warranty went into effect. Because you called in for service to report your pool filter not working properly 2 days after the policy went into effect, OneGuard requested a copy of the inspection report to see if there was a way we would be able to cover this claim, based on the findings the pool technician reported to OneGuard. Per the inspection report that you sent to OneGuard, there were several things noted on the inspection relating to the pool equipment including: filter gauge is damaged and unreadable, therefore the inspector was unable to evaluate filter system; the main pump is leaking; the pool sweep pump is leaking, among a few other things noted. It was then documented on the inspection that a pool company needs to evaluate pool and equipment for needed repairs of equipment and components. I’m sure you can understand why OneGuard was unable to cover your pool claim. Thank you for choosing OneGuard for your home warranty needs. We do appreciate your business! They responded quickly, scheduled the service with the provider, and then everything when through the locksmith company. We received the home warranty through the purchase of the house. This is the only service we've scheduled through them so far. Basically, since our house is in good working order and the major things that might need replacing were flagged in the home inspection, there's not much they can help us with besides the key service, which was done quickly and easily.
Description of Work: Scheduled re-keying service as allowed under home warranty contract.

The only thing they have covered so far is 1) rekeying 6 locks. I paid for the 7th, plus extra because the locksmith could not replace one of the locks in the knobs. I still paid a $59 service fee on top of that. 2) Repairing (sort of) my hot water heater which stopped working about 1 1/2 weeks after moving in. The plumber came out and found that it was not working but did not replace the entire water heater. He instead replaced only some parts. I don't believe that this was sufficient as I have hot water only sporadically now and only in certain faucets. They will not cover items that were not in perfect working order when you got the warranty. I bought an older house so none of the appliances etc. were brand new. In addition, although my appliances were working when I moved in, my inspection report states that many should be looked at by a repair person. Therefore, OneGuard has not covered any of those items. The only items that have been covered were those not mentioned by my inspector. If you buy a brand new house, with brand new appliances etc., maybe a home warranty would be worth it. As I said, I am very glad that I did not pay money for this warranty, as I do not believe it would be worth it in the long run.
Description of Work: This is a home warranty provider which was paid for by the Seller when I bought my house. I am glad that I did not pay for it, because it has covered very little, to none, of the problems that I have had since moving in. They did not repair/replace the AC, electrical panel that went out after I moved in.

Thank you for taking the time to share your comments. Also, if there are things noted on the inspection report that were known problems, these would not be covered as well, until they are fixed and in good workmanlike condition. I’m sure you can understand why this would be the case. Regarding the claim for your water heater you mentioned, the technician that was sent to your home determined that the gas control simply needed to be replaced. Because this is a routine repair, it makes sense to just make the repair versus replacing the entire water heater. If you are still experiencing problems with the water heater as you mention in your comments, I would encourage you to call our Customer Care team and let them know right away. Please know that the work the technician performed at your home is guaranteed for 30 days. We listen, we care, and we are responsive to your needs. Sincerely, OneGuard Home Warranties

The experience with OneGuard Home Warranties went very well. We've only had to use them one time and that was for a locksmith, when we moved into our new house. They arrived here when they said and it just went great.
